Oh man. I held one of my wedding events here (Welcome Party) and it was nothing but perfection. Rob and Rechung are the kindest, most helpful people you will meet and they really made the space feel like home and that I was welcoming my guests to my space. They helped hang the flags in the picture, moved around tables when needed, provided mics for us, made sure our music matched the vibe. They made set up and tear down soooo much easier for us and made the event so much more enjoyable. It's the perfect place to host an event. I have friends with kids who attended the event and they even had toys and play things for kids so everyone had the best time!! I dream of another event to host there, thank you Boxjelly for making my wedding week even more special. read more

This use to be my chosen place to cowork and still a great space Id come back to. I like how open the area is. Theres alot of places to choose from to work. I like that there is a coffee shop connected where I can always re-up my caffeine intake in the afternoon without needing to pack up. The vibes are good here. My only complaint is if you needed to leave, youd have to pack up your stuff and come back. Its not a big gripe. Just one I have for someone who'd stay there all day. We hosted a private event at this space tonight and all I can say is wow. What a fun, creative and comfortable space to spend time in. Everywhere you look there is something interesting but the atmosphere is overall relaxing and inspiring. We were blown away with the sincere and professional service we received from the staff. We cannot think box jelly enough for making our event a total hit. If you are looking to host any kind of event where you need a space that checks all the boxes look no further. There is indoor and outdoor seating, a sink and refrigerator, plenty of electrical outlets, all different kinds of seating to make everyone comfortable, and just supremely fabulous service. BoxJelly is such a cool spot--dog friendly, clean, and full of great energy. You can bring in your own food, and the coffee is delicious. It's got a mellow vibe that works equally well for collaborating with others, working solo, or just zoning out and focusing. The space is open, airy, and thoughtfully laid out, which makes it easy to settle in for the day. It's also just around the corner from my apartment, so I feel lucky to have such an awesome coworking space so close by. read more

What an incredibly cool concept--with work from home life becoming the new normal, I'm always amazed at the creative and innovative ideas people come up with. For myself working from home has been tough, between juggling my endless list of to-dos and the non stop distractions, sometimes I truly amaze myself at how I manage to get everything done. For those looking to network and work in a safe environment that feels like home (minus the distractions), look no further! Box Jelly is the co-working space of my dreams! I came here on a whim after seeing their coffee shop (Try Coffee) start trending on Yelp. Something new-ish in Honolulu, you know I'm there! The concept is relatively simple, you pay for either a monthly or drop-in membership to access this shared space that is equipped with conference rooms, large tables, comfy chairs, a/c, WiFi, restrooms, a communal printer, a beautiful lanai, and views over looking Ala Moana Beach Park across the street. Like Yelp, this biz is all about connecting and building a community of like minded creatives, entrepreneurs, brilliant humans. Signing up to use their space was easy, and their staff was super helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly, fielding any and all of the questions I had--from how do I sign up to where are your restrooms and what is your wifi password. I signed up to use their drop-in passes (minimum of 5 for $20 each and never expires) which offers less access than those who hold a monthly membership, but fine by me! The drop in passes offer just what I need--a cool, creative space to escape my dull and boring WFH set up! I have a few more passes to use but am definitely interested in migrating my WFH set up here instead. So long as the WiFi is fast and the coffee is plentiful, I'm there! read more

My initial interest in checking out this place was to find a new go-to for great coffee in town. The cherry-on-top was discovering not only the fantastic coffee (try the Barista's choice - they made me an incredible smoked coconut latte) but a safe space where they require a QR code scan (for entry) + proof of vaccination to order food. I've been extremely cautious about masking and vaccination so I'm glad there are places where we can enjoy a social atmosphere + great coffee and still maintain a modicum of safety. Sure, not everyone may appreciate these measures and that's okay too. This is a collective of different office sizes available at different rates located on Kanami Street, one block Ewa off Ward Avenue. We were able to contract the Board Room that comfortably fit 11 of us and the Meeting Room that fit 21 of us while our offices and meeting space were being renovated over three months. There are whiteboards and polycom equipment available in those meeting rooms. Meredith is very easy to work with and most accommodating. Woo hoo! read more

This place is awesome! I had attended two events here a few years ago and loved it then and recently decided to rent the conference room for a meeting for seven of us. The space itself is cozy, clean, and organized. The layout was clearly well thought-out as there's an open/large co-working space when you walk-in and then there are private meeting spaces that are sectioned off as you walk towards the back. The space doesn't look big from the outside, but inside, it opens up nicely. The conference room looked exactly like the pictures and was even more spacious than I imagined. The seven of us were very comfortable and it would probably be able to hold up to 10-11. Wifi is provided and there were white boards in the room. The staff was incredibly nice and patient with me. I had a lot going on (getting food delivered, time issues, etc) and they were so accommodating and kind. Their professionalism is noteworthy. It is true that the street parking is limited, but if you know that going in, you can make adjustments as needed or park at Ward Warehouse (which is a short walk over). If you're looking for a clean-inviting place to hold your meetings or get some work done, I highly recommend the Box Jelly. read more

