I was excited to try a new Mexican restaurant not far from home. Bleck. I was not a fan. The guacamole was good. The bottle of coke was good. The chips and salsa weren't bad. The decor was nice. And that's where the "pros" end, IMO! My husband and I LOVE queso fundido. According to the menu they do it a little differently and include poblano peppers and corn. The proteins available were chorizo and steak. We decided to go with the steak. The queso fundido came out in a bowl and it honestly looked like they threw the cheese in the bowl topped it with minimal other ingredients, then nuked it in the microwave. The tortillas appeared to be store bought which is a disappointment but not necessarily different from other restaurants so I don't hold that against them. The enchiladas rojas - the sauce was yucky and I had to scrape as much of it off as I could. The tortillas were full of what looked like monterrey jack cheese but were so boring and bland. I thought cheese made everything better but apparently I was mistaken. I ate less than half of the 3 enchiladas before I gave up. My husband got the chicken quesadilla. Same story - no flavor. The elote - not good. They asked if we'd like dessert and by that point I was just done. No dessert, thank you. Hate that this was not a positive experience but I guess we can't win them all! There were many positive reviews for the restaurant so there is definitely something that many diners like. Just not me. read more

This is a trendy/contemporary spin on Mexican. It is pricier than other local Mexican spots, but you can understand why when you take a look at the pics. I was very pleased with the drinks and desserts. The Palomita was SO good and they were generous with the alcohol! I was also recommend the pastel de zanahoria y calabaza...their spin on carrot cake. It was so unique and flavorful! I ordered the Rojas enchiladas but with Sour Cream Sauce. The sauce was great but I thought it would still come with the sautéed potatoes and carrots on top but it did not, so it was a little bland. Not a huge fan of the salsa that was served with the chips, but overall I would say that I was pleased with the food. read more

This was our first time trying this restaurant. I ordered the carne asada tacos and they just didn't taste great. They were okay. Flavor was bland. My husband liked his al pastor tacos, though. I also ordered a margarita which was fine. Service and staff were great. Overall, not terrible, but not great. We won't be going again as eating out is expensive and when we do go out to eat, we want it to be worth it. read more

This is our third trip to Tequila Ranch. This is a hidden gem in Argyle. Food and services are tops, really good margaritas and reasonable prices. I have sampled several of the tacos and love the Tacos Pabil and Chicken Pastor. My wife loves Mole and the chicken enchiladas mole were amazing. We started with the queso and it was a silky smooth white cheese delight. If you live in Argyle, Justin, Robson, Denton or FloMo, Tequila Ranch deserves a visit. read more

Walked in, waited, walked out. We walked in about 330 and the dining area was completely empty but the bar was near capacity and there was the bar tender and another employee. We stood near the empty hostess stand in clear view of the bar area waiting to be seated. We stood there awkwardly for with no acknowledgement from either employee. The bar tender clearly made eye contact with us. No "welcome", no "we will seat you soon." Just silence. After about 3 minutes we decided to head to a tried and true restaurant down the road. Not great. Pricey considering. I've been here a couple times for lunch. The style is NOT TexMex. Thinks more West Coast tapas style. The food is good; it's just a different style. Service has been a consistent miss. Employees have the bad habit of sitting together at a back table talking and not paying attention to entering customers. Table service is consistently slow and inattentive. This time, we shared guacamole and split a lunch entree. I had a Modelo and she had a glass of wine. It was a light lunch, but enough. I was so happy to have a Mexican restaurant in our community, but this place, as their webpage states, is Mexican reinvented. Reinvented is right. We've tried it four times (why? idk!) over the last year, hoping they would one day serve good ol' TexMex style food. Sadly that hasn't happened. It's in a very cool location and would be a much bigger hit if they hadn't reinvented a type of food Texans love. I love chile relleno so tried it today. The pepper was tasty, but the filling was a stringy, light tan, pasty substance. Not appealing at all. The service is good. read more

