The bar itself isn't that large but has adequate seating. We ordered beer and cider to start and then the Moran burger and steak sandwich. These both come with either fries or a salad. We opted for fries. The burger is unlike most out there -- it has truffle mayo, arugula, Irish-style bacon, Irish cheddar, and crispy onions. OMG this was heaven! I love burgers and this ranks as one of the very best ones I've EVER had. The owner was there also serving drinks and he was so nice! Amazing pub in Hoboken! Will definitely be back!!

We grabbed seats at the rustic bar and enjoyed friendly service and pints of Kane Head High, my favorite beer. The crisp, refreshing brew went well with my cup of Chicken Noodle Soup. While that might sound like an odd "snack", I selected it because it was one of the few appetizers on the menu that was not fried. The broth seemed to interestingly be made of tomatoes and potentially other vegetables. It was packed with large, spiral noodles, shredded chicken, and fresh spinach. It was an interesting rendition for sure, but it was also very tasty, despite the fact that it was rather greasy. I was also bummed that it did not have more chicken and that it had not been served with any crackers. Oh well! Overall, it at least had left me with a much better impression than my last trip had.

A mid-80s Mets obsessive who yearns for the days of Mookie Wilson and Bob Murphy, I haven't kept up with baseball so much in recent years. That all-star game tie and DH in the NL didn't appeal to me so much. Game 7 of the World Series provided an opportunity for me to be a "normal American" and watch the game at the bar. But I didn't want to buy $80 of drinks so I figured I'd try for inning 6 and beyond and get the finale. So the plan was Cork City for part and maybe another for the ending. The game was on many TVs, caught that cool double play. The sound was on but the talking kind of drowned it out, which seemed less than ideal. However, after I left, none of the 30-ish bars I walked past even had the sound on! So much for all the "sports bars" in this town. (To be fair: it was Halloween weekend, and business decisions to appeal to 20-something women in lingerie and their admirers may have been a factor). After going to 14th and back I was ready to enjoy extra innings at Cork City. But they were at capacity. Game Over. Yes, I'm copping to my inexperience in Hoboken bar-going. Turns out Cork City offered the best baseball experience in town. As for the bar itself, I enjoyed the Peach Fuzz cider from Pennings. The service was friendly. I'll try again on an off-peak night. My plan didn't work out but at least I got some steps in and learned that many sports fans are liars.

This man walked out of cork city and was incredibly emotional. Threatening to fight anyone that talked to him. A woman took exception and called him out to which this drunk man proceeded to elbow the woman in the chest (her husband was a coward and didn't do anything). After this the customers at the bar were extremely upset and called the police. Ten minutes later the police showed up and walked the man to the opposite corner. This is where the management/security at Cork City showed their true colors. The Cork City employee (it was said that he was the owner but not sure if that is true) was overheard saying that the person that called the police in the bar would never be allowed back. Cork City itself never called the police to deal with this drunk lunatic. After another 30 minutes it became clear that this man was going to be let off scot-free. The customers outside started to grow restless at this fact and yelled to the police officers that they all witnessed the man assault a woman. During this time to Cork City representative told us that he did not see anything. Everyone outside saw what happened and he refused to hold the drunk man accountable. He was too worried about serving beers and his reputation than ensure the safety of others. This is disgraceful and I would hope nobody that knows this information ever gives them another dime. If you are looking for somewhere to get a nice chill drink in this area I would highly recommend Louise and Jerry's! Much better spot to enjoy a drink.

