Dixie Grill has been around for years and it's also been many years since I've been there. The interior is brighter and nicer than I remembered. Although we got take out this time, I wouldn't mind dining in sometime. My bf and I shared a 3 meat, 2 side bbq plate, with the following selections: - brisket - pulled pork - sausage - cornbread - baked beans The meats were okay. Not amazing but not bad at the same time. It came with a small container of bbq sauce. My bf liked the cornbread but I thought it was a little dry. The baked beans literally just tasted like the canned baked beans, which isn't necessarily a bad thing I guess lol. I wouldn't mind trying it again but probably wouldn't get the bbq again. First time visiting and I had a great experience! First of all, the 32 oz Screamin' Mai Tai is MASSIVE. Definitely worth ordering at least once for the experience because wow... you'll feel it lol I also appreciated that they have a dedicated allergy menu, which made ordering so much easier. I tried the brisket and thought it was tender and flavorful. Some bites were a little fattier than I personally prefer, but overall it was good and not overly saucey. This was a very disappointing dining experience from start to finish. The food was dry and underwhelming, but the service was the biggest issue. Our waitress repeatedly got our order wrong. Half of our party didn't receive their meals, while dishes we never ordered were brought to our table instead. We found ourselves constantly asking for basic items like silverware, napkins, and barbecue sauce because they were never brought out or only had a few at the table. The restaurant is open-air, so be prepared for a warm and humid dining experience. On the day of our visit, it was uncomfortable enough that it took away from the overall experience. The one bright spot was the manager. He was attentive, cleared our table throughout the meal, apologized for the issues, and removed a couple of items from our bill in an effort to make things right. I genuinely appreciated that he stepped in and did what he could. Unfortunately, one manager can't make up for consistently poor service and dry food. I hope the restaurant invests more in training because this visit fell well below expectations, and I won't be returning. read more

After finding several other lunch places closed, we happened upon Dixie Grill. It's a great place to stop into and we were made to feel welcome right away. Very relaxed & casual atmosphere! We had Pigs Tail Mac & cheese and 3-meat bbq with green beans, mashed potatoes, & okra. The food was all very tasty! My husband loved the meatloaf with cheese-smoky flavor and a nice seared edge. The sausage was yummy, too The pork on top of the Mac & Cleese had a great flavor, too. We shared fried okra. It was crispy and came with a great sauce. We enjoyed our lunch & think you will, too. Wow, I have no words. I'm writing this as my wife and I are sitting here for 20 minutes and no one has even come up to us.... I counted 2 tables have been addressed before us that came in after we had sat down... I had to grab the bus boy just to start making us water! My most recent experience this past weekend has me regretting it lol Had lunch with some of the homies here this past weekend for a birthday. We specifically chose this place because of their special limited time Mardi Gras menu and it did not disappoint. I've never had the luxury of having a shrimp po boy despite always seeing it on TV and social media. I'm definitely not a New Orleans food expert but I know a tasty sandwich when I taste one. The po boy had really great bread, the shrimp was battered nicely and it came with crispy lettuce and tomatoes. The creamy sauce put it all together and made the sandwich even better! A couple of my friends ordered their jambalaya and brisket sandwiches. Forgive me for not snapping photos, I was uncharacteristically locked in on trying the food that I actually forgot lol. Both the jambalaya and brisket was packed with flavor! The price point of everything imo has to be the best deal for this type of food around. The service was quick and served with aloha, solid job. I used to love this place and it's been about 5 yrs or more since I've been here. Sadly, this visit will be my last as it was highly disappointing! First of all, I came in here because of an advertisement I saw on IG for the Crabfest in Oct 2025. The Crabfest is only weekly specials for the month of October and nothing really special. I feel the advertisement did not explain enough of what Crabfest meant for this business. We ordered a Crabfest bucket to share(party of two). The bucket costs a little over $200 and it comes with 1/2 lb of Dungeness, snow, and king crab with shrimp, fried soft shell crab, corn, sausage, and potatoes. They had no corn and offered to substitute it with another side, which ended up being fries (NO CORN FOR A SEAFOOD BOIL BUCKET ?!). The king crab should have been thrown out the night before, it was stale and tasted off. The potatoes were hard, the sausage could have been cooked longer, the seafood should have been hotter than how it was served. The establishment needs to be more attentive to how the food is served and its temperatures. The prices are not worth the food quality or amount on the dishes. I do not recommend this establishment as there are better options for seafood on the island. read more

