Mellow Mushroom Denton is Mellow #6 on my journey to rate all of America's Mellow Mushrooms and #3 of 4 in DFW. Mellow Mushroom Denton is a college town Mellow through and through. Whereas suburban Mellows are staffed by the local High School edge lords seeking vape money, college town Mellows tend to be staffed by collegiate edge lords seeking rent money after their parents cut them off after getting one too many piercings. These guys did a phenomenal job serving my Girlfriend and I. Our server Kendrick (I believe that was his name) performed nothing short of a service-worker miracle by taking one look at my Girlfriend's ID and addressing her by name for the remainder of our stay. After I'd given him my card to pay, he returned with a "Have a good night Patrick." Kendrick's talents are wasted as a server, he needs to become the charismatic Mayor of a medium sized town as soon as possible. The pizza came out rather slowly but that's to be expected from all Mellows, perfection takes time. I'd place the décor at a solid 5/10 relative to other Mellows, with nothing to make them stand out except for the boot chandelier-- never seen that before at the other 5 I've been to. read more

The Mellow Mushroom in Denton just might be a little too "mellow" for my taste. While the restaurant was very clean, the atmosphere was a little bland and uninviting. I think I expected more of a "groovy," colorful vibe. We were seated quickly, our orders taken in an efficient manner, but other than that the service was just so-so. Despite our meal being early on a Saturday evening (not crowded), our server only checked in with us a few times. The food was very good and more reasonably priced than I expected. I've been living in Denton almost my entire life. Around 3-5 years ago mellow mushroom really started going downhill. The food takes FOREVER to come out. The servers are always super nice, but it's super slow, and they're not very attentive. The food is always really good, but it takes SO LONG. it's also pretty dirty. I don't think anything is wiped down, I hope they put some more care into this place soon. read more

Delicious!!!! Very large slices! A very pleasant surprise. The pizza and service was very impressionable. We ordered both pepperoni as well as a pepperoni and sausage pizza and both were equally tasty. Cheesy and doesn't have too much tomato sauce. The bread isn't too thick even though it looks like it. In addition to amazing pizza, the spinach dip was by far the best I've ever had. I can't describe it, I won't do it justice. You've got to try it. Service was on point. We were a group of 6 and our sever didn't miss a beat. He made sure our refills were always on time. We didn't wait periods of time for anything. Spacious restaurant. Very clean. Mellow Mushroom is the best pizza we have found in Fentkn and we are so excited to go back and try the rest of the menu. We visited last Saturday as Denton's Day of the Fead festival was just getting going. We had absolutely amazing service. We had the the Pacific Rim, the Mighty Meat, and the Pretzel Bites. Everything was on point. The crust on the pizzas was cooked well and was delicious. In fact it's the type of pizza we have been looking for since we left Seattle 4 months ago. Mellow Mushroom gets a 20/30. The pizza was good it was a little more suacy than I like and the dough is thicker which is fine with me. There was a nice crunch to the pizza and the flavors are stronger so if you are eating one by yourself the small is more than enough to fill you. The Sandwich was okay I'm my opinion mainly because we got tired of eating it half way through. It was just meaty and suacy, it didn't have the refreshness that you want in a sandwich that wants us to go in for another bite. The pricing is fair being $14 but this place will fill you up. The service was amazing with friendly staff that is super attentive to your needs. Overall Denton does not have much good restaurants but this place if one of the best in town. read more

My family had a good experience last night at Mellow Mushroom in Denton. Our pizza was great, and consistent with other Mellow mushroom experiences I've had at other locations. Our service was timely and satisfactory! Tattiana did a great job and was attentive to our table. The restaurant-experience itself was lacking. The restaurant was humid and the a/c seemed to be struggling keeping up with the July heat. Customers were fanning themselves with their menus. I'd also recommend adding activity/coloring sheets back or a kid's menu in any capacity. When I asked if there was anything available for kids, I was offered a UNT magazine and a pen- while the gesture was kind, it certainly wouldn't be age appropriate for my kids. Young families just aren't the target demographic for this location, and that's alright- we'll happily return as to-go customers! read more

We had a slight expectation viewing the Yelp reviews. Our waitress was very sweet and told us that each pizza took about 20-25 min to bake and so if we were very hungry then we should get an appetizer. I love how each pizza is made to order and comes out fresh and hot! We got 10 Hot Oven Roasted Wings They were tangy and not too spicy. It came with carrot, celery and your choice of dipping sauce. (Ranch or Blue cheese) Then we got a Medium 14" half Buffalo Chicken and half House Special. **When ordering a half/half pizza, they charge you for both! Mellow Mushroom has been a Denton staple for quite a while. My kids ADORE this place, which is a feat all in itsself. They have a plethora of combo options, but our fave is the HOLY SHITAKE. Let's just say its not for anyone with a lactose intolerance or gluten issue, but damn is it GEWD!. P.S. the cool thing is they have ovo-veggie options, full vegetarian options, gluten free options, and EVEN HAVE VEGAN CHEESE & TOFU options on the menu... Try the Tempeh hoagie too for awesome flavor. We are visiting from SoCal where pizza joints are a dime a dozen. We picked Mellow Mushroom because of my daughter's celiac disease. Our server, Alex, was awesome. Super attentive & helpful with the GF menu. We ordered 3 pies- the Thai dye, mighty meaty & a build your own GF with misc stuff on it. My daughter's GF was the best she's ever had (and GF pizza is plentiful in California so this is huge). The Thai dye is a great original pizza with a Thai curry feel, I'd highly recommend. The mighty meaty was pretty yummy too. Food came out quick & hot and all the employees were friendly & welcoming. We felt like locals. This will be a go to place when we visit again. read more

We sat a long time before even being brought a menu or offered drinks. The sweet tea is good. It's loud inside. The seating is ample. The staff is nice and friendly just not Johnny on the spot. We got a pepperoni pizza. Its center was puddled with grease. It was just ok. We also got a Greek salad. Not much to write home about, hard to mess up a Greek salad. Someone in our party ordered the salad that had strawberries and pineapples and they were out of strawberries.
