Husband and I have been talking about trying Fat Shack for several years now, tonight was the night. Walked in and the place was "greasy" and not cleaned at all. Music was eh. Staff were friendly. Lower your expectations and the food is "good" raise your expectations and the food is "bad". We ordered the Fat Jersey - came w/ fries, mozzarella sticks, chicken strips, cheese steak and lots of honey mustard.. chicken strips were gas station quality, fries were soggy, mozzarella sticks didn't even notice them, and the cheese steak was flavorless. Only reason I'd say it was edible would be it was drenched in a lot of basic honey mustard. Should you eat here, yes. Will you come back, probably not. After grabbing a couple to go orders I decided to give them a try. I had the fries and cheesesteak. I loved the meat and how finely chopped it was. Could have done more cheese and mayo. The bread I felt was a little on the softer raw side for me. This is my personal preference. I did like how the bread was soft just would have preferred more of a bite back, if that makes sense. All in all good stuff. The fries again personal take here this style of fry is just not my choice. I prefer a steak fry or traditional hand cut. With that said, I enjoyed the service and the quickness and quality. I will be trying other items and it wasn't terrible that I wouldn't go back or try again. I have never had a rude service experience here. I work multiple jobs and sometimes this is my first and only food for the day. I always order the regular and have leftovers. For a whole bunch of ingredients that don't sound like it would be great as a left over?- this is impressively delicious the next day. The BBQ sauce is the way to go and works on any sandwich option. They make customizations for me every time because there is no single item "as it comes" that works for me personally. The quality of the sandwich-- I notice when one man (I've never caught his name) is working, things are wrapped tight and cooked super well, and balance is great and (fairly) mess free. When he is not there I wind up with way too much sauce, too little filling items, and a loose and messy eating experience. Yes, the tables get cleaned but also, yes they're usually very messy. There is one small tall table and one regular seating table and the bean bag chair that can fit a few people. So the vibe is chill. Love the merch, and the menu names for everything. Love how when we were new before we had favorites or knew how to order they really were good at asking probing questions to provide good recommendations. Even with messy tables they're 5 stars all the way. The food is THAT good! They're mostly focused on to-go anyway and the cooking space is visible and kept clean. Just had a great meal at fat shack. It's basically bar food but it's done well. I ordered a munchy platter that had onion rings, chicken tenders, and mozzarella sticks and fried macaroni and cheese balls. I personally judge all fried macaroni and cheese balls against what you get at the cheesecake factory and these are just as good at a fraction of the price. They serve them with marinara sauce. It was really good. Their ranch is good. The service is great. The vibe is kind of a more rock 'n' roll Wingstop vibe but if you're hungry and it's late in Denton, I highly recommend Going to fat shack for munchies. Experience was 10 out of 10. read more

