First time visitors to Mellow Mushroom And I have to say I'm pretty impressed. The food was really flavorful and the service was great! I got the small pizza and it was enough for two. Hubby got the calzone and same for that two could feast on it. Our daughter got the sub and she had half of it for leftovers too. All the off is enjoyed or food! And the trio meatball appetizers were really good too! Hope you try it out it is well worth it! read more

It was slow and bad service not on top of it and even was standing around and talking not doing there jobs be better we waited an hour for our pizza and wasn't even that good I didn't even get more water read more

Food is great, but the whole restaurant smells like a sewer and has smelled that way for the last two years. Come on owners, fix the smell! If it's "coming from the street" you should be working with the city to fix. I can smell it from the back of the restaurant read more

Great pizza, great service, and great music bingo night !!! We had a great time. Just awesome!

Decided to use Uber eats to order two small pizzas. When they arrived, one was perfect and the other was cremated. Some clever individual decided to try and hide the most burnt bits by sprinkling Parmesan on them. Sadly as you can see, the camouflaged pieces were still pretty obvious. read more

Love their pizza options. I come here everytime I visit the Dallas area. Great service, reliable quality, great location.

I love Mellow Mushroom, plain and simple. It might not be my favorite pizza in the world, but the atmosphere and good vibes here more than make up for it. The staff is always welcoming. The place smells amazing also, the freshness of the pizza being made and that sweet, sweet smell of pizza sauce with a hint of oregano. Great background music and decor, too. On this particular visit we just shared a large cheese pizza. The crust is a bit too chewy for my liking but the pizza overall tasted great, especially the sauce. Our waitress also informed us about the drink special going on that included $3 Bloody Mary's, yet they tasted more like $9 Bloody Mary's! So good. They are a must try if you like your BM's spicy. Our waitress was great and seemed very cheerful. It seems like most of the staff here is like that. They have a decent sized menu as well and a glorious beer menu that we look forward to sampling more of in the future! read more

First time and will definitely go back!!!!! Pizza and atmosphere, price of food, concept, and cocktail drink are amazing!I would give 5 stars for all of that! BUT, it was the waitress that was our problem. My sister and I ordered BYO large pizza half and half. Both halves were almost similar, we both ordered anchovies for our pizza and other extra toppings. The only difference was that I ordered garlic on mine. (Like actual garlic, not just oil and garlic as base) Our pizza didn't come with anchovies and garlic, though. But pizza was so good, 2 ingredients lacking was something we didn't find to complain about. Not a big deal at all. At the end of our meal, our waitress asked how was the food, we told her how good it was. We figured we have to at least raise our concern to her, but not go on full Karen mode about it. We said "We noticed there were no anchovies or garlic in our pizza. But it was still really good." It was her answer that threw me off. She said "The garlic dissolves in the pizza. But for the anchovies, I don't know what happened." As someone who knows how to cook, garlic doesn't just "dissolve" in the food. And for someone (for everyone, really) who has common sense, garlic doesn't just "dissolve" in the food. I mean, come on. If she didn't know or made a mistake when she took our orders, she could've at least be honest about it. Maybe let someone higher than her handle it, or be professional enough to apologize. She probably thought were were stupid and would actually believe her. Her answer seemed like she was convincing us to believe her stupidity, but in return it made her look even more pathetic about her knowledge--or lack thereof. Her knowledge was so low I didn't want to stoop down to a level of knowledge that low and reason with her. After her nonsense, we just said "Okay, thanks." Maybe passive/aggressive, but some people aren't really worth talking to or reasoning with, and she's the perfect example. read more

We came in on a Wednesday. I asked for a beer menu and about 10 minutes was given a mixed drink menu. Our waitress promptly disappeared for the next 20 minutes or so before I was finally able to give up and get a water. The food wait time here is generally slow, but at least I can usually have a beer to pass the time. The food service time tonight was significantly slower than usual, we are no here almost an hour with only an appetizer to have come out of the kitchen. The place is maybe only half full so it's not just a busy night thing... We've come here for many years, not sure I'll continue read more

Only come to Denton once per year..Usually good service. However it took one hour after ordering to get our pizza. Could be better.