BoxJelly I read an article about how in England shared land use of space was an idea in rural areas which very recently was brought into the London area. Then the idea spread over the pond to USA. BoxJelly is one of the wildest versions of the shared space models that I have ever seen. Not only is it shared space for a millennial playground of ideas but a pop-up small box/ artist den/ foodie haven within the space. Yes- it is hard to explain it in 1 sentence let alone in a run-on sentence type paragraph. The space is unique- that is putting it mildly. Each room seems to have a personality. If you study feng shue or want to prove a dissertation on how a rooms flow increases ideas along with productivity of creative ideas - you would have an honorary degree from Harvard on this one. One room is all about art- another room is more traditional in that it is functional in a home office type of mental state. It's not an artist's den parse but a collaborative setting that generates flows of ideas. Most notably- before Uber had a real office in Honolulu, they were at BoxJelly. The whole vibe is that of - you get your business up and off the ground because you are not at home where distractions distract you to the point of not starting. BoxJelly forces people to get their creative juices flowing- redirect back to a business entrepreneur mentality and get back to the grind of business. Behind wall number 1 is a small coffee shop near the art/ crafts/ spa type tangible items for sale. You can grab a cup of Joe without having to leave the den. Or you can go over to Ward Mall just over the block for anything more substantial. It does cost to join. Just know that it is basically an investment in working with likeminded people that have a depth of knowledge in their respected fields as well as get you motivated to work on your own stuff. I've been here to talk to people, go to an event and even joined in on their Christmas Party/ open house. Some of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met in their specific fields. It is instead of Brooklyn in NY a new kind of feel of space that in unique. It really could be our own new local identity space that helps with ideas. I don't have a business but if I did I would start here for sure because they have a great presence with lower rent instead of full on getting too long of a lease which can be crippling to young people. It is by appointment so that there is a person free to show you around and answer questions. It is a great deal to take in at first - so be ready. Been co-working at the BoxJelly for the past 6 months and really enjoy it. It has a great, collaborative and friendly vibe. I especially love that they share space with Fishcake, the home goods and decor store next door, and have a pop up coffee/tea shop. Both really elevate the experience so you have the best of many worlds--cute decor to please the eye, coffee/tea/snacks and high functioning co-working. Very chill and the staff remember me and talk story, unlike other spots in Honolulu and beyond. (I've actually worked at co-working spaces in NYC, SF, Oakland, Santa Barbara, LA, Bloomington Indiana and BoxJelly is in the top quartile.) There are a lot of places that try to make co-working work. A lot of them fail, prioritizing large footprints and a sterile but consistent environment over organic friendliness and DIY feels. BoxJelly is hitting it out of the park. No wonder they're expanding across the city :-) read more

The Box Jelly, located a block from Ward Entertainment Center in Kaka'ako, is Hawaii's first coworking space. If you're not familiar with coworking, it's a style of working which involves a shared environment. You're still working independently, but have the opportunity to interact with others if you choose. The Box Jelly has a great setup located in the back of Fishcake, a unique furniture store. The environment is great; it's akin to working in an art gallery. They have comfortable lighting and nice music - it won't distract or put you to sleep. They have a number of seating options and comfortable workspaces; various large tables with chairs, or if you're in a more lounging mood, a couch and recliner. Included with the space fee is access to WiFi, color inkjet printer, and complimentary coffee. On my first visit to the location, I had an opportunity to interact with one of the proprietors and another independent professional. I got an overview of what they've started at The Box Jelly and where they're taking things. And we also briefly discussed the Hawaii coworking movement in general. After that, I connected to the complimentary WiFi and did a couple hours of work. During the time I was there, there were from 2 to 5 other patrons. This included the staff member that kept an eye on the place, and kindly offered directions to the restroom when necessary. The restroom, by the way, is another design masterpiece and fits right in with the rest of the overall showroom. When it came time to settle my bill, it was simple, they use Square for credit card payments, and I had my receipt via txt message before I was out the front door. I highly recommend this location for anyone that's stuck in the "coffice" rut over at Starbucks off Ward - You'll get way more work done in The Box Jelly environment, and they won't give you dirty looks for using their power outlets. Plus, you never know who you'll run into and what great business ideas might come out of it! I definitely look forward to seeing the space grow, and expect that I'll soon be a regular. read more