It's a new restaurant in this upcoming neighborhood servicing Northlake, Justin and Argyle. The restaurant was clean and well staffed. It's a bit small for a restaurant as our table for 6 was right in the path of customers walking out. The food isn't traditional Mexican or TexMex it's different in a good way. They are a bit on the pricey side. The cocktails were expensive too. Being new, with new employees some of their waitstaff need experience. But it is a good option for folks in this area. read more

Have now been to this restaurant many times since it is a five-minute drive from our home. Service is still spotty at best and sometimes just rude. In fact, I have never left there saying that our service was good. And although they "take reservations" and we have made them for a group of 8 or more several times, each time when we walk in there is not a table set for that many and they scramble to get it set. We have never been shut out because it was too crowded, but also never been seated at a prepared reservation table. When they first opened it was a mole type of dip at the beginning with the free chips, now it is more of a traditional salsa, but a very high quality one. I actually prefer it now. To me, drinks are on the small side. I now have a new favorite dish here - the Chili Camaron, a fired grilled roasted poblano pepper stuffing with sauteed shrimp, peppers and onion, chihuahua cheese over tomato habanero sauce. It is excellent. If you go to their website and try to look at the menu, it opens a Canva site which you need some kind of app or special browser to then open. Highly annoying. Instead, just click order online and get to a menu page that way. This restaurant is rarely crowded on a Friday night, so I don't see how it will survive long term. Food is good, but service is likely chasing people away. read more

Folks, ignore the naysayers, this is the real deal. This is not "Tex Mex", this is "Mex Mex", the kind of food you'd have in Guadalajara or Mexico City. Yes, there is a difference. Queso Fundido is not the chips and queso you'd have at On-the-Border, it's different. If you haven't been to interior of Mexico and are looking for something new, you've found it. If you have been there, youre in for a treat. This is the kind of place you'd expect off Greenville Avenue in Dallas, not out here in the sticks. The place itself is gorgeous, they spent megabucks on the buildout. The ceviche is large, fresh and a perfect balance of flavors. The mole is rich. The ribeye is one of the best bargains on the menu and came out a perfect medium rare. My wife's stuffed poblano pepper was tasty and beautifully presented. The margaritas are hand-crafted and delicious, served in a crystal glass. I'd rate them about a 4.3, but considering the value for the money and the prior reviews expecting something different I'm bumping it to a five. Folks, patronize this place. They weren't busy on a Saturday night and if the word doesn't get out, they won't last. They have nice outdoor seating too for what it's not a blast furnace outside. Every time we come here, we're very warmly greeted and seated where we want. They are very attentive, the owner, manager and rest of wait staff. When they take our orders, they usually recall my food allergies and make suggestions to make sure I don't receive a meal that could induce a serious reaction. All of the meals we've had here are really great, tasty in a northern Mexican sort of way. I especially love their handmade guacamole and chicken enchiladas Verde. The frozen margaritas are very low priced and great tasting. In all, I cannot say I'd find a better Mexican establishment to visit as this place is tops with us as far as comfort and ambience, great tasting food and impeccable service! read more

This place is awesome! If you want El Fenix, do not come here. The food is prepared fresh and has a neuvo twist to it. My daughter was in town from New York, so my better half and I decided to take her to this new place. First, my dad always told me you can tell how good the food will be by the quality of the cocktail. The margaritas on the rocks were perfectly prepared! Made fresh and no pre-mix was used. The service was spectacular. Food was brought out at once by several servers. It had not been run through a "hot dolley" like most Mexican restaurants do. Plates were prepared fresh and brought out. We chose enchiladas and they were spectacular. I had a cup of soup vs rice and beans and it was very hearty. They had a great bar and the interior was beautifully decorated. We sat on the patio tho. I do recommend they get some heaters, though it was a gorgeous night. We will be back and try dinner at the bar for sure. We decided it's our New Mexican place to go. read more

The only drawback was it was noisey inside. The patio would have been nicer. I had the enchiladas with negro mole and it is one of my favorites. This was very good with just a hint of bitter chocolate. My wife had the Verde enchiladas. We both had chicken as our protein and it was tasty without being runny. I also had the Pasole.
