Went here for dinner while on travel in Denton, TX. I ate at the bar, ordering the pork chops with Brussels and a dinner salad. I asked the bartender to use the bourbon glaze on one chop and the other without. The entire meal was delicious. The pork was moist and flavorful. The Brussels were charged well, but did have a dominate sauce flavor. The bartender was hospitable and the atmosphere was pleasant. On Mother's Day I called for a reservation from the UNT graduation. After checking, the person who answered the phone said we could be accommodated at 2:30 under my name. When we got there, the woman at the desk named Bree said there was no reservation and she was really nasty about it. I told her I don't lie, but she continued to say, "but you don't have a reservation." Thank goodness for Gigi who was so accommodating despite the MDay crowd. We have been to this location a couple of times since they opened. The service has been consistent good. I've had their crab cakes both times which is quite good. Their wedge salad is also good. Last time I ordered their ribeye which was cooked exactly as I had requested. Seasoning was perfect, just right and didn't take away from the flavor of the beef. Saltgrass is a family favorite. My favorite splurge is to add the Oscar topping to the filet. Our daughter loves a good ribeye and a Caesar salad. My husband's favorite salad is the wedge. This review addresses a troubling experience that I feel obligated to document. As a white male, I had limited exposure to discrimination until marrying my Hispanic wife. Over the years, I have witnessed my wife and daughters being treated differently because of their ethnicity. While my wife has unfortunately become accustomed to this, I am not--and I will not stay silent when I see it happen. On April 18, 2026, my wife and I visited Saltgrass Steakhouse in Denton, TX. There were four open seats at the bar, all set with placemats, glasses, and receipts from prior patrons. We took two of those seats. The bartender made direct eye contact with us but continued chatting with other bartenders. We waited for over five minutes without acknowledgment. An older white couple then sat in the two remaining open seats next to us. At that point, the bartender immediately stopped talking, went directly to them, cleaned their area, and asked for their drink order--without addressing us at all. I asked, admittedly frustrated, whether our area would be cleaned as well. Instead of addressing the situation, she served the white couple their drinks first and returned to conversation, while we continued to receive no service. By the time she finally acknowledged us, we had been seated for nearly 15 minutes. After that couple left, another mixed-race couple sat nearby. When the bartender took their order, she did not offer bread, which is standard service at Saltgrass. When she later took our order, we also were not offered bread. Shortly after, two white men sat on the opposite side of us. The bartender immediately took their order and explicitly offered them fresh bread. At that point, the pattern was unmistakable: two mixed-race couples were ignored, delayed, and not offered standard service, while white patrons received prompt attention and courtesy. This was not poor service--it was discriminatory service. This will be my last visit to Saltgrass Steakhouse. Treating customers differently based on the color of their skin is unacceptable, and management should be deeply concerned that this behavior occurred openly at the bar. Every guest deserves equal respect and service. Shame on this establishment for failing to provide that. read more

Mikey had a perfectly cooked steak with broccoli. He said it was excellent. See picture, it was a 9 oz filet, very bare, no? But good! I had a Blackened Red fish, pretty presentation but over cooked with roasted Brussels sprouts that were cold AND black with crisp centers, yuck. Sent first one back and an identical one was returned. Another restaurant in the books. Here in Denton on a work trip and this Saltgrass location is walking distance from my hotel. I decided I might as well check them out for the first time. I ordered my usual work road trip meal, a 10oz sirloin, Brussels sprouts, fries, and a glass of wine. Everything was fantastic. The Bartender, Willow, was very patient with me and attended to all my needs. The restaurant was somewhat busy but she was still able to keep with the needs of all the guests assigned to her. I will definitely make this location my go-to when in the Denton area. read more

We just enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at Saltgrass. I had the tenderloin tips with mushrooms in a cognac sauce served over a bed of mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious and our visit was further enhanced by our server, Carter. He truly was one of the most attentive and personable servers we have had in a very long time. We'll never go back there. Staff and waitress was good but the cooks don't know how to cook a steak and this is a restaurant that specializes in steak ordered my steak medium. It was a medium to medium, rare out of brussels sprouts and the brussels sprouts were burnt and over salted. Again, what makes them breaks. Most restaurants is the combination of both service and quality of food. Both rely heavily in each other even though the waitress was tipped 20% as I normally do in my mind it's extended you're guaranteed and one of two things great service but lousy food or great food but lousy service thank you again you have once affirmed why I don't do Denton steakhouses. read more

