Smoked Garlic Jalapeno Bacon Cheddar Burger with chicken

Love that they can sub the burgers for grilled chicken! This was delish, could have used some more of the sauce bc it didn't taste like garlic until the last bite. We got fried pickles & okra and both were delish!

Brisket Queso.... Can you say Texas?

Food was pretty darn good. Service was great. A nice hole in the wall for good food and just relaxing for a bit.

Breakfast shot- highly recommend

Service was great. Came in for a salad (there are not a lot of places in the area with salad offerings). Food was good. Tried the breakfast shot which I'd never heard of- butterscotch schnapps, piece of bacon with OJ back. Its amazing! Tasted just like breakfast

Rooster's is one of those rare spots that never lets you down. We popped in for lunch and everything was on point from the second we walked in. We were seated right away (huge win at lunchtime), and our server was genuinely friendly -- not the fake "scripted" kind, but the actually-enjoys-their-job kind. The food came out ridiculously fast, piping hot, and full of flavor. I swear they have a kitchen wizard back there turning out meals at record speed. The vibe? Classic roadhouse -- fun, lively, and laid-back without being overwhelming. It's the type of place you feel comfortable bringing kids, friends, or even out-of-towners you're trying to impress with Denton's hidden gems. Pros: Seated quickly, even at lunch rush Super friendly and efficient staff Food came out FAST and tasted amazing Generous portions that actually fill you up Prices that make you double-take in a good way -- plenty of food without wrecking your wallet Cons: Leaving so full you need a nap is kind of inevitable Parking can be a headache during peak hours (but worth it once you're inside) Bottom line: Rooster's is the definition of a Denton staple. Great food, shockingly fast service, friendly staff, and prices that make eating out actually feel reasonable again. It's the kind of place that turns "just lunch" into your new favorite tradition.

I love Rooster's Roadhouse! We've been coming here ever since I moved to Denton about two years ago for college, and it's become one of my go-to spots. It's such a classic Denton place, and it never misses. Their chicken nuggets are seriously so good--probably my favorite thing on the menu. Every now and then we try the special of the day, and it's always a hit. The food is consistently amazing, and the vibes are just right. Anytime I have family come to town, we make sure to stop by Rooster's. The service is always friendly, the food never disappoints, and the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming. If you're in Denton, you have to check this place out.

The bill. $33 for lunch. A bit pricey but it was delicious

Stopped by for lunch and the food was excellent. Service was quick and the ambiance was fun. I ordered the two meat platter with sausage and pulled pork with side dish of slaw was very good and served with homemade chips and Texas toast. Other dish we had was their famous hamburger and it did not disappoint. A bit on the pricey side for two lunch meals $33.

Single Meat Bbq Plate - chopped brisket

We stopped in as a party of 5 Sunday evening, and were acknowledged right away by the bartender but had to wait a little over 5 mins for someone to actually come and seat us. Our server was very nice and efficient. We ordered fried pickles and fried jalapeños as well as the queso, salsa and chips - everything was yummy. My kids both ordered the steak fingers and fries and enjoyed their meals. We ordered two single meat plates with chopped meat- chopped brisket onion rings and okra and the Tennessee Texas hot sandwich with chips. Tennessee Texas hot sandwich was misleading bc it was not spicy although the breading was red and was not flavored. It was very underwhelming but everything else was great. I will say, Bathrooms were small and dirty. My son went into the men's restroom and walked right back out stating it was too dirty for him to use. If in the area, we would prob stop again.

Patty Melt and fries (extra $3-something for fries)

My partner in food wanted to try the King Kong against my better judgment. Looking at the photos, it didn't appear conceivable - to make matters worse, he wanted it to go! It came deconstructed. Four HUMONGOUS beef patties and probably a whole pound of bacon and beautifully melted cheddar. The bun was questionable, mostly because it was nowhere near enough bread for all that meat, but I get it, in a challenge situation, I wouldn't want to load up on bread. The patties were well seasoned and firm. I would have preferred medium, but since I was sharing, well done was fine. Not over done and still juicy. It also came with a container full of steak fries! I admittedly put a hurting in the fries, dipping them in the house ranch mixed with the jalapeño ranch. I wanted the fries to be crispier and the ranch to be thicker, but they were delicious nonetheless!! So how much of it did we finish?? I finished one patty with out bread!! My partner finished one and a half patties with sandwich bread. The bun got designated to my leftover patty. Tomorrow's lunch will be a single patty burger with half a pound of bacon!

The food looked great when it came out -- generous portions and nice presentation -- but the flavor didn't quite live up to the visuals. The burger patties were cooked through but a little dry, and the seasoning was pretty mild. The mushroom and onion topping added some flavor, but the bun felt a bit soggy halfway through. The cheeseburger was fine, but nothing that really stood out. The chili dog had plenty of chili and cheese on top, but the chili itself was a bit bland and heavy. The fries were thick and crunchy at first, but cooled off quickly and lost their crisp. They tasted more like frozen fries than fresh-cut. Service was polite and friendly, though the wait for food felt a little long considering it wasn't busy when we came in. The place has a laid-back, old-school diner vibe, which is nice in theory, but the inside could use a little refresh. It's not bad if you're nearby and craving a burger, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I should preface this by saying I'm not from Texas (but am currently in the process of moving…read morehere). I decided to try it because it was down the street from my apartment. Something about this place just gave the vibe that they had good food. Maybe the slightly overgrown parking lot, the fact that there was nobody there, and the building was older. Anyway, I walk in and this random customer asked if I had been there before. I said no, and he said something along the lines of, "You've just stumbled upon a legendary burger joint". Some of the decor was a bit schizophrenic, but in a cool way. There was a car shell mounted to the ceiling, old movie posters everywhere, and a bunch of random decorations on shelves. I just ordered the namesake time machine burger and it was incredible. So good, I ordered a second one. Everyone working was very friendly too and the owner seemed like a really great guy. It's the slightly rundown greasy hole-in-the-wall places like this that always have the best food. I could never recommend it enough. They also have a burger with peanut butter on it which I've been told is really good, so I'll have to try that next time.

Burger Time Machine in Denton definitely feels like a local college dive burger spot. With the…read morevintage movie posters on the walls, college kids writing formulas on the walls, an arcade, pool table, and picnic-table-style seating, it has a fun after-school hangout vibe. For lunch, I ordered the #9 Love Affair burger combo with sweet potato fries and added a side of onion rings. The sweet potato fries came in a good portion, which I appreciated. The onion rings, though, were $3.99 for only 6 rings, and that did not feel like a good value. The burger patty itself was the perfect thickness and cooked well, but it had almost no flavor on its own. The only real flavor came from the add-ons I chose, which were egg and pineapple jam. Because of that, the overall flavor just did not match the $22 price tag for lunch. Cool local vibe, decent presentation, but for the price, I expected a lot more flavor.

Our server Daisy was AWESOME! she was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Especially in giving good recommendations when we were between items. We got the pretzel bites to start, which were really good! The salad with blackened salmon on top and I forget what they were called but similar to a "dynamite shrimp" type dish were both really good too! Drinks were also great (my husband got a few different beers all of which he said were nice! He drinks mostly IPA drinks and is super picky so for him to find good beer is saying alot! I had a few different cocktails all of which were super refreshing on the hot day it was) we would recommend anything to eat or drink from there for sure!
