    Spinach artichoke dip
    Adrienne A.

Yes this place is pricey but it's damn good food. The steak frites were great, we split that as a meal and they brought it out already split for us which was very nice! The spinach and artichoke dip was good but honestly quite rich for my taste! Also a bit more creamy than I like for spinach artichoke dip, and a lot for 2 people! Same thing with the signature Whiskey Cake, it is DELISH but you need 2 VERY hungry people or 3-4 mostly full people to finish it hahaha. Sometimes it can be quite loud in here, but we've always asked to be seated in quieter areas and have been accommodated without issue! I wish there was more of that there, I don't love how so many of the tables seem to be in areas where sound just bounces around, no idea how those people are conversing honestly lol. Definitely a once every 3-6 months kind of place for us though!

Fish and chips with a side of potatoes

Another great evening meeting with friends. Ended ended up sitting at the bar because there was a wait... It's because it's so great here. I had the Perfect salmon cooked medium Paired with the best roasted potatoes they were buttery and a little crisp. My friend order the Fish and chips and she loved them. Her wife ordered Grilled shrimp pasta with no shells on the shrimp. I had to mention that because it's kind of handy not to deal with those tails. The place has an elegant atmosphere with a little bit of fun. The bartender was very nice and helpful. We had a couple of old-fashioned the smoked ones of course. Can't wait to come back alone or with friends.

A fabulous evening. We called about an hour ahead and spoke with an awesome host. She was able to squeeze a reservation in for 3 at 6:15. Fantastic! We arrived right on time and was seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant was packed....always a great sign. We started off with the charcuterie board and it was absolutely Devine! We really enjoyed it. I ordered the haddock fish and chips with fries. It came highly recommended from another foodie fish lover. It's beer battered and was flaky. Haddock is my absolute favorite white fish and this did not disappoint. My sister took my recommendation (I had never tried it but it sounded super tasty) and ordered the Prime Rib Gouda Sandwich. She loved it and I tried half and our friend tried half of that and I'm telling you our eyes rolled back in our head. It was absolutely delicious and I can't wait to order it all for myself the next time we visit. Seriously it's an eclectic sandwich and mouth watering good. Our friend had the Tavern Burger and of course I tried a bite. We both agreed. It too was delicious. Perfectly prepaired and seasoned. Our waiter, S. Carter was the best. He was courteous and super responsive. Well done Whiskey Cake! Ps...how did I walk out of here without getting dessert? Next time!

    Whiskey Flight

On a visit to Fort Worth we were interested to try Whiskey Cake. It is a modest size chain of restaurants in the Texas region. To be honest, I was intrigued by the fact that they have an incredibly large collection of whiskeys. A lot of them Texas whiskeys which I have had a few over the years, but wanted to try more. Let's start with the drinks. I had a whiskey flight specifically of regional whiskeys. This is a great way to enjoy tastes of four different distilleries. Each pick had its own unique flavor profile which is what I had hope for. They were uniquely their own, which was great fun to contemplate each spirit. My favorite was an easy drinking smooth bourbon from 9 Banded. My wife opted for one of their signature cocktails, in this case, a guava gimlet. This vodka based drink was not only very flavorful, but also aesthetically a very pretty cocktail. When it came to food we started with a brussel sprout appetizer. The are tossed in a hot honey vinaigrette along with boursin cheese, grapes, spiced pepitas, and parmesan. A great beginning as all those flavors came together to wake up our pallets. For our main course my wife opted for a fire vegetable medley, which was perfectly portioned for her. It's not huge, but it hit the spot for her. If you were hungry, I would make that a side dish and not a main course. I tried their pork chop, and while I am not one to lean on hyperbole, I will tell you that it is the best pork chop. I have had in my life. I love pork chops. If restaurants have them on the menu I know that they are probably adept at cooking them because it is easy to overcook a pork chop. Whiskey Cake's chop was tender and juicy and the flavors they infuse it with were just perfect. It was not overly salty. It was loaded with tremendous flavors and had nice carmeization. In the Fort Worth region, there is a chain called Perry's that boasts the best pork chops. I will say in comparison I give the nod to Whiskey Calenwhich says a lot because a Perry's pork chop is tremendous. It comes with bacon braised greens which were very tasty and an apple chutney. For dessert, we had to try the namesake. Their signature Whiskey Cake which is a sticky toffee cake, with a bourbon anglaise, spiced pecans, house made vanilla whipped cream. Make sure to share one because this is a dessert that is too big and too rich for one person to handle in my opinion. It is substantial, spongy, and gooey and sinfully good. It topped off a tremendous meal. Service was also great so I have no way to downgrade the rating that I am giving Whiskey Cake.