Well another one bites the dust. I ate at Saltgrass weekly for years in Rockwall and it was always lovely. Since moving to Denton 10 or so years ago I stopped. I tried this relatively new location in Denton and could not have been more disappointed. I can't say enough bad things so just suffice to say I'll never go back.... I know it was a holiday but my family and I were very disappointed with the quality of the food on Thursday. First the salad dressing both ranch and honey mustard were very vinegary and off putting. Two of our party order entree salads and neither finished them because of the taste if the dressings, same with my dinner salad. My ribeye steak was served cold and I do not believe the broccoli had been cooked at all. The server did take the steak back to the kitchen and when returned it was barely warm. The redfish was ok but the crab meat in the topping was funky. The bread was the only thing that was good and even it was not warm when served. Always wanted to try salt grass after hearing good things. This spot just opened up not too long ago which is nice to have more option in the city of Denton. Came in with my family for lunch. The place is clean and there's plenty of open tables and booths. Unfortunately when entering we were greeted but it wasn't friendly. It gave a rude vibe and she sat us to a table. I requested if we could be seated in a booth but she said there was none available for us due to servers? Even though there were a plethora of booths available. Gave a little attitude about how we would have wait for a booth which confused me. So we just sat at the table debating if we even wanted to dine here. after we sat down our sever Dillon greeted us warmly and was just the total opposite from the hostess. Because of him we decided to stay and dine. Funny enough our server was also serving another guest that sat in a booth next to our table so I didn't quite get why we couldn't be seated at the booth. Dillon gave us the rundown of the menu and was a complete joy. He got our drink orders quickly and after he gave his suggestions we placed our food order. We ordered the bacon wrapped steak with grilled shrimp with Oscar toppings asparagus and Caesar salad. We also got the 2 ribeye steaks one with Caesar salad and smothered but I wouldn't call it smothered more of a trickle felt very skimpy with side of broccoli the other ribeye with potato soup and fried onions. The steaks were cooked to our preference and shrimp grilled nicely. The food was good and nicely seasoned. I did enjoy the soup as well. Our drinks were always refilled and Dillon came to check on us frequently. Overall enjoyed a good meal but the price was a bit high for the quality/quantity. I'm not sure if I would come back here. Made a reservation for 4 at 6pm requesting a booth and accommodation for a walker. We arrived at 555 and were immediately seated at our booth that was on the end so plenty of space for the walker. The waiter was great and the salad was brought out quickly. I love their house salad, it's always so fresh and tasty. The rest of the food took a bit (they were really busy), the tacos were good and fresh and my steak was delicious. A great experience and night out with our parents. read more

Our first time at our new Denton Saltgrass, and it was a great evening of restaurant dining. Our server, Rachel, knew the menu well, was fantastic with our 2 grandsons, and kept all of us happy. EVEN the boys!! All of our food was delivered to our table at the correct temperature and with smiling faces. We started with the Brisket Queso. The boys had pizza and cheeseburger, respectively. Hubby and I shared the Filet Midalions (baked potato and house salad), and Son-in-law had the Lorado Chicken (Cesar salad and Smoked Mac-n-cheese) All was tasty and not enough left over to take home. Did I mention our server? Rachel, we are keeping! She did an amazing job. She had at least 2 other tables and still kept us feeling like we were her only guests. We will be asking for her whenever we return! I enjoyed the fact that the only TV's we in the bar area. Hubby mentioned several times what a great job was done with the interior decor as this had once been a different style restaurant. My wife and I both ordered the Pat's Ribeye, and they could not have looked more different. Mine was grey and hers looked perfect. Mine was bubblegum, and hers was average. Didn't eat mine, and they didn't charge me, but I was pissed, and they did nothing to make me ever come back. Everyone just avoided us, even though I said nothing, not more than 10 words. They knew they screwed up and now we will never be back. They could have made us want to give them another chance, but they didn't. As a consumer we pay too much for a steak, that we can usually make better, so if we get great service and a solid steak, we may come back. But they will never get our business again. We enjoy Saltgrass a lot and before the one in Denton opened we would have to drive to Lewisville to eat. So it's very convenient this location in Denton opened. Fried mushrooms were the appetizer and they are very good. Not overly fried. Salads came next and those were also very good. My wife and ordered the Maudeen's Center Cut Filet. She god a baked potato and I got the herb rice. The steaks were cooked medium and they were perfect. Everything was a 10 out of 10 except the rice. Was way overcooked and mushy and had a very gummy texture. I didn't eat it. Everything else was fantastic. Also the service was outstanding. Everyone was so nice and if a server walked by our table and noticed our drinks were low of we had empty plates they would take care of it. Excellent service. read more