Lovely space, racial profiling, or some other reason for prejudice. I have been a member in the past and on a recent visit was doing daily passes and/or phone booth reservations or sitting in the coffeeshop area while working when I was staying for a few hours. I was told previously by a host that people can work in the lanai or the area of the front of the coworking space during the coffee shop hours which are 7 to 3pm or 9 am to 3 pm or some such. I never get there earlier than 11 am usually and if I am working the full day I buy a day pass. Today was such a day where I had plans to go elsewhere soon after arriving, so I had bought a coffee and was drinking it on the lanai and working, then bought a room for a private call. I had been told when you get a room you have a bit of extra time, and I had no idea what time that was but was planning to wrap up and leave soon after as I had no plans to stay long (hence not buying the day pass). I literally just come out of the privacy room I had rented and a friend had arrived and joined me, I was asking him what he planned to do, if he was buying a coffee or what, and he said the coffee shop was closed. Before we could even finish the conversation, a guy comes up to me and tells me to leave because I only had an hour. He then goes on to express that I am "taking advantage" of them. I asked him for details of where and how, and he literally just said "you only have an hour", as if I had not been renting the privacy room for a portion of the time. He said "you have to leave". I find it reprehensible that someone is treated like that, and my friend was not talked to AT ALL though he had not even bought a coffee yet. I have no reason to believe anything was wrong. read more

Cool office sharing space. Staff are super helpful. Boxjelly is super clean and very inviting. They had ginger bread man cookies out in the open area. Clean bathroom is available and their conference room is a nice size to hold a 8-10 person meeting. The docked stars are for the parking situation. Or I should say lack of parking. It's important for me to be able to find convenient parking. It's great if you are walking or maybe even biking. Something random...there a few small dogs roaming in boxjelly. I like to GSD. (Get Shi..Stuff Done) I like having wifi that isn't slow as molasses. I like sitting in comfortable chairs. I like having french pressed coffee. If you like all of these things, you'll _love_ The Box Jelly. A cool, sheik coworking space popping up in Honolulu. A friend introduced me to the BoxJelly co-working space last fall and when he found out I was going to be working remotely here in Honolulu this spring encouraged me to give BoxJelly a try. I'm so glad I did, as it has proved to be a great co-working space with access to reliable and fast wi-fi, a printer, scanner, small locker to keep files, kitchen with a Keurig so I can bring in K-cups for my daily coffee fix, and flexible workspace options that include a small conference room for conference calls, desks in the main workspace for days when I need energy from my fellow co-workers, plus a quieter back space for when I really need quiet to focus on things like budget work. There is also free parking on the 4th and 5th floor of Ward Warehouse! Also, if you ask, you can get your first drop-in day for free which is a great way to check out the space and see if it will work for your needs. They also have a conference room that seats about 10 - 12 people that can be rented out for just $35/hour (as of now) and an event space that accommodates up to 60 people that can be rented for $125/hour for a minimum of 2 hours (as of now). If you are an unlimited monthly member you get 8 hours of use of the conference room and small meeting room for free. They also have some really cool anchor tenants that rent office space out of their facility including Experience Hawaii, Hi-Capacity, Uber, and Kua. I expected these things from a co-working space, but what I didn't know was that, in the four months I've been working out of here, I'd become a part of the BoxJelly community. I've gotten to know many of my fellow co-workers really well and last night a bunch even turned out for an impromptu going-away/celebration karaoke party for me as I'll be back on the mainland this summer. BoxJelly also hosts events and community meetings so I've gotten to attend a U of Hawaii Art History Art Installation here, Common Cause meetings, and big events like StartUp Weekend Hawaii. I didn't know that I could find such a great and supportive community in a place where I was just looking for a desk to work out of. It's a great co-working space, and a great way to get connected in with the community and the great group of people that work out of the space. I'm so happy with my choice to work remotely from BoxJelly and am really looking forward to coming back here in August when I begin my PhD studies at the University of Hawaii. read more

