We dined at Mercury Chop House for DFW restaurant week with some friends recently. The food was excellent! From beginning to end, all enjoyed their dishes. The service and ambiance is what takes my review down a star. Our server, Mike was MIA for a long time. We never got our second round of drinks. The floor was covered in dirt and crumbs. The bathroom needs help as well. All of those things can be fixed. :)

Alright so lets talk about it-- So I took my wife here for her birthday after another restaurant in the area at last minute canceled our 7pm reservation and unexpectedly closed for the night. When I first walked in to Mercury Chop house, I was a little concerned by how empty it was at 7pm on a Friday night, that being said, overall we walked out very pleased. Now, this very well may just be a situation of low expectations being pleasantly surpassed but at the end of the day I think this place has a ton of potential. Okay so here is everything we ordered: -Calamari -Caesar Salad -Wedge Salad -Braised Short ribs -Lamb Shank -Cream Spinach side -Mushroom side - & 4 cocktails Totaling: $225 before tip Overall, we very much enjoyed the salads and thought the entrees were well prepared. Would have liked to see more hot appetizers options, the calamari was slightly overcooked and chewy and instead of being served with marinara or dipping sauce, it was served with a tomato risotto that was not very good. Also, they served fresh bread that was very good but we were not served this until we received our salads. In my opinion this would have been much better served after we ordered our initial cocktails and we're waiting on our appetizer I would give this place a try, just go in with an open mind. This place has a ton of potential and could easily be a great restaurant!

I'm sorry but I just wasn't super impressed with this place. It was good, don't get me wrong but I do a lot of fine dining and it was just middle of the road good. Definitely not 50$ steak good. The mac and cheese was bland. The braised mushrooms were delicious but the steak was just okay. Excellent service and cool vibe but for the price I felt like the food could've been much better.

Fish, asparagus and the star of the show mushroom ricotta!

The host was very pleasant. I was dining alone and decided to take a seat at the bar top SN; This place is apparently located below a high rise. The crowd seemed VERY familiar with one another making it it awkward at times. The service just ok... In my honest opinion the experience was a little disappointing. Although, the food was beautifully plated it was merely flavorless not to mention the asparagus was what I considered to be soggy *which I did send back after being asked by the host's my thoughts on the dish and noticing how I moved them* SN: just so you know I'm not making this up the.... Whoever Mark and Chelsea sitting out on the patio throwing back free drinks are you might want to slow down so your paying customers can have a more enjoyable experience in the future. One for the perfectly crafted cocktail! One for the mushroom ricotta/host's hospitality

Highly disappointing. It smells weird inside the restaurant and the food tasted like frozen catering. Not worth the price or your time.

Such a neat concept- you're given a card, make your way around the wall of wines, pick what you'd like to try and pour yourself a glass, basically enjoy wine on tap! The space itself is quaint and perfectly laid out for its size. They even have the cutest patio area. Everything we tried food-wise was fantastic: Meatballs Dirty Martini Crostini Cheese Board Pizza I'd happily order every single item again, and I'm already looking forward to working my way through more of the menu. I also noticed they host different events regularly, and I absolutely loved the comedy show. It was run very well, and you could tell the comedians were having just as much fun as the crowd. I'll definitely be back for the next one and I'm following their social media for more events.

We fell in love with Grand Cru!…read more Let me start by saying I have HATED mushrooms my whole life. Never has there ever been a time where I can eat them or ANYTHING containing them without gagging....UNTIL GRAND CRU. I tried their mushroom flatbread on a (very nervous) whim due to a free sample, and immediately fell in love. We loved it so much that we came back shortly after just to order another! Wine selection here is amazing, and the service has always been so friendly. We always feel at home. Cost inside, too with warm and low lighting. I highly recommend Grand Cru. Chris let us know that they have live music on Friday, maybe Saturday nights. Plus, we loved the little puppy treat station by the door. We regularly got to see the cute puppies getting to stop for a treat on their walks! Give them a shot, I know I'll be back!

Magnolia gets busier every year, and I was confused by the signs in the back lot. After chatting with my server, I learned that parking is free in the back and side lot on weekends, so don't let the red and blue paid parking signs scare you away. The wine bar itself is spacious, with plenty of seating and a relaxed atmosphere. It wasn't packed, but there were enough people enjoying a bottle of wine and catching up with friends that it felt lively without being crowded. I really liked how the wine selection was displayed on the shelves with information about where each wine was from and the price. Using my passport, I chose a Vinho Verde from Portugal. It was light, crisp, and refreshing, just what I was looking for on a hot Texas afternoon. The service was excellent. My server was friendly, walked me through my options, and kept refilling my water throughout my visit, which was especially appreciated on such a warm day. I also noticed they have a full calendar of events, including live music, sip and paint, and a mimosa bar from 8-11 on Saturdays. What stood out most to me was the location. It's the perfect place to meet friends for a glass of wine before dinner on Magnolia, or to settle in and spend the afternoon people watching and relaxing. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their wine list.
