Stopped here because we found our favorite restaurant down the street is closed early on Sunday. It should have been a clue when we walked in and no one was there on a Sunday !There was a guy either cook or wait staff asleep in the booth next to us. As for the food. I'm originally from El Paso and probably the best place for authentic Mexican cuisine. This place is no where near Mexican food. I ordered the enchiladas. Where do I start. The sauce tastes like my best guess is chili from a can, and the meat if that's what you call that. I cannot even explain the taste but yuck. The rice is very bland The beans were just beans. My husband ordered the chimichanga he took one bite and asked me to taste it. I said that's cheese from a can. He said it is right I thought the taste was weird. My daughter ordered the shrimp cocktail. They filled a glass with thick tomato juice and tossed some shrimp in it. There was some few remnants of onion and teeny tiny pieces of cilantro. She did not eat after 2 bites. I tried it and said nope . My husband who loves shrimp cocktails tasted it and asked. Why is so thick it just taste like tomato. He didn't eat it. My recent visit and ones prior have been much better than from my previous review. Seems as though there have been some changes. My go to is the chicken quesadillas or combo fajitas for two when my husband is with me (I prefer the chicken he loves the beef). The fajita chicken is so juicy and full of flavor it keeps me coming back. And IMO the superstar is the salsa... I can't find any salsa that beats Migs salsa, warning it's spicier on the weekends, but for me it doesn't matter I always destroy their salsa, and we can't forget the warm freshly, made daily chips (I know because I used to work here). I enjoy their guacamole and the queso isn't the best nor the worst, goes really well on some enchiladas or burritos. Overall Migs is where it's at. read more

We love Miguelitos. Their staff is wonderful; there isn't a ton of turnover so we've seen a lot of the same faces for many years. They generally know our order before we're even settled and they're always in a great mood. Definitely reflects well on the overall culture and vibe of the restaurant. The food is also delicious - standard Tex-Mex, but the beef fajitas are well seasoned and some of their dishes (like the taco party) are great for us when we can't quite decide what sounds best on the menu. read more