Unfortunately, this establishment has a bartender who seems determined to test that theory every shift she works. Rude, hostile, confrontational, and openly unwelcoming, she creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for anyone who isn't part of her preferred circle. I've watched customers get treated poorly simply because they rubbed her the wrong way. When a bartender's attitude becomes the most memorable part of the experience, that's a problem. I've ignored it before, but after repeated incidents directed at both me and my boyfriend, it's clear this isn't a bad day, it's a pattern. In Hoboken, customers have dozens of bars within walking distance. Hospitality isn't optional; it's survival. Making paying customers feel unwelcome is a bold strategy in a town where people can easily take their money elsewhere. Management should remember who actually keeps the lights on. Customers are hard to replace. Bartenders aren't. If this is the culture you're choosing to tolerate, don't be surprised when people choose to spend their money somewhere they're actually welcomed. There was only one other family dining, and the space stayed empty the entire time. The service was genuinely great. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and a really cute, cozy space. I especially loved the Christmas décor and overall vibe--it felt warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the prices. The house salad was $13 and honestly one of the most basic, smallest, and most boring salads I've ever had--very underwhelming for the cost. We also ordered quesadillas, a cheeseburger with fries, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. My son enjoyed the burger and fries, and the quesadillas were flavorful, generously filled with chicken and veggies, and came with sour cream, pico, and guac. The tomato soup was tasty, while the grilled cheese was just okay. One small but appreciated detail: canned soda. Cold, crisp, and not flat which is always a win. Lunch for 3 came in just under $100, which felt high given what we received. One frustration was being seated in a tight corner right next to the kitchen even though the dining room was completely empty. We were so close I could literally see into the kitchen and count items on the shelves. On top of that, the hostess repeatedly walked by calling out "corner," which became distracting and honestly a bit irritating. Overall, I liked the vibe, but the food-to-price ratio missed the mark for me. It wasn't bad--just alright.

Have visited McSwiggans countless times and always leave a happy customer. The bartenders and servers are extremely friendly and make attempts to remember repeat customers. Their $5 all you can eat deals are also amazing. Favorites are: Monday - wings (all are great!) Thursday -oysters (hit or miss. Some are great others seem poor quality) I wish they still had wachos as an option for the $5 deal. Nachos on top of waffle fries-- while it's still on the menu, it was sad to see that $5 deal go. The real wood burning fire is a great touch during the winter and the outdoor seating/retractable walls set a great atmosphere in the summer. If you like a casual "homey" feeling to a bar, McSwiggans is definitely worth a try. read more

It was an uncomfortable experience and I'm not going to keep quiet about it. Unfortunately, I didn't get any names, but I wish I did. Upon walking in, we seated ourselves at the very end of the bar. The bartender (a woman) who took our orders and made our drinks showed disdain for us. Why? Well, we're still trying to figure that out. We were polite and friendly during every interaction. Not once were we disrespectful, rude, or rowdy. Riddle me this... She barely made eye contact with us. No smiles, no warmth. Very standoffish. Very brief with her words. She acted like we were a bother... like she was doing us a favor. She and the other two bartenders (also women) did not check in on us or interact with us at all. In fact, they were barely at our end of the bar. We had to get their attention every time. It should not be that way... it should be the other way around. They all treated us in the same standoffish manner. We don't ask for servers to be up our a$$es every second... but what we do ask for is to be treated with basic respect and to at least feel welcomed. Bare minimum, isn't it? We thought that maybe they were having a bad day... but NAH. During the hour and a half we spent there, I observed the women interact with other customers at the bar. They were smiling, laughing, conversing, and being attentive to them. In fact, the bartender who made our drinks came from behind the bar to talk to customers seated next to us. I also observed her smoking and interacting with more customers outside. We couldn't even get a simple "you're welcome" out of her... LOL. When she handed us our drinks, of course we warmly said "thank you". No response or acknowledgement. A second later, she hands another customer their drink, they thank her, and she warmly says "you're welcome" to them. This might sound like a petty detail, but when you're being treated in a cold manner, these little things matter. When we received our bill, we still tipped 20%. In reality, they didn't deserve one. But I suppose being the bigger person can't hurt sometimes... :-) Girl... we didn't have to be here. There isn't a shortage of Irish pubs in the Hoboken area. First and last time.

