Take this from a Vietnamese American girl who was born and raised in Orange County, California: the Meekong burger is FANTASTIC and AUTHENTIC. We stopped here for lunch, and I was a bit hesitant at first. We were seated and I was told they no longer serve their cocktails, which was disappointing. They still have beers, but that's about it. We started with ordering some appetizers: we ordered their pork bun baos and their pork spring rolls. Both were decent, but okay. It made me not have any expectations for what was about to come next. Their Meekong burger is a fusion burger, yet, it was completely authentic. Their meat patty has the texture and taste of nem nuong and they use the actual pickled vegetables from a banh mi sandwich. We have their pickled lettuce and daikon, amidst the banh mi mayonnaise sauce. It was absolutely a banh mi sandwich contained into a little American burger. Again, seldomly so I praise Vietnamese restaurants since I can get authentic food at my mom's house. Yet, this burger absolutely knocked my socks off. Delicious and amazing! I am a big fan of Vietnamese food and Meekong Bar has been on my radar for some time. I was able to swing by on a Thursday around noon to try the place out, and there was no wait time to get seated. Fortunately I was in the SLU/South Queen Anne area, but I can totally seeing it being really difficult to find parking when it gets really busy during peak hours. The only parking options nearby are streetside parking with some paid lots - would recommend public transportation to get here to try the place out. Service was fast - this could also be attributed to going on a weekday, we were able to receive our food in about 8 - 10 minutes after ordering. Ambiance is cozy, feels like a casual dine in with lots of natural lighting and the decoration is charming. We got two items, which I'll review down below: Granny's Pork Belly Baos ($8): A tasty bun! The pork was tender and was nicely complemented by the slightly tart apples and floral plum sauce. The buns were light and fluffy and the green onion and cilantro provided a fresh herb taste. I think that $4 per bun is pretty standard price wise for two buns of this quality, and they service a pleasant appetizer. Village Bowl ($16): The Village Bowl is a vermicelli bowl that has all of the fixings - serves as a nice sampler into the types of meats that the restaurant has to offer. It was delicious! The meats were not too heavily salted, flavored well, and were cooked nicely. Portion-wise is decent and would maybe fill most people up. I think that maybe a little larger was would be perfect as I still left a little bit hungry after this bowl and an appetizer. I would say that Meekong Bar is pretty solid if you are looking for Vietnamese food in the SLU/upper belltown area. I think the thing that Meekong Bar has going for it is mostly the price, as other Vietnamese restaurants in the area charge much more ($4 - $6 more) for the same dishes. Meekong Bar was the perfect stop after visiting the Space Needle--especially on a rainy day. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, exactly what we needed to unwind. I ordered the chicken pho, and it was incredible--so comforting, flavorful, and served piping hot. You can really taste the quality in the broth. We also tried one of their chicken rice dishes (the non-soup option), and it was just as delicious--simple, satisfying, and full of flavor. The order is well packaged with the raw beef and bean sprouts / lime / jalapeño packaged separately neatly. The noodles were cooked to a little under al dente to ensure the noodles do not get too soggy and soft after pouring the broth. The broth was still warm after 20 minutes. Food wise, the pho overall is okay. I didn't really like the broth of this one, but the ingredients were fresh. The portion size is on the smaller side. Pork belly was flavorful and lovely inside the bao, spring rolls were solid - they also had several other protein options. The beef pho was excellent, with plenty of flavor in the broth and plenty of noodles to fill up on. The vermicelli bowl the largest of the entrees, but continued plenty of protein and veggies and overall was very refreshing. Interior was clean and modern, with plenty of seating. My wife and I stopped by here for lunch and she ordered the Vietnamese yellow curry with chicken and lemongrass and jasmine rice and I ordered the red curry with bamboo and seasonal vegetables and jasmine rice. My wife had the spice level of 2 and I got the spice level of 5. Both curries were excellent and I loved the spice level of 5. It was hot but not burning hot. The amount of food served was alot and for the price, very good value. My wife and I were both very full after the meal. Our waitress was very friendly and given how crowded the restaurant was, very busy too. The decor of the restaurant/bar is very stylish with a curtain of silver colored beads separating the dining area from the bar area (where you can dine too). One quirky touch: there is a bowl of free condoms at the front of the restaurant (like the famous Cabbages and Condoms restaurant