Unlike the major chains, rather than hire drivers, Donatos partnered with DoorDash. As a result, two companies are involved with pizza deliveries. The DoorDash drivers may not know the local area. On one occasion, the driver drove past several intersections on FM2499 before reversing direction. The DoorDash website allowed me to track the driver continue to drive in the wrong direction. Decades ago, the mistake could have been excused. When these food delivery apps have built-in navigation, there is no excuse for the gaffe. Fortunately, the pizzas have yet to fail. When not in the mood for meat, I have enjoyed the Margherita. Unlike most chains, a pie can be split with two of their speciality pizzas. To satisfy vegetarian and a non-vegetarian tastes, a single pie can be both Very Vegy and Serious Meat. I spent 14 years in Columbus, Ohio, so I'm all too familiar with Donatos - but admittedly didn't appreciate this family-owned, ~60-year-old fast-casual pizza place as much when I lived in its headquarters hub. This location is a slight drive from where I live now in Texas, so I couldn't pass up the chance to stop in and order when I was driving back from Flower Mound this past week. Donatos has a long history of being a pizza stalwart in Ohio, so it isn't surprising that it's taking its shot in the southwest. In ordering, I stuck to my ol' reliable: The Works, which is an Italian deluxe-style pizza that goes end to end with a thin crust, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and seasoning. Donatos prides itself on its fresh ingredients blending to produce outstanding flavor, and my wife and I marveled at how everything came together. I also ordered the wings to go along with the pizza since it was a longer trip home from the restaurant. At first, I was somewhat surprised by the size - they looked really small. However, once I started eating them, I realized there was a good bit of meat on the bone, and that they weren't as smallish as I initially thought. Not my favorite wings ever because of the size factor but a worthy complement to the pizza. I haven't spent as much time dining in Donatos restaurants as I usually either ate its pizza at work functions or brought it home. Funny enough on this visit, I picked up Donatos on the 4th of July when pizza and wings isn't exactly the lunch of choice. While waiting, I found the restaurant to be clean and spacious - perfectly capable of hosting large groups, families, and local youth sports teams wanting to grab a bite after practice or a game. Pricewise, you'll pay more for Donatos, but in terms of quality, it outpizzas the Hut and Papa Johns while competing favorably against wood-fired pizza joints. In terms of service, there isn't much to grade as the restaurant was wide open on a day typically reserved for hot dogs and hamburgers, so I can't speak to how well this location handles the typical hustle and bustle. Donatos Pizza Last night my wife stopped into Donatos Pizza place to get a pizza to take home. We paid for the pizza and waited a few minutes. The guy who took our order went from the cash register, to he back to get the dough and pepperoni And mushrooms. He swooped his hair back and started picking up the pepperoni with his bare hands. My wife asked the other guy, "is he touching our food with his bare hands"? The guy said yes. Myself and my Wife said oh no we don't want that pizza, that is a health violation. He said he couldn't gives a refund and we need to call this number and Travis Pence know that we need a refund. Today, May 2, 2026, I called Mr. Travis Pence requesting a refund. He wanted to know did we get the pizza and I told him no. I explained everything again to him letting him know that we saw his worker fingering the pepperoni with his bare hand I told the other worker that we don't want that pizza and he can stop making the pizza and I want a refund. Mr. Travis Pence told me that it is "not a health violation, the fire and heat would burn the germs off". This is what he told me. I've had food poisoning before and I was deathly sick!!!! I told Mr. Travis Pence that maybe okay for you, but I still want my refund Of $18.72. It's not about the money, it's the health care policy, it's the principle that you don't care about your patrons. Mr. Travis reluctantly told me to send him a picture of the receipt and he would send it to corporate and it would take 7 to 10 business days to get my refund of $18.72. My husband and I were so pleased with our recent visit to Donato's. We opted to eat there, but it seems like most patrons do take-out. The service was friendly and the pizza delicious. The store was very clean. We really enjoyed the pizza flavor - the thin crust was a welcome change to some of the other places we have been. And their sauce has a delicious robust flavor. We had a coupon to use, which made our meal (and leftovers that fed us two more meals) very inexpensive, but their regular prices are very reasonable. Very pleased! read more