31 YELPS REVIEW CHALLENGE, Day 1 Came to The Box Jelly last Wednesday night for WetWare Wednesday. I was very impressed by the turn out and the range of guests. Team Praxis was hosting this particular event and they brought in food, had beverages provided by Civil Beats and guest speakers from Start Up Weekend Honolulu. I always love hearing about new events that specifically involve the community. The Box Jelly is a co-working space where groups/individuals/entrepreneurs can come in, rent space, work on their projects, meet other individuals or do presentations. It's ideal for those that do not have a work space and want to impress that group/person who is eventually going to fund your great idea. Best part, they have wi-fi, printers, etc available to use as well. They also host private events after 6pm, just call about reservations. So they have membership prices ($75/month) or just drop in ($15). I think coffee, tea and water is still free but they do have drinks which you can purchase. My only gripe about this place was that it got stuffy. I might be complaining because I'm pregnant and probably hot, but it was really stuff in there. Parking is also hard to come by, street only. Another great thing about this place, it's located right next to Fish Cake (furniture store) which I absolutely love. I seriously dig the artistic vibe of BoxJelly. BRAND EXPERIENCE I've been using BoxJelly on and off for about 18 months now and I've gotta say this place is tight. The staff is super friendly and always helpful, willing to go the extra mile to make sure you feel served. SPACE The space has a artistic and hipster-ish vibe so it definitely attracts people interested in both things. Visually there's always some form of art being displayed on the walls, courtesy of their in-house art residency program (on a side note, I went to one of their q&a / talkstory sessions and it was pretty inspiring stuff). Logistically speaking, the space is well organized and can accommodate a good number of people at once. They have three rooms of varying sizes to book meetings or forums/panels as well as phone booths that are meant to hold one or two people. COMMUNITY Being a co-working space, one of the most important aspects is the community within. In my limited interactions with other "sub-leasers" everyone has been rather friendly. I feel like if I spent more time actually working there (instead of only booking meeting spots) I would make a number of quality connections. PRICING In my opinion, their pricing is super competitive. I only spent $200ish a month to secure a meeting room that can accommodate 8 people easily and is great for webinars. Boxjelly will definitely be getting more of my business when I meet clients in the Ward area! read more

The Box Jelly is a coworking office. Think of it like a shared office that independent contractors and entrepreneurs work out of. I've been doing work here for 3 days only, but I have plenty of good things to say already: 1. Great facilities. Clean bathroom. A/C. Surround sound music. A couch. A chess board. Conference room to bring your clients. A Skype room. Big desks. Electricity. WIFI. Refrigerator. Microwave. Peripherals. This place has the perfect setup for me to come in, do my work, and not leave until I'm finished. 2. Affordable rates. As the office gets more and more facilities, membership prices will probably go up. In the meantime, the basic membership is really cheap: $75. Basic membership provides unlimited use. You might be thinking that there are a lot of free venues, but those places require that you be a customer. Furthermore, the Box Jelly and other coworking spots have better setups for working. 3. Good, professional crowd. As an independent contractor, I started off going to different venues to do work, like McDonalds and the library. I ended up working at home after some time because it was hard to work around the loud, grade-school kids and the smelly hobos at the venues I frequented. The Box Jelly offers a very different crowd. Everyone is there to work. And seeing other people work hard make you want to work hard as well. There is a little socializing going on sometimes, but you always have the option of putting headphones on if you don't want to be distracted by conversations. read more

We had to use this facility twice within one week. The staff was friendly and the working space was adequate. There was Apple TV, Chromcast, large TVs, extension cords, etc at no additional cost. Downside was the parking, no lot. Just be prepared to walk if you cannot find a stall in the front or on Kamani period. Another plus was having a restroom within the building. I would just bring up the cleanliness of the space. The dust was so thick and the floors were disgusting. Both times several of us left with headaches due to dust. Visited some friends who work here and it's a really fun concept. It's got a really cool creative vibe and a funky little layout that features many conference rooms and meeting spaces. There's usually front desk help that kinda serves as hipster receptionist/security if you will. Despite the name there are no venomous Cnidaria present which is a real perk. I inquired about their rental rates while I was shopping around for office space and found it really reasonable. They have a myriad of work space plans/solutions that can fit most budgets. read more

I started a business. I needed a place to "reconnect", to find like minded people and OMG, this place changed my life. I met and made more business associates and more importantly, friends, in my 3 months here at BoxJelly from Jan to April than I have the last two years. I made an awesome business connection that led me to selling my business, and I made friends. I will never forget BoxJelly and I will NEVER NOT visit when I'm back in town. 10/2014 is my next visit. I really like this place for working space. It's quiet, but not distractingly silent. I like to multitask when I work, sometimes making calls while I work on the computer and the noise level here is perfect to allow for a phone call without disturbing the other workers! It's got a coffeehouse vibe (with coffee and baristas) without too much in and out foot traffic, and you don't have to feel guilted into buying a coffee while you're there. I don't always want caffeine just because I'm working lol there is a little kitchen area to heat food if you bring some in. They have break off rooms for conferences, group stuff, and art prep, but I wish this place had a small room for fitness (not for personal workouts). My work involves training and exercise programs that I'd love to have a room with a mirror and mats/weights/balls that I could video my routines in. That would make this place top notch! Haha Lots of natural light and some warmth from outside with big windows/doors (leading to the big lanai), but still cool from AC. The people working there are very friendly and helpful/approachable. Plus, it's dog friendly so you occasionally get a pooch to come by for a pet and to say hello it's definitely my kinda vibe to be able to zone in but still see the light of day, not feel like I'm working alone, and be super productive! read more
