The tacos here are pretty good, but it depends on your expectation.
I wouldn't categorize this as one of the top taquerias in Denton, but I wouldn't oppose going here if someone suggested it.
The tacos here are pretty average in size, so the normal appetite would be content with 3 tacos.
They only provide one corn tortilla per taco, instead of the standard two. The tortilla was strong enough to hold it all together, but it was a little bizarre.
The chicken here is one of the better seasoned varieties in town. I'd put the meat alone as one of the top options in Denton.
The pastor was good, but the flavour profile definitely didn't make me think pastor. It was tasty, but it was not as flavourful as other options you might get in town. I thought they mistakenly gave me carne asada, but my whole party ordered pastor and received the same.
The chorizo breakfast taco was pretty dry. The scrambled eggs were cooked hard, and the flour tortilla reminded me of the store bought variety. The cheese just felt like an unnecessary accessory at a certain point.
The nopales was pretty good, but not super flavourful. Their nopales are grilled, not stewed, for those who are curious.
Probably my biggest gripe was how stingy they were with the cilantro and onions. I'll definitely ask for extra if I come back, but I've never run into this issue at any other taqueria in town.
I will say they were more than generous with the salsas though. They gave me 2 red and 2 green salsas for my 4 tacos in comparison to Guanajuato only giving 1 red OR green salsa with 6 tacos.
My review would more realistically fall at 3.5, but I'm rounding down because the only thing I'd return for is the chicken. Even with that, the meat alone can't be the taco's saving grace. My opinion might be different if I came back and asked for more cilantro/onions and an extra tortilla. read more
