We came here for dinner with another couple. It's a fancy place, dimly lit, and was a great environment for an upscale dinner and cocktails. For an appetizer, we shared an order of their tamales. Now, I'm spoiled on amazing homemade tamales, and these were certainly very different than what I'm used to, but they were so good! I was very impressed. For cocktails I started with an espresso martini and layer I had a barrel aged Manhattan. Both met my expectations perfectly. The espresso martini had espresso, vanilla vodka and coffee liqueur. The Manhattan was your standard Antigua and Angestora but with the double-oaked version of Woodford Reserve (which is a favorite of mine). For dinner I had the Rockfish. It was amazing. A light, crunchy exterior and a moist, flaky interior with a very flavorful sauce and tender-crisp fresh veggies. It was surprisingly good. I don't remember our server but also, I don't remember waiting for anything or running out of water or anything else so they must have taken good care of us! My opinion of Reata has slid since my last review, which was the only time I've ever really enjoyed a meal there. I live in downtown Fort Worth and have eaten at Reata quite a few times. Every time , except once, when I leave I say I'm not going back there again. But, invariably, friends will invite us to go there with them, and off we go. But it's the same old story. Case in point: we went there two weeks ago on a Friday night with friends. My wife and I each had a cocktail with happy hour pricing, one glass of wine each, and two mediocre appetizers. The bill was $118. I'm giving two stars instead of one because the service and ambiance are okay. I don't think Reata lives up to its reputation. Just got to Fort Worth today we stumbled up Reata.. Reata is a Ranch Texas themed restaurant. Had their onion rings which are to die for as well as shrimp in bacon. Both delicious. Reata was a great spot for a last minute stop for restaurant week! The new location is well cozy with nods to Texas culture including a border of the logos of Texas ranches. The menu was elevated Tex mex and steak (which we did not opt for) but the standout was the juiciest thick cut pork chop I've ever had. Habanero margarita was a bit spicier than I prefer but still delish. Everything else was good, but not standout. The hostess stand was so kind and the manger were fantastic and attentive. Great Western vibe and killer flavors, but the kitchen struggled with temps. Came here on a weeknight for a casual business dinner with a group of eight, including colleagues and clients. It has that fantastic Fort Worth western vibe I was looking for--perfect for a professional get-together without the stiff shirt-and-tie atmosphere. The service and drinks were spot on. Cocktails hit the table fast and were well-made. For starters, we ordered the onion rings, which were easily the biggest I've ever seen and perfectly seasoned. The elk sausages over a polenta base were also delicious and a great start to the meal. When it came to the mains, I wanted something a little different than a standard sirloin. The server recommended the skirt steak topped with a cheese enchilada. I'm normally not a huge fan of cheese enchiladas, but this one changed my mind--it was authentic and awesome. The western beans served on the side were outstanding too. We finished the night with a great red wine and a solid apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately, the kitchen ran into some major consistency issues with the main course. Three people in our party of eight had to send their steaks back because they weren't cooked to the requested temperature--and one gentleman had to send his back more than once. I ordered an unsweetened tea and the chicken fried steak (which is only offered on the dinner menu). I was brought a bread basket which was really good. My food came out relatively quick. The chicken fried steak was huge. It was tasty but not the best I've ever had. The mashed potatoes were good. The only problem I had was that they put my chicken fried steak on top of the mashed potatoes. I don't like my chicken fried steak soggy or simply would have enjoyed it better if it were served not touching the other food. Nevertheless, the mashed potatoes were good and so were the veggies. The movie Giant is one of my top 10 favorite films so Reata is a definite must go for any movie lover of the classics with Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, and James Dean. This is my second time at this location and the lunch prices are very reasonable. We ordered several dishes so we can try a little of everything. Make sure you save room for the desserts because their dessert selection is top notch here. I'll let the photos of the dessert speak for itself. Came with friends to celebrate an Anniversary. They all had the charbroiled ribeye . And all were very happy with their meals. The steaks were cooked perfectly and they raved about the mashed potatoes. I had the redfish, loved it. Super light and crispy, and the rice was super flavorful too. Desserts were so very good. We were walking around downtown Fort Worth and found Reata for lunch -- what a great find! