We had lunch at Waters Restaurant at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, to celebrate my daughter's birthday. There were only three tables occupied during our entire visit. Unfortunately, after we left, my daughter realized she had accidentally left her birthday card on the table. The card contained $300 in birthday cash. We returned about an hour later, hoping it had been turned in. What was most disappointing was not only that the card was missing, but also the way we were treated when we returned. The manager was dismissive and referred to the card as being "of no value," which felt unhelpful and lacking in compassion. My daughter was left to look through the restaurant's trash herself, and no employee offered assistance. I understand that forgetting the card was ultimately my daughter's mistake, and we accept responsibility for that. However, kindness, empathy, and customer service cost nothing. Based on the circumstances, no other guests had been seated at our table before the restaurant closed for lunch, so it is very upsetting that the card was never found or turned in. We left feeling far more disappointed by the lack of care and respect than by the loss of the money itself. I hope Waters Restaurant takes this feedback seriously and reminds its staff that how they treat people during difficult moments matters. She made some excellent suggestions and got our orders perfect - I would go back just to have her wait on us. The ambiance was excellent, every single employee was friendly and welcoming. Our server, Jacob, was awesome. He listened, asked questions, made recommendations, explained things and checked on us just enough. Service was prompt and efficient. We ordered the oysters sampler (2 of each kind on the menu), hush puppies and calamari to start. The oysters were fantastic! The calamari and hush puppies were delicious. For our main meal we had the ribeye and the branzino. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. These Dallasites were in Cowtown for a concert at Dickie's Arena and decided to happy hour at Waters. I'm so glad we did! We loved everything about this restaurant and so wish we had one in Dallas. The ambiance is elevated, but not at all stuffy. We sat at the bar (in quite comfortable bar stools) and ordered the Dirty Dozen oysters...comprised of two each of six varieties served with horse radish, cocktail sauce and mignonette. They were delicious. Next we got the hush puppies. 10/10! Some of the best I've ever had, fried crisp with corn in the batter and served with honey butter and fried jalapeño chips that were all flavor and no heat. Next we got the marinated shrimp cocktail...also delicious and HUGE! This would easily serve 4 as an appetizer or work as a very hearty lunch or dinner paired with a salad. The shrimp were tossed in a homemade cocktail-like sauce. Very flavorful, but light at the same time. Wine is $5 a glass at happy hour (when was the last time you paid $5 for a glass of wine?), and the house Chardonnay is really nice. Service was impeccable, and the bartender was warm and friendly. I was in court getting sworn in as a CASA (message me if you want to know more! It's a great volunteer opportunity) so afterwards, my husband and I had lunch at Waters. We've heard from friends that this place was delicious so we tried it out. We were there for lunch time so their menu was limited. Husband had the chicken burger/sandwich and I had the gumbo. The chicken sandwich had a huge piece of chicken. Husband seemed to like it. He finished it. Fries were also very delicious. The gumbo was very good. Reminded me of Louisiana. The shrimp was large and they gave a good amount of it. I wasn't even able to finish it all. I saved some for my dad. Overall, really nice experience. Our waitress was incredibly nice and attentive. I went here on a Sat night. I sat in the bar. Courtney was my server who was amazing. I started with the lobster cargo. Really good but less lemon and more cheese please. My entree was the salmon. The tomatoes were fantastic. I paired it all with a really good cab. My dessert was a mint chocolate martini. Yum. I asked for no parsley but my entree had it so they redid it with no complaints. Tip: the city parking garage is right by it. I paid $5 for event parking. No need to valet. Came for dinner with my mom and we had a good dining experience. We were seated immediately; however, it took a while for our waiter to arrive. Once she arrived, she did provide excellent customer service throughout the dining experience. We ordered drinks and appetizers - lemon drop martini and margarita - cup of gumbo and crab cake. I enjoyed the crab cake especially the tartar sauce served with it and the lemon drop was delicious. For mains, we both ordered the salmon and added mashed potatoes. The salmon was nicely cooked and we enjoyed the sides that came with it. The only downside was the wait, again, between our appetizer and main. Dinner here was satisfying. As an appetizer I had the lobster cargot. I wasn't even sure what that was at first but it was amazing! Very flavorful. As an entree I had the lump crab cakes. I enjoyed the crab cake however I did NOT like the cream/sauce