    Shrimp and Grits
    Marian G.

I haven't had Whiskey Cake in a long time. I ordered to go. I got the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, along with Shrimp and Grits. I was able to call in and place a pick up order which was very easy. I couldn't find the Spinach & Artichoke dip as an option to order online from Uber Eats or Door Dash. The menu online was more condensed down to certain items. The Shrimp and Grits were amazing! You can tell it was made from scratch. All the flavors just went together. I enjoyed it. The shrimp were grilled to perfection. The Spinach & Artichoke unfortunately wasn't my favorite. And I love Spinach dip down but I wasn't too fond of their version.

Came here on a Saturday evening, had a reservation but there was still a lot of seating available for walk-ins around 930. Host was friendly and seated us quickly. Server was prompt and I was pleasantly surprised how fast the food came out while everything was at a good temp. Dark interior good for date nights, an upscale vibe. Food - we ordered the Green Tomatoes and Goat Cheese Fondue appetizers. Tomatoes had a good crunch weren't soggy, sauce was great. Goat cheese fondue was delicious! Portion of the cheese was a bit skimpy for the amount of bread but flavor was there. Pork chop and burger - both cooked well closer to the medium rare than medium for both but good flavor execution and sauces to compliment. Finished off with whiskey cake. Great sized portion, nice and warm, sauce was incredible and cake was juicy. Highly recommended for a competitive Alliance area!

There are so many things to like about this place, so other than it's an ABSOLUTE MUST visit... here's afew wonderful things: 1. Bloody Mary deviled eggs. I know, but go ahead and splurge! t They are wonderful! 2. Green chilie cheesy grits. As good as they sound! Get them as an extra side! 3. Crab cake benedict! One of the best in town, and should be up for every award!! 4. SUGAR!!! Cinnamon rolls and Whiskey Cake! This is your Why! Just ask Simon Sinek! 5. Whiskey! It's in the name, and therefore a requirement! While we did start with the very best Espresso Martini, and a Create Your Own Martini (which I rocked!), the Whiskey Flights are awesome! Reasonable priced, and you can even build your own Flight! Madness, and I'm totally here for it!! 5 STARS! Good food, good atmosphere, and great service, easy to knock this one out of the park!

Whiskey cake and butter pecan ice cream
    Jennifer J.

Came here for Valentine's Day, since I've been wanting to go to Whiskey Cake and oh my, it was great! Our server Tabitha was awesome and friendly. She checked on us regularly, which you don't usually see in other restaurants, so that was nice. We started with the flash-fried Brussels sprouts, which I would say is one of the BEST appetizers I've ever had. The grilled Brussels sprouts, paired with the sweet grapes and the honey-lemon pepper glaze was absolutely perfect. We then ordered the fish n chips, which was good, fried and seasoned well. The tartar sauce was good as well, but was more on the lemony side. One of my favorite dishes that we ordered was the short rib pappardelle. The short rib was liked pulled pork, but was so flavorful and they were generous with the amount. My favorite part were the pappardelle pasta, so good! The bread was also soft and yummy. We ended the night with a whiskey cake and some butter pecan ice cream. The ice cream was so nice and creamy. Not too sweet. The whiskey cake was a perfect end to the night. The candied pecans went real well with the nice, moist whiskey cake. The sauce was also a perfect touch to the dessert. Overall, I'll definitely be back!! It's my new favorite place and I want to try more of their menu.

Herb gardens growing out front is a nice touch.

Gosh damn. Holy moly. Tune me in, this place is freaking fantastic! I came here for the Whiskey Cake and left with a big ol 'fashioned crush on this place! Loved all the things here! I had no idea what to expect. I had found it on Yelp a mere minutes before we arrived. Walking in I was pretty impressed. The herb garden out front was not only cool, but very well maintained and attractive. Love that little touch! Once you enter, it just gets better! What a cool ass place this is! You just have to come see the whiskey wall!! Service was on point with multiple people stopping by to help, but they then also had extraordinary tact on knowing when to not approach the table and leave us be. It was actually the most well paced meal I have had in a long time. We had the meat and cheese board or whatever it is called. Fucking awesome!! It has all the good stuff on it man! Honey comb, Boursin cheese, sausage, chow chow, cheese slices, it was soooooooo good!! Then my bud and I split the Cowboy Ribeye for two. What a fantastic decision that was. It was damn near perfect in every way. They come out and set your chimichurri on fire. Heck of a presentation and a great way to kick off a wonderful steak dinner. It was cooked exactly right and the flavor was so good that it needed no sauce or chimi, but when I did add it, it sent it to the stratosphere as far as flavor goes. Bravo!!!!!! I enjoyed every single bite and had to be cautious to leave enough room for the namesake Whiskey Cake that I was here for. Let's just say I left in pain. We ate majority of that cake as well as the big bowl of fresh whipped cream they give you. It was hard, but I am no quitter!! Please let me find my way back here soon!! '25 - 98/111

