Thank You EMI and Yelp again for the complimentary Tickets to the Greek Festival at the McCoy Pavillion 2016. The check in for the Yelp Guest List was on the Ewa Entrance of the Pavillion, it was an easy Check in. Regular Pricing is 3$ for adults and Kids 11 and under and military are free. Food-Scripts are needed for food, they take Cash or Check NO credit/debit cards, there was an ATM in the Front Food Prices were a little pricey but I didn't mind becuase I love Greek Food and this is the place to get authentic items. At the Festival there was a Jewelry booth, clothing booth, Greek Coffee, Greek Alcohol tent, Desserts, breads and jellies, cookies, marinades, market items and many authentic foods. There is also a separate area that serves Chicken and Vegetarian plates. The reason that I like this festival is because the atmosphere is really chill. I enjoy walking around to the booths and sampling Greek food that Ive never tried before. And an Alcohol tent with Greek wine and beer, I was sold! My favorites this year was the Gyros which were awesome! and the Baklava Cheesecake was so unique it was a baklava top, cheesecake in the middle and the bottom layer was a cake, so it was a perfect combination of the flakiness of a Baklava and its toppings, then the sweet creaminess of cheesecake with the bottom being like a white cake it just evened everything out. Background-2016 marked the 35th year of the Greek Festival. There are NO outside food vendors here, this is put on by less than 40 Greek families that are part of the Yassas from Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Pacific, proceeds go to the ministries and other local charities. Entertainment was great, i didn't understand a word, but the singers and musicians were so good and a lot of people were dancing traditional greek dances. The atmosphere was lively and entertaining. The McCoy Pavillionj-is a great place for this festival however, I really think that the state needs to keep this place up, there were cracks in some areas that they had to put cones around, and a crumbling concrete slab in the middle with caution tape around it, it really made the area look dilapidated. There's a lot of potential with this site, definitely needs a face lift. Overall, I enjoyed my self and I'll need to hit the gym this week. Disclaimer: this festival is not as big as the Okinawan festival in Hawaii this is on a much smaller scale but I like the intimacy and the atmosphere and I love tasting and seeing a glimpse of other cultures that are in Hawaii. OPA! (celebration of life, you will hear this a lot at the festival!) or after you take a shot of Ouzo

Ópa!!! You can't help but have fun at the annual Greek Festival held at the McCoy Pavilion across from Ala Moana Center and not that far from Magic Island. We park at Ala Moana Center and walk over. Bring a hat. It's very hot outside. We took the whole family. I love that Hawaii has festivals for all the cultures to represent the multiculturalism in the islands. It's a great to visit festivals to learn about languages, cuisines, music, dancing, religion and history. The cost of admission to this particular festival is quite reasonable. $3 for adults and children under the age of 11 don't pay. There's a discount for active duty military members. The food is probably the biggest draw of this festival. Greek food is scrumptious. Lamb, souvlaki, Greek Salad, gyros and even a vegan Greek meal are all wonderful. The food is probably the biggest draw to most who attend the festival, but there are plenty of options beyond what I listed. Best: the gyros. We had several gyros because once you gyro you can't stop. The pastries are decadent. You won't be able to resist the delicious looking desserts. The classic baklava is my favorite. It's reasonably priced at $3.50. There are other pastries including a chocolate baklava for the chocoholics. See the dancing in air conditioned comfort. We especially enjoyed the dancing done in traditional Greek attire. Greek dancing is lively and engaging. Have some ice cold lemonade. The pork souvlaki which is a pork tenderloin on a wooden skewer served with a pretty dry tasting pita bread was a complete miss. But you win some and you lose some. This is not a huge festival with thousands of people. It's a small to medium festival and I like that. Overall, the festival was hit with us and we plan to visit again next year.

Free parking, but may need to walk far. Nice air conditioning; clean; safe and centrally located. No food or beverages allowed in the hall. Flies hovered around us as we ate our bento meal at the picnic tables. Good sound system and elevated stage. Great facility for our annual meeting of the Credit Union!

I think this is one of the high lights of Honolulu. Just walking through the ponds and the pavilion is a nice retreat from the buildings and traffic of downtown just across the street. I just came from the Story Telling Festival there last night, and I had a pretty good time there. Just a nice and peaceful place.

