We hadn't heard about this place until our cruisemates described the location and recommended the Island-style Fusion French brunch menu. I recognized the site as the former Diamond Head Anela Garden Chapel and Guest House, which offered a private wedding venue and restaurant services during the mid-2000s, but was unaware that it had undergone renovation and was renamed to "Waikīkī Leia. We excitedly accepted the invitation as we reminisced in the luscious French cuisine by master chef Jacques Pépin aboard our cruise ship. Upon arrival at Waikīkī Leia, we parked our car in their spacious parking lot and entered the guest house/restaurant. The hostess greeted us as we confirmed the reservation and seated us before the other couple joined us. Meanwhile, we enjoyed the tropical gardens and were soothed by the gentle splashing waterfalls while perusing the menus. Our cruisemates, who have dined at this restaurant before, ordered their usual breakfast menu items, Plantation iced teas, soufflé pancakes, and eggs Benedict. Since we were blessed with a gorgeous, sunny, warm, and clear day, we started our meals with iced teas, priced at $5 each (Plantation for my husband and Volcano for me), served in cute mason jars. Both iced teas were flavorful and refreshing. For my entrée, I chose the Seafood Rice Gratin ($25), which was preceded by a fresh mesclun salad drizzled with a well-balanced tropical vinaigrette (featuring liliko'i or passion fruit). The combination of mixed greens offered light, bitter green notes, spiciness, and tender bites, thanks to its variety of leaves, and prepared my taste buds for the rice gratin. The butter rice was topped with tender cooked shrimp, scallops, fish, and calamari in a rich Mornay sauce. The golden brown gratinée complimented the bubbling hot Mornay sauce. I waited a few minutes before digging into this fragrant and delicious dish. Our server warned me about the heat coming from the gratin dish and to avoid touching the dish. My husband chose the Trio Seafood Platter $30. The oven-baked seafood was artfully plated and accompanied with grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes. He showed me the tender and moist flakes of salmon when he cut the portion. The scallops and shrimp were also done perfectly and lightly seasoned. However, he kept glancing over to my Seafood Rice Gratin and I felt pressured into sharing my meal with him which he said he wished he had ordered the Seafood Rice Gratin instead. We ended our meal by sharing the Japanese Dessert Trio (green tea ice cream, warabi mochi with kinako and kuromitsu or "black honey", and warm sweet azuki beans topped with fresh whipped cream) $8.50. The trio of desserts treated our palates to hot and cold and not cloyingly sweet or less sweet Japanese desserts. Our server was friendly and professional and not too chatty with us as with other guests. There were two servers to wait over the fully-occupied restaurant so service lagged at times and we often had to flag down our server for water or beverage refills. We weren't rushed and leisurely enjoyed the convivial venue and lively conversation within our group and thankful to our cruisemates for introducing this restaurant to us. 4.4 stars

In addition to their restaurant, there's a quaint little wedding chapel with gorgeous views of Diamond Head in the back. We were able to stop by for brunch, which was AMAZING and literally one of the BEST meals we had during our vacation (which really says something considering how delicious food in Hawaii is). We ordered their signature souffle pancakes, which were unbelievably fluffy yet light, as well as their omurrice, which came with a perfectly whipped egg omelette and the most delicious Japanese-style cream of corn soup that I've had. Highly recommend checking this hidden gem out if you're visiting Honolulu! Featured here: Soufflé pancakes Omurrice Cream of corn soup

Upon arrival, I mistakenly presented the wrong membership card. The front desk attendant responded by reprimanding me loudly and publicly, accusing me of attempting to use an invalid card rather than offering any assistance or basic courtesy. I was sent to membership services, where no effort was made to verify my status or provide a reasonable solution--only an instruction to leave and return with a different card. The lack of a simple verification process is concerning in itself. While addressing this issue, I witnessed another guest--a man accompanied by his wife and young daughter--being similarly embarrassed at the front desk for the same reason. This suggests a broader issue with how guests are treated, not an isolated lapse in judgment. Although another staff member eventually offered a practical solution that allowed me to verify my membership, the experience up to that point was unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the restaurant service was no better. An older male server with a visible limp ignored direct questions and, when approached a second time, responded abruptly and rudely, telling me to "wait" in an aggressive tone. This behavior was entirely inappropriate. Additionally, an older woman seated nearby felt entitled to get up from her table and interrupt me as I am placing my food order by loudly demanding attention from staff in a disruptive and discourteous manner, further contributing to an uncomfortable and chaotic environment. While one server later attempted to recover the situation with professionalism, the overall experience was marked by hostility, poor communication, and a clear lack of respect toward guests. And the food was not good. For $18 tuna sandwich and lobster bisque I expected more than just a 711 type of meal. I'm beyond disappointed- the only good thing was the view of the ocean and sun was out yesterday. This visit did not reflect the values of courtesy, respect, and fellowship that the Elks organization is meant to uphold. Significant improvements in staff conduct and guest relations are clearly needed.

This was a year ago, I didn't get a chance to until recently. I wanted to check out Sweet Mango's showroom which happens to be at The Pineapple Patio. From what I read, they do pop up events at The Pineapple Patio. The location of The Pineapple Patio is on South King St. right after the pet hospital and Central Pacific Bank. Stay on your far left lane as South King St. is one way. Make a left when you see State Farm Insurance. What I dislike about this place is the parking lot. Parking is very limited and very tight. I had a hard time parking my vehicle and hard time getting out. Once you find parking, you hit the buzzer for your pop up business and someone will come down to open the glass door for you. Walk up the stairs and you will see all the different vendors. During my visit to The Pineapple Patio, I had to pick up my son and was in a rush. I didn't get to browse around to the other vendors. What caught my eyes were all the plant and succulent across of the Sweet Mango's showroom, I wanted to check it out but had to leave right after. I will check it out when I have more time. Sweet Mango's products and showroom is so neat and organized. I loved the pineapple design prints on most of the merchandise, it is so nice and colorful. I had to get a pineapple print Turkish towel in green for me and a towel for my mom for Mother's day. Besides Sweet Mango Hawaii, some of the Vendors at the event were Tidepool Love, Kahulale'a, Aloha Dreamboard, and The Writing Desk. I read that it is best to check Instagram/social media's Pineapple Patio page for the upcoming events. What a great idea and great place to get your shopping done!

Look for the pineapple sign on the left side of King Street. There are about 10 parking stalls underneath the patio and street parking on King Street. This place is used for small start up businesses such as clothing and jewelry. It's a good place to have pop up events on the open patio or in their room. Another thing that I'm thinking about is possibly holding a bridal shower here in the future. Looks like a perfect venue to rent out and cater food at. (Not necessary to get catering, but definitely an option) They also rent out their furniture and plants that they have showcased around the patio. Super cute place and hope to be back soon!

Looks like a great place for a wedding or private party. Views are amazing. But for Mother's Day it was sad. Half filled. Looked thrown together as a money grab at the last minute. Drab. One again, seemed thrown together at the last minute. No organization. No one around when you need and hardly any servers. No idea who our server was. - Bait & Switch. Menu said King Crab.