This place is just mediocre. The margaritas are very sweet. Ground meat for the tacos are not cooked thoroughly and when I asked about it they told me it was the tomato sauce they use- I think not! I know uncooked hamburger meat so beware. The "stuffed" avocado is not stuffed at all just a cut up avocado with some chunks of meat thrown in it smothers in cheese. Salsa is good. I've heard that this is the best Tex-Mex in Denton County. My friends Roy and Beth treated me to a meal and I was not disappointed. My tilapia tacos were not only good, but were priced quite reasonably. Beth and Roy enjoyed their chicken and beef entrees. The appetizers however were somewhat overpriced for what they were. Guacamole was well made and delicious, but the queso was bland and inexplicably runny. That said, the salsa was spicy and some of the best I've had my entire trip. Beth and Roy liked their margaritas and the waiter was fast and efficient, if not a little bit checked out mentally. He called Beth both Ma'm and Sir in the same sentence, lol. Friendly staff and before you can blink there is food and drinks. I got the stuffed shrimp avocado. New spin. No batter just fresh ripe avocado shrimp and veg all cooked but still crisp and refreshing. I enjoyed it. Not too heavy. Ask for japs if you want it spicy. It could use a bit of a kick. We stopped here tonight for dinner. Have passed by here several times but have never been before. Decided tonight would be the night. When we walked in we were seated almost immediately. Ordered a couple of Michelob Ultras while perusing the menu. The waitress brought chips with salsa also. Chips were really good, fresh and crispy, salsa was good also. We also ordered a bowl of queso, was really nice and hot and a lot of flavor. I asked the waitress if she were ordering what would she get. She recommended the surf and turf which is a chili rellenos filled with steak, shrimp, sautéed bell peppers, onions, and cheese. Then topped with a delicious red sauce, cheese and sliced avocado and served with charro beans rice and lettuce and tomatoes. Honestly hands down the best Mexican restaurant meal I have had for as long as I can remember. My husband could not believe how many times while eating I kept saying how good it was. For my 100th review, I've chosen to review a place that is quite near and dear to my heart. I've been coming here for well over 13 years, even when it used to be in the older location downtown. That location actually used to be within walking distance from my house, and my mom would give me and my sister some cash and we would go eat charro bean soup for lunch every day. Miguelitos isn't exactly even in my top five restaurants, but through the years it's always been extremely consistent, to the point of being scary. I can go in, and j know exactly what I'm gonna get which is quite comforting. Sure, the salsa is a little different sometimes, or the tea isn't as sweet today, but not once have I ever been in and been disappointed with my meal. I always leave very full, and happy. Through the years I've had quite my fair share of the menu and I can attest that it's all delicious. At one point I was working my way through the menu out of boredom, as we were finding our way here every Friday night. (Something not uncommon for citizens of Krum) and I can attest that literally every dish I tried was delicious. Some of my favorites have been Belinda's enchiladas, the veggie quesadillas, and the Pollo Loco. I think something else that sticks out when I think of migs is the price. Most combo dinners are very very affordable, and other more substantial dishes are only around the 10$ range. You then work your way up to the 15$ range for steak or fish, and I believe the highest prices item is actually 16.99. Not bad, considering they have consistently been the only sit down restaurant that's been open the entire time we have lived here. Coming quite often means I've had my fair share of servers. Through the years I've seen new faces in training, my friends getting jobs here, old favorites move on, and some servers staying for the long haul. No matter what service has always been top notch, and the servers here could truly train people at other restaurants. They really impress me every time. Mariah has been working here ever since I can remember and she can take a twenty top order without writing a single thing down. I see a few reviews mentioning they have been declining, but I just don't see that at all. So if your in Denton. A few weeks ago we were passing through when we saw this place in an unassuming shopping center in the middle of Krum. We were kind of curious to stop in and check it out, but at the time we were on a separate food mission. Finally made it in yesterday and I'm glad we did, because who knew such a place could be found here! They are open at 11am every day, except Mondays when they are closed. The parking lot always seems pretty full, because they are popular, so we came during an off peak time. It turns out that wasn't really necessary because there were still a lot of cars there, but also because the place was huge! I didn't get to see all the areas of the restaurant, but it could probably hold at least 150. There were quite a few people there on a Saturday afternoon, but we didn't feel crowded at all. I was impressed with the décor: subtle and beautiful furniture with tasteful pieces that aren't cluttered and overdone like at a lot of Tex Mex restaurants. The architecture was lovely and someone spent a lot of time and love on the décor. The booths were cushioned with a lovely southwest tapestry as a soft and comfortable backrest. Even the temperature was comfortable! The only thing I would have changed is that front door is so heavy that it was hard to open. Service was fast, our server was efficient and working hard. We were greeted and led to our booth within seconds. Our drinks came fast, our food came fast, we were out of there in 30 minutes and we had not been rushing. I also loved that he asked if we wanted guacamole or queso while taking our drink order; so many places take so long to bring things that I kick myself for not asking sooner. The menu is a mix of mostly Tex Mex, a few more traditional Mexican dishes and then some really American items like a cheeseburger. I suppose, due to their location and lack of other restaurants in the area, they are trying to appeal to the maximum number of people. Okay, so the other reviews talk about how great the chips and salsa are, blah, blah, blah, right? Uh no! Those chips and salsa are fantastic and worth discussing! Those chips are clearly made in house and are exceptionally good. They were thick and flavorful, they weren't greasy, they weren't salted and they didn't need it! The salsa had spices you could see and was very hot (spicy, not temperature) so I couldn't eat much of it (spicy wimp) but my husband enjoyed it. The queso was pretty decent; not the best I've had but it'll do the trick, especially when you can't stop eating the chips, even though you are getting full! I had a difficult time deciding what to get. I normally get a combination plate when I'm at a Tex Mex place for the first time. It allows me to try a few options and decide if I want to come back. However, this location had so much on the menu that I couldn't decide and had to ask for more time. When our server came back to check on us, I gave up and just ordered the last thing I was looking at on the menu. That was a gamble that paid off! Now the menu has quite the range and though the combination items were very reasonable in the $7-8 range, some items on the menu seemed quite expensive. They also had shared portions and family meals. My husband ordered the quesadillas for $8.99. The quesadillas were more like a taco as they were grilled, but not pressed. There were 3 at a decent size served with veggies, guacamole and sour cream. It was a very good portion for the price. I had ordered the Steak and Grilled Tilapia which comes with flame grilled tenderloin, seasoned tilapia, beans and tomato, avocado and onion for $15.99. I also added a side of rice for $1.25. When it arrived I was struck by the amount of food, I had assumed smaller portions, but both the steak and fish were full meal portions! Talk about worth the money! They mistakenly brought me charro beans, but that took them about 30 seconds to fix. The steak was so flavorful and delicious, I will definitly order it again. It had a little more fat then I prefer but that flavor profile makes that insignificant, and I can't stop thinking about that awesome taste. The tilapia was a really nice surprise, I'm not much of a fish person (told you, I just ordered what I was looking at on the menu). It was perfectly cooked, flaky, with a crisp outside and cut with a fork with zero effort. There was a smidge too much lemon for my taste, but I don't actually like a lot of lemon, so it is probably perfect for most people. The salad would be the perfect thing to cut through that much acidity, but I didn't find the salad fresh, so I didn't really have much of it except some lettuce. The refried beans were well above average and very good. The rice could use some work, it was a little soft and mushy, but the flavors were good. That may have just been an off batch and since it's so cheap, I'll probably try it again on a future visit to see if it is served the same. Great first visit, can't wait to come back! read more

Moving to Krum I was worried that I was going to have to go back to Denton for some good Mexican food. I love me some good Mexican food! But on the main road is this cool building with multiple cars in the parking lot at all times of day, Miguelitos. Walking in we were quickly greeted by the friendly host and taken to a large booth. Our waitress quickly greeted us and blessed us with a large bowl of chips and a small bowl of salsa for everyone at the table. Now most people say that you can tell how good the Mexican restaurant is based on their chips and salsa. Well Miguelitos has delicious chips and salsa. The chips are fresh and crispy with the perfect amount of salt. The salsa tastes like it was just made and full of flavors. Off to a great start! We just ordered guacamole tostadas so I don't have a lot of food to review, but the tostadas were really good. They were huge and filled with guacamole and toppings. They were fresh and crispy, while soft and flavorful guacamole. The rice and beans were also good and made for a really nice meal.
