Banh Mi, Stew, and Pokemon. I dread going to Costco... HOWEVER!!! Being able to come here and get a delicious Banh Mi or Beef Stew has completely shifted my way of thinking. I love going to costco now because it gives me reason to come here... I can feed my addiction to good food then treat myself to a pack of Pokemon or One Piece at the nearby stores! Nothing like sipping delicious iced tea while ripping packs on a full stomach out of the hot sun. Thanks OlenaHi! read more

Fantastic, five-star food from Chef Ron Simon of OlenaHi! Run, don't walk, to this unassuming cafė, located in the Dole Cannery Food Court, just across the street from Regal Dole Cannery Movie Theatre! Yesterday, our family was super-hungry after the movies and thought we'd give the place a whirl. We arrived 20 minutes before closing time, but Rose, the chef's wife, graciously took our order anyway and treated us like long-lost family! Delectable Southeast Asian and Filipino-inflected food, skillfully crafted to highlight the fresh ingredients! Check the menu for daily specials; ongoing offerings include bowls with different protein options, pickled veggies, salad, and rice; banh mi, beverages, and various desserts. We sampled a wide assortment of food and unanimously agreed everything was delicious: banh mi with lemongrass tofu, banh mi with tender, flavorful brisket, crisp truffle-parmesan fries. I loved my lemongrass chicken bowl: extremely flavorful and bright marinade, moist chicken, topped with (I think!) crispy shallots, and served with a generous helping of Vietnamese-style do chua: pickled carrots and daikon, on a base of pristine mesclun greens with a side of wonderful tangy, creamy Asian-style dressing (had turmeric, sesame, rice vinegar, and maybe a touch of miso in it?) and aromatic, mouthwatering `olena rice: coconut rice seasoned with turmeric, cinnamon, lemongrass, and cloves. The plantation iced tea and Filipino lemonade were wonderful, but for something even more special, try the refreshing Royal Filipino Lemonade, made with caramelized diced fresh pineapple, calamansi, and butterfly pea: beautiful to behold and to sip! As a family that loves to cook, we're super-picky about our banana bread, but the banana-poi bites were splendid: not overly sweet and perfectly springy, with just the right hint of vanilla to complement the fresh banana and taro flavors. We took home a delicious vegetarian soba salad for later! Food is available to take out or eat in the A/C food court, and OlenaHi also does catering. We'll definitely return and enthusiastically recommend this business. Hawai`i and the world need more restaurants like OlenaHi, where you can enjoy fabulous food and outstanding, personable service, served up with a generous helping of warm, local-style aloha: a rare gem! read more

I was walking around the food court here looking for something to eat when I seen a couple sitting down with what appeared to be a bento. As I looked around wondering where it was due to how pretty the arrangement of the bento and how tasty it looked, I had to ask the couple where they got it from. They pointed to olena's literally 5 feet away from me (so podagee). As I went in, I was greeted with such aloha that warms you to your core like a nice sunny day at the beach. I had to ask them about their bento, as soon as I heard crispy ahi rolls, pancit, and a brownie, I was sold. Folks, this is no regular bento. This is a bento made to order with love that will have you feeling like a champ after consumption. The pancit was made perfectly, not too dry, not too wet. The texture and taste of the freshly cooked pancit is a force to reckon with. The perfectly crispy spicy ahi rolls was so killer, I was sad to have noticed I ate it all and ran out. Could easily mop another 4 of these buggas. The brownie at the end, the cherry on top, did not disappoint. The texture was so smooth, not too overpowered with sweetness yet not too weak to notice. Didn't even need to pound water to put it down. The brownie, she go! I was even given a nicely chilled banana poi bread at no charge, which is literally winners. This bento was the ideal choice to pick up. I cannot wait to come back with my wife and daughter. Do not sleep on this place. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed! read more

