    Steak Frites

Mauka Market is located in the Daniel K Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii. We got to the airport a little early and ended up having enough time to sit down and eat somewhere before heading home. We decided to check out Mauka Market and I'm so glad we did! We were seated immediately and greeted by our very friendly and knowledgeable server. My husband and I ordered the Steak Frites to share and my daughter went with the Spicy Pork Ramen - let me tell you, for it being the airport, it was some good Ramen! Our Steak Frites was decent - fries needed seasoning, but overall, we really enjoyed our meal. Overall, there were plenty of seating options and I believe they had a large bar area as well. If we ever come back to Honolulu, we will definitely be stopping for some food at Mauka Market. Check them out!

Decent option for the airport! Burger was delicious and enough to split before our plane ride. Plenty of seating, bar, high tops, and regular tables.

I kind of rarely find myself in this side of the airport (I guess the mauka side), well really the Hawaiian Airlines (now Alaska Airlines?) side of the airport. The A gates are newer and fancier so maybe that's why I felt like I needed to sit down at a bar before my red eye flight? I guess when I'm flying United from the G gates, I never really have the urge to go to the restaurants down there. I'm pretty sure they have something very similar to the mauka market o the G gate side. It's probably even called makai market. lol. Anyway, TSA was a breeze. I think it always is on the Hawaiian Airlines side. But I had 2 hours before my flight boarded. I noticed on Yelp, the hours said that the restaurant would be closing, but they actually don't close until like 11 (maybe they stop taking orders at 10:30, but it was definitely later that whatever is officially posted). They were SO busy. There was no host, but there is a host stand. So I sat myself at the bar. I was pleasantly surprised to find very conveniently places outlets right under the bar counter. I hate when restaurants don't list prices next to cocktails. I immediately assume I'm going to get scammed, but they had fruity cocktails that appealed to me and I thought yolo, I'm on vacation. I'm not actually on vacation but in my head I have convinced myself that airports=vacation. I ordered new guava marg. It was very delicious. I liked that it had fancy flakey salt on the rim. It was also very expensive. Probably the most expensive margarita I've ever drank. I also ordered the burger. It was surprisingly pretty good for airport food. It was also expensive, but at least I knew what I was getting into because the price was listed on the menu. I liked that you could get a salad instead of fries, even though it would cost $3 more. I knew from the yelp pics that the burger came with a mayo sauce, so I stuck with the fries and it was a great combo. Using arugula in the burger was a delightful choice I don't normally see and the burger was cooked perfectly. Also, grilling the bread?? Fancy af... The bartender, Heidi, (I only remember because she has the same name as my MIL and looked kinda familiar), was sweet and definitely trying her best with all the cocktail orders and helping the people seated at the counter. Looked stressful, but she was handling it like a pro. They give a pineapple gummy with your receipt which is kinda cute. I think I'll have to be back next time I'm "on vacation". Haha but seriously I'm glad to know they are open late and serve decent food and drinks (even though it'll cost an arm and a leg).... In this economy, sheesh!

Last meal before my husband and my flight back home and it was a friendly, positive experience. Our server was very nice and all our drinks and food came out relatively quickly. We wanted to grab a couple drinks and burgers before we jump on our longer flight back home and this was right by our gate. The high top counter was clean and the drink options were good for being a quaint spot. Our burgers were alright for being an airport spot and not completely overcooked and dry. The onion marmalade added a little sweet tang and the fry seasoning and garlic aioli were good. Overall, the food came hot and the service was prompt and friendly. The taste of everything was alright, but honestly we had no complaints!

    Mahi Mahi bowl.

The mahi mahi bowl was fantastic!Quality ingredients and amazing flavor. A little bit of sweet and spice. Delicious! The perfect serving size as well. Service was wonderful. Server preferred I used the QR code, which makes the restaurant feel a little less high end, and a little more like a chain restaurant. Fairly busy during lunch which I am sure is impart to the great food. Not a quiet setting as you are in terminal A. Glad I happened to be there for a flight to try this place out.

Disappointing experience! Our flight to Japan was delayed, so my family and I decided to grab a bite near our gate and came across Mauka Market inside the Hawaiian Airlines terminal. It looked like a nice bar/restaurant, and the standing menu outside caught our eye. We decided to try the chicken teriyaki bowl and ahi bowl. When we went in, there were no signs saying whether to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. The only person visible was the bartender, who was already busy. We were about to find a seat when someone (who seemed to be a waiter) called us over from the opposite side and seated us. We noticed QR codes on the tables to order, which was convenient, but once we scanned it, the online menu didn't include the items we saw outside. After waiting a few minutes, the waiter returned and handed us a paper menu... and again, those items weren't listed. When I asked about it, he said it was the "morning menu." Morning menu? At 4:30 pm? That didn't make sense. He then took away the standing menu from outside and went to another table without taking our order. At that point, we decided to leave. Very disappointing experience overall. Confusing menus, no clear service process, & poor communication. With so many other food options in the airport, we'll definitely pass on this place next time.

