I have been coming to Medlin-Davis Cleaners for many years and will not be doing so in the future. They cleaned 3 dresses for me recently which I collected and paid for before heading on a trip. When I got home a note said "garment should be wet cleaned, we will need your approval before proceeding"! So I've paid for a cleaning, can't wear the dress and all it would have taken was a simple phone call to get my approval. So now if I took the dress back I assume I'd be paying again. This is not the first time this has happened so my advice is to check your items before you leave the premises. read more

Run and never come back! You will be better off washing the garments at home. They consistently ruin clothes by allowing other colors to bleed over. The clothes are never really clean after their dry cleaning , the stains stay on after I specifically ask to pre treat. I will not be visiting this dry cleaner again. They charged me $17 to clean a dress they didn't even clean. When I picked up my dress is still had makeup all over it, I'm convinced all they did was steam it but they did not clean my dress. They offered me a redo but since it was the weekend and I needed to wear the dress the next day, it really was a null and void offer because they couldn't redo the cleaning until Monday. I'd be sure you inspect your clothes before and after to ensure your clothing is actually clean if you use this location. I really should have just asked for refund but I'll give them an opportunity to redeem themself by bringing my dress back. read more

They offered 200 to resolve this when the dress was 312 originally. Turner is the most unprofessional manager I have ever met and did not once apologize for ruining a dress and damaging another then cleaning it without permission. HONEST REVIEW AND EXPERIENCE PLEASE READ BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH MEDLIN-DAVIS (Spoiler: it was terrible service in multiple regards). My wife dropped off her mud covered wedding dress on December 3rd. We opted to go with Medlin-Davis despite their higher than average price because we were familiar with the name from their several locations. We were told that her dress would be ready for pick-up on December 24th at 5:00 PM (this was printed on our pick-up ticket). Because of the holiday, we didn't go to pick up the dress until December 27th (they had 2 extra days if I exclude Christmas). When I got there they HAD NOT EVEN STARTED CLEANING IT YET. So it sat covered in mud for almost an entire month and then they didn't have the courtesy to even call to say that it wouldn't be ready on the stated pick-up date. They said it would be an additional two to three weeks (which was the original quoted time frame a month prior) before it would be ready but this time they said they would call... Roll over to January 14th we received a call saying the piece was ready to be picked up. Thinking that the business would at least acknowledge the extreme inconvenience I went through, let alone the risk of not having the dress cleaned promptly when it was covered in mud, I expected even a slight discount or even an apology at the very least. However, I was told "no, it's still $257." or something and the girl "helping" just stared at me, annoyed that I even had an opinion that they had delivered terrible customer service. She said if I wanted to speak with someone else about it I could come back the next day (still no consideration of my time). I emailed the business office stating my frustration but just like before it's been radio silence so I feel it is my civic duty to WARN everyone about working with Medlin-Davis and perhaps you should consider a business that respects its customers and the garments they're trusted to clean. Tucked away in the back of Cameron Village, Medlin-Davis is a local dry cleaning chain but they do it all pretty well. This location has an attached laundromat and drive-thru pick-up service. They've also got a tailor onsite for quick clothing repairs. I can't say they're cheap but their customer service is above average as is their cleaning. My boyfriend brought his suit to this place to be dry cleaned on Wednesday and they told him it would be ready either Thursday or Friday with an email confirming it'd be ready (no emails were ever sent). Saturday rolls around and we go try to pick it up and they said they sent it out and won't be back til Monday due to a stain. Mind you our event is SATURDAY. They NEVER notified or emailed us to tell us this, otherwise we would've said don't send it out! At the time of business they said nothing could be done and we could talk to their manager on Monday. I have used this place for the past 2 years with no issue. They have always been pleasant and helpful but I am done using them. The other day, I took my sister's clothes to them for dry cleaning and specifically requested the be gentle and wash her clothes delicately as they were expensive pieces. The guy behind the counter was in a terrible mood and said "I don't do the clothes...I just put your order in the system." I took a brand new white linen Casper jacket that had been worn less than two hour, I had gotten a lipstick stain on the collar. when I went to pick it up the jacket was a mess. I don't know what they did but I said I wouldn't pay for it. it didn't even look as if they pressed it. The manager Tina, never even called me about it. when I went back a week later, it did look a little better and I just paid and took it! I wrote a bad review and was told I could get the $10.62 credit. Now the manager said she knows nothing about the refund message I had gotten! So who's in charge? After using the MD in Cameron Village for several years, without incident, I decided that it was safe to bring my more expensive clothing there, to have dry-cleaned. What a HUGE, expensive mistake that was! First, they scorched a very fine (lined) linen jacket, and burned the Mother-of-Pearl buttons by pressing it with a huge machine. It couldn't be repaired & I didn't even receive an apology. Three years later, after hearing that they cleaned leather, I brought them a beautiful lined suede jacket. When I picked it up, the blue suede had a distinct grey tinge to it. I pointed it out to the Cashier and she shrugged and said, "Oh, suede does that sometimes," as she collected my payment. When I got it home, I kept in on the hanger and tried to use a soft clean cloth to wipe off the grey-colored stains. As I opened the jacket's front, I noticed that there were several large rips in the lining! I brought the jacket back to MD & spoke to the Manager, who denied that the allover stains or rips could've occurred under their care. She actually implied that I had ripped the lining & dirtied the suede, myself, after I'd gotten it home! I loved that jacket! Why would I pay $50 to have my jacket cleaned and then destroy it?!? I will never take my clothes there, again, and will STRONGLY recommend that my family & friends stay away, as well! read more

