I'd rate Zalat a solid 4.2 out of 5. The flavor was great, with a good undercarriage and a decent crust. I personally prefer my pizza a little more well-done, but the flavor was definitely there. We got the Simple Basil Mini which was 9" for only $6 (it doesn't come with a sirancha sauce but he threw one in for us!) and the 12" Drunken Masterclass for $19. I'm rating this pizza place a 3 only because of their pricing is WAY to high. The pizza is pretty damn good but the price, in the heart of a college town, next to 2 different colleges!!! COME ON MAN!!! For two 12" pizzas I paid $45.88. Yes you read that correctly.....$45 I ordered a 12" Beef Pepperoni LoVAH and added chicken to it. There wasn't much more pepperoni than a regular pepperoni and then each slice only had a very small amount of chicken. My wife ordered just a 12" Simple Basil Pizza. It was simple and had a small amount of pepperoni on it. Maybe 2 slices of pepperoni per slice. We ordered our pizza online and it was ready when I arrived at the time I was given. I've been meaning to give this place a try and decided to finally check it out Sunday while I was in Denton. I arrived around 11:45am and was surprised to see that there is no inside seating besides a counter along the window, there are tables outside but obviously it's 100 degrees out there. I'm a huge fan of New York style pizza and I've heard good things about Zalat for awhile now, I ordered the Meatza which has Pepperoni, salami, sausage and bacon. I don't know if this is just a one off or it was just overhyped but this place was nothing special to me, a very basic pizza and not NY style in my opinion. The prices they charge for their pizza is overpriced I think, The service was great and I will give it another try, a different pizza next time. read more

First time trying Zalat today, we were surprised there are no bar stools to sit inside. The front of the house needs tlc, seems to be used for "storage", when it should have a table or 2 for a quick indoor dining experience. The pizza was good, we liked the crispy crust. Genuinely disappointed with Zalat service lately. The food was lackluster in flavor, and one of our pizzas was very undercooked in the center. The ambiance was cluttered with storage and it definitely seemed like nobody wanted to be there. There is an "inspected by" section on the pizza box with a squiggle and its clear that none of these pizzas were "inspected", so I've lost trust on that note. Called the store manager about the situation and all he offered was to remake the pizza, but by then we were already home with friends and family so it wasn't worth the struggle. Food should be served cooked correctly, especially when you spend $20+ per pizza. We will not be coming back anytime soon. We have been in Denton for about 4 weeks and we had yet to have great pizza. Today we had some great pizza! We ordered a 14" Zealot and an 18" Crave with pineapple added. The toppings were fresh, the crust was well cooked and crunchy! We ordered at about 8:15pm and our pizza was delivered at about 8:55pm (10 minutes earlier than estimated!). It was ok. Last month we ordered in through UberEats. We ordered a 14 inch NYC pepperoni and added jalapeno to half. We also got a 1/2 size Caesar salad. This was $20.50 before taxes and fees. I didn't feel like it was worth it. The salad was lettuce with a dusting of parmesan and a side if dressing. That should have been my first clue that traditional definitions would not be met. It was in a small container and $4.50 seemed overpriced for what we got. It tasted fine though. The pizza is not NYC style! Thin yes, but a floppy middle and super crunchy crust that can't actually be folded over is far from NYC style. Lies! Our half and half was so odd! My half was super dark and greasy compared to my husbands and he had the extra topping! How does that happen?? My husband said his half was ok, mine was so greasy with overcooked pepperoni. I only ate one slice. The slices are big and they aren't too saucy, that's a positive. Could have used more cheese and I would nix the mislabeled NYC style. I might have been less annoyed if I spent $10 on this quality instead of $16. I've seen a couple of reviews indicate this location isn't running as well as other locations so I'll consider giving this chain another chance. Since they are relatively new I'll see how the photos progress in a couple more months and possibly try again. For now, I'm being generous by saying ok at best considering quality and price. read more