I had 2 individual pizzas so I'd have leftovers for tomorrow. Tried Hot Honey Pepperoni and The Works. Both were good with The Works being my favorite. I also tried the meatballs for another win. Any new pizza place that decides to set up shop around here must be VERY confident in their product considering that they will be competing with the 1001 other pizza places in town. So that alone was reason enough for me to want to give them a try. It also helped that the locals, who were already familiar with this name, couldn't stop raving about them online well before the grand opening. Now that I have been a couple times I totally understand what all the excitement was about. Donatos serves the Mary Poppins of pizza - it's practically perfect in every way! I've always been a sucker for a nice thin crust, edge to edge toppings piled high, and a sauce that's on the sweeter side. Some other places have come close but Donatos gets all of it right. Of course practically perfect pizza doesn't come cheap. It's no surprise that they charge more than the bigger chains like Pizza Hut or Domino's, but when prices approach the lofty heights of i Fratelli I can only indulge every so often. Overall it was a positive experience and the pizza was tasty. I will start with the app, I downloaded it, set up an account, and tried to order. Nothing would work and I found it frustrating. I ended up deleting the app entirely and redownloading and it actually worked well from then on. I placed an order around 6 for a 7:45pm pickup. When I arrived there was a large group of frustrated people there waiting on their orders. I inquired about my order and was told it was in process. The young gentleman behind the counter was making a valiant effort to take care of the guests and was doing what he could, but the process seemed like it could use some refinement. Please let me caveat that this was New Years Eve, but they had a quite large staff in the kitchen so I do think they expected to be busy. If you download the app you can get a complimentary 10" pizza which is a great bonus. I got a pepperoni on thin crust. I also got a combo pizza on the hand tossed crust and an order of breadsticks. The thin crust was definitely the superior pick which makes sense since it is their speciality. The toppings were excellent and the spice is tasty. The only negative was the breadsticks. They are simply nothing specially and not nearly as good as some other places. Best to skip them and just get more pizza if you are hungry. It definitely felt like there are still some kinks to work out, but with a good product and a friendly staff they are well on their way. I will be back for another try! read more

I had decent expectations based on the taste in east coast. The pies turned out to be average. The app is consistently terrible when it comes to redeeming the rewards. The service is very slow. They got good number of employees inside the kitchen but wait times for dine-in and take outs is crazy. There are some issues with the line otherwise it won't take 27 minutes for a personal pizza. Spotted this little gem while next door getting donuts. From my understanding this is a newly opened pizza place that also sells baked chicken wings and sandwiches. Their indoor eating area isn't large, but it's nice and will probably accommodate maybe a total of 50 people, but it was nice and clean upon arrival. We were greeted kindly by the nice cashier who gave us a moment to look over their menu so we could decide on what we wanted to order. The four of us decided on a large honey pepperoni and a large The Works with no sausage. They don't sell fountain drinks so we all ordered their Pepsi products that were sold in plastic bottles. They have a self serve water dispenser for those that prefer water. Once our pizza was done our cashier brought our pizzas to our table. The pizza's were brought out hot and fresh and are cut into strips making it easier to handle. The pizza crust was nice and crunchy and the pizza had plenty of toppings, everything tasted delicious. While eating our cashier stopped by to make sure everything was okay which it was and also the owner/Manager, came by as well to see how everything tasted. Unfortunately we don't live close by, but when we're back in this area this will definitely be on our list to visit. read more