Highly suggest supporting this small business. Rose is so pleasant and helpful about menu items, and suggestions on what to order. The portions are huge. The offerings so very gourmet. The seating is in the dole courtyard. Everything we ordered was tasty and portions are substantial. Parking is validated for 2 hours at the dole cannery theater lot. We ordered lemon grass bahn mi, fries, combo brownie bread, and the herbal purple tea. For $35 everything is reasonable because of the portions and taste. Bahn mi on warm French bread topped with lemon grass chicken and pickled daikon. So delicious full of flavor. French fries came out piping hot. Herbal tea was so refreshing. The dessert didn't last. We finished it right after lunch. Banana bread was so moist. Chicken was probably marinated with fish sauce which created a flavorful dish. So good. Will definitely come back to and return to try everything on the menu. read more

Their food is truly delicious! My favorites - blackened ahi sandwich (best I have ever had), salmon soba salad, any special dish Ron prepares with salmon, shrimp or pork, brownie bites, banana bread with chocolate chips, their cupcakes, soy matcha latte, and the list goes on. Ron, Rose, and Wendy are so warm and welcoming - it is always a delight to see them. They always have my pick-up fresh and hot when I arrive. Many folks enjoy their meals in the Food Court also. Parking in front of Dole Food Court makes pick-up quick and easy. I love supporting a wonderful local business run by lovely people! read more

Will definitely bring all my friends and family here! I'm not normally a fan of loco moco because it makes me SO SLEEPY after eating it, but this loco moco was different! It contains no gluten/flour and the sauce is a red wine sauce that is so flavorful and light! I didn't feel stuffed or tired afterwards. The customer service was out of this world and so friendly. If you're ever in the area it would be a shame to miss out on this gem of a restaurant! Elevated dining in a casual setting. read more

Love, love, love!!! This is such an amazing place to come here in the Dole Cannery where it's truly peaceful. 'Olena by Chef Ron Simon is amazing! It's high quality HEALTHY food is fine dining cuisine for take out with reasonable prices, too. Trust me since I've dined many fancy upscale places that leave you hungry and poor. It's starts with amazing staff like Rose and Ron, and Wendy too that will serve to you in the chill food indoor court area. Today's special was chicken confit with a mushroom reduction sauce along with silky smooth mashed potatoes and mixed fresh salad. I love that they have dressing in the side in a container for us who just loves it plain. Plus don't forget to grab their awesome and yummy drinks too like their Filipino Royale with Butterfly Tea and lemonade made with calamari. Better yet, take one or a couple for dinner to go for the Ohana! My go to favorite is their red wine reduction beef stew that it literally "broke da mouth"!!! Food coma, baby...not really bc it's healthy. Love how everything comes out hot and fresh and the staff knows your name...and most of all, mouth savoring and healthy all in one. So come try it but remember that they only open from 11am-2pm, ok... Bon Appetite! read more

I had been wanting to try this place since they were on Republican St about 5 years ago but never made it. Today I unexpectedly got to check it out after I literally went "window shopping" for windows at Dole Cannery. I was hungry for something better than a Costco hotdog and recalled Olena was there but not exactly sure where. I was happy to find it located right in the middle of the food court. This cozy and bustling little take out place, had a constant flow of customers going in and out. The menu is simple in that there are not a lot of items but it does cover all the bases with different proteins including lemongrass organic tofu, lemongrass chicken, adobo pork belly, and prime beef brisket. You can get your choice in a banh mi sandwich, on rice , or salad. If you don't feel like a sandwich, they have stew, fish and chips, and soba noodle salad you can grab and go as a healthy option. They also offer baked goods and a variety of fresh drinks displayed in their fridge. Chef Ron's wife, Rose, is a hoot! Full of energy and personality, she can explain each dish and drink in great detail. She informed me that the Filipino lemonade, made with freshly squeezed calamansi and tiny chopped up pineapple is great for digestion. I was all ready to order it until I spied the beautiful purple and yellow Royal Filipino Lemonade. She said it was made with locally grown butterfly pea and even demonstrated how mixing the blue liquid with the yellow calamansi pineapple immediately turned a beautiful violet! I like my drinks watered down so after diluting it with some water it was even better! I got the lemongrass chicken banh mi. She was right about the bahn mi bread being crispy but soft and not sharp so it wouldn't cut your mouth. I liked how I could taste the freshness of each ingredient, i.e, pickled daikon, carrots, and onions, cilantro, and cucumbers. I love Olena's motto : Eat Better Feel Better! Food that's good for the body and soul is the best! read more

