The food here is pretty amazing and even though I ordered the same thing most of the time, you can never go wrong with anything on this menu. You should really give this place a try, the atmosphere is cool and the staff are very friendly!

OMG! Having been brought up with fried cactus and eggs, Tijuana tacos, Olvera St. and East LA street tacos you have to bring your A game. Guanajuato brought it!!! We were going to another Mexican restaurant but when we arrived and learned they no longer serve cabeza we left. I wanted cabeza and lengua tacos and so we decided to walk to Guanajuato. A google map snafu and a 3 mile walk back to the truck and we drove into an older Hispanic lovely neighborhood. Kids playing outside and community members walking through the neighborhoods. Nestled in a small local market is Guanajuato. Walking in it's a tiny packed space and all the free space have tables for diners. The menu is in Spanish with English subtitles and the staff all speak Spanish. They were so nice and friendly. The gal took our order of cabeza, lengua, carnitas, and asada tacos with a small side of rice and beans. I adore good beans and love making them from scratch at home. The tacos were packed with meat cilantro and onions. The rice and beans were on a second plate. The beans were smooth, creamy, and seasoned perfectly. The tacos were served up with lemon wedges and 3 homemade sauces chili verde, Rojas, and a tomatillo cream sauce. The complemented the tasks with just a little heat. The homemade tortillas were amazing. I haven't had tortillas so good I could have ate them by themselves. This is a gem of Mexican cuisine, if I could I'd love to spend a week with the cook and glean everything from them. This in my opinion is a must try restaurant.

    4 large tacos

After searching for the best taqueria in the Denton area, thus far this one is the best one. I ordered 4 tacos. Apparently here it's weird that they have small or large tacos (large is flour tortilla or corn tortilla and small is just corn). He described the small ones as normal taqueria size and larger ones are like soft taco size, and since price was only like 75 cent different per one, I got 4 of the large ones. The meat? Very flavorful and each one noticeably tasted differently (surprising number of places, you can't tell which meat is which). They actually used 2 tortillas per taco to make it less likely to fall apart (few places seem to do this anymore), and OMG those tacos were stuffed with meat, and had cilantro and onions on them. The Hot sauce, though would be nice to have spicier ones, were actually pretty good as tasted homemade. The green (avocado perhaps?) Was very creamy and the red was liquidly but both had a decent flavor. So, so far out of the 4-5 I've tried in Denton, finally found one I'd gladly return to and $13 for 4 large tacos packed with meat and flavor, in 2023 is a really good price

    Pozole de Pollo

Very small hole in the hole with some excellent options and flavorful food. I got the pozole with chicken and it was extremely flavorful and filling. The portions were large and the service was fantastic and quick! Definitely coming back. I also got the tres leches cake and it is the best I have ever had!!! So excited to come back

    Birria Tacos....AMAZING!

OMG! If you haven't tried this place you're missing out! The staff is super friendly and the food is AMAZING! The salsa is fresh and you can tell it's made daily. The Birria tacos were so packed I couldn't even finish them all. Why I ever went anywhere else I have no clue! I'll be back very soon.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Denton! The staff is always friendly, the food comes out fairly quickly and it's a good place to eat at no matter if it's inside or to go. It is connected to a convenience store so the inside is a bit odd. But I have tried several dishes such as the chicken quesadilla plate, asada taco plate and I had a burrito with beans, rice, French fries, asada, and lettuce. They are all so good! It can however be a little bit pricey considering the type of food it is but I think it's worth the extra penny.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The guacamole tasted super fresh, the queso was flavorful and came in a generous portion, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick without being too spicy. The only small hiccup was the chips situation--they give you big portions of guac, queso, and salsa, but the chips come in a tiny bowl. (Literally 10 chips) very sad for 6 people to fight over so little of chips. Not a huge deal, just a bit surprising. We also tried the margaritas--they had great flavor, though they tasted absent of tequila. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would definitely go back...maybe next time we bring our own chips! :)

If I could give La Fondita Mexican Restaurant six stars, I would legally change the rating system…read morejust to make it happen. Let me set the scene: I walked in expecting a casual meal and maybe a decent taco. What I got instead was a borderline spiritual awakening wrapped in foil and served with rice and beans. First of all -- the giant piña colada. When they say giant, they are not messing around. This thing arrived like it had its own gravitational pull. I'm pretty sure I saw a small family of tourists orbiting it. One sip and I was transported to a beach that doesn't even exist on any map -- coconutty, icy perfection with just enough kick to make me briefly consider texting my boss that I've moved to an island and won't be returning. Then came the beans. Listen carefully: I don't throw this word around lightly -- perfect. These beans were so good I genuinely paused mid-bite and just stared into the middle distance reevaluating my entire life. Creamy, rich, seasoned like someone's abuela whispered ancient secrets into the pot. I would trust these beans with my taxes, my passwords, and honestly my emotional well-being. And the corn tortillas... dear lord, the corn tortillas. I have had tortillas in many places, including at my own abuela's table -- and saying this feels like confessing a sin -- but these might be the best I've ever had besides abuela's. Warm, soft, slightly charred in all the right places, like they were handmade by someone who has been perfecting this craft since before I was born and possibly before electricity was invented. If I could build a house out of these tortillas, I would. I would live there. Happily. And then--just when I thought things couldn't escalate further--the huevos rancheros arrived. Eggs cooked to that perfect sweet spot where the yolk still has a little rebellion left in it, laid over a bed of everything that matters, all tied together with a sauce that refuses to be anything less than unforgettable. It's the kind of breakfast that makes you question why you ever settle for anything less in life. Comforting, bold, and somehow both rustic and wildly impressive at the same time. Everything else on the plate? Outstanding. Rice that actually deserves to be eaten and not just politely ignored. Salsa that sneaks up on you like, "oh this is nice--OH okay there it is." Service? Friendly, fast, and somehow emotionally supportive. Atmosphere? The kind of place where you immediately feel like a regular even if it's your first time. Final verdict: If you are anywhere within a 50-mile radius of Denton and you are not eating at La Fondita Mexican Restaurant, you are making a series of deeply questionable life choices. I came in hungry. I left changed.

We started things off right with chips, jalapeño ranch dip, and queso, which is honestly the only proper way to begin a Chuy's visit. The queso was warm, creamy, and exactly what my soul needed, and the chips with that jalapeño ranch were the cherry on top. Speaking of cherries, we also got the Tito's cherry limeade, and it was the spring we didn't know we needed to bounce. Crisp, cold, a little dangerous in the cutest way, and honestly adorable -- the perfect little kick to start the meal. Our waiter was top notch: kind, attentive, and somehow always there right when we needed something without ever hovering. That kind of service makes the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. For food, we ordered the Baja shrimp tacos, and when I say the shrimp is BIG, I mean it (and no, we're definitely not out here flattering any men ). The shrimp was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and absolutely the star of the plate. They came with rice and beans, and even though I forgot to ask for the cilantro lime rice , I was still super happy with everything. We also got the steak fajita Tex-Mex burrito bowl, and every single bite just kept getting better. The steak was tender, packed with flavor, and once it all got mixed together with the salsa and scooped up on the crispy tostada, it was perfection. This meal was such a good reminder of why Chuy's became a favorite for me in the first place -- fun atmosphere, great food, amazing service, and one of those dinners that just hits from the first chip to the last bite.