We usually like to support business like this one within a walking distance, until they damaged the bottom trim of my top during the dry cleaning process. They refused to fix it at their tailor shop and they refused to pay me back, instead they are sending it out to their'lab' to 'evaluate' the item and see if the damage is cause by the manufacturer. I had the item sit with them for almost a month, I still don't have it. I don't think this place is professional enough to run its dry cleaning and tailoring business, because they failed both!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE 1) They are extremely overpriced. There are numerous other cleaners in the area that can produce the same, low-quality results as Medlin-Davis... for a quarter of the price. Use one of them and at least it won't sting as badly when you're appalled at the results. Obviously, overpriced services and sub-par results are not enough to justify a one-star rating, which leads me to my next point... 2) DO NOT GO HERE... They broke the button on a suit my husband had worn once.... fine, it happens. But they failed to mention that they broke the button, so we had to find out when we took the suit out at home. When we proceeded to bring the suit back and point out what they obviously knew they had done, they "graciously" offered to fix it free of charge. How very kind. After having a week to fix the button, my husband returns to pick up his suit tonight and obviously takes a look to make sure they actually fixed it. Well, they did put a new button on, but it was clearly not the same button (and if my husband was able to notice that it was a different button, then that's definitely an indication of how far off they actually were). When he pointed this out to the owner, he was told to hold the suit farther away and he wouldn't be able to tell the difference. When my husband offered to provide him with the local company that made his suit so they could find the correct button, the owner stated that this company was owned by his brother and he knew that's who made the suit. He then suggested that my husband reach out to the tailor (aka the owner's BROTHER) and find the button himself. I'm assuming he realized how ridiculous this sounded after it came out of his mouth, because he then proceeded to say "or maybe I could call him." That's where things left off and he has our number, so I guess we'll see what happens... **If the owner happens to follow through on rectifying the situation, I will edit this review. read more

Ok, hold on to your shorts: Did you know that these guys will pick up & drop off your dry cleaning at your house or office....(dramatic pause).....for free?? Seriously, you never have to go to the dry cleaners again. Here's how it works: You call or email them to say you're interested in the service, they call you back to set it up and let know what kind of schedule you'll be on. For example, I'm on a Tuesday & Friday rotation. You pick the location where you want to leave/receive your items (front door, back door, etc) and that's about it. On your first day, they drop off an over-the-door hook for them to put returned items on, a nice laundry bag with your name on it to leave for them and a hanger holder (to hold the extras until it's full, then they'll pick that up as well. You can leave laundry in a regular plastic bag that time too, if you're raring to go. They come by on the appointed days and pick up clothes, drop off clothes, both or neither if you don't have anything for them or to be returned - they come by regardless. They keep track of if you'll need a re-up on your laundry bags and hang that with your stuff too. Did I mention that all this is free? As in, it costs just as much for this as it does for you to take stuff to them but without the part about you having to remember to drive there, keep your ticket, drive back a few days later, etc. They can bill you at the end of the month automatically too, if you'd like (which I do). I've been using this service for about 6 months now and have never had a problem. Over the holidays there were a few Fridays they weren't open and didn't do pick-up/delivery, but a nice automated call let me know what was up and I didn't have any items anyway. I know this probably wont seem like a good deal for those that rarely have dry cleaning, but if you're like me and the majority of your work clothes are dry clean-able and you hate ironing...this is definitely your ticket to freedom! Oh, and it's not just for Raleigh-ites either. On their website they've got a map of their service area and it covers quite a bit of Cary, Apex, Holly Springs and North Raleigh too! read more