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, like a cozy western-style library with a classy Texas vibe. Loved the apple green salad (generous portion) with crisp and fresh flavors. Bacon wrapped shrimp was ok, but the legendary Reata tamales was just what I was hoping for! My New York strip with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables was full of flavor and not too marbley as can occur with this cut of steak. It was orchestra night at the Bass concert Hall, so we basically had to make the best of it and we wanted to see the new location. Kaly was amazing as our server . She did an amazing job, there was only one little issue but she took care of it right away So we ordered dinner and we had the following Elk sausage Pork tamales Jalapeno Cheese Grits And for dessert we had the Pecan Tart The new location while it does not have the outside terrace, was very comfortable. Plenty of seating, you did not feel like you were crowded, and the bar up front was very impressive. The ambiance was nice. Not too dark. And easy to walk around. The establishment was not loud, so that was a big plus In the new location it was still easy to get to all the downtown attractions, parking is a normal downtown Fort Worth parking issues, but this new location is still gray But I recommend this place, absolutely you have to go. Kayeleigh, our server, was amazingly attentive even though the place was packed. The food was amazing! We tried the tenderloin tamales that were hands down the best tamales I've ever had and the desert tacos were magnificent even though we were already quite full from our meal. The Reata is one of those places where when someone says "I'm bringing family into town and want to bring them somewhere that they can't get anywhere else" the Reata is absolutely one of those places to bring them. The portions of food are huge and the quality is excellent. I've never had a bad meal here. The service is also top notch. The staff absolutely goes above and beyond to make sure that your visit is special and that you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. We don't get to go into downtown Fort Worth all the time, but I will always make a trip if someone suggests that we're eating at the Reata. Definitely check them out. read more

Some highlights from this restaurant include the ribeye with an herby chef's butter. The bar makes an excellent Manhattan. I also enjoyed their pecan buttermilk biscuits. The steak came with particularly tasty and creamy mashed potatoes and some nice sautéed veg on the side. Service was quite good and the ambience was lovely. Their dessert selection was unfortunately tempting and so I found myself enjoying their pecan pie/tart. Although the nut to custard ratio was heavy toward the pecans, in case that's important to those ordering - for me, it was a plus. At another visit I had the chicken chile relleno. This wasn't my favorite, although it may have just been in comparison to the previous meal - I found the cheese to be a little too funky for the other flavors of the dish. The worst thing about Reata is having to pay for parking downtown but besides that I can't wait to return. Met up white some friends for dinner and it was my first time going so I was excited. Our server Nick was A1 he was on top of things from drinks to recommendations for dinner and dessert. He was funny and enjoyable I mean superb customer service. We ordered 2 tomahawk steaks that came with some cheesy potatoes and we got a shareable salad. The tomahawks we had were seasoned perfectly and cooked at a perfect medium. So flavorful and a good bite especially paired with those cheesy potatoes. The salad was great as well due to the goat cheese and the roasted pecans that set it all off. Then we each had a different dessert. I had the crème brûlée and other guys had the pecan pie and apple crisp. Honestly I tried all 3 you can't go wrong with any of them, just depends on what you are in the mood for. I think things are fairly price for the food and service you get, some would disagree but to those folks I say you get what you pay for. The ambiance could be intimate for a date night or it could be more like a family gathering, I say it could be intimate due to them having candles at each table. I miss the old location and service. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything amazing. Several of our orders came out wrong or were missing ingredients. The salting was heavy on a few things but overall the food was good. The service, however, was pretty bad. Our drinks (water even) were empty most of the evening, and we had to explicitly ask on more than one occasion for silverware or water. This is our second time to this location, but I really do miss the look and feel of the previous location. The decor is less classy and the tables are cramped more together. This last week was our first visit to Reata since the move to their new location. For the food, our party found things to be hit and miss as far as overall quality. As for the location, it is a real letdown and step down from the wonderful and creative space they had on Sundance Square. Service was spotty. First the food. Started with drinks. The Texas 75 was very popular with the ladies in our group. I had the Fort Worth Old Fashion and it was the best Old Fashion I have ever had. I don't know why but it was. I had a cup of the Jalapeno Cilantro soup to start. To tell the truth, I