Came here for Sunday brunch and had a great experience overall. We started with the fresh-pressed juice flight, which was very refreshing--my favorites were the Little Pink Drink and Ruby Slippers. I ordered the farmer's breakfast while my friend got the steak and egg hash, and we both really enjoyed our dishes. The jalapeño-Gouda biscuit was a standout, along with the crispy chile-butter potatoes. We ended with the whiskey cake served with vanilla bourbon ice cream; it was good but very sweet. Our server, Izzy, was friendly and attentive throughout. The space is both classy and cozy, making it a lovely spot for Sunday brunch.

    Farmer's Breakfast
    Shawn M.

Atmosphere: A very classy atmosphere with lots of dark woods and brick. Tables are solid board slats and chairs and booths are comfortable. 1 star. Service: Fantastic service. Our waitress, Christy, was happy to be there, happy to help us with menu choices, and just generally joyful. 2 Star Food: We were there on a Saturday during brunch time. We ordered from both the brunch menu and the dinner menu. One opted for the Farmer's Breakfast, one for the Chicken Melt, and I ordered the French Onion Burger. We also started off with Fries and Friends, a cup of Turkey Chili, and a Farm Salad. We ended with a "slice" (think a larger sized Mini Nothing Bundt Cake) of Whiskey Cake, of course. The Farmer's Breakfast is HUGE!!! She opted for scrambled eggs and they were perfect. Nice and fluffy. The candied bacon was phenomenal. It also had some chicken sausage and potatoes, but the star of the show were the two jalapeño cheddar biscuits. So delicious. The wife absolutely loved the Chicken Melt. It also was enough for two full meals. She barely got through 1/2 of it. Stacked full of fillings and a nice smashed chicken patty. I, on the other hand, wasn't overly impressed with the French Onion Burger. It was "okay" but it was just a bit on the bland side, something I wouldn't expect from anything titled "French Onion." Another absolute "can't do without" item was the Turkey Chili. Wow! Super tasty and with a nice "kick" to it. The Farm Salad was the perfect compliment to the chili. With a white balsamic dressing it cooled the mouth after each spicy bite from the chili. Fries were good. Nothing special. Dipping sauces were tasty. The Whiskey Cake was worthy of its influence on the moniker of the restaurant. Warm chocolate cake with a delectable glaze and candied pecans. Very good. 1.5 stars Overall: A very good meal. Other than the lackluster burger and mediocre fries it was great lunch. 4.5 stars.

Delicious food! You get huge portions for the price and everything is really good. I had the Ruben and we shared a whiskey cake as well. I had good reviews from my family who ordered the burger and the fish and chips as well. Our service was really nice and attentive and the atmosphere was lively. It does get busy on the weekends so if you have a bigger party I recommended getting there earlier or put in a reservation. Overall it was really good and I would love to try more dishes next time.

My boulevardier was spot on, and then I shared a smoked Old Fashioned with my friend that was just... exquisite. Smooth, balanced, and a little dramatic in the best way. Food held its own. The chicken and waffles were delicious, the chopped chicken salad was fresh and satisfying, and my friend's Reuben got a lot of love from her side of the table. And then came dessert. We shared the Whiskey Cake with praline ice cream, and let's just say, it lives up to the name. Decadent, rich, and absolutely worth it. Service was really good. Attentive without hovering, and thoughtful in those small ways that stand out. At one point, our server split the Old Fashioned for us without us even asking. That kind of anticipation earns points. The noise level was extremely high...we literally had to yell just to have a conversation with each other. Service was also very slow. It took about 15 minutes just to be acknowledged at the bar, and close to 30 minutes to actually receive a drink. When I finally ordered, I told the bartender to make her favorite drink. She made something that included raw egg whites (which I later learned is common in certain cocktails), but it wasn't mentioned or explained at the time. A few hours later, I became very sick...vomiting and dealing with what felt like severe food poisoning all night and through the next 24 hours. After looking into it, I suspect it may have been related to the raw egg used in the drink. Just something to be aware of if you're ordering drinks like a whiskey sour or anything that may include egg whites. After getting our receipt (which you need for the speakeasy entry code), we checked out the speakeasy portion, but the vibe there wasn't great either..pretty must the same as the other part of the bar. We ended up leaving within about five minutes. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype for us....between the noise, long wait times, and how we were treated, it just wasn't enjoyable. For comparison, the bar next door, Archibald, felt much more welcoming. Maybe regulars have a different experience, but as first-time guests, we were not impressed.

