Service was very friendly and accommodating. The counter person explain how to order also asked if we needed more bbq sauce. I ordered their single order BBQ ribs plate . Their plates normally come with coleslaw and 1 side. Since I normally don't eat coleslaw I asked the counter person if I can substitute. She replied no problem so I got baked beans and corn. Banana Pudding: 0/5 I was grabbing breakfast nearby at the Koa Pancake House but I've seen that this place had banana pudding on their menu. So I swung by on my way out to the parking lot for a sweet treat for later. I have to say this is probably one of the worst banana puddings I've ever had. It's one of my favorite desserts so I've had plenty from all over the country. If it's on the menu, there's a 90% chance I'm going to buy it. Their's tastes artificial. The pudding was reminiscent of a snack pack, but something about it made it taste worse. I don't know if it was additional sugar or how long I had been sitting in their fridge, but the pudding was pretty bad. There's maybe three or four nilla wafers on the bottom and one on the top for presentation. For the few wafers on the bottom, there was a slice of banana on top. Potentially totaling maybe three slices. For those slices, though, the banana was not ripe. You could tell the banana slices needed a few more days before use. Overall, I was wildly disappointed. I would highly not recommend their banana pudding, which is such a shame. I wished I loved it but sadly 0/5. The best part of the whole pudding was the 4 soft wafers. On our weekly outing I told my brother and husband let's try ribs for lunch. Located in the moanalua shopping ctr area we went. I had the rib plate comes with Cole slaw and 1 choice side. My brother had the same thing with me. My husband had combo plate ribs snd brisket. The ribs were tender came off the bones when pulling it off. The beans were alittle salty to me. This place has been around forever. We always pass it, but have never ate here. We decided to try it out today as we were by the Moanalua Shopping Center. The first thing I have to say is that the workers are super nice and friendly, especially the man cashiering in the front. He kept asking us if we needed anything. He offered more bbq sauce and gave us wet wipes. I have to give 5 stars for the service. The food was ok. I got the single item bbq plate $20. I got the ribs with baked beans and corn. My husband got the smokehouse salad $16. He got the smoked turkey with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, corn, onions, shredded cheese, topped with bbq and ranch dressing. My ribs were dry and were far from falling off the bone. We got both the original and sweet bbq sauces. I liked the sweet better. It had a hint of spiciness to it. The only items that were hot was the Baked Beans and the Corn. The meat and the mac & cheese were room temperature... that ruined the experience for me. We heard the cashier offer BBQ sauce to other customers, "spicy, mild, or sweet). We weren't offered any sauce. I was looking around for a condiment area, but only found salt and pepper shakers. My friend asked for sauce and was offered spicy or mild. All three of us got the mild sauce which was a bit tangy. When we heard that there was a sweet sauce, my friend stood up again to ask for the sweet sauce and only got one container. Later, my friend asked for hand wipes. The staff pointed to a can of wipes. I ordered the Double meat plate which comes with two sides. I chose brisket and ribs... and corn and slaw. The sauce made the tender meats flavorful. The slaw could use more seasoning. The corn was great! Overall, it was a filling and pleasant experience. We chatted for a while before the staff started to put chairs on the tables at 7pm. This restaurant is supposed to close at 8pm. Friendly service but just average bbq. I got the one choice plate with brisket and rice and tater salad for my sides. The brisket was pretty dry and didn't have much flavor without the bbq sauce. The tater salad was really good though and had a lot of dill flavor. My coworker got a two choice plate and got double brisket but only got one more piece of brisket than the single choice plate. Some other coworkers got the mac and cheese for their side and said it was just ok. My husband & I used to go here frequently. In the past the customer service was great & the food was good. We were quite disappointed on our last visit and haven't wanted to return since. On our last visit they had the new screen where the customer inputs their own order. The prices increased... & there's now up-charges to get brisket. I got their Mac n cheese bowl. It was pretty pricey and only had a little meat on top. Also, the workers were saying some inappropriate things that we could hear. I do understand they may need to make more $ and it's hard for restaurants to survive...especially in Hawaii with all the overhead costs. But, for the food we got we won't be happily returning. The pork and brisket were on the dry side, I would blame it on being under a heater for the day but I went around 11am, so it shouldn't have tasted as dry as it was. Mac n cheese was average. I was really excited to try this place because I've been wanting to go for awhile. Went around 4p -n- was excited that it was Happy Hour. We weren't greeted when we walked in (no one else was there), but the cashier was