the crab cake was sitting on top of. If i was to order that again I will request to have the sauce on the side or not at all. As sides I had the Lobster Mac n cheese and some of the French fries. Those sides were large in sizing and was enough for the whole table to share. I think overall I enjoyed the app the most. The amazing staff was able to accommodate our party of 30 at Waters Texas in Sundance Square. It offers an upscale dining experience specializing in steak and seafood. The menu features a variety of dishes, including gumbo, oysters, halibut, Lobster, Fish and Chips, and filet mignon. It was a company dinner event, so the menu was preselected with 3 choices of an appetizer, soup/salad, entree, and dessert. I ordered the seafood gumbo and lobster tails with an Espresso Martini. The gumbo wasn't Louisiana gumbo but it was ok. The Lobster Tails lacked flavor, a bit rubbery, and too salty for my pallet. I love the ambiance, service, and selection of cocktails. It is a nice restaurant to watch the game, for datenight, or to enjoy happy hour. This review is intended for management because I truly hope something changes. My family and I have no issue paying for excellent service, especially at a restaurant with the reputation that Waters has. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by what was, without question, the worst service I have ever received. This was our first time dining at Waters. We drove from Dallas after seeing The Notebook musical on June 28 because we had heard such wonderful things about the restaurant. We were genuinely excited to try it, which makes this experience even more disappointing. From the moment we were seated, the service was lacking. It took quite a while before we were greeted, and after taking our drink order, the female bartender who was serving our table only brought water for my grandmother and me. My mom's iced tea never arrived until much later. We understand she was also tending the bar, and if serving both the bar and tables is standard practice at your restaurant, I would strongly encourage management to reevaluate that system. If that workload contributed to the level of service we experienced, it is not fair to your guests or your employees. When we were ready to order, we waited while several other tables were attended to first. We carefully explained our order and how we wanted the courses spaced out. Despite that, three items were never entered into the system: the gumbo, the lobster mac and cheese, and my grandmother's shrimp cocktail. She also entered two shrimp ceviches even though we had only ordered one. When the food finally arrived, we were not even given the proper utensils. My gumbo had already been forgotten once, and now I could not even eat it because I was not given a spoon. My mom went to the host stand and asked someone to bring us the correct utensils. Five minutes later, nothing had arrived. I eventually went to the host stand myself and asked for a manager because my food was getting cold, we still did not have the proper utensils, and my grandmother and I had been waiting more than 15 minutes for our water glasses to be refilled. The manager was the one who ultimately resolved these issues. By the end of the meal, it genuinely felt like every interaction brought another mistake. Instead of acknowledging how frustrating the experience had been, the server's attitude became increasingly odd. She came to our table and asked, "Do you trust me?" before handing us the check. Given everything that had happened throughout the evening, it was a surprising and inappropriate question to ask. When we reviewed the bill, we discovered that we had still been charged for the extra shrimp ceviche and part of the lobster mac and cheese, despite being told those issues would be corrected. Had we not carefully reviewed the receipt, we would have paid for food we either never ordered or never received. After everything that had gone wrong, she then joked, "Don't worry, I took your drinks off the bill." The only drink we had actually ordered was one iced tea for my mom, which she had forgotten to bring in the first place. It did not feel like meaningful compensation, especially considering the repeated service failures throughout the evening. This was not one isolated mistake. It was a continuous pattern of poor communication, lack of attentiveness, forgotten items, billing errors, and an overall lack of professionalism from beginning to end. I have genuinely never experienced this many service issues during a single meal, especially at a restaurant with such an outstanding reputation. The only reason this review has one star is because the food was genuinely excellent. Every dish we received was delicious, and it is clear the kitchen takes pride in what they do. If I were rating the service alone, this review would have zero stars. Unfortunately, the quality of the food could not make up for an experience that was so frustrating from start to finish, especially considering we made the trip from Dallas specifically to try your restaurant. I sincerely hope management reviews what happened, whether that means additional training or reconsidering staffing responsibilities. The quality of the food deserves service that matches it, because no guest should leave feeling this disappointed after what should have been a special evening. read more

