I had a good restaurant experience here before my flight. They have a decent menu with some local favorites. I was there for breakfast and had a banana pancake with coconut syrup and Portuguese sausage. Excellent service and a good place to stay and enjoy a decent meal before flying.

Now here's a shocker. Jamie W and I had good food at an airport. Now here's the predictable part. We kinda paid through the nose. We were leaving Honolulu and found ourselves with extra time on our hands. Avoiding the inevitable fast food options, we came into this surprisingly expansive place. We ended up ordering the same plate, the $26.99 Kalua Pork & Cabbage. With a scoop of rice, it was actually good even though they skimped on the macaroni salad (photo: https://yelp.to/vwVg23AjpI). The exorbitant price tag was what we expected at the airport. So was the indifferent service. Time to go to the gate. FOOD - 4 stars...somebody was doing their job in the kitchen AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...retro-vintage vibe but spacious SERVICE - 3 stars...passing through TOTAL - 4 stars...finding something tasty was a score but expect major kaching RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? I always stop at the Local@HNL when I am leaving Honolulu. This visit, I had the loco moco. It was fantastic and it was what I needed for my AM flight. This is a meal you can eat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The ground meat patty was well seasoned but the gravy and rice with the fried egg on top, was the star of the meal. The bartenders were great. Service was pretty quick as it was AM. Not a large crowd but a good one. I will definitely visit here again

The Local pov: ur hot and kinda sweaty because this aiport doesn't really have AC. you want to sit down for food because you have over an hour for your flight so you stumble into this place. the workers are stressed because it's packed and it feels kinda like a zoo. bags and people everywhere. the servers are trying their best but are being tested by one too many crazy people. it's a little slow but your food and drink aren't terrible. the chicken ceasar salad and flatbread were enjoyable. you people watch the whole time because it's fascinating. thank god there is alcohol...

Good place to eat and kill time before your flight. Burger was good.and there was plenty of fries. It wasn't busy, because of Christmas, and our waitress, Candace was great! I'd rather spend more eating here than getting burger king...

If you find yourself at the airport at lunch time, this is probably your best option, since the food court is pretty sad. We were seated very quickly and service was ok, you order via app with a QR code at the table. The food took a while to arrive, luckily we had time, but if you're short on time maybe make sure it's not too busy. We got a burger, fish and chips and the loco moco, everything was very good.

For an airport restaurant - I give a thumbs up. The Mahi Mahi tacos were really good, and not to heavy. Good sauce and salsa on them. The Chicken pineapple quesadilla was fantastic. I got a bite or two, my wife gobbled it up. The lillikoi cheesecake was bomb! So good. Our server Jeannie was friendly, andvsuoer hard working. Well come back next time we have a layover here.

Airport hunger... Once we get through the crowds of checkin and the torturous settings at the TSA check points and security you're free to wander your hearts desire of the airport and there not much choice to be honest and decided to give The Local a look...Rustic Market to be precise. Located right outside of TSA 3 which is basically in the middle of the airport I noticed an unmanned area and it is exactly what it is a place that's all grab and go of snacks and drinks, just scan pay and go which is super cool and interesting though I didn't really see prices anywhere and didn't want to browse as I basically had no intention to buy and pay airport prices. Cool yet strange concept I assume for folks who don't want to deal with the long lines in the shops and restaurants. Thank you!

Honestly didn't expect such a GOOD meal at the airport. Banana pancakes are my go to in the islands and they didn't disappoint. Had a Bloody Mary as well, a lil pricey but hit the spot. Our server was hard pressed but took care of us and checked back in a timely manner. They understaff, it appears, but it's an airport restaurant.... Beautiful garden adjacent so the view was outstanding vs other airports I've been to. Bar seating just as good as table.

The service was pretty good. Intil she loterally stole from us. The food was quick and good. But based on the dishonesty of this restaurant, and the bartender, please beware and I'd never go back We ordered a nacho, a hamburger and 2 short bloody marys. Our bill was 99.00 When looking at the breakdown, they charged us 50.00 for 2, short bloody marys. On the ticket breakdown, she upgraded us to Tito vodka (without asking) , we had no idea, and tjen she charged us for doubles. And we watched her make our drinks they werent doubles and we didn't order doubles! (sidenote: I'm a current bartender and have bartender for 19 years) to do this us unethical and actually illegal in my home state, it's literally stealing. When we asked her about our receipt and the charges shw added, she said "thats how we do it" So in short, the bartender and the restaurant absolutely stole from us. I'll attach my receipt. Don't give them your business, this is a terrible thing to do to tourists and leaves us with a nasty taste in our mouths at the end of our Hawaii trip

Use QR code for menu and to order meal.

We wanted a sit down and rest experience vs. a food court and this worked. Not much ambiance, seat yourself and order/pay with QR code link. Thereafter a real human appears. The service was great and the food was surprisingly good. A variety of burgers and chicken Caesar salads. We left full and recharged for our trip home.

I can understand why this spot has some mixed reviews and I think it's partly because of the service... I think post pandemic, Hawaii is still trying to get workers/staff back into work and it's very prominent that's the case at this place. It seemed like all the staff were serving far more tables than workers. My family and I sat in the front table and our server seemed like she's already over the day and it was the peak of lunch time. We all ordered loco moco and believe it or not, it was still delicious even for an airport spot. The burger patty was grilled and I think that's what makes it good! I also got the lilikoi cheesecake and it was decent. Please bring your aloha when going inside this spot. The staff are working their behinds off and empathy goes along way.

Not too shabby for airport food:) pricey but you're in an airport. It's clean and air conditioned. As far as ordering goes, everything on the table is ordered on your phone. Not a bad deal to do it especially if you gotta bust out quick you can just pay the bill and go.

She agreed and was presented with the hair free 8.50 version. It is common practice to not only provide the option of replacing the product for the customer but to remove the charge for the hair laced food from the bill. This action not only expresses the restaurants remorse but signifies their desire to keep you as a returning customer. Unfortunately this did not occur nor was any Kama' Aina discount applied (resident discount). As I looked around wondering where it was due to how pretty the arrangement of the bento and how tasty it looked, I had to ask the couple where they got it from. I had to ask them about their bento, as soon as I heard crispy ahi rolls, pancit, and a brownie, I was sold. Folks, this is no regular bento. This is a bento made to order with love that will have you feeling like a champ after consumption. The pancit was made perfectly, not too dry, not too wet. The texture and taste of the freshly cooked pancit is a force to reckon with. The perfectly crispy spicy ahi rolls was so killer, I was sad to have noticed I ate it all and ran out. Could easily mop another 4 of these buggas. The brownie at the end, the cherry on top, did not disappoint. The texture was so smooth, not too overpowered with sweetness yet not too weak to notice. Didn't even need to pound water to put it down. The brownie, she go! I was even given a nicely chilled banana poi bread at no charge, which is literally winners. This bento was the ideal choice to pick up. I cannot wait to come back with my wife and daughter. Do not sleep on this place. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed!
