This tiny, authentic Mexican joint is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall gem. With their homemade tortillas and fresh salsas, they deliver delectability to your taste buds. Try this place out! You won't regret it!

Spicy beef, delicious!!

This is a true hole-in-the-wall but what a great place. They only have three tables so be prepared to get it to-go. They have different types of tacos compared to most of the taqueria's I've been to in the Denton area. The kitchen is right next to to where you order so you can see the magic being created. The chorizo, potato and egg breakfast taco is quite good. I would have preferred more chorizo in it, I thought it was too much potato that took away flavor but each to their own. The tortilla was also very good. You can add green jalapeño sauce and red hot sauce. The jalapeño sauce was ok, I love the red hot sauce, really great flavor. I also ordered the Carne Con Chille (Spicy Beef) lunch taco which was awesome! The red hot sauce was perfect with it. Such great flavor. I got both tacos with beans but I will order them without beans next time. I wanted to try the Asado De Puerco (Pork Casserole) but sadly it wasn't quite ready when I ordered (around 11.30 AM) so I will have to come back and try it some other time. I ordered three taco's but two would have been enough for me. The service was great and it was really quick. Everyone paid with cash, I didn't think to ask if they also accept credit card.

Asado De Puerco - Pork Casserole

Veronica's is by far one of my favourite taquerias in Denton. They've actually replaced La Estrella as my favourite breakfast taco joint. Maybe it's just the seasons. The tacos here are a little different than say Monterrey or Guanajuato. They don't offer the standard carne asada, pollo, pastor, etc. They have barbacoa, egg varieties, and stewed meats that are amazing though. The flour tortillas aren't made in-house, but I've seen the workers walk over to a nearby location to grab the huge stacks of fresh tortillas. The flour tortillas they use are perfection, arguably my favourite in town. The chorizo, potato, and egg tacos are my absolute go-to here. It can hold its own without salsa, and I get at least one every time. I also tend to get the Carne Con Chille (Spicy Beef) and Asado De Puerco (Pork Casserole). The spicy beef goes really great with some of their salsa, but the pork casserole doesn't need any. Worth noting that the spicy beef really isn't that spicy, assuming you're a Texan accustomed to taquerias and a medium level of spice. The barbacoa is good, just a little too fatty on its own. It doesn't come with lime, cilantro, or onions, and I wish they offered it. That might just be out of familiarity, but I think it's a nice counter balance to the fatty nature of the meat. Truthfully they might have lime, cilantro, and onion ready to go, I just didn't ask. I've only tried one of their gorditas, and I wasn't much of a fan. That might be all my doing though, considering I ordered a papas con chile (spicy potatoes) gordita. It was overwhelmingly starchy, but I'm also the kind of person that doesn't like potatoes inside of other carbs (ex. samosas). To each their own. If you're a vegetarian, there are a decent number of options. This is assuming you can eat eggs or cheese and all of their seemingly non-meat items don't contain lard or meat broth. If it's a concern, I'd double check. As far as I could tell, there was no meat or dairy in the papas con chile (spicy potatoes). It's also worth noting that they do offer bean and cheese tacos, despite it not not gracing their menu. This place is really small with a minimal amount of workers, so that comes with it's own discomforts. They're quick without a line, but can take awhile during peak hours. It's a hit or miss, so I'd aim for off hours if time is a concern. With the small space comes limited seating, so aim for to-go if possible as well. Either way, the space can get uncomfortably crowded real fast. There isn't a whole lot of room to hover while waiting for a to-go, so buckle up. More often than not you'll have to get real cozy with the table goers. Embrace the awkward coziness, the tacos are more than worth it.

This place is incredible. Had to head up to Denton for jury duty and was fortunate to find Veronica's Cafe just down the road from the courthouse.

A lot of hard working folks on the way to work

After a week in Denton I unpacked, got cable and found Veronica's. The menudo seasoning is AMAZING - onion-y and garlic-y, comino, Mexican oregano and a nice salty heat kicker. It takes an experienced hand to develop tasty, bright flavors in a heavy, slow braised tripe stew. Seriously. Most cooks end up closer to bitter and salty than happy deliciousness, and did I say just the right amount of hominy? The two breakfast taquitos - meh, but I was pretty full already. Fantastic tortillas - next time I will definitely get some to go. Twice while I was there they asked "anyone here for a phone order?" so you don't have to wait to get to the front when your order is ready to go. The few tables are more for waiting than eating. Highly recommend.

