Finally got a chance to try out the new pizza spot in the neighborhood! The dinner buffet had plenty of pizza options and a fully stocked salad bar. You also have a the opportunity to order from the regular menu. My daughter requested wings so we had to order that separately and they were cooked pretty well. DOUBLE DAVE'S PIZZAWORKS 07-02-24 We walk in and you can tell it's an older restaurant. The place was clean and staff friendly. Me and my grandson ate lunch here. We had the buffet which had Pizza, Spaghetti with sauce and a Salad Bar. The buffet was pretty well stocked with a good variety. Salad Bar was nice and had many choices. They even had Desert pizzas. Overall it was OK, nothing special. Food was bland. It was busy so many people like it. As with most places you have a hit or miss! Today was a miss for me. This place needs some updated review. $11.99 per person and we went there on Saturday evening. Soda was $2.79. We had a nice dinner and owner/manager was busy putting pizzas out non-stop. Place was about half full yet, we had more than enough fresh pizzas for everyone. Considering inflation and current economy, this place delivers. Definitely better than Cici's. Dont ever visit this location after 2pm. You will be served stale, cold pizza. There were about 15 guest, most ate already when I arrived. There was no fresh pizza out and the staff was unable or unwilling to bring new, fresh pizza out. The selection was very limited and several of the leftover pies were put together on one sheet. I stayed 45 minutes and all what was replenished was the cinnamon dessert. Not worth going, save your money or better yet, get a pizza somewhere else. read more

Tonight we tried DoubleDave's. We had such high hopes because we love a pizza buffet. Buffet and soda runs about $12ish. The salad bar was fresh and plentiful. This is why you get the stars. The pizza buffet itself was extremely lacking. There was not much variety (two different cheese pizzas) and everything was barely warm and there were no pizza rolls. All this would be understandable if it was close to closing, but it was about 7:30pm and there seemed to be a steady stream of customers. Hoping this was an off night for y'all. Food was mediocre at best. Our party of 4 did the buffet but no one ever cleared dirty plates from our table. At one point a woman came by to collect dirty dishes but only cleared tables where people had left. Likely won't return. A lot of these other reviewers seem to be very entitled. Where can you find a pizza buffet for $9.99? For prices this low people sure have a lot of expectations. Your Salata meal will run you around $20 at least. Ordering a large pizza from Papa John's will start at $17.99. Then you add delivery fee, tip, drink and your total tab starts to look closer to $30.00. We're in an inflation where all prices have gone up. This includes the price of ingredients, their rent, utilities, and labor. I'm sure they've had to make some difficult decisions to continue to operate. They've probably cut the cooking staff which results in slower speed of cooking pizza. For someone struggling financially myself I am very grateful for these places still existing. For $10, the quality is very good considering the current economic environment. read more

No words to describe how bad my food was at this Denton location on University. Double Dave's has been one of my favorites for 30 years, so I was excited to see that Denton had a Double Dave's location in my son's college town. I was completely disappointed. The pepperoni rolls had NO cheese in them. When I broke them apart and looked inside, most of the rolls were hollow, with only about 3 or 4 small pepperonis on one end. The pizza had almost no sauce at all. The "cheesestyxz" were dry and did not taste good. The ranch dressing was not the Double Daves branded ranch, but plain, watery ranch in very small to go cups. I spent $40 and none of it was any good at all. I couldn't even get my 20 year old college kid to eat any of it. Such a shame. read more

Wanted to give this place a try because my kids asked. It was ok. It would have been better if the hispanic bus lady would not talk about paying customers while doing her job. The manager/owner needs to tell their staff to keep their comments to themselves especially when you don't know who can understand them. I am half Mexican and can understand everything that was said. Very rude that you would complain about a customer at an "all you can eat buffet," helps yourself to more than one serving. Isn't that what a buffet is? We eat here almost weekly when we come over to do laundry. It is usually really good, not tonight. The pizza was so dry and hard; like it had been on the buffet for hours. There were no pepperoni rolls, the Philly cheesesteak roll was just dough, and my very favorite chocolate chip pizza was HARD. Never has the dessert pizza sat so long that it was hard. I'm at this location a lot more often than I ever thought I was going to be. My husband loves this place and I think we've been to the buffet like 3 times in the last month. Full disclosure, this isn't my cup of tea. I don't mean the restaurant specifically as much as pizza buffets. I grew up in New York and just haven't felt the same about pizza since I moved to Texas and that was ages ago. I just get tired of it very easily. My husband on the other hand could eat pizza every day. With that disclosure out of the way, I believe you rate things for what they are. You can't go to a Taco Bell and write a review like you were expecting fine dining. So I will do my very best to write a review for what people are expecting when they go to a Double Dave's. At this location, they move the line along quickly. The buffet with drink for two people comes out to a flat $20 which is average to better than what most people will pay when they go out to eat. They have a salad bar and the salad is fine but I would love to see some additional variety like spinach, romaine etc instead of an iceberg mix every time but it tastes fine. The additional fixings and dressings are a very good variety. They also have cups for putting ranch in for the pepperoni rolls. Their pasta salad is quite good, I get it on most visits. They have spaghetti with two types of sauce, marinara and alfredo. The parmesan cheese at the table is mixed with spices. It's good but I would like a traditional parmesan offering as well. They have the pizza rolls which they are known for and I have to say that those never disappoint. We've ordered delivery of those a lot over the years and I have never had a bad pizza roll though sometimes they are greasier than others. They usually have about 10 or so pizzas at a time and typically 3 dessert pizzas and cheese sticks. Now, I have never once walked by the buffet without seeing one to three employees changing something out and keeping things full, especially the pizza rolls and cheese sticks. Sometimes I don't see a pizza that appeals to me since I'm not the biggest pizza fan so I'll get salad, pasta and a pepperoni roll and cheese sticks and come back in 10 minutes. Usually on my next trip I will notice at least 4 pizzas have been changed out. So if you aren't impressed with the variety on your first trip or didn't like something, just give it a few minutes and there will be additional options soon. Now, something I really like is the crust. Double Dave's has this fold over technique on their crust that makes it really crispy and I really like it a lot. I can't recall seeing any other places in the area employing that technique. I always like their cheese sticks as well. The only thing I actively dislike is more of a personality issue but I wish they would label their pizza pans so you know what you are getting. I have never seen anyone else have an issue with this so I think it's me being OCD but I still wish they would put out little table tents or something so I know what the ingredients were. It would also be good for people to avoid allergies but there is ample staff around to ask. The inside is quite large, more seating than you would expect from the outside. There are three large TV's inside that are always showing games and that seems hugely popular. The largest tv is on the lower level and that level is mostly always packed. The back has two smaller tvs. Despite this fact, the noise level is not an issue, never had difficulty hearing my husband unless his mouth is full. From where we prefer to sit I pass a lot of tables on my way back to the buffet and always pass varying sized stacks of empty plates which tells me people are enjoying their food enough to finish it! So there you have it! It's not my kind of thing but I think it appeals to a lot of people. If you like pizza and pepperoni rolls and a place to relax with friends while watching the game, this is a perfect setting. read more

Whenever I went in San Antonio, I LOVED IT. In Denton, the experience was a little different. I'll be honest with you: the food was not hot, just a little warm. Salad items were fresh tasting!
