In July, I took in a tailored, three-piece suit for which I paid more than $1,400. They ruined the coat, which cost $800 alone. It was returned to me with stains that were not there when I brought it in as part of the full suit. I brought back the coat and accepted a complimentary recleaning. This time, I examined it on premises and found small holes that were not there before. Instead of admitting something had gone wrong, the owner Ben Hilker, took more than a week to have the coat "analyzed" and then claimed the damage was the result of insects harming the wool content. I reject that because Brothers' own policy is to examine garments at intake and note any flaws. None were noted because there were no flaws when the coat came in. It's only after it was twice cleaned by Brothers that damage appeared. I firmly believe that the so-called "analysis" is simply a ploy to avoid reimbursing me for a very expensive garment.

When I got home a note said "garment should be wet cleaned, we will need your approval before proceeding"! So I've paid for a cleaning, can't wear the dress and all it would have taken was a simple phone call to get my approval. So now if I took the dress back I assume I'd be paying again. This is not the first time this has happened so my advice is to check your items before you leave the premises.

With Giles Family Carpet Cleaning, I was not nickel and dimed to death with additional fees. What I was initially quoted was the actual price I paid--bedroom closets were included with the cost of each bedroom and my hallway linen closet was included with hallway charge. Rates were very reasonable and they also had weekend availability which made scheduling much easier for my husband and I. The gentleman that came did a wonderful job cleaning our carpets, and my husband even commented on how diligent he was in making sure every nook and cranny was cleaned. I also appreciated that a text confirmation was sent the day prior to the scheduled cleaning, confirming our appointment. While I consider my husband and kids to be fairly tidy , we did have some stains from a few spills that he was able to remove. We were very pleased with the results--the carpet was clean and plush looking/feeling as if it had been newly installed. I wish I would have taken some before and after pictures to show but unfortunately did not think to do so at the time.