I love Mellow Mushroom and this location makes the same quality pizza that you can expect at any of their locations.

Picked up a Kosmic Karma through online ordering and it was a great experience! No waiting for our pizza when we arrived to pick it up, despite the restaurant being really busy. The pizza was absolutely delicious, honestly one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The only complaint that I have is that they could be taking social distancing more seriously. Every time I go to pick up food for myself or as an Uber Eats driver, the building is always pretty crowded, especially at the front waiting area and the bar. read more

Literally the worst pizza that I've ever had. I didn't even get a chance to take pictures I was so disgusted. We ordered wings that we undercooked, and the pizza was overcooked. The toppings were burnt and had zero seasoning. The guy that was our waiter was not visible & present, he didn't return to ask how our food was. When we finally got a chance to call him back over to send the pizza back he literally dropped the entire pizza on back on the table and on my arm. read more

I love it here! Good smell, good food, good interior. Nuff said, this is the best pizza place I ve ever been to. I fell in love with their Thai Dye from the first time ever. Try it if you have any Asian sense interest! Service depends tho. Most of them are great, but not all :) read more

I put a to-go order in this evening for 1 pizza and one salad. With it being a Saturday, I understood that the wait had the possibility to be a little longer than expected so I gave it 35 minutes before I went to pick up. After asking politely for the front desk person to look up from her phone along with 2 different people going back to look for my order (after coming back with no recollection that I was even there), I was informed that it would be an additional 45 minute wait due to it being busy. My assumption is that my order didn't even get processed. The food is excellent and the bartender from Chicago is fantastic, but this experience put a very sour taste in my mouth. read more

Terrible rude service. We are patient in knowing that the service industry is hurting right now. But if we arrive 15 min after our order was supposed to be ready and then you rudely tell us 15 more minutes that is unacceptable. Then after eating an additional 20 min find out our order had been ready all along. Cold food and unconcerned staff. This will be our last visit. read more

Simply Incredible! I ordered the house Special as a Calzone and am amazed! The marinara alone is worth visiting Mello Mushroom. A large selection of craft beer bottled beer, and standard bar drinks as well. The Calzone arrived hot, crispy, tender, juicy and very flavorful. So impressed with the quality of this food. Will definitely be coming back to Denton if not just for Mello Mushroom. read more

Never an issue with service or friendliness but we're definitely done with this restaurant. This is due to the food somewhat but they've priced us out of contention. Medium sized pizza and large salad with one iced tea drink and tip: $43.00! The salad was OK but the pizza we expected would "Wow!" was perhaps a 6 on the old 1-10 scale. J&Js always had the best pricey pizza but sadly they're long gone. The thing is...there are several nice Italian restaurants in the area where we can order nice regular Italian dishes with salads for this amount of money. read more

Mellow mushroom is a fun restaurant with really good pizza, but pretty expensive. The restaurant is nice and open with lots of fun decorations. There are a lot of comfortable booths and the bar is a fun place to sit. The kitchen is open so you can see the dough being thrown up into the air. There are lots of tvs if you want to watch a game. The booths are really deep so if you are in a date you kinda kinda escape all the other distractions. The servers are always very friendly and helpful. They do a great job checking on you and getting everything you need. The menu has a very large selection. They have multiple types of appetizers, pizzas, salads, and sandwiches. I have heard the the pretzels are really good, but always stick with just pizza. They have a large selection of pizzas that sound great. Now the main reason that we eat here, they have vegan cheese and crust. For a small extra fee you can get vegan cheese on any pizza. We always get the veggie pizza with the vegan cheese and it's delicious. They overload veggies, including broccoli, my favorite on pizza. The crust is nice and soft and tastes homemade. The pizza is really really good. The only negative about this place is that it's s little expensive. Would eat here a lot more if it was little cheaper, but makes for a special pizza outing. If you are vegan you should definitely check it out read more

