Slow service, incorrect order, unclean lobby. Maybe I caught them on a bad day? My queso guac chicken burrito that I ordered with extra jack cheese had no queso or jack. They forgot a side of macaroni too. The dining room wasn't crowded and drive thru had one car, so I can't believe they were just too busy. Go back today ask for the same order make it very specific and am told at 7:40 PM I would have to wait 20 minutes if I want all thigh's. El Pollo Loco was close to the hotel where I was staying. I was hungry after traveling al day and opted for this place instead of the McDonald's next door. I was warmly welcomed by the friendly person at the register. While the nachos were a big portion and overloaded with toppings the meat and beans were sooooo salty that I tried to scrape most is them off. The chips and guac were good, but overall the food was too salty for me, The restaurant itself needs a good deep cleaning and one of the beverage dispensers needs to be repaired. I was really looking forward to some Pollo Loco. I dropped in at around 12:30 today and placed my order with a very rude front person. There was only two tables that already had their food and chicken was on the grill, ready. I went to the restroom to wash up and paper all over the floor , toilets dirty, no towels to dry your hands. Wow. My food still wasn't ready. Waited about 10 more minutes till she called my name. Went to get some water and the ice wasn't working, told the front lady and she just shrugged... Really? Good Fast Tex-Mex Chicken I don't write many reviews of fast food, but I thought El Polo Loco deserved one. I can best describe this restaurant as efficient, tasty chicken with a Tex-Mex flair. Of course you are not going to get fine dining quality food here, nor did I expect it. But what I did get was a friendly staff, quick service and very tasty food. I typically get chicken rather than beef at any Tex-Mex restaurant so this place is right up my alley. If I am ever looking for a quick lunch, I can now add El Polo Loco as one of those choices to look for. One thing that particularly impressed me was how clean the kitchen looked and that there were rows of chicken being grilled fresh. So much better than some fast food restaurants that get all of the meat in bags to be reheated later. I think the cooking grill preparation is one reason that it tasted fresh and moist. My choice was the Tinga Burrito. Just the right size and filled with fresh ingredients. I can't give a fast food place 5 stars (sorry, just can't do it) so the 4 star rating of very good is my highest fast food rating. First off can i just say that anytime i come to dine in, the cashiers are always so friendly and helpful! Ive never had a rude encounter. Secondly, I've come across little hairs or uncooked food at other restaurants, but no bad incidents here. The food is delicious and will always be a option to eat during family nights. I usually don't leave bad reviews, but I'd be doing you all a disservice if I didn't tell you how HORRIBLE this place is/was AND share it on every imaginable "review" site there is, starting with Yelp. It all began right as we pulled up to the drive thru window. The young lady asked us to give her our entire order all over again. First world problem? Fine, sure... We're asked to pull up which we knew would happen because of the size of our order. We sat idling (gas is $4 a gallon so.....) for 30 minutes waiting for our food. A young lady comes out confused as heck looking for whoever the food she was carrying belonged to because I guess that information wasn't passed along. Okay, fair enough... She runs back inside and comes out 5 minutes later with the same bag, "here you go". We look inside the bag and we're missing about HALF our order, to which the young lady shrugged and left. After discussing our options we decided to get a refund. I walk inside and recite my ENTIRE order once again to get my refund. Why do you ask? Because apparently giving out receipts has been an issue in the past with other reviewers. What I found baffling was that it wasn't even that busy So my refund was processed, which I made sure they gave me a receipt of. We weren't even offered an apology by anyone for the sheer inconvenience. Hell, the manager (or whoever it was that was helping the cashier do her job) didn't even acknowledge me or the issue at hand. I guess I won't much blame the staff because they're probably getting paid next to nothing, so why be motivated? My $66.75 will be better spent elsewhere. My first ever visit to and El Polo Loco. Visited the North Denton store for lunch. Ordered a stuffed quesadilla poblano chicken and large drink. $12.65 with tax. While waiting on the item to be prepared, visited the men's room. The door was out of alignment with the frame and wouldn't close properly. It was out of seat covers (fortunately, I didn't need one, but I did need towels to dry my hands and the dispenser was out. Got my food order in a reasonable time. Parts of it was cold on the inside. I've heard of this place and it was a pleasant surprise. It's more or less fast food but above and beyond Taco Bell and similar fast food restaurants. They mostly sell chicken so if you want beef you will be disappointed. I tried the Chicken Avocado Taco combo, two fairly large chicken tacos with avocado (surprise!), pico de gallo, cheese. It also came with pinto beans and mexican rice. I loved the chicken flavor, grilled with some kind of seasoning that makes it so good. I like their chicken even better than Chipotle's. The beans were ok, they were cooked just right but beans are always kind of boring to me. The mexican rice was as expected. The only downside was that we came pretty late and their complimentary salsa bar only had one kind of hot sauce left and nothing else. I commented it to someone at the staff but they didn't address it while I was there. This is definitely a good, affordable place if you are looking for good chicken taco's. I went to Pollo Loco off of university drive in Denton Texas on 11/24/24 at 8:15 and they close at 10:00 pm. Went in to order and was informed that it would be 25 minutes before the checken would be ready. The said thing is that we were the only people that was there. They had at least 6 employees their and the primary thing they sale is cheacken meals. So needless to say we did not eat at El Pollo Loco. Great authentic Mexican food right here in Denton. I have missed Pollo Regio since they left town but this place more than makes up for it. Customer service is terrible. They forgot to put several things in my order. I had a quesadilla that was missing ingrediants and I ordered nachos i got the toppings but no chips. I talked to the manager and he basically called me a liar. I went in for a refund and while I was waiting for it someone came in from the drive thru asking for missing items. They told him they didn't forget anything BUT they looked around and saw they did forget to give him a couple items. How hilarious I was in there for my refund while this happened. This indicates to me it isn't some factory farmed garbage, but it still is slightly disappointing to get a 3 piece meal where 2 of the pieces are 90% skin and bone. El Pollo Loco would be the result if you could blend together a Taco Cabana, Chipotle, and Cowboy Chicken. They offer grilled chicken on the bone , fajitas, tacos, burritos, and more in various formats such as bowls, plates with sides, salads, etc. Sides include beans, rice, cole slaw, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and a side salad. They have a self-serve salsa bar and fountain drink machine plus iced tea and horchata. We tried the standard chicken bowl and it was pretty good. A small portion but good enough for a lunch unless you are really hungry in which case I recommend getting a side or two with it. Their grilled chicken on the bone was a stand out. It was very moist and well seasoned. It is some of the best non-fried chicken you can find at any price. Highly recommended! read more
