There are also individual booths for working in solitude, as well as conference rooms for group sessions. The classroom was well lit and the sound system worked perfectly, which made following along easy and enjoyable. The only challenge I had was finding the building the first time since it blends in with the rest of the John A. Burns School of Medicine complex. Tip: it's the first building on the right facing the road as you're heading Diamond Head. Parking is plentiful right out front, which makes it super convenient. Overall, a fantastic place for learning, networking, and working in a comfortable and inspiring environment.

Community gathering to swap unwanted items going instantly to homes is nothing more than a great way to support those that are looking for items as well as I've overheard folks saying that that don't have much is so unfortunate and there nothing more that makes me happy than to see my items snatched which I did and it felt great. Love the loft vibe they have here and the location as it offers very easy parking and hope that they continue to have events like this as everyone had a great time finding new items to their wardrobe which they also provide fitting room as well. Management and pricing and cleanliness. I never write reviews but I wanted to be candid with my…read moreexperience for future brides and grooms to be! So our wedding was a 5/5 experience but management is definitely old school and could use a lot of work. There is no texting, only a landline, and an email to work with. Good luck reaching anyone via email. To have a 6 hour wedding with 50 people, it costs roughly 10k for the space (about average when you factor in lighting, furniture and seating at other venues) but you have to pay for you own prep time. Only an hour is complimentary, so if you want to add any personal touches at all you basically need to pay for that time. Considering you're paying 10k, the fact that one is not allowed to leave decor at the venue is super unreasonable. There was no event going on the day prior except for our own rehearsal. So we were to bring everything we could on our own day of, and beg our wedding planner to help. They claimed it was for "liability purpose" yet I was allowed to leave my dress grossing 2800 at the venue and not my $10 box of flowers... and the lightning that was already hanging cost $750 to allegedly rehang. Who knows why that needed $750. There were claims that there was not enough space to leave any belongings or purchase enough chairs for my guests, but from what I can see it's just badly organized. There's a massive stack of CDs in front of the bridal room coated with so much dust you can barely read the titles. There's all kinds of knick knacks everywhere by the piano. The dust in the bridal room is bore line scary when you look closely, the chandelier had dead flowers and cobwebs. The frames are coated with dust. Again, the wedding itself was beautiful but for 10k you'd think someone could be paid $200 to come in there to clean. I sincerely have no idea what my 10k went towards since the Morgage on the house is non existent according to Zillow. Emails were rarely answered in a timely manner, which is tough if you're a bride organizing almost everything. and their sweet sweet dog who was advertised as a ring bearer apparently only performed this service one time prior and got side tracked and pulled my flower girl into the bushes. I love that kind of silliness and don't blame the dog one bit. But it certainly feels like false advertising to say that this dog is willing to do the service but come day of my planner told me of all the weddings she'd aided there, she's never seen it happen once. We had a great wedding, but it's massively overpriced for how little effort is going in on the home owner's end. A beautiful scam. 3 stars for my guest's wonderful experience but not to my own chaotic one.

