    Tsunami fries
    Zach M.

The food was so good! My wife and I had a while to wait until boarding so we figured we would enjoy a few appetizers while we wait. We ordered Hawaiian flatbread and it wasn't terrible. Not my most fav I've ever eaten. On the other hand the tsunami fries were really good! It was almost like eating a sushi roll haha. The service was ok. It really felt non existent. All in all we just wanted somewhere chill for a snack so it sufficed.

Now here's a shocker. Jamie W and I had good food at an airport. Now here's the predictable part. We kinda paid through the nose. We were leaving Honolulu and found ourselves with extra time on our hands. Avoiding the inevitable fast food options, we came into this surprisingly expansive place. We ended up ordering the same plate, the $26.99 Kalua Pork & Cabbage. With a scoop of rice, it was actually good even though they skimped on the macaroni salad (photo: https://yelp.to/vwVg23AjpI). The exorbitant price tag was what we expected at the airport. So was the indifferent service. Time to go to the gate. FOOD - 4 stars...somebody was doing their job in the kitchen AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...retro-vintage vibe but spacious SERVICE - 3 stars...passing through TOTAL - 4 stars...finding something tasty was a score but expect major kaching RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? I always stop at the Local@HNL when I am leaving Honolulu. This visit, I had the loco moco. It was fantastic and it was what I needed for my AM flight. This is a meal you can eat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The ground meat patty was well seasoned but the gravy and rice with the fried egg on top, was the star of the meal. The bartenders were great. Service was pretty quick as it was AM. Not a large crowd but a good one. I will definitely visit here again

The Local pov: ur hot and kinda sweaty because this aiport doesn't really have AC. you want to sit down for food because you have over an hour for your flight so you stumble into this place. the workers are stressed because it's packed and it feels kinda like a zoo. bags and people everywhere. the servers are trying their best but are being tested by one too many crazy people. it's a little slow but your food and drink aren't terrible. the chicken ceasar salad and flatbread were enjoyable. you people watch the whole time because it's fascinating. thank god there is alcohol...

Good place to eat and kill time before your flight. Burger was good.and there was plenty of fries. It wasn't busy, because of Christmas, and our waitress, Candace was great! I'd rather spend more eating here than getting burger king...

For an airport restaurant - I give a thumbs up. The Mahi Mahi tacos were really good, and not to heavy. Good sauce and salsa on them. The Chicken pineapple quesadilla was fantastic. I got a bite or two, my wife gobbled it up. The lillikoi cheesecake was bomb! So good. Our server Jeannie was friendly, andvsuoer hard working. Well come back next time we have a layover here.

Airport hunger... Once we get through the crowds of checkin and the torturous settings at the TSA check points and security you're free to wander your hearts desire of the airport and there not much choice to be honest and decided to give The Local a look...Rustic Market to be precise. Located right outside of TSA 3 which is basically in the middle of the airport I noticed an unmanned area and it is exactly what it is a place that's all grab and go of snacks and drinks, just scan pay and go which is super cool and interesting though I didn't really see prices anywhere and didn't want to browse as I basically had no intention to buy and pay airport prices. Cool yet strange concept I assume for folks who don't want to deal with the long lines in the shops and restaurants. Thank you!

If you find yourself at the airport at lunch time, this is probably your best option, since the food court is pretty sad. We were seated very quickly and service was ok, you order via app with a QR code at the table. The food took a while to arrive, luckily we had time, but if you're short on time maybe make sure it's not too busy. We got a burger, fish and chips and the loco moco, everything was very good.

Honestly didn't expect such a GOOD meal at the airport. Banana pancakes are my go to in the islands and they didn't disappoint. Had a Bloody Mary as well, a lil pricey but hit the spot. Our server was hard pressed but took care of us and checked back in a timely manner. They understaff, it appears, but it's an airport restaurant.... Beautiful garden adjacent so the view was outstanding vs other airports I've been to. Bar seating just as good as table.