in Bangkok). Meekong Bar really does great curries! Probably more like a solid 3.5. Super reliable takeout. While i haven't sit down here, i have ordered "to go" on several occasions. They are quick, affordable, and the food taste great. Especially after looking at crazy DoorDash pricing that cost, $50 for the same vermicelli + spring rolls i can get here for $24. They package well and hosts are nice! My boyfriend and I came to this place and honestly I thought it was called Burger, Banh Mi, and Pho instead of Meekong Bar. The service was really nice and I saw that there was a server in training on a busy Friday night and I thought he did great on such a busy night. We got bun bo hue, the pho combination, and the banh mi burger. The soups were great and had a clean broth, I really enjoyed having the fried shallots on top of my bun bo hue. Mala pho!! What an amazing fusion place. Mala and pho are two of my favorites and this place combines them both in a wonderful way. I loved how this place included a lot of vegetables in the pho, it complimented the heavier broth very well. I found this place during the pride parade a couple years ago, but I couldn't remember the name until recently. This place automatically gets a five star review from me because they allowed people to use the restroom during the pride parade. Now on to the food! One of my new favorite spots! Delicious Asian fusion restaurant with so many fun options. So far I've tried the mala pho and banh mi burger. We were looking for a place to eat after visiting the Space Needle and Meekong Bar was about a 10min walk. The food was soo good, affordable, with pretty big portions. They also had really tasty and cheap cocktails. For cocktails I tried the lychee martini and Moscow mule - both were $8 and pretty strong. For food, I had the red curry which was one of the most flavorful curries I've had. You can also pick the spice level too. I have to make a review on Meekong bar because I think by far it's one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle, located in Belltown. Does family own restaurant has a very clean, modern interior space with tons of seating for small and large groups. There's also a bar with plenty of cocktail selections at a very affordable price so you're not paying $20 for a watered down ginger ale vodka. The food is amazing here and you could taste every dish that has been made truly with love and care. Absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. I'd also have to give a shout out to another favorite dish of mine, which is the Hue style beef noodle soup also known as Bun Bo Hue. It's perfect for cold weather here in Seattle. On the lighter side, I would recommend the granny Smith apple pork belly bao buns, fried chicken wings, And spring rolls. It's funny having a debate with somebody from the East Coast that calls eggrolls spring rolls? And spring rolls summer rolls? And dependent on the weather in Vietnam and what they eat but I say spring rolls are spring rolls made with rice paper not fried, ha! The customer service here is incredible and I've gotten to know some of the staff/family members having eaten here every 2-3 weeks for the past year and a half. 1/12/23 update: I am downgrading this review to 2 stars after the comments from the owner below. This was an experience that "could've been better" which is the 2 star definition on Yelp. My experience may not be your experience but I stand by the fact that this was a mediocre experience for me. This place showed up on my radar again after the burger showed up on a Seattle Times burger list. Here's the items we ordered 1. Meekong burger. Burger itself did taste like a bahn mi but the fries were soggy and limp. I don't like my fries like that but some people may prefer soft fries. 2. Chicken skewer vermicelli bowl. Chicken was tender but barely any noodles and the fish sauce was not particularly flavorful either. 3. Spicy beef noodle soup. Average. This place doesn't do pho well in my opinion. 4. Veggie pho. The waitress hyped up the broth and said it was better than anywhere else. It was so bland and tasted tasted like salt water. It also came with 4 small pieces of tofu so it was overpriced. You'll find yourself fishing for every piece of veggie because you're still hungry. I do not like this place for big groups (5 or more). The back of the restaurant is dark, dreary and windowless. My mom had trouble reading the menu. The front of the restaurant is so much nicer for 2s and 4s. Not a place that I would return to. It serve the purpose to feed my hungry family. read more

Placed an online order. It was completed within 20 minutes. Which was good. Now...the bad. Within 10 minutes of picking it up all the pad Thai noodles had congealed into one big ball. Maybe a lack of sauce. Shrimp tasted like dirt. Not sure how that happens. Plain rice was just plain rice. Crab Rangoon were pretty good. Asked for extra soy sauce and sweet and sour. Got 7 packets of sweet and sour and one of the smallest little containers with soy sauce. Maybe a tablespoon. Seemed a stretch to charge me $38 for that. read more