I'm not normally one to come back and update a few times. But this really deserves it. The business reached out to me in the kindest way to apologize for what happened on our visit. We went back a couple times and enjoyed their bbq. Their bbq and sides are fantastic. Their corn bread can't be beat! I'm still a little afraid to try things off the actual menu, but again, the bbq is amazing, so I don't see a reason to. The service had seemed to get better, and that was so nice to see. It had redeemed itself so much that when a last minute promotion came up, and we needed a place that could hold 30+ people easily, I gave them a call. Ivory was so kind and helpful! She made sure we were all good to go, and let us pre order appetizers to come out as soon as people were showing up. They reserved the entire back patio for us. 37 people showed up, and we had the best time. The service was amazing. The food we pre ordered came out right on time, and was delicious! They checked in so often to make sure that all was good. Truly wonderful service. I'm really glad we have it another shot. We will be back. read more

I came here for the crab fest but was disappointed because 3 of the items were sold out. I ended up ordering snow crab and king crab and skipped on the dungeness crab since that's too much work to eat. I came around 2:30pm and all the seats inside were taken so we sat on a table in the patio. The patio is covered but it got real hot with the afternoon so some of us got a tan on our back and legs. The staff took a very long time to take our drink order and when they finally took it, we waited another 15 minutes to get the drinks. We weren't a big group so it was odd that it would take that long for drinks. We ordered our food and waited another 30 minutes. The food came out and it was hot so that's good. The snow crab was very good but the king crab was overcooked and it was dry. We're just glad we had butter so we drenched the king crab meat. Their prices are reasonable but they need to work on their service and the bar and kitchen needs to speed it up. I wish they cleared the tables quicker so we could have moved inside instead of sitting on the patio. read more

