The Bayer Estate is nothing shy of fabulous! We had our wedding there (40 people, half from Vancouver, half from Melbourne) a month ago and it was perfect. If you're looking for something other than a cookie cutter, hotel/resort wedding, check this place out. Sooz and Linda are absolutely amazing and attentive to your every need and this two story historic home has so much character. The front and back yards both have a bar set up and the back yard comes out onto the beach and you get married in front of the ocean. Every guest at my wedding said they'd never been to a wedding so lovely.

Planning a destination wedding is quite overwhelming but it was so easy planning with Sooz by email and phone.

The open flow of the property allows for many themes and ideas for simple or very creative. The backdrop of the ocean for anytime of the day events plus all the colors of the sunset makes your event memorable. The best part of this venue are the hosts. They are genuinely filled with the aloha spirit that makes you want to stay there forever. Take it from me just BOOK IT! You won't regret it.

It has taken me nearly four years to feel ready to write this review. What should have been one of…read morethe most meaningful and joyful days of my life turned into a deeply distressing and, honestly, traumatic experience due to the conduct of this venue and their coordination services. We booked this business as our wedding venue and also hired the owner's wife as our day-of coordinator. From the beginning, there were multiple instances where expectations and agreements were not followed through on. One major red flag early on was when a private surprise I had planned for my husband--a hula performance--was disclosed to him by the coordinator just one week before the wedding. There was no accountability, apology, or acknowledgment of how inappropriate that was. Despite this, I chose to move forward with grace. On the day of the wedding, I communicated clearly about my arrival time so that preparations could be made. When I arrived, I was left waiting outside for approximately 20 minutes before being allowed in which I honestly didn't have an issue about but unfortunately, the experience escalated from there. The coordinator's behavior toward both myself and my bridal party was hostile, dismissive, and at times deeply disrespectful. Hurtful comments were made to me as a bride on my wedding day--comments that no one should ever have to hear in that moment. At one point, the electricity and generator to our preparation room were shut off, leaving us without fanning or lighting while getting ready. Immediately before walking down the aisle, the coordinator's husband intervened and required that his wife address me but it ended up being in a confrontational manner. This created an unnecessary and emotionally distressing situation right before the ceremony--an incredibly inappropriate moment to introduce conflict instead of support. Despite everything, I still walked down the aisle and had a beautiful ceremony. I truly thank God for the strength and peace I had in that moment, because I don't know how another bride would have recovered from that experience in real time. What's equally disappointing is that there was never a genuine apology or accountability afterward. The only statement made was along the lines of being "sorry that I felt that way," which is not the same as taking responsibility. There were multiple witnesses to everything that occurred, including individuals outside of my bridal party. Additionally, after the wedding, I was approached by other guests who shared that they had also experienced or observed concerning behavior from the coordinator during the event. That was especially disheartening, as it confirmed this was not an isolated experience. I share this not out of bitterness, but out of responsibility. No bride should have their wedding day compromised by the very people entrusted to support and facilitate it. While I do hope growth and change have taken place since then, I personally cannot recommend this venue or their coordination services. I would strongly encourage future brides to carefully consider other options to ensure they are fully supported, respected, and cared for on such an important day. If you're trusting someone with one of the most important days of your life, this is not a place where that trust may be honored. Update: After posting this review, I received a response from the owner. This experience took place under their ownership and leadership, regardless of location. The impact of that day was deeply emotional and, for me, truly traumatizing. It took me years to feel ready to speak about it. While I respect that things may have evolved--and I pray they have--I still felt there was a lack of genuine acknowledgment or accountability for what occurred. Growth and change do not erase or cancel my experience. I share this from a place of honesty so others can make informed decisions, and I do appreciate them taking the time to respond.

I remember reading Yelp Reviews for The Pineapple Patio and thought what a trendy idea. I wanted to…read morecheck out the Pineapple Patio and had this place bookmarked. This was a year ago, I didn't get a chance to until recently. I wanted to check out Sweet Mango's showroom which happens to be at The Pineapple Patio. From what I read, they do pop up events at The Pineapple Patio. The location of The Pineapple Patio is on South King St. right after the pet hospital and Central Pacific Bank. Stay on your far left lane as South King St. is one way. Make a left when you see State Farm Insurance. What I dislike about this place is the parking lot. Parking is very limited and very tight. I had a hard time parking my vehicle and hard time getting out. Once you find parking, you hit the buzzer for your pop up business and someone will come down to open the glass door for you. Walk up the stairs and you will see all the different vendors. During my visit to The Pineapple Patio, I had to pick up my son and was in a rush. I didn't get to browse around to the other vendors. What caught my eyes were all the plant and succulent across of the Sweet Mango's showroom, I wanted to check it out but had to leave right after. I will check it out when I have more time. Sweet Mango's products and showroom is so neat and organized. I loved the pineapple design prints on most of the merchandise, it is so nice and colorful. I had to get a pineapple print Turkish towel in green for me and a towel for my mom for Mother's day. Besides Sweet Mango Hawaii, some of the Vendors at the event were Tidepool Love, Kahulale'a, Aloha Dreamboard, and The Writing Desk. I read that it is best to check Instagram/social media's Pineapple Patio page for the upcoming events. What a great idea and great place to get your shopping done!

Look for the pineapple sign on the left side of King Street. There are about 10 parking stalls underneath the patio and street parking on King Street. This place is used for small start up businesses such as clothing and jewelry. It's a good place to have pop up events on the open patio or in their room. Another thing that I'm thinking about is possibly holding a bridal shower here in the future. Looks like a perfect venue to rent out and cater food at. (Not necessary to get catering, but definitely an option) They also rent out their furniture and plants that they have showcased around the patio. Super cute place and hope to be back soon!

As a child, I remember admiring and wondering who lived in this estate that borders Kapiolani Park…read more It was once known as the Winstead House that was built around the early-1900's. The estate was huge as it included horse stables, garages for horse-drawn carriages (later for automobiles), surrounded by undulating and well-manicured landscaping. The estate once extended from the intersection of Diamond Head Road and Paki Avenue to Kapahulu Avenue, around where Jefferson Elementary now stands. Back in 1992, the house was dedicated to the City and County of Honolulu. During 2003 - 2006, the C&C did a lot of renovation to the property and had a lot of concerns about its maintenance and use. Prior to its dedication by the Winstead descendants and the C&C renovation of this property, the Diamond Head Neighborhood Board held community meetings or gatherings. This property was also used as a backdrop to some local television shows..uh, anyone remember Magnum P.I.? To date, I don't know whether or not they have been permitted to continue using the space as such. Currently, there are offices that occupy its basement area by the Parks & Recreation administrative staff. All I can say is that if I worked in this facility, it would be very difficult to get any work done. I'd be wowed by the cool, gentle breezes, sunny blue skies and close proximity of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. But, that's what makes this property perfect for the Parks & Recreation to own and manage! #306