I've tried Fat Shack a few times, and I'm starting to realize it's just not my kind of place. When they first opened up, it seemed like a dream to me, somewhere I could get fried Oreos at the drop of the hat. However, after a view visits, I'm less enthused. On my first visit I ordered one of the sandwiches that had a million ingredients. I remember it not tasting like much even with a slew of sauces and such. They were also out of batter this visit, so I couldn't partake in my beloved Oreos. Some time passed by, and I decided to have it delivered through DoorDash. I've heard some really great things about the hamburgers, so I opted with a basic cheeseburger. I also decided to get a couple jalapeño cheese poppers- something that can either be really good or just watery and gross. I also ordered some fried Oreos, and got a call about five minutes later that they were out of batter and couldn't fulfill that part of my order (grrrr) It didn't take long at all to get to me, so everything was still piping hot when it arrived. The burger looked very clean, and not sloppy at all like some of the sandwiches. It had some good flavor, but the texture of the patty just wasn't right. It was just gritty and gross, almost like a school hamburger. I'm guessing they just use frozen patties. The jalapeño poppers were also just terribly watery inside, which was very disappointing. I intend to come back in the future to finally obtain the Oreos, and maybe find a sandwich I like. Just a couple of things to note: this is a very sketchy parking lot at night. I've seen people going around cars trying to see if some one left the door unlocked, and have been accosted for some spare change every visit. I would not recommend coming at night. They used to have in house delivery, until the very early hours of the morning, but they have since switched to using doordash and no longer have any of their own delivery drivers. Lastly, both visits I was here they were playing some pretty "interesting" music, complete with quite a bit of profanity. It seems to just be the employees music, but it's so loud it's hard to miss. The sandwich came with fries on it and unfortunately by the time it arrived it was soggy. I think if you actually dined in it would be much better. But I can't fault the quality because it was delivered. Fat Shack is obviously known for its crazy sandwiches which are very good....BUT...the best thing I have had are their burgers. The burgers are fantastic. Big patties that are cooked perfectly. Ordering a side of fries is fine because they don't arrive soggy. Definitely try a burger. The other thing I enjoyed was the fried cheesecake bites. Definitely worth trying if you like cheesecake. We have been pretty pleased ordering from here and will continue to do so. Well, man, I am kinda sorry to be leaving this review. I was expecting really good stuff, but honestly instead I got a loaf of compacted trash. Maybe that's my fault. But this is my review nonetheless. I got a regular size Fat... Something. With chicken, fries, onion rings, beef, and mozzarella sticks. Picked two sauces that I normally like. The chicken came out of a frozen bag, already breaded and in strips, straight into the deep fried. I presume the same for the fries, cheese sticks, and onion rings. This means that all but one of the ingredients were frozen and simply boiled in oil -- the beef I believe was fresh. The beef itself was dry, the chicken was dry, the deep fried slop was .. dry. How do you get dry deep fried chicken? The bread was ok, but it's just bread. It had some seasoning crumbs on it which I did like. So, here I am, after eating a sandwich full of just deep fried random stuff, compacted together, I'm drinking tea to try and calm my stomach. I wouldn't eat here unless you **know what you're going to get**. It's quite expensive for a sandwich that's just gone through the trash compactor. Nearly $30 for two sandwiches and a drink. If you want a mega deep fried fat meal that'll clog your gullet, nevermind your arteries, this place is for you. I like a big meal, but this was much even for me. You may be asking yourself what IS Fat Shack, and that's a fair question with a subjective answer. I guess you have to ask yourself what you want from your food. Do you feel like you can conquer any food? Are you looking for the fastest way to eat six different items at once? Are you completely plastered and looking for a huge sandwich with a scary name to tide you over? If so, then Fat Shack may be your place. If you're like me, and reading the sandwich descriptions freaked you out and made you close the website 14 times before you got the courage to try one... then maybe it's not the right fit. Don't get me wrong, they have their good points, but with a name like Fat Shack, you got to be ready to go all in. I ordered delivery from them a handful of times when they first opened up because delivery options were very limited then, but I always chickened out. I tried some appetizers, I tried a very normal burger and several of their desserts, but never one of those infamous sandwiches. I can tell you that they have a decent burger, really good chicken strips and their mac n cheese bites are amazing. Seriously, I love those mac n cheese bites! Last week I finally went for it... and I felt like it was woman vs food. They had some sort of promo deal on the Fat Doobie for $4.99 ($3 off the normal price). Their menu claims it is their most popular sandwich with chicken fingers, French fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and their homemade honey mustard sauce. I know... right?? Okay, so I had myself psyched out and I think I was just relieved that it didn't taste as terrible as I imagined. That probably gave me a rush of endorphins that allows me to say that it wasn't bad. It actually tasted fine. However, this is a ridiculous amount of food on a hoagie roll and I couldn't even eat a third of it! I tried to put it in the fridge and pawn it off on my husband later since remembering it was clogging my arteries and making me fatter. However, it was hard as a rock after being in the fridge, so I can only recommend this for big appetites who can eat it in one sitting. By the way, the Fat Doobie is one of perhaps three sandwiches that seems less intimidating. The other sandwiches have more ingredients, more sauces and are overall more eyebrow raising. A while back I tried a very messy fried twinkie that exploded powdered sugar all over my house. It's a little overhyped, but it guarantees an instant sugar rush. This last time around I tried the deep fried rice krispies treats and.... they taste exactly like the twinkie. I really couldn't taste a difference. But hey, fried dough and sugar has it's appeal for everyone, especially if you've been drinking. So I guess it doesn't matter which dessert you get! Warning on the desserts, you better eat them instantly, looking at the grease pool through the bag is an appetite killer. All jokes aside, the prices are reasonable and the appetizers are normal people food that taste pretty good. As I mentioned earlier, the mac n cheese bites are very worth the trip. They also offer delivery until 1am and on Friday and Saturday they extend it to 3am. Try them out if you are feeling adventurous. read more

I'll definitely come back! My boyfriends and I loved it! It's definitely laid back and I love it! The wings are great! Im not a big Buffalo fan because most are to vinagery . It's not to hot but definitely a good flavor. The breading is not soggy with the sauce and I'm glad. Chicken came right off the bone. The fries have that great flaky crust and don't die after 2 minutes . The fried pickles I'm not much of a fan of. (My boyfriend loves them) I prefer sliced thin pickles instead of spear pickles. Im not crazy in the breading either. Overall I liked the spot and happy I got another late night place to go to besides whatburger and McDonald's. read more

Anyone have the name of a good cardiologist? I definitely need one after this visit! They are open REALLY LATE on Saturdays so drink up and then go stuff yourself!!! This place is in a little strip center off the square. You walk in and immediately the menu is to the left on the wall, and the counter to order is right in front of you. There is a strip of a few booths on the left side, but there is a whole dining room to the right of the counter. The guy at the counter on this particular Sat. night was wearing his "I love fat doobies" t-shirt over his dinosaur onesie. It was awesome (see my photos). Excellent customer service. They are honest about their products and great at making recommendations. We got a couple of sandwiches to go for my older boys (a "fat doobie" and a "fat slob"). They said they still tasted good even from the ride from Denton to Aubrey. My other kiddo ordered the Travel Channel recommended "Fat Cow" which had mac & cheese and bacon among other things, I got the fried mac & cheese with their buffalo ranch dipping sauce (yum), and my wife ordered the Food Network recommended "Fat Shack" their namesake sandwich. These sandwiches have everything but the kitchen sink. Mozzarella sticks, onion rings, cheesesteak, chicken fingers, etc. They also have bbq sauce with jalapenos (i think they call it the golden bbq sauce). It's really good too. We also (stupidly) ordered fries smothered in cheese sauce. They were amazing but who needs that in addition to all the other stuff?? Apparently we did. As we were leaving we got our to go order complete with the fried cheesecake, fried oreos, and fried twinkies. If I died, I would have died happy that night. The sandwiches were amazing, the amount of food is just ridiculous and more than one person could eat - even the small, and was great. It didn't make me feel like I was dying after I ate it, so that's an added bonus. They also have normal burgers if you want to be boring....we will definitely go back when the boys want to go out and get something "bad" for us. It may be bad for us, but it's oh so goooood! This place is not for the faint of heart. Or those with clogged arteries...but it would make a GREAT place to have a cheat meal!