Place is AWESOME!!! I totally forgot about this location for events too! Shoots!…read more They can hold over 300 people sitting side by side for a screening, move or even music or dancing. But they can also rearrange a sitting arrangement so there is open areas for people to stand and mingle. Then they have the lounge area. That's our favorite! The couches are enormous and the set up is immaculate! They had floor walkers and escorts who helped everyone find seats or direct them where to go. That's as a good thing. Usually m, people have to figure out what to do or where to go at these events, no?! Lol. But this was a once in a lifetime experience for us and it was AWESOME! Of course my son didn't want to watch himself on screen, but, we all loved it! He did well. In fact, they ALL DID! Every single film was done excellent! I wish we could've stayed for the whole thing, but unfortunately we had to leave early because the kids had school the next day. So we left around 9pm. Maybe next time we'll have a better chance in watching our son on screen again. Soon! For sure... Ok that's about it! OH! And the restroom! Oh my... it's an experience to have. Lol! It's amazing! One door for ALL to enter. Then as you pass the main door, your in the lobby of the restroom. Like they have in fancy theaters or auditoriums or hotels. Yup! Only difference is, there's no seats or chairs to lounge on. There's a long marble counter top with about 5 individual sinks. Each side accessible for anyone to wash up. Mirrors along the wall. And then the MENS DOOR for their restroom is on the left and the WOMENS on the right. Ever the bathroom stalls were cozy. Toilet seats were nice and comfy, not those public restroom toilets. But the hotel kine. Just without the extra fancy buttons. It's definitely somewhere anyone should go and see. Especially when they host an event there. OK NOW IM DONE! Thanks for reading! Nā Kūpuna Makamae: "The Beloved Seniors"…read more Thanks to fellow Yelper, Jessica P, for pointing out this newly opened senior center located in the former Kaka'ako pumping station. This bold stone former public works building has the distinction of being designed by the same architect of the luxurious Moana Hotel (The First Lady of Waikīkī), Oliver G. Traphagen. The Community Center is open weekdays only from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. They do offer services and programs dedicated to the seniors, their families and community. They feature class programs which one can sign up through annual membership of NKM (Nā Kūpuna Makamae) and classes are held on Tuesday through Friday. They offer classes such as Hawaiian Language, Culture & Literture, Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention, Lauhala Weaving, Qigong Mindful Training, Pua Culture/Lei Making, Hanafuda, Hula and Yoga & Sound Bath. They offer programs to acquaint the elderly with the digital age so they can overcome their "fears" or hesitancy to learning something new. There are programs geared for the more tech savvy, too. Annual membership to NKM costs $20/single or $35/dual (2 per family). However, as fans of Farmers' Markets, we made note of the schedule that Jessica posted and it was our plan to check it out. The Farmers' Market is held monthly on the 2nd and 4th Friday from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (as supplies last). We walked through the open parking lot where there were 5 food vendors who pitched their tents featuring various foods. I suppose it was because we were there just at noon, there was just a smattering of customers who also were discovering this senior center. The vendors that we saw were: - Olay's Thai Express - Aloha Beef Chips - Papi's Empanadas - The Pig & The Lady - Hawaii Sugarcane Juice We walked into the air-conditioned building and found more vendors selling baked goods, fresh fruits & vegetables, lip care products, local fragrances and cosmetics and press-on nails. There was a Community Center worker who graciously provided us with brochures and informed us about the upcoming programs that they hold in this building and membership to NKM. NKM is expanding its campus and even offers this historic site as venue rental. We purchased a couple of fresh papayas and eggplants for only $5 from the gal who was stationed at that table. I considered purchasing a hand of apple bananas but I thoughtfully considered the fact that my husband would be the one carrying our purchases so I didn't want to add more weight into that bag as we walked to this Community Center. As we stepped out of the building, there were more customers (nearby workers from other businesses or other residents) who were buying their lunches and beverages from the vendors in the parking lot. It was good to see more people exploring the Farmers' Market and this Community Center. We're looking forward to becoming members of Nā Kūpuna Makamae and taking part in some of those classes.

Today's visit was because of the MAKAHIKI festival which my sons Cornwall and Hula Halal had performed for today. Aside of the activities for the MAKAHIKI festival, the performance was awesome. Being that they did a lot on their own by themselves for the first time they did well. HOWEVER, to hold an event & to utilize these facilities, you must have MILITARY CONNECTIONS. OF COURSE, Public access is available to civilians, but with LIMITED ACCESS to the beachfront & shores ONLY. Civilians are NOT ALLOWED to use or rent the facilities. I asked the CITY & COUNTY and they said this place IS NOT on their list & as far as for the STATE, they said they have no rental information on these facilities. So... that means... it's through MILITARY OFFICIALS ONLY! To be honest, I'm SURE military will say it's because this is "PEARL HARBOR", where their military is located, they have to take precautions to whom has access to the area. WHICH FOR ME, KINDA SUCKS because this place WAS once where my kupunas (older aunts & uncles) used swim & look for oyesters for food & pearls for jewelry/decorations, WAAY before the HARBOR was built for the military and now... a grandniece of theirs, a KANAKA, has LIMITED access to the area. As a civilian... we're FORBIDDEN from using "THEIR FACILITY". Doesn't really seem fair, doesn't it?! But that's the so called RULES. let's hope in due time there is a way to allow civilians the use of this area WITHOUT military connections. Anywho, if you have a chance to rent this spot, GO FOR IT!!!! And be sure to TAKE CARE OF THE PLACE TOO! Just because military has the say over this area, doesn't mean we should destroy or ruin the property itself. It is still OUR AINA! And Regardless if your ARE KANAKA OR NOT, just treat this place as if it was YOUR OWN HOME. And if you MISTREAT it and say that's how you'd treat your own home, then I can only imagine how embarrassed your parents must feel to have raised such a sloppy individual. POOR THING, YOU... SAD...