Each time, I felt the local neighborhood touch, but other than that, there wasn't anything in particular that stood out. The prices were affordable, the menu options decent, and the service was easy and simple. And, I always loved supporting small businesses whenever possible. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience between the two visits was around $22.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

(Drank 09/12/2026 SA @ 10:00pm): There was no waiting to get into this room!…read more After an evening at the nearby 100th Annual Hoboken Italian Festival (September 10-13, 2026) that celebrated the tradition of the Madonna Dei Martiri for those raised in the Roman Catholic religion, we decided to grab a last "communion" at The Waiting Room. Former Major League Baseball player and Founder/CEO of The Light Group, Patrick Light opened The Waiting Room in late-2023 in the previous Bobbleheads location. Trying to be established as the "ultimate starting point", it's a place where they hoped Hoboken would come to linger. Part cocktail lounge, part kitchen, and all atmosphere - it's the kind of place where one drink turned into a whole evening. In this case, it was a nightcap for us. Was this an establishment where we wouldn't mind waiting for some room to open up to enjoy a bite or a drink!? PURCHASE(S) Velvet Elvis Cocktail ($16.00): Made with Chica Chida Peanut Butter Tequila, Bols Banana Liqueur, Kahlúa Coffee Liqueur, espresso, and Baileys Irish Cream, initially it was the name that caught my attention. Then, I loved peanut butter and banana sandwiches and all of the other ingredients in this concoction that I had to order it... and, it was an excellent choice! This was a creamy velvety elixir where you were able to distinctly taste each of the ingredients. I also did bartending, so now I had to try and mix this when I got home to my personal bar - yummy! SERVICE After our party of four had our respective IDs checked outside by the friendly male security guard, we walked down a short flight of stairs into the main bar and made our way to the semi-private back area bar where there were only two other people. We settled at the bar where two young friendly women greeted us, offered us menus, and gave us time to look it over. After some time, we finally placed our drink orders, and systematically within about a fifteen minute time window (they also made drinks for the front bar, and some ingredients for our drinks needed to be replenished), they were presented to us. At this time, our area got packed! Once we finished up, we easily paid, and off we went with a casual "thank you for coming". It was all straightforward - thank you! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): This was a moot point since we walked barely five minutes from the event along the waterfront. However, there seemed to be decent options along the main drag of Hudson St. and all surrounding streets as well as public lots - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A somewhat intimate old-school feel with the dark wood and exposed brick walls, there was the front main bar area with a limited amount of stools at the bar and a few chairs and ledges to sit on along the walls. Then, there was a seimi-private back area bar (a velvet curtain separated the two) that shared the same attributes as the front but had the bathrooms. I honestly couldn't see where the kitchen was since they also served food. A minimal amount of natural lighting came into the front bar through the small front door and windows while an assortment of dim electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while various dance-infused music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL The Waiting Room felt like a place where one slipped into for a quick drink, to escape/hide away, or on a date. To that end, I would consider another visit to try some food albeit rather pricey and probably small portions, and I didn't happen to see whether or not they sold beer or if this was simply a cocktail bar. Apparently, they got festive with the decorations depending on the seasonal holiday, so that would be another thing to check out. My cocktail was tasty, the prices were a bit elevated, the service was fine, and the experience was chill but be sure to speak a tad louder than usual. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $16.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Takes a bit of effort to get what you want from drinks and food but once you understand the process, pretty straight forward and add patience when there are a lot of people. Atmosphere is always great. Good spot to meet up for a spending time out the house. Will see you there in the future! Recommended!

Chill atmosphere. Great menu. Solid Beer. Zeplin Hall delivers on all those fronts…read more Came here for a friend's birthday and it was an overall great experience. Large outdoor patio with plenty of space, great for large groups. It's a huge venue in general - 3 bars and plenty of screens. Catching a game here would be an excellent time. The kitchen pumped out some amazing looking food and the beers on draft will meet the needs and tastes of any beer lover. Service is great. I highly recommend Zepprlin Hall, it's worth the trek to Jersey City.