I ordered a shiitake pizza delivery, and ended up with a completely different pizza with stuff on it that I dont eat (bacon, olives etc. ) They sent a replacement after another half hour but it was swimming in ranch sauce, so much that I had to spoon it off. Super disappointing because I loved this pizza last time I got it and ended up with a subpar evening from having to wait so long for a botched pizza. read more

Food tasted like nothing. Orders 2 entrees and they both were as bland as cardboard. Would not go back nor recommend

C'mon guys I ordered a Pizza from Steve's Wine Bar on Wednesday night after 8:30 and you can't deliver it 4 doors away? So I pick it up at precisely 30 minutes like you said and it's starting to get cold. Your pizza is pretty good, but you really lack in customer service read more

Vegans! We got the Localvore Brutus salad. SO FRIGGIN GOOD. They sauteed the mushrooms in oil for us instead of Garlic butter- and we didn't even have to ask! They are so vegan knowledgeable. I love it. We also asked them to take off the Feta cheese and do Balsamic Vinegarette instead of Caesar dressing. We also got a side of Garlic Oil to pour on it. We couldn't even take a picture of the beauty because we devoured it so fast. Sorry! Haha. Yum yum yummy YUM!!!! #sogood Oh and we also got the Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout beer that is also vegan read more

They have VEGAN pizza. Vegans, rejoice. You can also get vegan pizza gluten free! I haven't had great pizza since I became vegan and I haven't had great gluten free crust ever. It's always "passable for gluten free and I wanted pizza". This wasn't just passable, it was actually great gluten free pizza crust! That alone is such a feat. I wish it came in bigger sizes, 10" isnt really big enough at all. Hint hint! And I hope they expand their vegan gluten free options! (Build your own is way expensive and there's basically only one gluten free vegan option that's built into the menu and even that has to be requested vegan). read more

Food was great but my calzone needed more meat. Paid like $14 for bread. Service was pretty good and food was despite the negatives, I'd just ask for extra meat in yours if you ever order one! read more

I stopped in to see if they were open and decided to grab and go. Since I wasn't sure about ordering a whole pizza for myself I was glad to see that they had several salads all which come in a smaller size. I tried out the tortilla soup and it was AMAZING! By far one of THE BEST I have ever had. I am looking forward to trying out their pizzas and those that I saw at tables around me looked kind of like California Pizza Kitchen style. I am excited. Only wish they had whole wheat crust. Cant wait to go back. read more

Even though it's a chain, the Mellow Mushroom fits right in with Denton's laid-back vibe. I liked the decor, especially the booths draped with fabric that offered a bit more privacy from the room. The menu includes salads, hoagies and calzones, but the big draw seems to be pizza. It's a good choice, with a golden, crisp, bubbly crust, They offer a broad array of pre-created pizzas, or you can create your own. I went with the Mellowterranean, which included feta and mozzarella, onion, red bell pepper and chicken (I eschewed the black olives). A well-chosen amalgam of ingredients, though I might have left off the chicken, and again, that crust really carried the day! The 10" four-piece pizza is plenty for one person (or even two for lunch, depending on your appetite). It harshes my mellow that this chain isn't in my part of the country yet, because I sure could go for some more of that crust. You guys in Denton will just have to enjoy it for me! read more

Delicious gluten free pizza and toppings are really good. If you want GF pizza this is the best one in the area.