very nice when she rang us up. We got the burnt ends with a side of Mac -n- cheese, the pork sliders, a pork taco, -n- the brisket taco. We also got the banana pudding. Sad to say, the food was just...meh. I got the Brisket, Sausage, and Smoked Chicken Quarter leg. My sides that I selected were the Baked Beans, and Mustard Dill Potato Salad. This meal also comes with a roll. Unfortunately, the brisket was extremely dry, maybe it was the slices that I got or the time of day. I've tasted better. Fortunately the Sausages and the Chicken Quarter leg was juicy. I really enjoyed the Chicken Quarter legs smokiness and tenderness, as well. The side of Baked Beans were good. The potato salad was average tasting. I enjoyed the sides of BBQ sauce. I got 3 sauces, Sweet, BBQ, and Spicy BBQ. It enhanced the dryness of the Brisket. It went well with the sausages and Smoky Chicken Quarter leg as well. The service at TEX 808 was excellent. While the food here is decent and some of the staff are genuinely helpful and welcoming, the overall environment is not family-friendly. ​During our visit, vapes were left unattended on tables where my kids could easily reach them, and employees were vaping right by the kitchen entrance. On top of that, the strong smell of marijuana on several workers was overwhelming. A friend of mine visited recently and ran into the exact same issue with the staff. ​The helpful employees deserve credit, but management seriously needs to address the lack of professionalism and safety standards regarding vape and substance use around customers. Top rate! Uncle was so welcoming and the food was excellent. The spice rub on the ribs was mean! They were juicy and flavorful. Each item, even the sides, were well made and work together in concert to create the perfect flavor balance. The beans were seasoned well with had a ton of pork and the Mac and cheese used a high ratio of cheese that create a dense, decadent balance. The different barbecue sauces were all so delicious. Hubby loved the spicy, I was all about the tart and baby, the sweet one. I have to agree with previous reviewers, the music is awesome and the staff were so nice. Growing up and as a grown up used to the taste of Tony Romas, Big City Diner, Ruby Tuesday and Chicken In A Barrel, the taste did not entice me but it was pull apart tender for the meat choices. I liked the Cole slaw. The corn looked yummy but I had to abstain due to dietary restrictions at present so more for hubs. Lucky guy. The portions aren't monster-sized but generous and will satisfy a pretty good appetite. Location - very convenient - in Moanalua Shopping Center close to Koa Pancake House and in the old Taco Del Mar space. It's basically a grab and go place but there are a few tables inside and out. The staff is friendly and will gladly explain why their BBQ is the best, We had the "double" which includes 2/3 pound of two different meats and two sides. You can choose from St Louis Style Ribs, brisket, sausage, turkey breast (why?), pulled-pork and wings. Sides include baked beans, mac n cheese (awesome!), slaw, potato salad (vinegar-based). The plates come with a Hawaiian sweet roll and dill chips. The BBQ sauces are on the side and compliment the hand-rubbed meats well. The "house" is great, but DO NOT be afraid of the "hot" or don't pass-up the "sweet" sauce either. Prices - this AIN'T a cheap eat. However, if you have EVER tried to do BBQ right, then you will appreciate this place and the effort they put into their craft. And you don't have to clean-up. IMHO - WORTH IT! I'm from Hawaii but used to live Texas. I figure i try it because it's nearby. I hate to compare but my god the food was better than some of the top bbq places in Texas!!!!! Also ate in there, very clean and spacious. Lots of people order take out. Only one out of 3 staff members were actually friendly lol. The guy David has a big Texas hat, local Braddah and super friendly and helpful with my mom explaining what the sides were, comparing it to local foods. Loved it! He went above and beyond to help us choose what to get and even gave us wet naps. It wasn't busy when we ate there, after he helped us, he's fixing the kitchen and sweeping while the other two was straight chilling where customers sit. David stayed busy. So hardworking. This is my treat after I get my nails done. I've already been pampered. Then I walk in here and the staff greets you like they've been waiting for you. They are always warm, friendly, and helpful. The ribs are awesome! I always get 2 meats and just rotate what comes with the ribs. My favorite is the brisket. They have a variety of sauces including spicy for some. My wife LOVED her sandwich and I was "struggling" to finish mine. I knew should've gotten the burrito LOL I normally don't eat a lot of bread. We also got a side of mac and cheese, coleslaw, a banana pudding, my wife got a bottle of unsweetened tea and I got a bottle of water. The mac/cheese was ONO!!! Definitely get that again!! Coleslaw was pretty nice and refreshing too! The banana pudding was pleasantly sweet, banana-y, even though mostly artificial tasting. It did have real bananas at the bottom, and it was the perfect thing to compliment the ending of a meal. Btw, the kind gentleman behind the counter checked on us while we dined inside and he seemed to know the "regulars" as he greeted everyone coming in to grab a meal.