Last time I tried Olena's was when they were in the Kalihi district. I didn't realize that they had moved to their current location until recently which is a much better location. Love their fish n chips as the fish is always fresh and the batter is nice and crispy but not too much batter! It was so good I started eating it in the car!! The tartar sauce is also good as you gotta ask for extra! Yesterday, I was hungry and wanted to try their pork belly adobo. It was good and not over bearing with vinegar. The only criteria I had was, I should have had them separate the toss greens because the hot pork belly wilted my salad. I chose the Olena rice and that was good! You know the food is great when they have their regulars and the Mrs knows each customer by their names!!! The food is great but nothing like excellent friendly customer service!!! read more

A must when I visit Oahu. I typically visit Oahu once a year and each time, I make sure to stop by Olena's for some delicious foods and desserts. The banh mi and fries are delicious and made to order. Their banana bread is so good, my friends and I order it frozen to bring back to California with us. Their dishes are excellent and reasonably priced too. Beef brisket is one of the best ever had not the traditional BBQ type more of Asian/southern BBQ fusion. Hard to explain just gotta try and will see what I mean. Beef is super tender. Beef stew is another excellent choice. Think of it as a fancy enchanced version of local beef with tender beef and unique flavors and spices. A must try. read more

I think I'll start this review off with: Rose is AMAZING! Her enthusiasm is infectious and she really adds FLAVOR to your experience. That said, EVERYONE here is so hospitable. They truly amassed a wonderful collection of people. I feel like every single time I've been here, they've blown me away by going the extra mile and putting a smile on my face. Special shout-out to the son who made the day extra special for my mom when her preferred drink was sold out. Okay okay, but this is a FOOD review. And I can't wait to rave about their Loco Moco which is only available on Saturdays! First things first, I gotta be honest and rave about their grass-fed beef. The patty was EXCELLENT and I know I know, Rose is gonna say that the red wine sauce in place of the gravy is the chef's kiss (and it really is so good I forgot loco mocos with gravy existed in the first place) but I gotta say the patty was delicious and done perfectly. So if that's anything to go by... you can BET I'm gonna try their burger next... which is also a Saturday Special. Now the ambiance... well, you see, it's a take-out place inside a food court/mini-mall. Is the place clean? Yes! Is the place safe? Yes! Do I wish I could eat this gourmet food on a nice plate with real silverware? Also yes!!! But you know what, the food is good, the price is good, and the service is stellar so I feel greedy if I ask for more. Their take-out boxes are legit anyways. OH! Get their ROYAL Filipino Lemonade and get their banana bread bites! SO ONO! Last visited March 15, 2025 but can't wait to go back again! read more

A hidden gem located in Dole Cannery! I ordered the fish and chips and it was one of the best fish and chips on this island! There were big pieces of crispy fish that were nice and flaky. I upgraded to truffle fries and that was a good call! The fries were thin and crispy and had big pieces of Parmesan cheese on top. The lady taking my order was very friendly and even brought it out to me while I was waiting outside. The food came out quickly too so that was a plus. I would come here again for the fish and chips! The other dishes on their menu look tasty too so wouldn't mind trying something different as well. read more

Can't believe it took me so long to discover this gem. Tucked away in the Dole Cannery Food Court and across from Regal Cinemas, this cute little mom-n-pop serves up some delicious Asian-inspired fare. You can see and taste the care & love that's put into making the food with each bite you take. I tried their popular lemongrass chicken banh mi, made to eat on-the-spot with the toasty bread, delectable fried onions crisps, refreshing veggies, and perfectly marinated chicken. Cannot wait to try all the other dishes like their beef stew, chicken pot pie, poi breads, etc. Don't forget to wash your meal down with a handcrafted ice tea or calamansi lemonade beverage. Rose is the BEST, most welcoming, and friendliest person. The establishment is clean and tidy, prices are fair for the quality you get. Once you try Olena's, you're All-In! read more

