I should preface this by saying I'm not from Texas (but am currently in the process of moving here). I decided to try it because it was down the street from my apartment. Something about this place just gave the vibe that they had good food. Maybe the slightly overgrown parking lot, the fact that there was nobody there, and the building was older. Anyway, I walk in and this random customer asked if I had been there before. I said no, and he said something along the lines of, "You've just stumbled upon a legendary burger joint". Some of the decor was a bit schizophrenic, but in a cool way. There was a car shell mounted to the ceiling, old movie posters everywhere, and a bunch of random decorations on shelves. I just ordered the namesake time machine burger and it was incredible. So good, I ordered a second one. Everyone working was very friendly too and the owner seemed like a really great guy. It's the slightly rundown greasy hole-in-the-wall places like this that always have the best food. I could never recommend it enough. They also have a burger with peanut butter on it which I've been told is really good, so I'll have to try that next time. read more

Burger Time Machine in Denton definitely feels like a local college dive burger spot. With the vintage movie posters on the walls, college kids writing formulas on the walls, an arcade, pool table, and picnic-table-style seating, it has a fun after-school hangout vibe. For lunch, I ordered the #9 Love Affair burger combo with sweet potato fries and added a side of onion rings. The sweet potato fries came in a good portion, which I appreciated. The onion rings, though, were $3.99 for only 6 rings, and that did not feel like a good value. The burger patty itself was the perfect thickness and cooked well, but it had almost no flavor on its own. The only real flavor came from the add-ons I chose, which were egg and pineapple jam. Because of that, the overall flavor just did not match the $22 price tag for lunch. Cool local vibe, decent presentation, but for the price, I expected a lot more flavor. read more

The food was okay. Nothing spectacular. I wouldn't go back personally. The fried food tasted like fish. The sausage on the Jurassic burger were literally lil smokies that had bbq sauce on them. This is going to be a bit long so please sit with me. When I was a graduate student at UNT I loved going on hiking adventures in the city. One day I decided to walk from my apartment on Bonnie Brae and Prairie all the way over to TWU, it was a lovely spring day I wanted to get the steps in. Upon walking into Burger Time Machine you are hit with the smell of delicious. If you don't know what that smell is you need to go to Burger Time Machine. On my first visit I had the Star Trek and I was hooked. During the remainder of my time at UNT I ate at Burger Time Machine once a week and have eaten every single burger on the menu. While I was in school it got to the point where the staff on Fridays knew me and I loved it. It was a very great mission I took on to eat every single burger but with a 6 mile round trip from my apartment to Burger Time Machine I felt like eating their was alright. I had to move for a job and then went back with my partner and she also says we need to go visit Denton so we can do Jazz Fest and other great Denton things, but we both know it's to eat at Burger Time Machine. If you're getting kind of fast food burgers / fast casual burgers / etc. at any other restaurant in Denton, you are doing a disservice to yourself. You should eat there and be happy that you live in Denton Texas and that you're able to eat at Burger Time Machine. read more

