Sat down for a drink with our group of friends and within minutes security came over demanding "paperwork" for our service dog. There is no official paperwork for service animals and asking for documentation like that shows a complete lack of understanding of the law. Rather than deal with a power-tripping security guard who clearly had no idea what he was talking about, we chose to leave. Easy to find, we went on a late after noon on St Patrick's Day, wasn't as busy as I thought it'd be, service was great, there was only 1 bartender/server, he was friendly and efficient! This bar is clean and you can tell it's really taken care of. We ordered drinks which came in a timely manner and ordered the Death by meat pizza which was sooo good! Pricy but so worth it, everything made fresh and the slices were big. I will definitely be coming back next time! read more

....every other spot was closed or their kitchen was and we were so desperate for food lol. Stumbled across this inconspicuous gem and loved it so much we've gone twice in one week! If you don't know it's there you may miss it because the door isn't on the street. There's clear doors that open to a foyer area and once you walk through that, then you arrive at the entrance to Rivals. It is visible from the street but it almost looks like a hotel entrance so unless you happen to look down the hall you may not notice it from the street. But if you're starving like we were, we were leaving no door unsearched lol. We were immediately greeted and seated which we were impressed with. I asked a server as I was walking to my seat, impatiently lol, "do you guys serve food???" She told me honestly yes but they were very busy and short staffed that night and it could take an hour or so to get our meals. Although that could've been viewed as horrible, under the minimum optioned circumstances we appreciated the honesty and decided to stay. We were pleasantly surprised that our server confirmed the potential wait very humbly but offered drinks and options that may be faster to help lessen the wait. We actually decided to just order what we wanted and accept the wait but the food came out rather quickly! We ordered the chili cheese fries & wings (not pictured due to how quickly we started eating and I forgot to take a pic lol!) and pizza. All verrrry tasty as well as reasonably priced! And hot!! Our server, known as "Angry Dave", was more than hospitable. He was very accommodating, friendly, and personable. Super awesome place! It's a bar within a hotel and they have lots of good pizza - huge slices - and a large variety of drinks as well! I'm not too sure about the other days but on Wednesdays, they have a DJ who allows you to request Karaoke songs which is awesome. It makes it really fun, and everyone there is always super nice! The workers and security there are super sweet as well - I saw one of the security guards carrying an elderly woman down a few steps of stairs and to her seat since they don't have a wheelchair ramp. One of the servers at another place we visited told my wife and me about Rivals, and suggested that we check it out, as it is where a lot of the industry folks hang out to mingle and drink. On our first visit, one of the basketball finals games was on TV, so the place was pretty packed. We walked around the bar and down to the area behind the bar; while most of the tables were filled up, there were two four-seater tables, each with only one person sitting at them. Hopefully, they were holding the tables for friends? Finding no seats, we left -- slowly, because our feet were sticking to the floor as a result of whatever had been spilled on it previously. The next day, we were nearby and in the mood for a beverage, so we stopped back in. Whole different vibe this time, as there were only a handful of people in the place. The server was quick to take our order. I had a gin and tonic, and the wife had a vodka/cranberry. Both of our drinks were $6, which wasn't bad, but they would've been a buck off ($5) if it had been happy hour, which runs from Noon-7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. During our one-drink stay, we were checked on several times; the service was surprisingly friendly, which was nice. Oh, and the floor was clean and not at all sticky. I would return to Rivals, but not being a big fan of crowds, I would try to do it when there weren't any big games or MMA matches on TV. My second time there. I only go to the Karaoke night on Wednesday nights. Everything was fine until after singing one song, when I went to use the restroom and I asked the bouncer to open the restroom door for me and after I came out he kicked me out because I only ordered a water. Now I don't drink alcohol and I'm trying to cut back on soda for health reasons. It's not my fault that neither the water or the Karaoke are free. He didn't even give me the chance to at least buy a soda, he just kicked me out. I had never had this kind of thing happen anywhere else so it must be a personal thing. Rivals gets my vote for cheap bar food, and cheap drinks. Located in a hotel, looks like construction has closed them down...but don't give up. Find the open door. Our bartender/server was super chill and attentive. I was with a group of six, so there was pizza, tater tots, jalapeño poppers, wings flowing amongst our table. It was great for what it was. Nothing spectacular about the food-- just bar food! There were two items that were not available at the time we were there. But, didn't change the happy hour prices so we didn't care. Best days for me are Mondays and Thursdays. Monday after 7 - HALF OFF FOOD. Yes. One Half off. 1/2 off. You want more goodness? $2 off all craft bottle beers. So basically $4 beers. $4 beers and half off food! Half off food, I was skeptical, it's probably bad I thought.... nope! Got the Kim Chee burger and it was great! Good tasting meat, abundance of toppings, just great. Did I mention half off? Brought that to $8. Thursdays after 7 - $3 pizza slices and $3 draft beers. Pizza was solid. They said it's from the pizza slice stand a block down that was always busy when I passed but this night was all about the $3 draft beers. They had Maui Brewing Bikini Blonde and Maui Big Swell IPA along with blue moon and your normal domestic stuff. $3 Big Swell IPAs in Waikiki?!? Go a few blocks down to the brewery and it was $8 for the same thing. This place is a little divey, but that's my kind of place. Do yourself a favor, choose this place for your dinner/drinking needs. Avoid this bar at all cost. Bartender (Kyle) added $10 to the credit card tip I left. I had the receipt and went back to show them. Waitress (8pm on 5 July - in case the manager reads this) said there is nothing she could do and I would have to report credit card fraud - which I did and got refunded. She also wouldn't give me a way to contact the manager. Insanely rude staff...and thieves. They thought I was a tourist and were very surprised when I showed back up. read more

Unexpected!! After being turned away from multiple places, walked by this Tardis. Literally outside looks nothing like the inside. My waitress was super friendly and attentive. Even when I was questioning a beer choice she brought them all over and let me see my options. I picked the Hawaiian BBQ wings that have a perfect balance of spice and sweetness. For me it was like eating McDonald's chicken nuggets smothered in Sweet and Sour. I also ordered a grilled cheese to go. It was also very good!
