Good luck reaching anyone via email. To have a 6 hour wedding with 50 people, it costs roughly 10k for the space (about average when you factor in lighting, furniture and seating at other venues) but you have to pay for you own prep time. Only an hour is complimentary, so if you want to add any personal touches at all you basically need to pay for that time. Considering you're paying 10k, the fact that one is not allowed to leave decor at the venue is super unreasonable. There was no event going on the day prior except for our own rehearsal. So we were to bring everything we could on our own day of, and beg our wedding planner to help. They claimed it was for "liability purpose" yet I was allowed to leave my dress grossing 2800 at the venue and not my $10 box of flowers... and the lightning that was already hanging cost $750 to allegedly rehang. Who knows why that needed $750. There were claims that there was not enough space to leave any belongings or purchase enough chairs for my guests, but from what I can see it's just badly organized. There's a massive stack of CDs in front of the bridal room coated with so much dust you can barely read the titles. There's all kinds of knick knacks everywhere by the piano. The dust in the bridal room is bore line scary when you look closely, the chandelier had dead flowers and cobwebs. The frames are coated with dust. Again, the wedding itself was beautiful but for 10k you'd think someone could be paid $200 to come in there to clean. I sincerely have no idea what my 10k went towards since the Morgage on the house is non existent according to Zillow. Emails were rarely answered in a timely manner, which is tough if you're a bride organizing almost everything. and their sweet sweet dog who was advertised as a ring bearer apparently only performed this service one time prior and got side tracked and pulled my flower girl into the bushes. I love that kind of silliness and don't blame the dog one bit. But it certainly feels like false advertising to say that this dog is willing to do the service but come day of my planner told me of all the weddings she'd aided there, she's never seen it happen once. We had a great wedding, but it's massively overpriced for how little effort is going in on the home owner's end. A beautiful scam. 3 stars for my guest's wonderful experience but not to my own chaotic one.

The classroom was well lit and the sound system worked perfectly, which made following along easy and enjoyable. Entrepreneur Sandbox is located right in Kaka'ako right beside UH on Ilalo St and with lots of parking available makes is a great spot to spark that imagination and on this night they had Clothing Swap Party which is a simple concept of bringing clothes, accessories, totes to swap as they provided tables to place your items and search. Community gathering to swap unwanted items going instantly to homes is nothing more than a great way to support those that are looking for items as well as I've overheard folks saying that that don't have much is so unfortunate and there nothing more that makes me happy than to see my items snatched which I did and it felt great. Love the loft vibe they have here and the location as it offers very easy parking and hope that they continue to have events like this as everyone had a great time finding new items to their wardrobe which they also provide fitting room as well. Nā Kūpuna Makamae: "The Beloved Seniors"…read more Thanks to fellow Yelper, Jessica P, for pointing out this newly opened senior center located in the former Kaka'ako pumping station. This bold stone former public works building has the distinction of being designed by the same architect of the luxurious Moana Hotel (The First Lady of Waikīkī), Oliver G. Traphagen. The Community Center is open weekdays only from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. They do offer services and programs dedicated to the seniors, their families and community. They feature class programs which one can sign up through annual membership of NKM (Nā Kūpuna Makamae) and classes are held on Tuesday through Friday. They offer classes such as Hawaiian Language, Culture & Literture, Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention, Lauhala Weaving, Qigong Mindful Training, Pua Culture/Lei Making, Hanafuda, Hula and Yoga & Sound Bath. They offer programs to acquaint the elderly with the digital age so they can overcome their "fears" or hesitancy to learning something new. There are programs geared for the more tech savvy, too. Annual membership to NKM costs $20/single or $35/dual (2 per family). However, as fans of Farmers' Markets, we made note of the schedule that Jessica posted and it was our plan to check it out. The Farmers' Market is held monthly on the 2nd and 4th Friday from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (as supplies last). We walked through the open parking lot where there were 5 food vendors who pitched their tents featuring various foods. I suppose it was because we were there just at noon, there was just a smattering of customers who also were discovering this senior center. The vendors that we saw were: - Olay's Thai Express - Aloha Beef Chips - Papi's Empanadas - The Pig & The Lady - Hawaii Sugarcane Juice We walked into the air-conditioned building and found more vendors selling baked goods, fresh fruits & vegetables, lip care products, local fragrances and cosmetics and press-on nails. There was a Community Center worker who graciously provided us with brochures and informed us about the upcoming programs that they hold in this building and membership to NKM. NKM is expanding its campus and even offers this historic site as venue rental. We purchased a couple of fresh papayas and eggplants for only $5 from the gal who was stationed at that table. I considered purchasing a hand of apple bananas but I thoughtfully considered the fact that my husband would be the one carrying our purchases so I didn't want to add more weight into that bag as we walked to this Community Center. As we stepped out of the building, there were more customers (nearby workers from other businesses or other residents) who were buying their lunches and beverages from the vendors in the parking lot. It was good to see more people exploring the Farmers' Market and this Community Center. We're looking forward to becoming members of Nā Kūpuna Makamae and taking part in some of those classes.