This counter service restaurant is full of nostalgic memorabilia. We were greeted warmly upon entering. The food was served quickly. Everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. I always want to support a small business over a large corporation. The staff are nvie and the burgers get the job done, with many options to choose from. What shocked me was the state of the bathrooms. I went into the ladies room and it looks like there is urine all over the walls. I would've never eaten here if I had gone in there prior to ordering. Please.... Have someone go in with some gloves, a mask and eyeglasses and deep clean those bathrooms and/or steam them. This spot is the definition of "blast from the past". We came and quiet Sunday at 2:30 way past the lunch craze. The ambiance screams "throwback". They have a decent amount of people coming in and out. I wonder how we have driven past it without even thinking of it? Especially judging we both attended UNT 11 years ago. The service was friendly, fast and super affordable. We paid $30ish for two combo meals. I ordered the cowboy and hubby ordered the Star Wars burger. It's been a while since I was this stuffed and satisfied! Burger Time Machine is a GREAT burger at a good price for 1/2 lbs. I didn't want to eat the whole burger in one sitting but I couldn't stop. The meat is well seasoned with a good char and the toppings were complementary, and didn't overpower the flavor of the meat. The bun is nice in size and although mine did have a barbecue sauce on it, it was not a sloppy mess. Really delicious, well proportioned burger and the fries came out, piping hot, fluffy, and they too were filling. I had the 1/2 burger, fries and coke for $15. The atmosphere itself is very relaxed with games like like Pac-Man and Galacia, there is even a small area for children to play, although there were no small children present when I was there. The staff is very friendly and efficient. My order was taken immediately and my food delivered promptly, I didn't see anyone standing around, everybody was hustling and providing customer service. The radio plays old hits like Ice Ice Baby, there are times you hear radio commercials, but there's nothing wrong with that. Overall clean from what I can see with simple self service coke products, a roll of paper towels and I like that they have a container of ketchup vs the nasty all hands on deck red squeeze bottle. I can't think of anything that they could do better so I guess it's a five-star rating for a very casual, stuff your belly burger and fries. Recommend! read more

I hope Burger Time Machine never loses its charm. It's such a nostalgic feel when you walk in and see many classic movies referenced throughout. We ordered our food to-go and everything was well packaged. It was nice seeing all of the different things inside while we waited. The Texan Frito Pie was the cashier's favorite, so I thought to give it a try. The burger is a messy beast, but it's pretty good. It could use some salt or more flavor to the chili, but I'd get it again. I took a bite of the teriyaki, and it was pretty great! A well blend of flavor in that one. I love the house made fries. I am going to start by saying read Manda C.'s review its spot on. This was my wife and it's first time here. Driven by it for 10 years and simply decided it was time. It was a great decision as the food was fast, hot and delicious. I had the Cowboy burger with fries and drink. My wife had 1/2 lbs with ketchup and grilled onions along with onion rings and drink. The fries on my plate were homemade and perfectly cooked. Crispy outside and moist inside. My wife's onion rings looked amazing but lacked any real taste, which was a bummer. The burgers themselves were amazing from the first bite. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Mine was a big burger and very filling. My wife had the smaller burger and couldn't finish. Not knowing what to expect coming in and leaving blown away. We will be back to try the other 30 burgers on the menu. We came here because it sounded good, and Burger Time Machine didn't disappoint! I got the Texan Frito Pie Burger with sidewinder fries, and my wife got the Kalbi Burger with sweet potato fries. We had some excellent burgers here while visiting town! I love diner-style burgers, so I chose one of the more basic ones, the galaxy burger. It was delicious! They have lots of unique toppings and options for their menu though if you're wanting something a little different. The food came out fresh to order, and they quickly cleaned off tables as people left. This place has cool decor and feels relaxed. Even old fashion. But the star here is burgers and fries, and tots and onion rings. The burger comes with any toppings you like or be brave and try one of their specialties. I had a regular cheeseburger with tots. Plenty of lettuce, onion, pickles, and mayo. The tots were awesome. I'm a first-timer here and am really impressed with the burgers. The air in this place though is another story. You know that smell of a public bathroom ... when someone uses it after holding it for a week? Well, combine that smell with the cheapest strawberry scented air freshener you can find, and that's what this place smelled like on the day we visited in mid-August, 2014. It felt fairly dirty too. But, if you can get past it (and one family walked out right after they walked in) you'll enjoy friendly service and some outstanding eats. Strangely, I felt like my burger was made with clean hands (the cook wears gloves and a mask). And everything was fresh and served piping hot. I went for a classic cheeseburger, as did my wife. Our son had the one with pineapple on it (along with other accoutrements). Everyone enjoyed. In fact, we pretty much raved about the juicy well-seasoned meat and the nicely toasted buns. Son had to use a fork with his burger, but hey, some toppings just require tools other than the hands. Will I go back? Certainly, assuming they don't ban me for my description of the atmosphere.