*This is strictly from Uber Eats* I ordered a pizza from this place three nights ago because they were the only place open other than Jack in the Box. I placed my order around 3:30, waited for about 20 minutes of it, then it got canceled for some reason. Despite this, I placed the same order again and finally it was picked up and brought to me. Let me tell you, this pizza is huge. I've included a picture below to show just how big the box is compared to my hand. Each slice was the size of my face, a really good portion size for what you pay compared to other chain pizza places. The pizza itself was very well balanced: perfect amount of cheese, sauce, crust, and toppings. Some places have more cheese and crust than sauce and toppings, others have more crust that anything else. This was not the case with Zalat Pizza. Highly recommend, aside from the random cancelation. read more

We went to Winstar late and came out hungry! We found this pizza joint was open until 4 so we gave it a shot. We ordered the NYC style pizza half sausage and half pepperoni and the cheese appetizer. Ordered here for the first time. Pizza is pizza. Not in this case. Zapatista has outstanding pizzas. My family ordered four since my boys can put away a large each. We didnt order anything weird or make special requests like light sauce and stuff. First the crust is on the thinner side with a nice crunch outside and soft inside without being doughy. The crust is just great. They didn't drown it in sauce either which I like. Most places use too much sauce and I don't like that as it takes away from the toppings. Next the pizza is NOT greasy. They have a pizza called NYC that states it's more greasy like ....well NYC pizza. The topping are fresh and there is the right balance of crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings. This is a must try. Recently I tried Zalat pizza and I really enjoyed it. They have their own unique kick to each pizza that they create. I am vegetarian and they have also been able to accommodate to my needs. I really like how thin the pizzas are and the sauce that they choose to add to each pizza. My favorite so far is the Elote pizza. I believe this is the only place In town making something like this which is pretty cool. They also have other cool options like Pho shizzle and Loaded Notato which are worth the try! We are a family of pizza connoisseurs and our favorite is New York style pizza. The location was nice. The outside seating needs to be better then some plastic folding tables, and no trash can at all. We got the classic pepperoni and a margarita. The crust is good, thin and tasty. The sauce was slightly tangy tomato but decent. There wasn't enough topping or cheese for my liking and there was still much to be desired for a $20 pizza. Over all it was alright. I am not one to normally write reviews but wanted to share my experience. We have been searching for a decent pizza since moving from the Chicago area since we moved here. Ordered the Meatza add red onion ($2.00) and extra mozzarella (another $2.00) through uber eats. We were hungry and the pizza came....no bacon, no sausage, no extra mozzarella. Called and spoke with the manager. I was offered to either contact uber eats for a refund (they can't do it on their end which is understandable as my debit card was processed through uber eats) or they could make the pizza the correct way and I could pick it up. Initially I tried to contact uber eats but after learning they were not taking calls and not wanting to go back and forth via email i called the business back and requested they make the correct pizza and I would pick it up. The manger was apologetic and showed me the newly made pizza so I could ensure it was correct prior to me getting it. A few take away points. 1. They say on the box that each pizza is signed to ensure it is perfect. Our first pizza had no signature so no way to know who made it wrong. The second was and I am guessing that was the manager. 2. How do you not know the ingredients that are supposed to be on your specialty pizza to begin with and forget another that I paid additional money for? 3. I ordered uber eats and paid the fees and tip because I didn't want to go out to pick it up myself and still had to go out and pick up the correctly made pizza. 4. I understand they are limited on how they can resolve issues when ordered through a 3rd party but can they just make the pizza right the first time. 5. The thing that irritates me is I actually thought it was a decent pizza but would not order again unless I pick it up myself to ensure it is correct. 6. Price....$2.00 to add onions to a 14" pizza is rediculous. The pizza itself without uber eats fees (that i apparently wasted) was just over $23 plus tax for a 14" pizza. While not "expensive" per se what we received was not a $23 pizza (even the correct one). Overall assessment....decent pizza, overpriced for what it is, tha manager did what was within her ability to correct the situation but it would have been nice if I didn't have to go pick up the right pizza when I paid uber eats to deliver one. read more
