My wife and I first discovered this little family-owned, family-operated gem about 12 years ago. We were in Decatur quite a bit back then for work. We still make time to drive out there from the metroplex frequently, because it's worth the trip. The food is delicious, and the portion sizes are a good value. I particularly recommend the pollo poblano and the beef fajitas, but I also enjoy their street tacos, which I believe are a more recent addition. (Only discovered them on the menu recently, anyway.) St. Torres has almost always been present when we're there, and he typically makes a point of stopping by to greet us and ask how our meal is. He also employs a number of family members, and the whole staff is quite friendly and helpful. read more

The ambiance is nice and our waitress was great. The food was just ok. The queso, refried beans and rice tasted either pre-made or as if poured directly from a can. There was little to no seasoning on anything. The guacamole had no flavor ... no lime juice, no salt, no garlic. Consistently good no matter what time of day or what you order. The parking lot is always full when it's open -- that says it all.

I knew this was going to be good when I pulled in the parking lot and there were a lot of contractors work trucks. They know where good Mexican food is. I was by myself for lunch and ate at the bar. I was seated instantly and the chips and salsa arrived as I did. Mia was my Bartender and server and was very nice and attentive. Despite her young appearance, she seemed knowledgeable at bartender. I ordered the Margarita on the rocks and the Carne Asada plate. The both arrived quickly. The margarita was good and not too weak like many are now. The food looked great. They placed the food on top of the ranchero sauce instead of drowning the food and ruining the plating appeal. The steak by itself had very good smoky flavor. The enchilada was great and the ranchero sauce ties it all together. An excellent meal in a nice atmosphere. Over all great experience and delicious meal. read more

My rating is FIVE STAR. We love to order beef or cheese enchiladas with chili sauce. It comes with rice, beans, sausa, chips and fun. My wife and I often make a picnic of the feast or take it home. First time trying! Moved to the area over the summer and pass all the time and today, so glad we stopped in. First, it's a busy place but not overly crowded, which is always a great sign to me. Excellent meal. Very nice place, parking is tight because it is always busy. Seated right away. Server showed in about two minutes and took our drink order. Menu is pretty standard for Tex-Mex so we ordered combo plates with tamale, enchilada and taco. Salsa and chips came and they are very good. Salsa is medium hot but very edible and the chips were crispy and fairly thin. I did notice the Owner walls around talking to guests, monitoring employees and making sure. We wanted Mexican and coming from California to check out Decatur I of course checked out Yelp for dinner. Casa Torres popped up and Mexican sounded yummy. Of course coming from California where Mexican food is exceptional plus I had read Mexican in Texas was hit and miss. Anyways we decided to give it a try. Glad we arrived early and were able to get a table quickly. The restaurant is quite large and the noise level is somewhat loud for those who like it a bit more quiet. We were waited on quite quickly given the fact that they were quite busy. I loved the salsa that comes with the chips. Kind of picky since I am Hispanic. After driving all day and being a hot summer day, a margarita was needed. Lol. Again I'm pretty picky about them, but I was NOT disappointed. A different color than I am use to but it was very tasty. Nice blend of sweet and sour without having an over the top alcohol taste. My husband and I shared what was claimed to be a BIG burrito and we chose chicken. It was very good and had melted queso (cheese) on top. Had lots of chicken in it, but definitely we have had much bigger burritos other places. The service was great and would definitely go back. We have been going here since it first opened. It used to be excellent food. Now the prices have gone up and the quality has slowly but surely gone down. Ordered poblano chicken to go tonight and the chicken was way overcooked , the three tiny little slivers of poplano peppers and onions on top were raw. The salsa seemed watered down. It was not edible and it went in the trash. Very disappointed. Will give them one more shot and if its as bad as it was tonight we won't be back. read more