Happy hour is amazing with great deals! Went during Christmas and the place was cutely decorated for the holidays. Sat at the bar and had very attentive service from the bartender. He made sure to get us another drink order before the end of happy hour. We did but it was taking so long, we walked around to find another restaurant, since we were not getting much eye contact or many updates. When we got back, the host made us aware of another seat that was available near a window like I asked in my reservation. We were not seated until after 9. That hour wait put a stain on my feelings. His recommendations helped our order and the food was perfect and I plan to try my lobster recipe at home! Waters is one of my favorite Fort Worth restaurants. I've been twice and each time I had an amazing experience. I came once during happy hour and it was so much fun. You get such a great deal on their oysters and drinks. Also, they have several appetizers on happy hour so you can get filled up pretty quick. What a great experience. We booked our reservation Open Table, with a note of our anniversary. We were greeted and anniversary acknowledged, sweet treat and when leaving the hostess even remembered and said it again. Such a nice touch. Service was fantastic. And when I requested a sangria, not normally on the menu, they made me one and it was super tasty. We did the seafood tower, a great deal for everything on it and a wonderful way to sample so many great items. Also... who knew shrimp cups could be so good. Oysters, large shrimp, ahi tuna, ceviche. Perhaps adding an additional review - there was another excellent dinner held here for the 8th Annual Texas A&M IP Scholars Roundtable. Their appetizer of the gumbo was excellent, and their bread as well as hush puppies were also great as appetizers (especially with that flavored butter). Exceptional!! We had passed Waters many times when going to Bass Hall and kept forgetting to make reservations. One night, with no reservations anywhere we dropped in and they were able to seat us. So happy they could. Really really liked this restaurant. Love the casual yet upscale feel. Service was exceptional. And most important, the food was outstanding. We started with very creative and well-prepared drinks - the Voodoo Cowboy and the Sunset Sipper. As we began our drinks, an outstanding loaf of bread was delivered. For a starter we split a Tomato and Goat Cheese Salad. I like it a lot when you tell a server you are splitting something and then deliver it on two plates. In this case, not just on two plates, but actually as small versions of the original with all of the plate appeal that the larger one would have. The salad was gently dressed and the cheese and tomato plentiful. Well done. For a main I had the Ruby Red Crusted Trout with crab and green beans, and a side of Boursin Mashed Potatoes. Every single item was perfectly prepared and filled with flavor. My wife had the Waters Crab Cake and described it as one of the best she has ever tasted. This is from someone who has had crab cakes at many restaurants. Filled with flavor, on a great sauce bed, excellent. Restaurant Week I took my parents here for restaurant week. Bonnell's (my dad's favorite restaurant) was booked, but fortunately Waters (still owned by Bonnell Restaurant Group) had an open early dinner reservation. The food was good. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the cheese grits were some of the best grits I've ever had. I also ordered calamari and even though they said steak cut they weren't really steak cut and had a lot of fried flour breading. I had the watermelon salad which unfortunately was only ok, but my folks loved the corn relish salad. They also really enjoyed the shrimp and grits and salmon and dirty rice. For dessert I ordered the strawberry cheesecake tart but after tasting my dad's coffee crème brûlée, I wish I had chosen that instead. The service was great- I never had to ask for water and the waiter checked on us at reasonable times. Everything about it was perfection, the dressed arugula, heirloom tomato, and the crunchy coated herb Goat cheese. I think my dad enjoyed the margaritas the most since he kept ordering them. We have only stopped at Waters for drinks prior to tonight but we finally had time to enjoy dinner here! We arrived around 5p to take advantage of the great pricing on their happy hour menu. We started with a dozen oysters for less than $25 and also enjoyed their fresh baked bread and butter prior to ordering our dinner. My husband isn't the biggest seafood eater so he tried their burger (from their HH Menu) with a side salad along with their garlic fries--- he thought the burger was the best of the three. Side note: we think their ketchup is homemade but forgot ask... really tasty! I had the halibut with sweet potato "gnocchi". Halibut was perfectly cooked but I could pass on the gnocchi... not the greatest. I would love to compliment the service staff. The just was so kind as well as our waitress/bartender.
