Wow those aren't normal biscuits! They could be a whole meal on its own! The ambiance is so cozy and we love the bear theme and bear plushies. My wife and are pretty picky about breakfast. And we were blown away by how good this food was. My wife is from Georgia and always critiques the grits wherever she goes and says they aren't authentic. And she loved these grits! I've heard about this place from several people and really wanted to try it.So me my wife and my mom decided to make the trip.We got there and it was a little crowded but not bad.We had to wait about ten minutes or so.Well they texted my phone and our table was ready.So we sat down and looked and the menu which is like a newspaper.After looking for awhile I decided to get the Denver omelet with hash browns and one of their big biscuits along with some of their gravy.Overall I thought it was pretty good.The big biscuit was a little bit dry.Glad I had the gravy to pour on it.I just think this place got a little overhyped.Not to mention I wanted some salsa for my omelet and it was extra.And my mom wanted something and it was extra.They basically nickel and dime you to death.So after we got done I paid and got me a little coconut cream pie for the road.Which was pretty tasty.I might give this place another shot and try their dinner. We really love visiting on Saturday mornings for breakfast. They have what I call a traditional breakfast offering. My standard is the build your own with scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes. My husband swears by the Denver omelette, which really does look good. If you're looking for a traditional type of breakfast diner, I recommend. Oh and by the way, they have fresh squeezed orange juice every day, not from a jar or a can. Lots of real wood logs around the trim and furniture. It was very simple and made you feel like you were at your grandparents house eating breakfast. I got the Creamy Vanilla Iced Cold Brew and it was average. It got the job done, but didn't blow my socks off. I didn't expect them to specialize in coffee anyways so I'm not upset. Had a great lunch here at the Black Bear Diner. The atmosphere is like a cleaner greasy spoon diner. The waitstaff are super friendly and easy to work with. For lunch expect a little waiting time before seating, but then again it's the luck of the draw. The lunch we had was great! And the portions are plenty. I ordered the chicken nest, which is new in the menu. Which is chicken breast in Hollandaise sauce, and onion straws which was excellent. Came with good broccoli and what tasted like real mashed potatoes and white gravy. My wife ordered the "bear paws" which looked like a chicken fried steak, with the same sides I had.