Easiest way to find parking, ride a moped to the Festival at McCoy Pavillion

This was a year ago, I didn't get a chance to until recently. I wanted to check out Sweet Mango's showroom which happens to be at The Pineapple Patio. From what I read, they do pop up events at The Pineapple Patio. The location of The Pineapple Patio is on South King St. right after the pet hospital and Central Pacific Bank. Stay on your far left lane as South King St. is one way. Make a left when you see State Farm Insurance. What I dislike about this place is the parking lot. Parking is very limited and very tight. I had a hard time parking my vehicle and hard time getting out. Once you find parking, you hit the buzzer for your pop up business and someone will come down to open the glass door for you. Walk up the stairs and you will see all the different vendors. During my visit to The Pineapple Patio, I had to pick up my son and was in a rush. I didn't get to browse around to the other vendors. What caught my eyes were all the plant and succulent across of the Sweet Mango's showroom, I wanted to check it out but had to leave right after. I will check it out when I have more time. Sweet Mango's products and showroom is so neat and organized. I loved the pineapple design prints on most of the merchandise, it is so nice and colorful. I had to get a pineapple print Turkish towel in green for me and a towel for my mom for Mother's day. Besides Sweet Mango Hawaii, some of the Vendors at the event were Tidepool Love, Kahulale'a, Aloha Dreamboard, and The Writing Desk. I read that it is best to check Instagram/social media's Pineapple Patio page for the upcoming events. What a great idea and great place to get your shopping done!

Look for the pineapple sign on the left side of King Street. There are about 10 parking stalls underneath the patio and street parking on King Street. This place is used for small start up businesses such as clothing and jewelry. It's a good place to have pop up events on the open patio or in their room. Another thing that I'm thinking about is possibly holding a bridal shower here in the future. Looks like a perfect venue to rent out and cater food at. (Not necessary to get catering, but definitely an option) They also rent out their furniture and plants that they have showcased around the patio. Super cute place and hope to be back soon!

As a child, I remember admiring and wondering who lived in this estate that borders Kapiolani Park…read more It was once known as the Winstead House that was built around the early-1900's. The estate was huge as it included horse stables, garages for horse-drawn carriages (later for automobiles), surrounded by undulating and well-manicured landscaping. The estate once extended from the intersection of Diamond Head Road and Paki Avenue to Kapahulu Avenue, around where Jefferson Elementary now stands. Back in 1992, the house was dedicated to the City and County of Honolulu. During 2003 - 2006, the C&C did a lot of renovation to the property and had a lot of concerns about its maintenance and use. Prior to its dedication by the Winstead descendants and the C&C renovation of this property, the Diamond Head Neighborhood Board held community meetings or gatherings. This property was also used as a backdrop to some local television shows..uh, anyone remember Magnum P.I.? To date, I don't know whether or not they have been permitted to continue using the space as such. Currently, there are offices that occupy its basement area by the Parks & Recreation administrative staff. All I can say is that if I worked in this facility, it would be very difficult to get any work done. I'd be wowed by the cool, gentle breezes, sunny blue skies and close proximity of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. But, that's what makes this property perfect for the Parks & Recreation to own and manage! #306

Place is AWESOME!!! I totally forgot about this location for events too! Shoots!…read more They can hold over 300 people sitting side by side for a screening, move or even music or dancing. But they can also rearrange a sitting arrangement so there is open areas for people to stand and mingle. Then they have the lounge area. That's our favorite! The couches are enormous and the set up is immaculate! They had floor walkers and escorts who helped everyone find seats or direct them where to go. That's as a good thing. Usually m, people have to figure out what to do or where to go at these events, no?! Lol. But this was a once in a lifetime experience for us and it was AWESOME! Of course my son didn't want to watch himself on screen, but, we all loved it! He did well. In fact, they ALL DID! Every single film was done excellent! I wish we could've stayed for the whole thing, but unfortunately we had to leave early because the kids had school the next day. So we left around 9pm. Maybe next time we'll have a better chance in watching our son on screen again. Soon! For sure... Ok that's about it! OH! And the restroom! Oh my... it's an experience to have. Lol! It's amazing! One door for ALL to enter. Then as you pass the main door, your in the lobby of the restroom. Like they have in fancy theaters or auditoriums or hotels. Yup! Only difference is, there's no seats or chairs to lounge on. There's a long marble counter top with about 5 individual sinks. Each side accessible for anyone to wash up. Mirrors along the wall. And then the MENS DOOR for their restroom is on the left and the WOMENS on the right. Ever the bathroom stalls were cozy. Toilet seats were nice and comfy, not those public restroom toilets. But the hotel kine. Just without the extra fancy buttons. It's definitely somewhere anyone should go and see. Especially when they host an event there. OK NOW IM DONE! Thanks for reading! A gigantic tent is erected when the weather is suggesting rain. Otherwise, the audience enjoys gentle trade winds, silhouettes of palm trees, and views of fluffy clouds, gorgeous sunsets, and sometimes... the silvery moon. There's a water feature on the far side of the courtyard, so if the sound bothers you, sit nearer to the entrance and away from the wall. Most events are free - just look for the community events online and print out your tickets! If the event you're interested in is a Brunch, the fee will be posted an you'll get a chance to try specialties of local restaurants, using a ticket system. There's ample free parking nearby and a beautiful, clean restroom on the ground floor of the "IBM Building". The co-ed sinks are a great idea for efficient use of this facility! Check it out!!!