Love the food here no matter what it is. I'm just not into the really salty and fried stuff that seems to be a common theme in Hawaii. And although I'm not into oily stuff either I got their Philly which is a lot different than what you would expect from other Philly sandwiches in a good way. There's a good mix of veggies and as usual it didn't put me to sleep but boy was I stuffed. And unlike other places I don't get an allergic reaction from all the salt and flavorings they use elsewhere. Just simple and fresh ingredients. read more

Now this place is on another level in my opinion. I've been reading the reviews on here about this place and just found this place by accident, unfortunately everything was closing at the time so I promised myself to come back here. The adobo pork belly bowl was the favorite. The fish and chips with mahi mahi was also solid with the tartar sauce. Located in the Dole Cannery on the ground floor across the street from Regal Theater. They have parking at Dole Cannery and they validate for 2 hours or parking at Costco parking. My wife loves fish & chips and the reviews of the fish and chips were all 5 stars, so decided to take her there. She didn't care for the fish and chip, because it had some of the blood part still on so it was bitter and they use mahi mahi instead of cod. I had the Ba min made with lemon grass chicken, which was good, but could use some fresh jalapeño slices, the bun was excellent it was nice and crispy and soft on the inside. The staff were very friendly and nice. You cannot go wrong (if you bring cash) Don't let the title fool you. They take card but charge a percentage fee. Bring cash and save some change. I remember what my great friend Terri told me; " Good food ain't cheap and cheap food ain't good" that doesn't apply here because it's GREAT food. I have nothing to say but everything here is amazing. I come here often, that the only problem I have is deciding what to eat. All the portions are large enough to make sure you leave full or at least with something to take home. There's plenty of seating available on the food court area and there are people to bust the tables. Overall five stars. Salmon soba... Mind blown!!!! You can certainly find the rainbow here in Dole Cannery Food Court at 'ŌlenaHi by Chef Ron Simon. Never have I tried a soba salad with "fresh" salmon and gosh how he packs it with so much flavor and texture is quite insane. You already had me at soba but when I hear salmon that's the bougie cherry on top and to call it a salad is an understatement as it's packed with so much including kamaboko, carrots, ocean salad, egg, and organic Waipoli Greens from Maui topped with fresh salmon. The sesame sauce has tumeric which gives it that golden glow and the flavor it gives is so delicate yet explosive I'm in love. Shop is cozy but is filled with so much baked goods as well from Banana Poi Bread to Red Velvet Cupcakes how is it that I've never know it existed! Parking at the Cannery with at Costco or across the street is free so it's easy to have a wonderful treat that's healthy as well. Thank you! read more

They open at 11am, but answered the phone at 9am which was great! I was preparing for a lunch meeting that day, and had questions about the menu and wanted to prepare them in advance since this is a small location. The person I spoke with happily obliged and said to call back when I have my orders. I was concerned about not having enough of a particular item, but she took my order before they opened, I called back at 10am. She actually prefer on-line orders, but that was impossible for me at that time. First time here, and they spoke to me like I was a regular, super helpful, and so friendly! They had my orders all packed up and in a brown paper bag with easy to carry handles. The beef stew order was also packaged separately and securely in a it's own plastic bag, in-case of spillage. The beef stew was delicious, good ratio of beef, to vegetables. The beef was so soft, the vegetables cooked perfectly. Nice flavor, not too salty, good amount of soup. The rice, and toss greens was in its own compartment, and the salad dressing in its own container. I appreciate their thoughtfulness in nicely packing our orders! The chicken lemongrass bowl was the favorite of the lunch meeting crowd. Some of them requested to substitute white rice for the 'Olena yellow rice. It must have been good because there was no leftovers or waste. My boss is a small eater, and took the leftovers back to her desk and ate the rest after the meeting. 'Olena by Chef Ron Simon is located at the Dole Cannery Shops on the ground floor, next door to Subway. Entrance to the parking area is on Pacific Street, look for the bright yellow parking structure. I love it when I'm able to provide a good lunch for our work meeting!