I am incredibly disappointed in this place and the one responsible for alterations / tailoring. 10 days ago I brought my shirt in to be cleaned, pressed, and have a few buttons re-sewn as they were starting to come loose. Fast forward a week, and they have collectively lost two buttons, broken one, replaced the two lost buttons with random and unmatched buttons of various sizes (why they didn't use the spare buttons that come with the shirt is a mystery), seen two buttons on crooked so they don't line up with the button holes, and ended up pulling every seam around the button holes leaving unsightly runs as well as creating a run that stretched from the collar button to the shoulder pleat. On the last day, the sleeve cuff was stained brown. All in all, they destroyed my shirt. I was always told "come back tomorrow, were sorry well have that fixed" for a week in a row. Now they are giving me a runaround when it comes to reimbursing me for my destroyed garment. DO NOT take your clothes to this establishment if you value them. VERY POOR excuse for a tailor and a dry cleaner. read more

My fiance and I meandered in here the other day to clean her wedding dress. It smelled, so we took it here. This place seemed to have a good rep, so we went with it. We brought the dress in, and were out fairly quickly. We weren't in a hurry, so a three-day turn-around was fine with us. When we picked it up, there were quite a few cars in line, so we just went inside. We were in and out in just a couple of minutes. Awesome. **Pro Tip: Go inside. If there's any car in line, you'll get out quicker if you just go inside to pick up your dry cleaning. It was a little expensive, sure, but it's her wedding dress, so it's worth it, as long as it's high quality. And it was. The dress was handled well and the weird smell is gone. No complaints at all. I'll be back if/when I have more dry cleaning to do. read more

I have never seen a pair of pants pressed worse after a dry cleaning then this. There are creases everywhere, a double line on the leg creases, and the pockets are pressed into the pant showing marks! Not sure they can be fixed as it appears too much heat was used. Medlin-Davis Cleaners is the closest dry cleaners to me, so I continue to use them, despite subpar service. The first time I went to them, they ruined one of my blouses. Because it was two years old (even though I'd only worn it five or six times), I was offered minimal compensation in the form of a store credit, which kept me coming back. It seems that each time I walk in the door, some customer has a problem--lost items, stains or holes in clothes, too much starch even for "light starch." Once I saw a man who swore that he'd been returned a different shirt than the one he dropped off. The customer service varies greatly depending on who you get at the counter--some of the staff members are markedly unpleasant, but the manager who I worked with for the shirt mishap was quite nice. Other than the mishaps, however, it's a normal dry cleaner that gets the job done. read more

I've used this Medlin-Davis cleaner before, years ago. I stopped taking my clothes there because they used to turn my whites grey, never got the collars of my shirts clean, and delivered all clothes--laundered and dry-cleaned--smelling as though they'd been washed in used water. Soon enough, I found that virtually every other launderer/dry cleaner in Chapel Hill does the same: turning perfectly new and/or fine clothing into visibly used clothing in a single wash! Last week I returned to this store out of desperation, hoping maybe things had improved. Nope. Exactly the same results. Time to start laundering at home, again, I guess. Convenient hours, free wifi(their saving grace), reasonable washing machine prices but drop off prices are a bit much. Coin-operated washers don't fill all the way and driers are 25¢ for only 5 min. I've had clothes smell funny coming out of them as well. FYI- They refrain from placing "Out of Order" signs on inoperable machines. Make sure you check to make sure they're working properly, especially the driers. The owners will just let you continue to put quarters in. read more

This place deserves zero stars, frankly. I've been going here for a few years, and I will never do so again. Their customer service is at a long-time low, and their high prices, which I thought were for extra care for expensive and delicate garments, are no longer worth it. They recently destroyed a non-replaceable shirt, mangling the zipper and saying it "fell apart in their hands" but then they said they didn't know what happen since "the tailor has his own business." So they don't even communicate with one another. They also told me "he fixed it" and it still won't zip, furthermore he replaced the zipper handle without asking me and now that handle that I really liked is gone. The woman at the counter was super rude and didn't care, they clearly don't care about clothing or customers. You're better off washing your clothes in your sink than risking anything with this business. read more
