I've been to this restaurant twice and I'll start by saying the customer service is very average but the menu is very unique. I think the average customer service is due to the fact that many of the orders are delivered. The times I was there, it seemed like the small staff was busy taking orders over the phone causing a delay on the start of my order. Fat Shack is in a college town so I believe they're catering mainly to the students but don't let this stop you from going. I went during lunch time and there were other grown ups like me :) I just want people to know that I wasn't treated like a princess when I went there but the fun menu makes up for that! If you're craving cheesy, gooey, creamy, crunchy junk food this is the place to go. They have unique burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. I got a cheeseburger with fried macaroni. It was delish. The first time I went, I got a wrap. It was good but I prefer the burger. Also, their fries are really good. If you're looking for a place to pig out to and not care about being healthy, then this is the place. They put a bunch of different things into a sandwich and it's pretty good. This is your typical "drunk food" right here. They are open really late, so it's a good late night meal. Make sure you save room for dessert, it's worth it. This place is an indecisive pregnant woman's dream come true!! I originally went for the burger but once I saw the fat sandwich options it was a no brainer! I got the Fat jersey (philly cheesesteak, chicken tenders, cheese sticks, fries ) it was a huge sandwich and omg so good!! I've visited the fat shack numerous times, sometimes you can be met with a bit of a wait but it is well worth it! Most people like to rate based off service, but I'm going to talk about the quality of the food and the overall experience. My husband found this place on Google. Google for some reason has more stars than Yelp, and I didn't check Yelp. Although a lot of reviews are service based, I still trust Yelp more. Nonetheless, we came yesterday for some grub. First thing, didn't love the location. The Italian market next to it was cool, but it's still in a run down ghost like strip mall. Signage didn't make me want to go in but rather turn around, just overall not my type of place that makes me say "I want to eat here!" We go in, and well...it stinks. There's food on the floor and tables and flies inside. It looks like there's only one guy working there, the manager. He was a very nice man. I give him 4 stars for friendly service. I hesitantly order with my husband and we go sit in the booths with rips in their seats and the place smelling like old food and cleaning supplies. The curtain to the back is open so I can see their food storage and it's just not my thing. The big bean bag was cool, but you're not gonna catch me sitting on that. I can see it being a good place for 22 year olds to go after drinking heavily at the bar. Now, the food. Not good. I wanted it to be good. It all tasted like cleaning products, wasn't very hot, and just tasted like I left it in the fridge overnight and popped it in the microwave. I wish the sandwiches came with some fresh produce in them in addition to all of the fried and cheesy things it comes with. Even the fountain drinks had a taste to it...husband says chlorine. I still say cleaning supplies taste. To everything. My husband thought it was decent, he ate his food and thought "perfect college hangover food". Visited there for first time a few days ago. Not impressed and not likely to return. Kitchen was very visible and I could see that cleanliness standards and staff food handling standards are below par. Staff did not demonstrate they cared I was there and were more interested in resuming the conversation I interrupted. Nearly $15.00 for a large cheesesteak sandwich that didn't have much flavor and the roll was not fresh (looked store bought. Baffles me why this when Ravelin bakery is within 2 block distance). Other ingredients for sandwich looked like mass market versus deli fresh). Wait time was 10 minutes for a to go order. I do not recommend this place. Value for money isn't here. Many better offerings around Denton that you should try than this place. For an eatery in a college town, they should be killing it. But with bad service, too expensive for the "lower" types of food offerings, and a space desperately in need of a Robert Irvine or Gordon Ramsey overhaul, Fat Shak needs to be replaced with something muuuuch better. read more

Especially on the weekends when they deliver until 3AM! Really convenient if you're like me and get these kinds of cravings late into the night. I'm not big on their signature Fat Sandwiches, just too much stuff for me, and their chicken fingers aren't very good. The cool thing about this restaurant though is the big menu full of fried, delicious goodness. For desserts, the fried Oreos are our favorite. So good! They also serve ice cream and milkshakes! The burgers are also surprisingly good and seasoned well. I'd highly advise against the mozzarella sticks, they tasted frozen. Their cheese fries on the other hand are extremely satisfying! So here's the deal. If your stoned, anything on this menu is good. But their hidden gems are their burgers. I would give them five stars if they just focused on burgers. It's the perfect size. The lettuce and tomatoes are fresh. I added bacon which is crispy the way I like it. I also added fried onion rings which were thin, crispy and delicious. Ordered delivery on a Tuesday around 9:30pm. Called in it as well. Ordered a $15 sand which so I was expecting something great and worth my money. Ended up throwing half away. Delivery time: 1 hour and 25 minutes to get less then 3 miles down the road. Food quality: Disgusting. My food was literally cold, and the fries that came on the sand which tasted like they say in the fridge for a day before getting put on. Very soggy. Incredibly dry.