But they can also rearrange a sitting arrangement so there is open areas for people to stand and mingle. Then they have the lounge area. That's our favorite! The couches are enormous and the set up is immaculate! They had floor walkers and escorts who helped everyone find seats or direct them where to go. That's as a good thing. Usually m, people have to figure out what to do or where to go at these events, no?! Lol. But this was a once in a lifetime experience for us and it was AWESOME! Of course my son didn't want to watch himself on screen, but, we all loved it! He did well. In fact, they ALL DID! Every single film was done excellent! I wish we could've stayed for the whole thing, but unfortunately we had to leave early because the kids had school the next day. So we left around 9pm. Maybe next time we'll have a better chance in watching our son on screen again. Soon! For sure... Ok that's about it! OH! And the restroom! Oh my... it's an experience to have. Lol! It's amazing! One door for ALL to enter. Then as you pass the main door, your in the lobby of the restroom. Like they have in fancy theaters or auditoriums or hotels. Yup! Only difference is, there's no seats or chairs to lounge on. There's a long marble counter top with about 5 individual sinks. Each side accessible for anyone to wash up. Mirrors along the wall. And then the MENS DOOR for their restroom is on the left and the WOMENS on the right. Ever the bathroom stalls were cozy. Toilet seats were nice and comfy, not those public restroom toilets. This Courtyard is like a chameleon!…read more It becomes an outdoor ice Skating Rink in the Hawaiian "winter"; changes into a open-air movie theater on the second Thursday of the month when the weather is warmer; and converts to a concert venue on the third Wednesday of the month during the spring, summer, and autumn. At other times, people enjoy this space as a Yoga studio/art gallery. Ward Village makes really good use of this area. Chairs are set up for the movies and concerts. A gigantic tent is erected when the weather is suggesting rain. Otherwise, the audience enjoys gentle trade winds, silhouettes of palm trees, and views of fluffy clouds, gorgeous sunsets, and sometimes... the silvery moon. There's a water feature on the far side of the courtyard, so if the sound bothers you, sit nearer to the entrance and away from the wall. Most events are free - just look for the community events online and print out your tickets! If the event you're interested in is a Brunch, the fee will be posted an you'll get a chance to try specialties of local restaurants, using a ticket system. There's ample free parking nearby and a beautiful, clean restroom on the ground floor of the "IBM Building". The co-ed sinks are a great idea for efficient use of this facility! Check it out!!!

Being that they did a lot on their own by themselves for the first time they did well. HOWEVER, to hold an event & to utilize these facilities, you must have MILITARY CONNECTIONS. OF COURSE, Public access is available to civilians, but with LIMITED ACCESS to the beachfront & shores ONLY. Civilians are NOT ALLOWED to use or rent the facilities. I asked the CITY & COUNTY and they said this place IS NOT on their list & as far as for the STATE, they said they have no rental information on these facilities. So... that means... it's through MILITARY OFFICIALS ONLY! To be honest, I'm SURE military will say it's because this is "PEARL HARBOR", where their military is located, they have to take precautions to whom has access to the area. WHICH FOR ME, KINDA SUCKS because this place WAS once where my kupunas (older aunts & uncles) used swim & look for oyesters for food & pearls for jewelry/decorations, WAAY before the HARBOR was built for the military and now... a grandniece of theirs, a KANAKA, has LIMITED access to the area. As a civilian... we're FORBIDDEN from using "THEIR FACILITY". Doesn't really seem fair, doesn't it?! But that's the so called RULES. let's hope in due time there is a way to allow civilians the use of this area WITHOUT military connections. Anywho, if you have a chance to rent this spot, GO FOR IT!!!! And be sure to TAKE CARE OF THE PLACE TOO! Just because military has the say over this area, doesn't mean we should destroy or ruin the property itself. It is still OUR AINA! And Regardless if your ARE KANAKA OR NOT, just treat this place as if it was YOUR OWN HOME. And if you MISTREAT it and say that's how you'd treat your own home, then I can only imagine how embarrassed your parents must feel to have raised such a sloppy individual. POOR THING, YOU... SAD... What got me super excited for this event they have called "Clothing Swap Party" how cool is that! Just bring your unneeded clothing, shoes and purses and who doesn't have that what they do is have these tables and racks to hang and layout your clothing where we are allowed to browse and see the potential item you like to add to your wardrobe. Also there is The Skin Institute with students ready to provide a consultation on your skin condition and products they'd recommend to treat it. I had a delightful student Esthetician named Sstarr and went over my skin which I assumed and the course of products she recommend, along with a coupon for 10% off facial is a great start to a glowing complexion. I did find a shirt but wasn't really looking for a swap like so many here were delightfully enthusiastic just to see it going somewhere that will be loved and appreciated than the trash or lost in the donation bin, which isn't where what's left is going to a non-profit...fabulous! Once the swap was basically done I did get to browse around the area which looked like a fun lofty vibe with different pods and seating area and kitchen is super cute! A free pop-up movie in Honolulu...at Impact Hub!…read more Amy found a free movie through Eventbrite and I was so excited to go! I've always wanted to see "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" and this was it! Yay! Thanks, Amy! I actually parked for free right across the street at Whole Foods. Impact Hub does have it's own parking lot, and you can get validation. Inside, the workspace (available for rent) is clean, colorful, and spacious. There are restrooms, showers, telephone booths, desks, chairs, tables, a kitchen with microwave, and a plain white wall for projections... This is where we gathered and watched the story of Fred Rogers of the television show, "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood". This venue was perfect for a casual get together. Tonight's event was sponsored by PBS. There was a good variety of snacks - and water was available in reusable cups. Afterwards, I realized that I had been here before. My friend's wife graduated from esthetician school at this place! Wow...it's a versatile space!

The owner, Angelo, was gracious enough to allow us a sample of each of the drinks included in the 4-drink flight. My favorite was the lychee mocktail, although I heard great reviews about each of them! I appreciated the inclusivity of Outpour as many people in event attendance were able to either sample a drink, or buy one for someone else. While still satisfying that common societal yearn to sip on a drink at social functions, the family-friendly drinks open the door for people to have fun without alcohol!