could not tell that there was either jalapeno or cilantro in it. It was just this thick, almost gravy, greenish liquid with little to no flavor. My wife had the Field Greens with Texas Goat Cheese, San Saba Pecans. The greens were fresh and plentiful, loads of pecans. But the goat cheese was barely noticeable, not at all what salads like that should be. So give it a B- at best for starters. After appetizers, I ordered a glass of wine to accompany my entre. Our server said he would bring it right away. It came just at about the time the entrées had been finished and plates cleared. For main courses, my wife had the Tenderloin Tamales. There are three of them and they are very large and extremely good. She could only finish one of them, so the other two were packed up and taken home for dinner for both of us the next night. A+. I had the Jalapeño Cilantro Crusted Texas Red Fish. Again, perhaps they forgot to put any jalapeno or cilantro in it, because neither flavor was there. But, worst of all is that the redfish was way way way overcooked, to the point where it lost flavor of any kind. If we were not going to the theatre after and had more time, I would have sent it back. D- Of the others in our party, by far the best dish looked to be the Carne Asada topped with Reata's Cheese Enchiladas. Because things were a bit slow, we had no time for dessert. Plus, our server took a good 15 minutes between taking credit cards and finally getting them back for signing. One other comment on service, our waiter began by taking all of our orders, then 10 minutes later he came back and said he had lost the paper he had written on, so could we all order again. So, service throughout was somewhere between incompetent, lazy and slow. Now the décor. The old location was creative, expansive, varied by location and not crowded or jammed in. This new space is much much smaller, pretty much exchangeable in terms of look and feel with any ordinary western theme steakhouse. And, we felt the tables were really jammed together, perhaps compensating for how small it is compared to the Sundance Square location. All of this said, I can't see myself ever returning when there are so many better restaurants at this price range within a few blocks in downtown Fort Worth. read more

We had another amazing Reata experience. I ate to many biscuits as usual. They are so good with the herbed butter. The tenderloin was really delicious and I did take half home. We had the best server Scott and received a visit from the manager also named Scott. I was so happy to get another Chance to eat at the Sundance square location once more. The service is really outstanding and the food is delicious. I will be at the new location as soon as it opens. Respected our time and privacy. The restaurant itself is more 'business' like than romantic or casual. After doing some browsing I decided to book a reservation at Reata for me and my girlfriend's little 6 month anniversary date. I booked the reservation on open table and requested to be seated up stairs under the glass dome, however a day before Reata called me to tell me they had a special event in the dome that night so we wouldn't be able to sit there. Definitely disappointing especially since this was our first visit to Reata, so we sat inside downstairs instead. We arrived about 10 mins early but we're sat immediately which was good, the server was very nice and quite knowledgeable about the menu, she checked on us frequently great service. We started with the complimentary corn bread and rosemary butter yummy! I ordered the Pepper crusted Filet with port wine sauce and it was sooooo delicious! The Filet was cooked a perfect medium rare and that port wine sauce had a deep flavor that i love, I definitely need that sauce recipe lol it also came with some good mash potatoes and veggies. I had the Malbec red wine to go with it which was very good. My girlfriend had the bacon wrapped shrimp and citrus crusted chicken with rosemary honey mustard sauce which she liked a lot also. Time for dessert! The server brought out the dessert tray and explained each option to us, we chose the bread pudding tamale with vanilla bean ice cream and OMG! This dessert was fantastic I would literally go back just to order this Lol . The bill ended up being $120 which honestly I thought was a fair value considering the quality of the food and service. It's been years since I last ate at Reata. The restaurant has changed locations, but the attention to detail is still there. Prior to dinner I enjoyed a Birds and the Bees. It's like a Moscow Mule, but with Old Forester bourbon - one of my favorites. Dinner was a feast. More than I could eat actually. I enjoyed the bacon wrapped shrimp and tenderloin tamal as appetizers. For my main course I selected the jalapeno crusted red fish - DELICIOUS. I skipped dessert because I just didn't have room. He lives the wedge, I got their house and it was delicious. The dressing was light and perfect. We then had the Wagyu steak. When he asked how we wanted it cooked we both answered at the same time. My husband said medium and I said medium rare. I told our server medium was fine. Y'all, he brought us two separate plates, my piece done med rare and my husbands medium, a load of potatoes on each and 4 spears asparagus on each. Wow!!