I mentioned to our server Cameron, who was so polite and professional by the way, that it might be fun to host a monthly Sushi 101, where people could make reservations and for a flat rate the attendees could learn the difference between sashimi, sushi and all the other preparations for the cuisine. People could taste and sample each type and learn a little bit, giving them confidence to put Hush in their local food rotation. I really enjoyed my experience, and will do some research on the different options so I can try some new foods, I have no doubt I can ask my server, but that would have made me uncomfortable making the rest of my party wait while I learn, this was a spur of the moment invite so I didn't have time to do research, totally my problem. I will be going back once I learn more! I enjoyed my food, the Tempura Shrimp roll, we also really liked the smoked salmon roll, the crab rangoon, and shrimp fried rice, all was delicious! Very nice place for a date night, if you like sushi you won't be disappointed!

I finally made it to Haywire in Plano and wow... what an incredible night. The second you step…read moreinside, the stunning ambiance and effortless Texas-chic vibe hit you. Warm wood tones, beautiful lighting, and that perfect upscale-yet-cozy feel make the whole place feel special. The location is ideal too -- easy to get to and surrounded by that lively Shops at Legacy energy without any of the chaos. But the food? Next level. The elk tacos were straight-up fantastic -- perfectly seasoned, tender elk, fresh toppings, and just the right amount of heat. I could have eaten a second order without hesitation. Then came the chicken fried steak, and it did not disappoint. Crispy, golden crust, juicy and flavorful meat, and that classic creamy gravy that tastes like it was made with love. Every bite was pure comfort food elevated. Everything about the experience felt thoughtful and elevated, yet still warm and welcoming. If you're in Plano and want a restaurant that nails both the food and the atmosphere, Haywire is it. I'm already planning my next visit. Hands-down 10/10. Go now -- you'll thank me later!

It's got that Texas feel to it, but cleaned up a bit. Comfortable, but still a little polished. The food was really solid across the board. You know how brunch can sometimes just be... fine? This wasn't that. Everything tasted like someone actually cared about it. Good seasoning, cooked right, and just enough creativity without overdoing it. It still felt like brunch, just done properly. Drinks were great too. Not over-the-top, just well-made and easy to enjoy. Definitely the kind of place where one turns into two without much convincing. Service was smooth--friendly, attentive, but relaxed. Nobody hovering, nobody rushing you out. Just a good flow to the whole meal. We ended up sitting there longer than we planned, just hanging out and enjoying it, which probably says the most. If you're in Frisco and want a brunch spot that actually feels worth going to, Haywire's a safe bet.

Food - 10 out of 10 Absolutely delicious every time. I had…read morethe 3 egg breakfast along with a gluten free pancake, and both were cooked perfectly. The eggs were fresh and flavorful, and the pancake had a great texture not dry or dense like a lot of gluten-free options. You can tell they use high quality ingredients, and everything comes out hot and well prepared. Portions are generous too, so you definitely leave full. Service - 10 out of 10 Always consistently great. Staff is friendly, attentive, and quick without making you feel rushed. Orders come out accurately, and they do a good job checking in without overdoing it. Even when it's busy, the service stays on point. Prices - 6 out of 10 On the higher end for breakfast. You do get a lot of food and quality ingredients, but it's probably one of the pricier breakfast spots around. Worth it occasionally, just not somewhere most people would go every day unless price isn't a concern. Environment - 10 out of 10 Very clean, modern, and upscale vibe. It has a trendy brunch feel with good energy, making it a great spot to sit down and enjoy your meal. Only small downside is the music can be a bit loud at times, but overall it's a really enjoyable atmosphere.

My family and I went to Brunch at Urban Egg this past Saturday for a birthday party. The ambiance…read moreof the restaurant was pleasant and it appears relatively new. Now on to the reason why I gave it 3 stars. There were 12 in our party and only one server. She did a very good job taking care of us however there was a slight wait when we needed something. There appeared to be other servers standing around the bar that could have helped but I guess they had other things to do. Now on to the food. UE has an awesome menu with the ability to order alcoholic drinks. I ordered the Avocado toast with scrambled eggs. The toast was tough and difficult to cut with a butter knife. I had to get a steak knife and it was still difficult. My sister was having the same problem. It was like the toast was sitting around for a while getting stale with the avocado sitting on top until you order the egg. The side salad was good. My brother thought that his chicken and waffle was subpar and the gravy had an aftertaste. There were a few others disappointed with their food but for the most part it was acceptable fare. Honestly I probably wont be going back. The prices were fair but the food quality should have been better.