I can understand why this spot has some mixed reviews and I think it's partly because of the service... I think post pandemic, Hawaii is still trying to get workers/staff back into work and it's very prominent that's the case at this place. It seemed like all the staff were serving far more tables than workers. My family and I sat in the front table and our server seemed like she's already over the day and it was the peak of lunch time. We all ordered loco moco and believe it or not, it was still delicious even for an airport spot. The burger patty was grilled and I think that's what makes it good! I also got the lilikoi cheesecake and it was decent. Please bring your aloha when going inside this spot. The staff are working their behinds off and empathy goes along way.

Use QR code for menu and to order meal.

We wanted a sit down and rest experience vs. a food court and this worked. Not much ambiance, seat yourself and order/pay with QR code link. Thereafter a real human appears. The service was great and the food was surprisingly good. A variety of burgers and chicken Caesar salads. We left full and recharged for our trip home.

The service was pretty good. Intil she loterally stole from us. The food was quick and good. But based on the dishonesty of this restaurant, and the bartender, please beware and I'd never go back We ordered a nacho, a hamburger and 2 short bloody marys. Our bill was 99.00 When looking at the breakdown, they charged us 50.00 for 2, short bloody marys. On the ticket breakdown, she upgraded us to Tito vodka (without asking) , we had no idea, and tjen she charged us for doubles. And we watched her make our drinks they werent doubles and we didn't order doubles! (sidenote: I'm a current bartender and have bartender for 19 years) to do this us unethical and actually illegal in my home state, it's literally stealing. When we asked her about our receipt and the charges shw added, she said "thats how we do it" So in short, the bartender and the restaurant absolutely stole from us. I'll attach my receipt. Don't give them your business, this is a terrible thing to do to tourists and leaves us with a nasty taste in our mouths at the end of our Hawaii trip

Not too shabby for airport food:) pricey but you're in an airport. It's clean and air conditioned. As far as ordering goes, everything on the table is ordered on your phone. Not a bad deal to do it especially if you gotta bust out quick you can just pay the bill and go.

Also had a jug/pitcher of something light, although I can't remember what it was. Tasted just fine. Ordered the following: - Beef tacos - 5/10: shredded beef on a corner tortilla. A little overseasoned I thought. And cheddar cheese should not go on tacos. - Katsu chair siu - 5/10: Normally you'd get this traditional dish in pork or chicken. But they used char siu here. Wasn't working for me. - Fries with char siu on top - 4/10: meh. Char siu and fries don't go well with each other, especially when you drizzle teriyaki-type sauce on top. Too sweet that there's a bit of an imbalance in flavor. They also had open mic karaoke here. Crowd was kinda dead, so we tried to liven them up with a familiar country tune. Didn't work. Oh well. I ordered a few appetizers for the table and those went quickly: calamari, bruschetta, and artichoke dip. Yum! Main entrees followed and everyone seemed to enjoy their selections. We ordered dessert and were disappointed that they ran out of creme brulee...my father ordered the cheesecake and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only reason for not giving five stars has to do with the outdoor seating. I wish the chairs were more comfortable, as we sat there for awhile, waiting for our server to take our large group order along with waiting for food to come out. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE/STALE FOOD/DISRESPECTFUL TOWARDS VETERANS…read more On 7/30/2026, I ate at Shark's Den Bar & Grill because my flight was delayed and, by the time I checked into the Airport Honolulu Hotel, it was already close to 8:00 p.m. I was scheduled for surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center the next morning and had been instructed to stop eating at 9:00 p.m. so I didn't have time to look for another restaurant. As advertised by the business, the restaurant is "located in the Honolulu Airport Hotel." Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. After being seated, a couple who arrived after me were greeted and had their orders taken before anyone acknowledged me. It wasn't a great first impression. I ordered the loco moco and requested the eggs to be cooked over easy. The server then asked how I wanted my hamburger patty cooked, which caught me off guard. I've ordered loco moco many times over the years and had never been asked that before. Seeing my confusion, the server suggested having the burger cooked medium then I agreed. When my meal arrived it was around 8:30 p.m. and the eggs were cooked medium instead of over easy. The bigger issue, however, was the rice. The texture was very inconsistent...some bites were stale and crunchy, others were chewy, and some grains even stuck to my teeth. It gave the impression that the rice wasn't freshly prepared. Given the restaurant's convenient location for airport travelers, I was hoping for a quick, satisfying meal before my surgery. Unfortunately, the questionable service and disappointing food quality made for a less-than-ideal dining experience. I hope they can improve both their service and consistency in the kitchen. This restaurant also advertises having "live music", but on the Thursday night I was there they had karaoke. Restaurants should not advertise karaoke as "live music" because the terms describe two entirely different customer experiences. Update (7/31/2026): After posting this review, the server, Rutilio A., sent a "compliment" to me, here on Yelp, stating: "Questionable service??? (3 laughing emojis) bless your little heart. Please note that unless you are ordering loco moco out of a truck most RESTAURANT that don't serve frozen patties will give you the option on how you would like it cooked. Can't wait to see your review of your surgery. (Thumbs up emoji)" Rutilio's comment to me actually reinforces why I described the service as "questionable." Customer service doesn't end when the check is paid...it also includes how a business and its employees respond to customer feedback. Rather than addressing my concerns about the flawed rice or how customers who arrived after me were greeted and had their orders taken before me, he chose to mock me with laughing emojis, a condescending "bless your little heart," and a sarcastic comment about my surgery. That isn't the response most customers would expect from someone representing a restaurant. His comment became additional evidence supporting my original observation and demonstrated the same lack of professionalism and customer care that led me to describe the service as questionable in the first place and now turns out to be absolute garbage. Rutilo A. definitely does not belong in the hospitality industry. I originally gave this restaurant a 2-star rating, but after the server Rutilio A (using the alias Tillo A.) personally attacked me with his "compliment" here on Yelp, I now give this restaurant a 1-star rating.