I'm so surprised I'm writing this on what was my formally favorite place in Denton - ever since they've opened. I mean, I've always had some, um... interesting dining experiences here but I've simply chalked it up to just part of the experience. But today, it legit felt like an episode of Punked. Well, after a total lack of consideration for my teenage boy who's brand new new to crutches (broken angle, shattered foot), upon arriving, it just went truly downhill. Apparently, the manager has started some Great 2020 Ranch Dressing War against customers. The place was just downright bizarre and uncomfortable today - in a very awful way. P.S. if you're going to be so "environmentally friendly" that you refuse plastic straws for customers, then actually be so. The endless plastic side dressing cups and plastic cocktail drinks are a very easy way to reduce plastic - just use reusable dishes! Ugh, I'm just over the place. It's become an annoying struggle, every time, to eat here. I'm such a longtime, frequent customer but after today, I'm done. Best of luck to them, anyhow. read more

I used to love this place so much but it seems like the staff has gotten worse and worse... Unfortunately had so many errors with our order last time we visited... The pizza was still delicious even though it wasn't the one we ordered! read more

I've grown up going to Mellow Mushroom, it's one of my most favorite pizza places. I lived in Denton for 2 years and loved the Denton location. I recently came back home and brought a friend from out of state to try MM for the first time. We showed up on a Friday at 2pm and it was empty but we were seated right away. I have to say, I have never truly had a bad experience at this location the many times I've been but the ONLY issue we had was the entire restaurant reeked of sewage. The issue seemed to have been coming from the bathroom as I couldn't even stay in there long enough to use the restroom. We were sat near the restroom so our entire meal was masked by the smell. The pizza was amazing as usual but it was not what I was hoping to show my friend from out of state. We had to eat as quickly as we could. The staff were super super friendly but seemed completely unphased by the smell since no one mentioned it. I was told by another local Denton establishment that all of Hickory has an issue with sewage. I hope whatever the issue is can be solved because that really left a bad taste, in more ways than one . read more

Foods amazing, and Thursday night music bingo is amazing fun! Just a great atmosphere, and really great pizza too.

Set up an order with Micah at Mellow Mushroom Denton, early in the day New Years Eve. That evening, he delivered smiles and fresh pizza to my daughters hospital, so she and the other Nurses working her covid unit could go into 2021 on a positive note. It worked! My daughter told me that all the Nurses were beyond surprised, and happy to be sharing in this special delivery. Couldn't have done it without you Micah! You and Mellow Mushroom will always be my #1! On Saturday January 22nd. I experienced one of the worst customer service events in my life at this little Denton Pizza joint. Simple scenario, a surprise birthday bash for my wife at a fantastic wine bar in downtown Denton. I sent in an order to the Mellow Mushroom restaurant 50 yards away to get food for the party. I sent in the order a day previous, setup the exact time of pickup, and called two hours ahead of time to reiterate how important it was to have the order ready in time! ( surprise party) the staff said, absolutely! We will start on it very soon. Sent our son to pick it up. NOT READY. He waited 20 minutes, as the time for the surprise loomed closer. Still, NOT READY. No apologies, no options like ( go to the party, we will deliver it when it's finally done ) in fact, they gave him attitude, like he was being the jerk here. He finally got the food ( missed his mothers surprise birthday expression ). The general manager Tori gave him her card, but again, no apologies. The following day I called the general manager, Tori. I introduced myself, her reply was " I know who you are, it's really busy right now, can I call you back later?" I asked if I should call her in about 2 hours ( to make sure we actually did talk) she said No! I have your number, hung up. NO RETURN CALL. Just so you have perspective, this wasn't a few pies and some drinks. This was around $200 in food. As a journalist of 30 years I have seen this kind of lack of professionalism in many fields but it always feels more ironic coming from the service industry. If you are not even remotely interested in the customer outcome why are you in this job? Can't be the money! A simple lack of respect and ability to admit fault by staff and management caused a ripple effect that could easily have been avoided. Management 101 here. If you look over the reviews on this MM location the comments in the negative column are specifically about hours long waits or staff attitudes. These are management issues. Bad mangers have bad staff working for them. This might speak to the fact that there are now only 4 MM franchises in the DFW area, one of the largest and still fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country. Maybe it's time for this mushroom to shrivel up and blow away. Next stop is ownership. Peter N. Feel free to reach out Tori has my number... read more

I'm pretty sure the wait staff want this business to go under. I look forward to eating at the next establishment that will occupy this space as I can't imagine this place gets enough repeat business based on my groups experience here.
