This has been one of our favorite breakfast/lunch spots for years. The service and food are great. It's a very family run vibe. They started opening for dinner service recently and we went to give it a try. Overall it was great. We had chicken piccata, rigatoni ala vodka, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, linguine with clams, spaghetti bolognese and calamari. Everyone loved their dinner. The calamari was disappointing as it was obviously frozen and lacked flavor. It didn't keep everyone from finishing it and ordering another. We will go again. read more

Normally I would have great things to say about this place, the kitchen knocks it out of the park! But this morning I went in for breakfast, there were alot of available tables so I asked the woman that looked like she was running the floor if I could sit anywhere she said yes sit where ever you like. I sat down turned my coffee cup over and waited...........10 mins went by . Servers walked passed me and brought water and coffee to people that sat down after me but never even looked at me . I waited another 5 mins and saw a couple that came in just before me get there food ,still nothing . Coffee cup empty, no water ,no menu no service after 15 mins . I quietly got up and walked out . Usually we love this place for its great service and food, been coming here for years. However, today's waitress, who seemed newer to the restaurant, was inattentive, blah attitude, and extremely slow. Waited over 20 minutes after food was done. She stopped by table "how's it going?" We mentioned needing a to-go box, eventually she brought one and left before we could ask for the check. Came by another 10 minutes later "how's it going?" We looked at her with obvious eyes since our table was emptied by another waitress who already took our plates. Finally, she gets the hint and says I can get your check at the front. Ummm, thanks. We always pass by this restaurant but it's the first time we actually went in. We were out running Sunday morning errands and got brunch cravings. We were right by the Walmart and decided that was the day we were going to finally try it. There was about a 20 minute wait. The restaurant is busy but pretty big and clean. The service was prompt and friendly. Our coffee cups were consistently filled and food was good. We both ordered simple breakfast and shared a pancake. We left full and happy. The Italian Dinner was absolutely amazing! Every dish was full of flavor, made with fresh ingredients, and cooked to perfection. What a delightful diner! Our family dropped by today after church and we each enjoyed fresh, hot food delivered with smiles and great Texas hospitality. Mike, the owner, greeted us at the door and quickly helped us get seated. Ava, our server, was the sweetest thing and kept our water and tea (by the way, they serve EXCELLENT iced tea!) always topped off. This place use to be the best place to go, it has gone down hill so quickly. You can get breakfast anywhere, we came for the service. We found out that the ownership has changes and you can tell! I was a weekly customer at this restaurant since it opened. I used to really enjoy this restaurant, their food, and service. However, since the ownership has changed hands, it is just not the same. It is a very unfriendly and low energy place to visit. Management cares very little about service or satisfaction. It is uncomfortable to be in this atmosphere. Sunday morning at Republic...What could go wrong? Our food was great, as usual, but our waitress spent almost the entire time we were eating visiting and loud talking with her friends in the next booth. Us attempting to enjoy our breakfast at one of her tables was not an inconvenience that was going to interrupt her socializing. Unable to interrupt her visit , we had a long wait for our check and finally went to the front desk to spur things along. However, to be fair, throughout our meal our waitress had checked back with us and our coffees were refilled. Doing "eat the alphabet" with the family and this was our C restaurant. We don't typically venture out this way, but found this place on Yelp, and my fellow Yelpers didn't disappoint with this one! The three of us opted for coffee and water. The coffee was legit! I probably could have drank a whole pot by myself. The food arrived quickly and was fresh. I ordered the Southern Scramble (biscuit, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, gravy and cheese), kid ordered the Chicken & Waffles, and hubs ordered The Alamo (2 tacos with eggs and brisket with a side of hashbrowns). So. Much. Food. The chicken and waffles came with 3 huge pieces of chicken! I've never seen chicken and waffles with this much chicken before. You typically get 1 small piece of chicken, or a wing. It was impressive. The breading was delicious but the waffle could have been just a tad sweeter. The scrambler contained the best of all breakfast items and hubs loved the tacos. The inside is very Texas and back the blue as I believe the owners are police or retired police. The cafe is family owned and operated which is very cool! Our waitress gave us some backstory and let us know that they plan on opening another restaurant down the road that will serve lunch and dinner. The service was good, I can't complain about that. The food was less than impressive for the price. My Benedict was covered literally swimming in hollandaise sauce. Sad I didn't take a picture. It said it had bacon and it was a dusting of bacon on top of the pooling hollandaise sauce. It was very disappointing. So I ordered a side of bacon and it came out and they gave me 2 slices which was enough but it was nearly $5 for that. Prices are not reasonable for the food quality. The place is clean and they are definitely military and police backing which is nice. It's very in your face though. I mean there is a difference between being proud of something and choking people with it on every bite. The service is really nice and I appreciate the restaurant giving its support to police and military. My boyfriend and I ordered the Alamo and Corned beef hash. Our food was pretty good. Portion size is huge but a bit pricey. I like the taste of my corned beef and hash brown. I think they accidentally gave me a white toast instead of sour dough but it's okay. Come here because you're hungry and want to EAT! This place makes some of the best breakfast food in DFW. Nothing crazy. Nothing fancy. Just foods done right. This was my first time having the brisket tacos and they were so big I didn't need a bite more than two of them. This place uses real eggs and you can definitely tell the difference.
