Large outdoor patio with plenty of space, great for large groups. It's a huge venue in general - 3 bars and plenty of screens. Catching a game here would be an excellent time. The kitchen pumped out some amazing looking food and the beers on draft will meet the needs and tastes of any beer lover. Service is great. It's been years since hanging out here. Lots of space for big groups, and it has been busy everytime I have been. Came for a birthday party (that was moved from a park last minute because of the rain). We were in the front room and had 3 large party platters of food. The food was tasty overall - there were 2 platters with fried chicken, jalapeño poppers, huge pretzels, fries, mozzarella sticks, celery, and a lot of sauces. There was also a platter with a bbq theme with smaller pretzels, pulled pork, sausage, kraut, cabbage, german potato salad, smoked wings/chicken, ribs, another type of meat, fries, and sauces/cheese dip. A member of the staff said the front room wasn't child friendly and a couple had to sit in the big noisy room in the back with their kid while the majority of the party was up front. Not really sure why it mattered because both rooms have bars serving alcohol, and later on more and more kids were staying up front and no one told them to move. The same staff member went around taking used plates, cups and attempted to remove the food platters when they were still actively being picked over (a pet peeve of mine). He did try to accommodate us in the back by offering a long table (but it wasn't enough for the whole group) so it became the kids table. The bartender was attentive and I did not have to wait to long to be served. They have a large jug of water so you can serve yourself and the bartender can focus on everything else. I had a couple of gin and tonics that were under $9 each. They let the party bring in and serve a homemade cake. read more

Crazy to think that I remember visiting Zeppelin Hall as a curious 20-something year old a decade or so ago. Before Liberty Harbor massively developed that area. When Jersey City was known, but slightly unknown. More for the if you know, you know people. I came back recently and was still amazed recollecting the nostalgia. It's just one of those places where you have to go during the summer, but can also go during any live sporting events. The camaraderie you get inside the biergarten is one of a kind. The summers are perfect when hundreds are people are flocked outside. Drinks are pouring plentifully and pretzels and other food are gleefully shared with crowds of people. In other words, just because Zeppelin Hall is a bit older than other spots here, it doesn't mean you shouldn't try it. read more

A little late with this one but better late than never! I visited Zeppelin Hall with a group for a friend's bday right before Christmas. Our group had a great time! We ordered a bunch of food to share - mozzarella sticks, jalapeño peppers, chicken fingers and more. The food was like typical fried bar food but the pretzel was good. Kept it simple with drinks and just stuck to draft beer. I've lived in New Jersey for about 10years now and always heard good things about Zeppelin Hall but I've never been. I can't believe my one photo here is of the whole roast pig that they do in the summer. To be fair, it is eyecatching! Zeppelin Hall is one of my favorite places to eat/hang out in Jersey City. The food is good, it's super spacious, you can bring all the kiddo's, you can order drinks, they have themed nights and special menus, and it's just overall a great place to chill out. It's great for a birthday party - you can get your own table or you can pay to hold a table or there is an private event space for even bigger parties. There's outdoor and indoor seating. There are multiple counters to order drinks and one main counter to order food. It's a really great system and the people are really nice too. Highly recommend. read more

I had been wanting to come here with my gf for a while now and recently we got the chance to stop in one night after enjoying some beers at a brewery that was close by. As we approached it I had high expectations for this place as the area was great and the exterior was cool, but that soon changed. We walked in and I thought this is my kind of place. Btw, The place was pretty empty. I think there was maybe 10-12 people there including the patrons in the back. I sensed the vibe was off right away and douchey to say the least which put me off considering neither bartender working acknowledged us when we walked in or when we walked up to the bar to get drinks. The blonde haired girl was on her phone and the brown haired guy was too busy talking to a couple wannabe Wall Street types. We actually had to say, Can we get a couple beers to the girl on her phone because the other guy bartender was way too busy with his conversation. I mean you can't say, Hello, Welcome, Give me a second? SMH! We ordered an IPA and a sour which we've both had before. The beer selection wasn't great like I expected. We also wanted to order food but they told us that they had stopped serving right before we got there. What's the point of staying open late if you don't have appetizers at the least to serve your patrons!? Not acceptable! It is a cool place in general, but that doesn't matter if your service sucks and this place definitely sucks! Will we be back or will I recommend this to any of my friends. Nope! Went for a birthday party. Managed to find street parking but I think they have a lot. The hosts on staff kept the food area clean and filled. They have a handful of non alcoholic items and daytime is family friendly. There was a live band that was solid (summer) and they even took a request. Our group always hosts event here for our German organization. While we obviously are grateful for the partnership and relationship built over the years, we've always looked past some of their flaws. Their outside beer taps always taste different than inside. I don't know if it's cleanliness, if it's flat, or what exactly it is. Would recommend an indoor bar or a canned or bottled drink instead. Also, we always come around 12PM, and their bathrooms are always overflowing, dirty, lacking toilet paper, etc. The ambiance is nice and the food is great, but our group is sad to have off-tasting beer and dirty restrooms when we visit. The pink hue in the ladies restroom upstairs is off putting at best. We always share feedback directly in addition to my review today, but wanted to share our true experience as we visit 4+ times annually. read more

