The bar is a plus because we didn't have to bring alcoholic drinks, and everyone was happy with the good prices! Four stars because we did not care for the bartendress. She was the only staff on hand and could improve on her people skills. She may have been a good bartendress... I do not know! Mahalo, Rusty! This won't stop us from coming back.

Personally I think 100 people is the perfect count for this place - not too crowded but not empty. Rusty who is the POC for hosting parties there is always responsive, flexible and kind. The staff is also very accommodating and helpful. The first time we booked was back in 2023 and it was when they were first opening up as a venue. Prices were super reasonable in 2023. We booked another party in 2025 and prices were still very reasonable. We decided to cater through them for our party. I was a tad skeptical but was proven wrong. For a party of roughly 75, we ordered just one pan of each thing and it was more than enough. We had the fried noodles, fried rice, short rib, smoke meat, chicken wings., lumpia and fried ahi. The food was Ono!! It was so good that we thought about catering from them even if we don't have a party there. I think his name was Clyde or Klein who cooks the food - bolohead guy. I think the only take away is that you have to keep the doors closed for AC which makes sense but if you have a jumper outside it's hard to see and the kids will keep going in and out. Overall, a super great venue to hold parties with great staff.

Yes, we were intoxicated, but enough to comprehend that this place would never be rented by us again! This place is 100% needs to be shut down and I will do everything in my Will to make sure that this happens! This place is an illegal After Hours drinking spot. Look them up on TikTok to see what I am talking about and how their staff acts! After having a conversation with the management, he then fired his staff on the spot because of what has been going on! Stop lying! Because I am not going anywhere! This was 100% unacceptable and you did nothing to make it right that night! The sound system went off, the AC was shut off and we stayed in a freaking hot ass room! The back room where we went to speak to the staff about this. Where we were told to speak to the staff about this had people high off of their mind passed out.! super sad environment! This place is not for families to rent! We have to send the management back his contract for him to know what was on there! He had no idea that the set up was from 8 to 11. When we got upstairs, we were told to set up and they would clean after we left to go home and get ready.. we set up in a dirty place! Super SAD! Nothing about this place screamed professional! As a child, I remember admiring and wondering who lived in this estate that borders Kapiolani Park…read more It was once known as the Winstead House that was built around the early-1900's. The estate was huge as it included horse stables, garages for horse-drawn carriages (later for automobiles), surrounded by undulating and well-manicured landscaping. The estate once extended from the intersection of Diamond Head Road and Paki Avenue to Kapahulu Avenue, around where Jefferson Elementary now stands. Back in 1992, the house was dedicated to the City and County of Honolulu. During 2003 - 2006, the C&C did a lot of renovation to the property and had a lot of concerns about its maintenance and use. Prior to its dedication by the Winstead descendants and the C&C renovation of this property, the Diamond Head Neighborhood Board held community meetings or gatherings. This property was also used as a backdrop to some local television shows..uh, anyone remember Magnum P.I.? To date, I don't know whether or not they have been permitted to continue using the space as such. Currently, there are offices that occupy its basement area by the Parks & Recreation administrative staff. All I can say is that if I worked in this facility, it would be very difficult to get any work done. I'd be wowed by the cool, gentle breezes, sunny blue skies and close proximity of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. But, that's what makes this property perfect for the Parks & Recreation to own and manage! #306

Place is AWESOME!!! I totally forgot about this location for events too! Shoots!…read more They can hold over 300 people sitting side by side for a screening, move or even music or dancing. But they can also rearrange a sitting arrangement so there is open areas for people to stand and mingle. Then they have the lounge area. That's our favorite! The couches are enormous and the set up is immaculate! They had floor walkers and escorts who helped everyone find seats or direct them where to go. That's as a good thing. Usually m, people have to figure out what to do or where to go at these events, no?! Lol. But this was a once in a lifetime experience for us and it was AWESOME! Of course my son didn't want to watch himself on screen, but, we all loved it! He did well. In fact, they ALL DID! Every single film was done excellent! I wish we could've stayed for the whole thing, but unfortunately we had to leave early because the kids had school the next day. So we left around 9pm. Maybe next time we'll have a better chance in watching our son on screen again. Soon! For sure... Ok that's about it! OH! And the restroom! Oh my... it's an experience to have. Lol! It's amazing! One door for ALL to enter. Then as you pass the main door, your in the lobby of the restroom. Like they have in fancy theaters or auditoriums or hotels. Yup! Only difference is, there's no seats or chairs to lounge on. There's a long marble counter top with about 5 individual sinks. Each side accessible for anyone to wash up. Mirrors along the wall. And then the MENS DOOR for their restroom is on the left and the WOMENS on the right. Ever the bathroom stalls were cozy. Toilet seats were nice and comfy, not those public restroom toilets. But the hotel kine. Just without the extra fancy buttons. It's definitely somewhere anyone should go and see. Especially when they host an event there. OK NOW IM DONE! Thanks for reading! At other times, people enjoy this space as a Yoga studio/art gallery. Ward Village makes really good use of this area. Chairs are set up for the movies and concerts. A gigantic tent is erected when the weather is suggesting rain. Otherwise, the audience enjoys gentle trade winds, silhouettes of palm trees, and views of fluffy clouds, gorgeous sunsets, and sometimes... the silvery moon. There's a water feature on the far side of the courtyard, so if the sound bothers you, sit nearer to the entrance and away from the wall. Most events are free - just look for the community events online and print out your tickets! If the event you're interested in is a Brunch, the fee will be posted an you'll get a chance to try specialties of local restaurants, using a ticket system. There's ample free parking nearby and a beautiful, clean restroom on the ground floor of the "IBM Building". The co-ed sinks are a great idea for efficient use of this facility! Check it out!!!

This is a dear former colleague of mine where I saved the date. When I formally received the invitation I saw the venue and asked myself "Where is that?" Oahu Veterans Center (OVC) is a conveniently located venue in the Salt Lake area which has 2 large halls to host gatherings. They are adjacent to ample parking where it was super crowded that day but the grounds were marked to facilitate overflow of cars for those who arrived later. It was my first time here at OVC where I found the venue spacious, clean and the grounds well kept. I initially went to the wrong party as I didn't know there are several halls here. While standing in line I realized it was for a high school graduation party which clearly wasn't the event I was invited to. I made my way to the other hall where I saw a large banner with my friend's name. There's a kitchen that's adjoining to the hall. Food that evening was catered by Guieb Cafe. Our meal was buffet style where the kitchen sure came in handy with food being replenished periodically throughout the event. It was warm outside that day but the venue has decent air conditioning where we sat down in comfort throughout the event during dinner, slide show and hula performances. Overall, a great first time at OVC where I'd be game for a return visit. This is definitely a venue I'd consider if I wanted to host an event.
