The food however was night and day difference. Breakfast get an A-. Denver Omelet was good and my wife enjoyed her breakfast though I don't remember what she had. The 2nd trip (lunch) was very lacking on food quality (C+). It was not worth the time or money. IDK how it is possible to screw up sandwiches but they did. My wife had a Turkey club and I had a Reuban. Hers was so soggy that she only ate one triangle piece and my Reuban tasted "off" It was not good and it was cold. I went to have breakfast this morning, and was hoping for a nice easy meal The waiter showed up promptly and was pleasant enough. My order was taken and a drink brought. All good so far! I ordered 2 eggs over medium, bacon, and for a treat I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast. What did I get? 2 pieces of bacon, one almost raw while the other was burnt. 2 eggs scrambled and the aforementioned cinnamon French toast. I ate the eggs, because I love eggs. Any eggs. They were good. The bacon was adequate. Again who doesn't love bacon with their eggs. Even burnt or barely cooked. The cinnamon French toast was sweet. Too sweet to be honest. It has well over 1,100 calories in it. I felt that I had to investigate these at least once. But I won't order them again. They didn't live up to the hype especially with all the sugar I used to go to the Black Bear diner in Norman, Oklahoma, and never had a bad meal there. I enjoyed my first experience at Black Bear. It was busy when we arrived but we were able to be seated within 15 minutes as a party of 5. We all enjoyed our fresh squeezed juices. That was definitely a highlight of the menu! I personally ordered the Shasta Veggie Scramble. It was just okay. I started outside. I enjoyed the design of this place! It definitely has its own thing going and makes you feel like you are in a diner in the mountains. Lots of real wood logs around the trim and furniture. It was very simple and made you feel like you were at your grandparents house eating breakfast. I got the Creamy Vanilla Iced Cold Brew and it was average. It got the job done, but didn't blow my socks off. I didn't expect them to specialize in coffee anyways so I'm not upset. Had a great lunch here at the Black Bear Diner. The atmosphere is like a cleaner greasy spoon diner. The waitstaff are super friendly and easy to work with. For lunch expect a little waiting time before seating, but then again it's the luck of the draw. The lunch we had was great! And the portions are plenty. I ordered the chicken nest, which is new in the menu. Which is chicken breast in Hollandaise sauce, and onion straws which was excellent. Came with good broccoli and what tasted like real mashed potatoes and white gravy. My wife ordered the "bear paws" which looked like a chicken fried steak, with the same sides I had. Tom & Jerry seeking the perfect cinnamon roll as always...this Sunday we ventured to the west side of I35 for a California style breakfast spot. The parking lot was packed with 20ish people standing outside. This is a good sign that it's going to be good, and also a bad sign that we'll have to wait... we checked in where a little bear themed souvenir shop awaits along with a desert display to tempt your eyes....apparently it works because Jerry skipped his usual and ordered the apple cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It came hot and tasty although he said the ice cream was a much needed accompaniment as it might have been on the dry side and alas it didn't have any cinnamon flavor...dang it!! We're gonna have to start carrying a little bottle of cinnamon with us...I ordered the usual 2 eggs scrambles, bacon ( crispy requested) very specific about this, and pancakes. Service was a bit slow due to the crowd We're sure. My bacon arrived "not" crispy and "not" thick as advertised...the eggs were OK, the 2 pancakes a massive half inch thick tasted average. I enjoyed my chicken avocado club. No mayo, got ranch on the side which was good. The chicken had great flavor but was a tad salty for my preference and the fries were under seasoned which is okay bc you can always add more (and it balanced with the salty chicken well). Today I went to work out, and afterwards I made a decision to go to Black Bear Diner to eat. This is my second time coming in. I'm at one something that was hard, healthy nutritious and also have some protein in it and on the menu I see where they had a cob chicken salad, see picture above, and the salad was very good and fresh bags were tasty. So when my friend suggested this spot for dinner, I was thinking we should save this for a special occasion weekend brunch kind of day instead. Little did I know, they serve breakfast all day! The menus are printed on what looks like a newspaper and they include calories count for everything. Even though I was excited for breakfast, I wanted to try the dinner offerings too. In the end I opted for my beloved Benny. This one was the California Bacon eggs benedict which came with the standard English muffin and poached egg along with thick cut bacon, avocado, spinach, and grilled tomatoes.