We had a really fun visit to Dixie Grill while watching the eating contest with Raina Huang! My mom, my son, and I enjoyed some food along with the event. My mom had the chicken fried steak with sausage gravy, paired with cheesy grits and mashed potatoes. Every part of her plate was delicious -- a true comfort meal. Our son had the mac n' cheese with French fries, which was wonderful to see made in-house (he has some picky allergies, so this was a huge plus!). I tried the Crab Cake Burger with a side of fries (I substituted regular fries for the sweet potato fries). While the burger itself was a bit bland and dry, requiring extra mayo and wishing for lemon wedges at the end, the overall experience was still enjoyable. One odd thing: my son's fries portion was about double mine! The restaurant was lively, and the event made the visit extra fun. I'm excited to come back and try more of their menu -- their fish and chips looked amazing at a neighboring table. Well...if I happened to have picked a time to go out on my birthday, today was that day. This time, I went to take my family over to Dixie Grill, and this time tried something different there. It was pretty busy, but you can certainly tell it was no ordinary Saturday, given how many people were eating at the time. The appetizers weren't too bad. We ended up getting the shrimp and the fried okra. The okra was very addictive and the shrimp was nice. Last time I remembered coming here, it was for the catfish. That time, I ate the 1/2 rack of ribs with coleslaw and brussel sprouts. And from first impression, it looked nice to want to dig in. My family had ordered a bunch of different stuff. My sister got the catfish, my mom got the crab cake, and my dad ordered the brisket. Overall, it was not a bad return to this place. Once again, Dixie Grill delivers on the food. Not bad at all. Maybe next time, I should consider trying out one of their desserts because it would have been nice to enjoy my birthday on a good note. Friend ordered burger and fries and I ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs with coleslaw and Brussel sprouts as my sides. Friend liked her burger, they brought 6 different bbq sauces to our table to try. We did a mini tastings of the sauces on her fries. I have a mixed review on my rib meal. Really liked the Brussel sprouts, tasty seasons. Cole slaw average, would have liked it with a little more vinegar flavor. Ribs were on dry side, overcooked, I was disappointed with them. We ordered food to take home to our husbands. It was my first time here, and I ordered the Big Ed burger. Overall, the flavor was good. I liked the brisket! However, the bacon tasted a little burnt. The burger was also a little dry, and I felt like there could have been some sauce or something to balance out all the meats. I also felt like the serving of fries was a little underwhelming. I love southern food and Dixie grill almost hits the spot. I love that they have Cheerwine, but I wish they had more sauces for their meats and sandwiches. I think an Alabama white sauce would be perfect with the brisket or turkey. My husband loved the banana pudding and would highly recommend. From the Happy Hour menu, we ordered the Beer-Battered Onion Rings with Sriracha Sauce for $7 and Fried Calamari with Pepperoncini & BBQ Aioli for $11. When people order catfish, they want to taste the fish with light batter and not the other way around. Wished the fish was thicker. Under "Hot from the Smoker", my husband ordered the Turkey with 2 sides...BBQ Baked Beans and Mashers & Gravy for $19. For the amount of food that was given, it was like a child's portion. It didn't satisfy him so I gave him half of a catfish. Would never order this again! This is a regular place for us, but our first crabfest so we were excited about it. Two of us had the she-crab bisque. It had a lot of crab meat and was pretty filling. I am a sucker for deviled eggs but didn't care for these fried ones with sauce. The artichoke dip was good. My husband got the buttermilk pie and he liked it, but my two bites tasted like freezer burn or how things taste when they are stored uncovered in a refrigerator. I should've gotten the key lime pie because I've always liked it there before. I always like the big cokes here and service was great as usual. hm....been more than over a year since we've been here. Decided to change up our regular Friday night spot and come here for drinks with friends for a party of 11. We were seated outside (covered), which is nice. There was a little area for the young kiddies to play while the adults can enjoy our time together. But our server, the attitude like we are inconveniencing her. The rolling of eyes and the tone was unnecessary. I was polite with my "please" and "thank you" when placing orders or asking for more napkins/utensils. When receiving the tab, we were surprised with the automatic 20% gratuity added. It would be more understanding with 15-18% but it's 20%. It is what it is. Perhaps we must've missed the little fine print on the menu that mentioned about it. I've been frequently this place for over twenty years, and always loved the food and charm of the place. It's the Southern atmosphere that makes the place unique on Oahu, there's no other place similar. A big part of that atmosphere is the music selection. In the past they've usually played Southern Rock and Country, or at least had it in the mix. The past year or so though, every time I go in, it's hip hop or pop on the sound system. I can go to dozens of other establishments on Oahu and hear that plus get decent food. A big part of why I go to DG, is not to hear that! Bartenders join is fine if there's nobody in the place, please bring back the Country music when there's customers, or at least get an electric juke box, so we can mix it up a little. read more

Our group was taken care of by awesome servers who regularly checked on us. Our food and drinks arrived quickly and my pulled pork sandwich was delicious! I had fun taste testing my sandwich with the 6 different barbeque sauces they offered. They offer catering and can accommodate group reservations and private parties. After getting tattoos we ordered food to go. The fries were super crispy and well salted. Just wish I had more. I ordered a burger with brisket on top. I didn't get the brisket and that was disappointing BUT the burger was still amazing. My BIL got a burger with mac. The Mac was good...probably cuz it tasted like Kraft Mac n cheese, which everyone loves, right? My sis got the grilled turkey with avocado. She said was good. Only issue was when you get a hot grilled sandwich home it is soft and no longer crispy. Not their fault tho. The biggest disappointment was the banana pudding. The pics looked amazing. What I got was not. I paid $9,00 for the pudding expecting a good size portion. What I got was a joke. A tiny cup to go that looked NOTHING like the pic and was about 1/3 the size. And the pudding was runny, like soup. I put it in the frig for the night but it was still soupy after being chilled all night. Super disappointed.
