We celebrated Mother's Day yesterday at Giovanni Pastrami with a party of 18, and we would highly recommend this place! Our server, Ricky, was amazing -- super friendly, helpful, and attentive. Our food came out quick, fresh, and hot, especially impressive with such a large party. The GM, Laurie, was the sweetest! She gave all of us mama's beautiful roses for Mother's Day, which was such a thoughtful touch. She also gave my mom a few special treats made by the manager/chef Marissa herself... but of course the keiki spotted them right away and had to have some Overall, we had such an amazing first experience there, and we'll definitely be back. My honey and I wandered in on a leisurely walk through waikiki to catch some play off basketball and were promptly seated at the bar. The portion sizes were good and the food fresh, although the menu was wayyyyy extensive (not sure if that's actually a bad thing, as we're indecisive). That being said, there's something for everyone on the menu, and we'd definitely bring family and friends back for a cold beer and good service. Wasn't planning on going there to eat but we were in Waikīkī and my husband was hungry and we decided to eat here. We were greeted with a friendly host and got seated right away in a booth. I was very pleased that they knew what people would want. We got water served right away while we make our decision what to order. The ambiance was nice and since I went there in the day time I'm sure at night it is spectacular. I menu had a variety of food to choose from like pizza, salad, burgers, and comfort food. The upstairs had a bar and more seating. There was an area upstairs for a band to play. The bath room reminded me of cheese cake factory only disappointment was that it smelled pee and wasn't kept clean like the other stall hand wet toilet paper in the seat. The stall I used smelled pee on the floor and the stationary pad trash was open, the toilet paper was not in holder but outside. Again it could be that they were busy or short handed. The music played while we entered and then it stopped for 15 min. It then returned and the television that played sports; there was no sound. The food my husband ate was good which was the burger and I just ordered soup... it wasn't that hot, the noodles was like spaghetti and not noodles for noodle soup... it did lack taste. But all in all it was a good experience unlike other Resturants I been too. Just needed some improvement on certain things was night time is probably more enjoyable considering the atmosphere and food. Go check them out. I'll probably be back again to eat there. read more

First off, the hostess is very friendly and will offer recommendations. Don't blow her off, she's the real deal. We were seated promptly and the menu is extensive. There is a bar area up the stairs with multiple tv's. The seating is comfortable and the staff is superb. I'm not sure why the 1 and 2 star reviews were given, but I'm glad we ignored them and came here for lunch. My SIL had the patty melt with macaroni salad. The Mac salad is very mayo based, so if you don't like that, then don't order it. She ordered it medium well, but it did come out between medium rare and medium. She said it was delicious also. My BIL had the spaghetti bolognese which he said was good, but the bolognese was a little too thick for him, as he likes it like marinara. I told him he should've gotten the marinara as the bolognese looked fantastic. My wife got the sky high turkey with onion rings and Russian Dressing on the side. She said the sandwich was excellent with the exception of the toasted bread was a little state. Next time, she'll order it with grilled bread. I got the GP Dip which when it initially arrived, I thought it was lacking some on the amount of meat. I was wrong. There was plenty of meat, the au jus was outstanding and the horseradish aioli was spot on. Overall, it was an excellent sandwich and I would definitely order it again. I did order the onion rings and found that the Russian dressing makes an excellent dip for the onion rings. They definitely don't short you on the rings, which is very nice. Me and my wife decided we would go out last night in Waikiki for St Pattys so we headed over to yard house when we got there the wait was over an hour so we decided to go to Giovanni's. We haven't been in a couple years but had a great time the last time we went so decided to check out the bar. Amazingly there was actually open seating. We decided to go ahead and order a couple drinks and order a pizza. The drinks were great came to us cold and refreshing. The pizza was also one of the best I've had lately which is great because honestly I wasn't expecting much. The only reason I'm giving them any stars is because the pizza was pretty good, even by Chicago standards. Our hotel offers room service from this restaurant, promising delivery to the room. Fail number one: this establishment uses Door Dash and this does not give the delivery person any incentive to represent the place the food is from. Dasher messaged us to come get our food from the lobby, but they were actually in their running vehicle. This, after being required to tip in advance. Next, the appetizers were both disappointing. Eggplant parm bites were paper thin, breaded and overcooked with a side of marinara to dip. Wings were cooked but not sauced. The sauce was on the side. Not properly prepared. Like I said, the pizza was pretty good all around but the entire order cost a lot and their idea of a large pizza was most places' medium or small. Meh. I'll order Domino's next time. read more

Hi really had high hopes for this place. It was jam packed with tourists on this day, some were here to watch Seattle and the Niners beat each other up. I guess maybe I've been to a few top notch pastrami joints before, and when a place has "Pastrami" in its name, oh boy. I ordered the hot pastrami dish. It took a long while, but giving a pass since it was slammed on this day. Food finally came out and I was instantly underwhelmed. Maybe its unfair to compare to NYC, but this example in front of me was lacking. I took a bite and while it was fine to eat, it was dry and lifeless. Server didn't even give us any mustard to go with it, and had to flag down someone to ask for it. It was also on the small side and was able to finish it up easily. To be fair, my boys had some burgers and fries and onion rings and they thoroughly enjoyed them. I had a bite and yes, onion rings were actually fire. And burgers were flavorful and juicy.
