Beer is very good and a nice variety, not overloaded with IPA like most craft breweries. Our server was great. High-energy and he knew the menu very well (food and beers). The food missed the mark a bit. The Reuben has their own sauce instead of a good thousand islands dressing and it wasn't great. A Reuben doesn't have interchangeable ingredients. It came with "salt and pepper" fries but these completely tasteless fries had neither (as in not a sprinkle of either). A salad was described as "OK". We went to UB on a Saturday for lunch. The parking lot was packed, so we were excited to try this place out. Walking in, we were greeted and sat pretty much instantly, with a party of 7, which honestly, was amazing since it was so busy. The server came over immediately and was friendly, conversing with me and my family. Love the vibe from the server, so I knew it was going to be a great experience. The restaurant was VERY clean and even though there were a ton of people there, it was still very quiet and we did not struggle to have a conversation with the entire table. The bathrooms were also very clean and tidy, which is always a plus. I got a Hef to start off my meal as I am a big sucker for for a good Hef. It was VERY good, so I had two ;) We got some chips and queso and some pretzel bites for an appetizer. The chips were seasoned well, but the queso was just ok. I had the burger, my wife had the falafel burger, and the kids had pizza. Our friends had salads. All the food came out VERY quick. It was VERY good and fresh. The pizza looked and tasted amazing. I really enjoyed the burger and the fries were also very tasty. The other food also looked really good and my friends said how much they enjoyed it. We finished out the meal with some brownie and lemon blueberry cakes. Both were really good, not too sweet, although the brownie was teetering on the side of too sweet, I still enjoyed it. Another great visit at union bear in Denton! This time we ordered sweet and spicy shrimp, drinking snacks, meat and cheese board and built our own pizza. We asked for an EVOO base, mozz and roasted garlic topped with pepperoni and red onion. We also ordered alcoholic drinks, brut sparkling wine for me and beer for my husband. The waitress misheard and brought me a blueberry golden root ? mule they have but took it off the bill and let me keep it while also bringing back the correct drink. I don't normally like blueberry but the drink was actually tasty, it made me feel bad for asking for my original order. The waitress was really nice and made sure to check on us at appropriate times. There were a few things I would definitely recommend above others- like the Mediterranean plate and the fish and chips. This is my favorite date night spot to get food and drinks. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is amazing. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The drinks are always hitting and don't get me started on their holiday ones . Definitely order a pizza, don't question it. If that's all you get, I promise it won't disappoint. We recently visited the Union Bear in Denton, we had been to the Frisco/Plano location before but we really like the quaintness and decor of the Denton location. Our server Daisy was AWESOME! she was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Especially in giving good recommendations when we were between items. We got the pretzel bites to start, which were really good! The salad with blackened salmon on top and I forget what they were called but similar to a "dynamite shrimp" type dish were both really good too! Drinks were also great (my husband got a few different beers all of which he said were nice! He drinks mostly IPA drinks and is super picky so for him to find good beer is saying alot! I had a few different cocktails all of which were super refreshing on the hot day it was) we would recommend anything to eat or drink from there for sure! I have been to the Union Bear in Plano and loved it. I was excited to learn that there is now a location in Denton. We went with a large group of friends and the Union Bear staff took great care of us. Everyone received their orders and their correct bills. The beer selection is huge and includes not only their beer but other brewery's beers. I like to try a variety, so I had a flight. Union Bear's Belgian Dubbel was my favorite of the 4 beers I tasted, but they were all good. The food is delicious. I had the spicy chicken sandwich. The sandwich and the fries that it came with were perfect. I was also able to sample a chicken wing and a pretzel bite from friends' orders. They were both very good, but the chicken wings were the best I have ever had. Visiting Denton on another work trip, I decided to stop in Union Bear for a dinner. It was quite a bit of a wait for seating but that typically is a sign that the food is really good. Once seated, we were greeted by the very bubbly waitress and ordered a bbq chicken pizza, Woodsman Pizza, Falafel Burger, craft beer, and blueberry lemon cake for dessert. The cake was by far the best part of the meal in my opinion. We loved the BBQ chicken pizza and the craft beer as well. The Woodsman pizza was a miss for me. It was a bit too heavy in terms of sauce and cheesiness and not what I expected from reading the menu description. But others may love it. Just wasn't for me. The falafel burger was pretty decent. Overall, I give this place a 3.5 out of 5. Very good. I will definitely try some of their other items in the future. read more

For only opening a couple of months ago, Union Bear has it together. We stopped in for a drink on a Monday, mid-afternoon. There were several people dining, but given the large size of the brewery/restaurant, there were still several tables available. We ended up sitting at the bar because we were not dining. Our bartender was super friendly. They do have a happy hour featuring some of their flagship beers, but I decided on the American wheat with blackberry. I loved this beer. I think they add blackberry puree to their wheat beer, which makes it not too sweet to the palate. My wife got a flight of 4 beers, my favorite was the hazelnut coffee stout. People sitting near us ordered food. It smelled amazing. Their pizza looks excellent. I'll definitely come back here when I'm in the area. Can't wait to try the food! read more