I'd become tired of eating at the same pizza chains so when I learned of Donato's, I stopped by on a random weekday. I came in to no crowd so I was able to look over the menu and take my time and order. I got a small thin crust pizza with half pepperoni, Italian sausage and bacon and mushrooms, black and green olives on the other half with an order of bread sticks. I decided to dine in as to experience the pizza fresh and it came out in no time. The pizza looked delicious, but tasted even better! I could taste the quality ingredients, pizza crust didn't taste like cardboard, the toppings were fresh and delicious, appropriately cheesy and perfectly cooked. I had to stop myself from eating the whole pizza that's how good it was. The breads sticks were good as was the marinara sauce that came with it, but next time I'll get the cheese bread. The service was great and attentive and the prices were fair for what i got. First off, I want to point out what they did well. I was leaning towards only 2 stars but after thinking about what this local location has control over, many of their issues have nothing to do with this location but it still impacts the overall score. What they Did Well This local site has great customer service. Both times I went in I was quickly acknowledged and was quickly called when my order was ready. For the most part the taste of the pizzas we ordered was very good. We ordered one Pepperoni and one Serious Meat the first time and second time one Pepperoni and one Hot Honey Pepperoni. What they didn't do well that they controlled Second time after learning how some pizzas are cut we ordered both pizzas with light sauce and both pie cut (more on this later). Checking my receipt when I paid, both did show light sauce and pie cut. Once our order was ready I checked both and one was not pie cut. The cashier quickly offered to remake this pizza but since I didn't want the other to get cold while waiting I said no thanks. She did give me a coupon for $10 off on my next order. After getting home we also discovered the incorrectly cut pizza also did not have light sauce (one bite and it came out in all directions) and the crust was a little over done. What they didn't do well that is more of a Corporate Issue First off, in the event you are not aware, some of their crusts come "standard" square cut which is how the Serious Cheese is shown on their website menu. I know some pizza places will do this if you ask but Corporate should do a better job of informing the consumer that this is also what make them unique and show this on their online order. We had no idea one of the crusts we selected was not going to come pie cut. Second, the website is not the best. When I customized (light sauce and pie cut) it automatically added that customization to both pizzas in the order. I left it that was because we didn't mind light sauce on one of the pizzas but strange you couldn't customize each one independently. Third, I did fill out the survey shown on the receipt. As part of the question when I listed the issues with our order it asked "Would you like to be contacted about this issue". I did select YES but have yet to be contacted. This issue was not something I needed to call back during busy dinner time to speak to a manager and I was ok to have someone reach out when it was convenient but this I put on corporate. If you are going to ask for feedback and especially if you ask if the customer wants to be contacted that should be flagged and sent to the local owner ASAP. Unfortunately this is not unique to Donatos. Everyone wants a web presence but fail horribly managing it. Don't ask for feedback or fill this in for more information and then don't follow through quickly, this is worse than not offering these options. Sadly, since their pizzas here are a bit more than the larger chains ($35 for 2 large pizzas on a 2 pizza deal) we may not return. read more

I know they are new. We've tried them twice now and even with weeks between visits they haven't improved their processes. First time I ordered 2 pizzas and a sub. The order was ready 40 minutes late and the pizza was prepared incorrectly (I asked for spinach on half only as my kids won't eat spinach). Fine, they are new and will figure it out. I shouldn't have gone the first weekend. Tonight I ordered 3 subs, 2 calzones and a small pizza. The online ordering said 15 minutes which I assumed was too short. I called and asked the gentleman how long to really expect so we could time our pickup. He said it would be no more than 20 minutes as the food was going in now. My husband arrived to pick up food and the hot food is sitting there getting cold and then he waited 20 more minutes for them to make the subs. He arrived home with cold pizza and calzones. The subs are poor- look at the missing tomato and lettuce and lack of meat. This isn't even close to what is pictured. I would not recommend if you're mixing food orders. We are done wasting money here and will stick with the many other pizza places in town even though they are closer. read more

Pizza is mediocre....Taste like ifratelli, ordered a salad that was mostly brown iceberg, they don't make their own dressings. Buffalo wings are clearly frozen and reheated. Just like the pizza I remember from Ohio! Donato's Pizza has always been one of my favorites! Edge to edge toppings that are fresh rather than being the standard canned variety. Pricing is on the higher side compared to other pizza chains, but the amount of toppings you get and the taste make up for that. Definitely will be back! read more

Be warned, I experienced horrible customer service from the shift manager. I called the phone number on the website and ordered 4 pizza and was quoted a price for the pizza's. I went to pick up the pizza and was told the amount had doubled. I was told the call center made a mistake and there was nothing that could be done. Native Texan here, but we lived in Ohio for three years. My family and I were SO excited to hear that a Donatos Pizza was opening up near us in Flower Mound, TX (we live 45 mins away). Their thin crust pepperoni is amazing, my all-time favorite (in a pepperoni thin crust)! We were also recommended to try the Hot honey pepperoni, and WOW! It was awesome! Our four boys destroyed their BBQ boneless wings and thin crust cheese pizza (all-time classics). We also had the Margherita as well, which was really good (we will probably go without the balsamic vinegar next time on the Margherita). Overall, GREAT dining experience!
