The interior is not at all my vibe--I'm not a fan of seeing skeletons when I'm eating or having all the blinds drawn so it's dark at midday--but the staff was very friendly, and my salad was excellent. Loads of fresh berries, and the shaved steak was perfectly cooked. When my friend cautiously told the person working the counter that the grilled chicken on her salad tasted a little off, the chef also came out and immediately offered to prepare her a whole new plate. They were kind and apologetic, and my friend enjoyed her dish once the issue was resolved. Personally, I probably won't be back. But I can see why Andersons is popular among the locals. We went on a Wednesday evening and it was pretty empty but that was perfectly fine for us, it seemed like they had a good outdoor space for dining as well but we stayed inside, which wasn't huge but not tiny. You order at the bar rather than the table, but we sat right by the front so we actually didn't have to get up to order haha. Everything we had was pretty good, but I would probably try new things next time because none of it was something I felt was a must to try again. We never got a chance to visit while they were in Roanoke, but I wanted to make sure to give them my business because I've heard great things about them! Andersons is a great place and an asset to the community. Service is always friendly, though sometimes there is a wait to order at the bar because of the venue's popularity. They host great events throughout the month. Most recently, my friend and I attended a free Drag Bingo event. It was super fun. There is open seating indoors and out. This event is hosted outside, so weather can have an effect on comfort. I do wish their seating options were a bit more comfortable, but I am also recovering from back surgery so I have to be a little more picky about what chairs I choose. The food and drinks are always good. This last time my friend and I shared a chicken quesadilla and steak fries. Both were amazing. They have an artisan cocktail menu that is added to consistently. I have not yet tried one I didn't like and they are always interesting combinations I wouldn't have thought to try on my own. Stopped in here to grab a bite to eat before bar hopping around denton and it did not disappoint. The velvet underground was very sweet and super refreshing after stepping out of the heat. We also really loved the earl grey liquor and were torn between all the choices on the menu. Definitely hard to find places like this that have such unique house liquors that are paired perfectly in cocktails. The poutine was super cozy and the perfect pairing to our drinks as well. This is our first time here, and I have to say it's the cutest and most interesting place! I love the whimsical and welcoming vibe; it has such good energy. We came for a book club meeting, and it's the perfect location for that. They have a wonderful, spacious outdoor area to sit and relax under the trees, which will be lovely in the fall. Went to Anderson's for the first time this past Saturday. Great location and a huge yard and outdoor seating. Loved the open welcoming vibe from the staff. We ordered the BBQ burger with fries, loaded fries, and the sheet cake dessert. Everything was delicious! The fries are pretty crunchy like chips which we loved. Dessert was also delicious and tasted homemade which we loved. Near the end of our visit a local punk band was playing which was pretty cool to get a live local band set. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. The staff were kind. The outdoor area has 2 cats on staff that the restaurant adopted, which is fantastic in my opinion! Unfortunately, the food got mixed reviews. Our table ordered the loaded nachos (their special), brussel sprouts, hot honey pepperoni flatbread, and pulled pork fries. The person who ordered the flatbread enjoyed it. The fries were "ok" according to the person who ordered them. The brussel sprouts didn't stand out, but they were good. Met up with a friend for a late night drink and snack. Our usual spot is Eastside but they were insanely packed so decided Anderson's after Yelping their menu. We came at the perfect time!! Big crowd just left so we got to get some one on one time with Mr. Anderson himself!! The fries were big ol' steak fries and we all enjoyed the pork bbq AND poutine. Very well put together. Mr. Anderson def brightened the place up and we enjoyed chatting with him!! Since I'm Korean, he offered some house kimchi to try so next time I'll order the kimchi fries, WHICH I totally will. This is the kind of place where you're so drunk that you don't care what the food tastes like. We ordered the poutine fries, crispy chicken sandwich and prime rib sandwich. There is a profile of flavor, I think it's rosemary that is completely overpowering. The fries are cut, thin like chips. Although I ordered ranch on the side for my side salad, it came dressed with way too much dressing. The best part of this place is the music and the bartenders. Greeted by staff--friendly & genuine without being pushy or superficial. Quickly served, one of its owners came over and had a nice friendly chat with us, and our food & drinks were flawless. I want this place to succeed and it can -- but needs some help. Went here for Mother's Day thinking it would be less crowded, plus the menu looked great. There was only ONE occupied table and a few people at the bar. Menu is good but execution not so much. We tried Fig Prosciutto Flatbread, Margherita Flatbread, Tuna Flatbread, Fried Cauliflower, Korean Fries and Steak Fries. The flatbreads are pretty good but should be thinner and tuna was old (not edible). Cauliflower was good but too mushy and served with old, dried, white looking carrots. We were told this is because they're closed Monday and Tuesday and don't get fresh produce in until Wednesdays. Same with the fish. My advice, don't serve it if it's not fresh, and definitely don't tell anyone that! Bad tuna served rare is a recipe for . Drinks were innovative but again execution was lacking... just meh. Positive note, fries were amazing. My advice is to go on a Wednesday, order beer or wine and the fries and you'll be good. read more

I tried Anderson's on a whim after a dog park visit; They were open on Sunday and 5 minutes from my apartment, so I ordered the Prime Rib sandwich to go at the recommendation of one of the bartenders. I loved the decor and general vibe of the restaurant. There was plenty of seating and a very fun outdoor area with comfortable seating and various outdoor games. My favorite aspect of the restaurant was the promotion of local art. They had a nice assortment of painting for sale from local artists. All of the staff was incredibly friendly too! The bartender I spoke with gave a great overview of the menu and had several great recommendations. He stated they make their own whiskey (and I believe vodka, can't remember) on the grounds, so I'll definitely have to come back and try. Dog and cat friendly! My favorite part of the meal was the fries. I love steak fries! Anderson's has a thin cut steak fry, which I have never seen before. The were seasoned perfectly. I would've loved more in the serving itself as it felt rather sparse, especially without the normal thickness of a customary steak fry. I was not a fan of the sand which. It was very difficult to eat since it was not cut in half. The meat was not drained properly, resulting in a soggy bottom bread (I was a five minute drive home and immediately ate it when I got home, so I don't think it being to go was an issue. The sandwich was still piping hot when I got home). I don't know if it was the meat or the cheese, but it had an odd bitter taste to it that was unpleasant. Maybe an Aus jus would've balanced the bitterness more; I've never had a prime rib sandwich without Aus Jus, so that was also odd. It could also be the horseradish spread they placed on the sandwich. But I typically like horseradish, so really not sure what it was. Maybe the meat was slightly burnt? I'm not sure what it was exactly, but It was very unsatisfying. And unfortunately I'm still hungry. At least the meat wasn't fatty. $18.40 for the meal pictured. The ambiance and staff is enough to pull me back in despite the rather disappointing food. Looking forward to trying them again, hopefully with a better food experience. read more