La Fondita Denton - Golden Tacos are in the best!!! Authentic Mexican food

La Fondita Denton

Everything we ordered was delicious. The guacamole tasted super fresh, the queso was flavorful and came in a generous portion, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick without being too spicy. The only small hiccup was the chips situation--they give you big portions of guac, queso, and salsa, but the chips come in a tiny bowl. (Literally 10 chips) very sad for 6 people to fight over so little of chips. Not a huge deal, just a bit surprising. We also tried the margaritas--they had great flavor, though they tasted absent of tequila. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would definitely go back...maybe next time we bring our own chips! :)

If I could give La Fondita Mexican Restaurant six stars, I would legally change the rating system…read morejust to make it happen. Let me set the scene: I walked in expecting a casual meal and maybe a decent taco. What I got instead was a borderline spiritual awakening wrapped in foil and served with rice and beans. First of all -- the giant piña colada. When they say giant, they are not messing around. This thing arrived like it had its own gravitational pull. I'm pretty sure I saw a small family of tourists orbiting it. One sip and I was transported to a beach that doesn't even exist on any map -- coconutty, icy perfection with just enough kick to make me briefly consider texting my boss that I've moved to an island and won't be returning. Then came the beans. Listen carefully: I don't throw this word around lightly -- perfect. These beans were so good I genuinely paused mid-bite and just stared into the middle distance reevaluating my entire life. Creamy, rich, seasoned like someone's abuela whispered ancient secrets into the pot. I would trust these beans with my taxes, my passwords, and honestly my emotional well-being. And the corn tortillas... dear lord, the corn tortillas. I have had tortillas in many places, including at my own abuela's table -- and saying this feels like confessing a sin -- but these might be the best I've ever had besides abuela's. Warm, soft, slightly charred in all the right places, like they were handmade by someone who has been perfecting this craft since before I was born and possibly before electricity was invented. If I could build a house out of these tortillas, I would. I would live there. Happily. And then--just when I thought things couldn't escalate further--the huevos rancheros arrived. Eggs cooked to that perfect sweet spot where the yolk still has a little rebellion left in it, laid over a bed of everything that matters, all tied together with a sauce that refuses to be anything less than unforgettable. It's the kind of breakfast that makes you question why you ever settle for anything less in life. Comforting, bold, and somehow both rustic and wildly impressive at the same time. Everything else on the plate? Outstanding. Rice that actually deserves to be eaten and not just politely ignored. Salsa that sneaks up on you like, "oh this is nice--OH okay there it is." Service? Friendly, fast, and somehow emotionally supportive. Atmosphere? The kind of place where you immediately feel like a regular even if it's your first time. Final verdict: If you are anywhere within a 50-mile radius of Denton and you are not eating at La Fondita Mexican Restaurant, you are making a series of deeply questionable life choices. I came in hungry. I left changed.

We started things off right with chips, jalapeño ranch dip, and queso, which is honestly the only proper way to begin a Chuy's visit. The queso was warm, creamy, and exactly what my soul needed, and the chips with that jalapeño ranch were the cherry on top. Speaking of cherries, we also got the Tito's cherry limeade, and it was the spring we didn't know we needed to bounce. Crisp, cold, a little dangerous in the cutest way, and honestly adorable -- the perfect little kick to start the meal. Our waiter was top notch: kind, attentive, and somehow always there right when we needed something without ever hovering. That kind of service makes the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. For food, we ordered the Baja shrimp tacos, and when I say the shrimp is BIG, I mean it (and no, we're definitely not out here flattering any men ). The shrimp was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and absolutely the star of the plate. They came with rice and beans, and even though I forgot to ask for the cilantro lime rice , I was still super happy with everything. We also got the steak fajita Tex-Mex burrito bowl, and every single bite just kept getting better. The steak was tender, packed with flavor, and once it all got mixed together with the salsa and scooped up on the crispy tostada, it was perfection. This meal was such a good reminder of why Chuy's became a favorite for me in the first place -- fun atmosphere, great food, amazing service, and one of those dinners that just hits from the first chip to the last bite.

The Tex-Mex here is seriously top tier, and the portions are more than worth it. And let's not forget the creamy jalapeño dip... easily one of the best things on the menu! If you're looking for a spot with great food, great service, and a lively atmosphere, Chuy's is definitely the place to go. I'll 100% be coming back