BBQ Pork Sandwich with spicy fries

My flight was leaving at 11:45pm from gate A10 and I arrived at the airport around 9pm, after putting in a full day at the office. Almost nothing in the main terminal was open but the Mauka Market in terminal 1 was open so I stopped in for a drink and a snack. Dallas, my server / bartender, was very friendly and I ordered a double Hendricks gin & tonic ($25.49) and a BBQ Pork sandwich ($22.99). It was nice to see Hendricks on the shelf at an airport lounge and the BBQ pork sandwich was good but needed a touch more BBQ sauce. The accompanying fries were dusted with a spicy powder ... I would have preferred "normal" fries. In any case, it was a surprisingly good meal at the airport.

Eating at stopovers in Honolulu airport. Becoming harder and harder to fly direct from San Francisco to Kauai, or Maui, with stopovers in Honolulu airport to change planes. We ate at the Mauka Market, which is a restaurant in terminal 1 at the Honolulu airport. Noisy, crowded, typical open restaurant with no walls and minimal ambiance and privacy. The $25 teriyaki chicken came with rice, sauteed vegetables, scallions, nori on a bed of black seaweed. I suppose you could use the almost tasteless seaweed as a tortilla, but it wasn't strong enough and would tear to pieces in your hand. Decent amount of boneless sliced teriyaki chicken, with the glaze giving it some added flavor to the ginger flavored chicken. Wife had the $26 ahi poke with rice, cherry tomato, cucumber, avocado and pickled vegetables to give it added flavor. She ate it all, as not a whole lot of ahi tuna compared to the much larger portion of leafy greens. Yes, they have burgers with fries, and its only $23. $3 bacon and $3 avocado extra. Compare to $25 burger at SFO, one of the few times food is cheaper in Hawaii than CA.

We had a few minutes to kill before our flight to LAS. Enter Mauka Market as it's always cocktail o'clock time! ATMOSPHERE: Located in the new Hawaiian Airlines wing of HNL, I had no idea they existed. Seating was plentiful as the terminal wasn't busy. They're definitely not as crowded as nearby Stinger Ray's. MENU: Cocktails, beer & wine. Burgers, sandwiches, ramen, rice bowls and breakfast items. BEVERAGE: Mionetto Prosecco Cheap price with a matching taste that was a tad too sweet for my liking. SERVICE: Bartender greeting was immediate and service quick & friendly. OVERALL: Fair-priced menu with nice selections.

6AM is never too early when you're traveling

Single malt Scotch whisky at 6 AM is never too early when you're flying. So, don't judge. But I was following tradition and grabbing myself a drink before I boarded my flight from Oahu, back to Los Angeles. No food. Just the drink. Figured I'd eat whatever breakfast was served up on the plane. Not to mention, I wasn't hungry. So, sitting at the bar as the first customer, where the bar and dining area is wide open - I'm sure people were looking at me and probably wondering if I was gonna be one of "those" guys on the plane. Not just because I was drinking that early - but because I had asked to take a pic of the bottle and the server had left it by me so it looked like I was seriously drinking. Not that service was bad - the place just opened and she was setting up as well as helping a few other guests. She checked up on me and was so sweet asking me if I wanted a chaser. None of that or training wheels for me. I enjoy finding places like this at airports I fly to from time to time. So, I can follow tradition with my usual send off before hopping into a metal tube and flying high.

Before our flight, towards the end of the airport, sits Mauka Market, which was part market (very tiny are) and part restaurant, and part bar. It kind of does a little bit of everything, but that isn't strange to some of the other markets I've been to in Waikiki that does the same with doing various things at once. They have a menu that's got a bit of everything cuisine wise. Prices were comparable to what you would find elsewhere, so I guess that's a compliment considering airport food is generally more expensive. There are some other food options you will pass by on the way to this area of the airport, but none of them will offer a nicer sit down experience like Mauka. Service here was good, even though it could be self ordering, they still had waiters that came by to help us out with direct ordering. We got the ramen and the burger today. The burger was nice, as it was cooked just right, and also tasted good. The beef they used was tender. I do wish the burger sauce they had, had more sauce on there since it tasty, but not too little. The black garlic ramen was quite good, and I was surprised the slices of chasu they included were nicely seared and also thick and fatty. For an airport ramen, this was quite solid. Overall, Mauka Market will be a good visit for a final destination of food. While it's not going to be a very Hawaiian send off necessarily as the menu items are far ranging, the food quality here speaks for itself. Just be aware though because it's a sports bar like setting too, depending on the season and day, the sit down part might be nosier than one would like.

We wanted to grab a quick bite so we saw Mauka Market, located in Terminal 1 in Daniel K Inouye International Airport (HNL). The service from Lisa was nice and friendly! She was sweet and funny. I was thinking one last taste of Hawaii with a Loco Moco, but my wife was not too hungry, so I switched to the... Hawaiian Footlong: beer-braised all beef hot dog, grilled pineapple, bacon, katsu sauce, scallions, sweet bun. Served with togarashi fries (4/5). It's a hot dog but it was pretty good sized dog. It would have been nice to have more grilled pineapples tidbits on it. The gochujang sauce that Lisa brought out separately was delicious! I asked them to not to include it on the fries. Apparently it has the togarashi seasoning and gochujang sesame seed sauce on the fries. Nice place to get food at before or after your flight.

When flying out of Terminal 1, I look forward to sitting n enjoying a meal here. This time it was a Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen. My server Vee was so busy, but still very attentive to his customers. Thank you for the hot water n lemons!!