Banana Pudding: 0/5…read more I was grabbing breakfast nearby at the Koa Pancake House but I've seen that this place had banana pudding on their menu. So I swung by on my way out to the parking lot for a sweet treat for later. I have to say this is probably one of the worst banana puddings I've ever had. It's one of my favorite desserts so I've had plenty from all over the country. If it's on the menu, there's a 90% chance I'm going to buy it. Their's tastes artificial. The pudding was reminiscent of a snack pack, but something about it made it taste worse. I don't know if it was additional sugar or how long I had been sitting in their fridge, but the pudding was pretty bad. There's maybe three or four nilla wafers on the bottom and one on the top for presentation. For the few wafers on the bottom, there was a slice of banana on top. Potentially totaling maybe three slices. For those slices, though, the banana was not ripe. You could tell the banana slices needed a few more days before use. Overall, I was wildly disappointed. I would highly not recommend their banana pudding, which is such a shame. I wished I loved it but sadly 0/5. The best part of the whole pudding was the 4 soft wafers. If that's the case, that should tell you something.

No need drink, just enjoy good food!

Second and last time coming to this location. We overlooked our first visit when my wife was done…read moreeating and I still hadn't gotten my food yet. It was the weekend and busy. But our second time was a mellow Wednesday for lunch and while the timing was better (still not synced), the food was either meh or completely shameful. Yes, shameful! Wife got the Caesar salad with char siu chicken katsu. The chicken was ono but the salad was lazy. Basic greens with a low-quality bottled sauce squeezed on top. No wonder it came out five minutes before mine. I got the fish tacos with tots (extra $2), and this dish was the most egregious rip off I've ever seen in a restaurant. No wonder the server dropped it and ran. For $18, I got three street taco-sized flour tortillas, goopy mayo-laden "slaw", and pico with a teeny tiny piece of fish on top. See the pics! Smaller than my thumb. Barely two tater tots in size. And because it was plopped into mayo slaw, it was soggy on arrival. The fish was also suspiciously fishy tasting. I debated eating it. I ended up making one taco with all the fish and a potato taco with some tots before finally giving up. I know things are tough for restaurants right now. But this was ridiculous. I paid and left and called it a lesson learned. I'll likely stick to the Pucks Alley location from now on. Still some pride in what they serve there.