Stopped in here again after a few years - a little bit different. The food area in the back is still a bit slow, but the bar is busy, a lot of families and dogs wandering through the shop as folks grab a beer, watch TV, talk, and socialize. Pretzel is ok, and same with the fries. Burger looked good, but didn't have time to grab one this time. Bartender was busy but quick beer off the tap was cool and refreshing. Pleasantly surprised by this place today. The food was better than I thought it would be and the prices were less than assumed. Great outside area with huge tables. Inside was just as big. You order drinks from one bar and food from another. They give you a pager that's vibrates when your food is ready. Great place to meet a group of people since you don't have to split tabs. Great spot for brunch. Our mimosas were big and tasty. The kids meal cheeseburger and fries for $8 was a great deal and delicious. The chicken & Waffles $16 was a huge portion and also delicious. It came with 3 dips. No complaints there. The arancini were amazing. Super hot and yummy. Again the menu wasn't accurate. Didn't mention Parmesan on top. They were a bit greasy. My organization and I were coordinating an event and communicating with a staff member at Zeppelin Hall named Yosra. Unfortunately, the experience was not very positive. The communication throughout the planning process was unclear, and at times came across as dismissive. Our group purchased a food package that was supposed to include soft drinks, and we clearly communicated via email that we would like soft drinks included. However, this request was not acknowledged, and the drinks were not provided during the event. Because of this experience, I would caution larger groups when planning events here and recommend confirming all details very clearly in advance. That said, if you are visiting as a regular patron, you may still have an enjoyable experience. read more

We were here to celebrate our friend's birthday, one fine afternoon at Zeppelin Hall Biergarten. It's conveniently located along the light rail line. Even in the early afternoon, Zeppelin Hall was pretty crowded. we thought it was a small pub but it's a huge establishment. Big halls, outdoor seating arrangements, another big hall for the event- means the more you walk, and you feel like- is it ever going to end? At the center is a high, wood-top bar where tenders, barely visible behind a wall of tap handles (38 to be exact), busy themselves serving beer in heavy glass steins, available in pint, mug, or liter size Three separate bars and Every bar has different beers on tap, so you should rotate from bar to bar for the full selection. We had a couple of beers (wheat, strawberry cider, & Hofbrau), explored the area, chit chatted, and laughed- a good time it was! it's not your classy restaurant, no one gonna guide you to the table or ask for your order. just go there, sit anywhere you like, and chug it. I like the vibe, coolness quotient was too high ;) Zeppelin revelers have been known to cheer as the train travels past about every twenty minutes--I'm not sure why but don't question the collateral effects of 32-ounce mugs of strong German beer. I did like their Beer glasses- and enquired about 'is it for sale' - unfortunately- it was not... poor me Also, bring your pets! It's pet-friendly. and hey the best part- PARKING is free: light rail parking is also available for Zeppelin folks (just google 'Zeppelin Hall parking' and it will take you there). you don't need to validate it, just park it and have a good time. read more

I will give this place a 3 for ambiance and drinking. Staff is nice, place has a cool set up with a lot of room inside & outside. The food however is average and I think that's putting it nicely. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and it tasted ok, but the quality of chicken was fair. My husband had three orders of the brisket and it was also very average. When I think of brisket it's usually nice slabs that melt in your mouth. This was mealy pieces that did not agree with us at all. The fries were cold and we were disappointed. This place is really amazing. It's extremely spacious, has multiple bars, and 2 windows to either order or pick up your food. We ordered pierogies for the table and had kielbasa for my main. Both were really delicious and fairly light. The beer selection is, of course, really great and the bartenders allowed us to sample a variety of beers. Our personal favorite was the Berry Monkey sour beer. It's located in a great part of downtown Jersey City. It's a cozy, yet crowded environment. Can't wait to come back. read more

The staff is super friendly and they have different sections of the bar in case you want a more quiet spot etc. It's more fun in the summer since they have a huge outdoor section as well. This is an open seating beer garden in Jersey City, which is perfect for a casual night out, socializing, or big group events. There is a loooot of seating at the "fireplace room" which is near the entrance, as well as a large hall with many large tables for eating. The section near the entrance is where you queue up to buy drinks at the bar, while the large hall section is where you queue up for food. Note that there is happy hour Monday-Friday 4-7pm, as far as I am aware. Beer and pretzels are discounted slightly, which makes going here at those hours an especially great deal. At the fireplace room, we got 1 glass of beer per person. I personally got the strawberry cider but also sampled the grapefruit one. I am glad they have a decent selection of fruity beers, in addition to the usuals like IPAs, etc. This makes people who are similar to me who don't really like beer, more inclined to go to these beer halls. The bartender was nice enough to also let us try some beer before committing to one. Unfortunately, they don't have beer flights for now since a lot of the flight glasses broke and they are waiting on shipment, but this is something out of their control. At the hall, we ordered the giant pretzel as well as the full house wurstplate. They are pretty well priced as the portions are huge and more than enough for 3 people to share. The pretzel is nicely salted, though just a tiny bit on the saltier side, but it goes well with the beer. They also have beer cheese dip to make the pretzel tastier. The sausage plate had 5 different selections of sausages, including spicy and non-spicy variants. They are very juicy and flavorful. Also, the order comes with bread (which was okay as a filler), fries and 2 kinds of mustards - American one and the honey one. I liked the honey one more as it is much more flavorful and less mustard intense. Even dipping the fries or the pretzels in that honey mustard was delicious. Overall, I had a pretty positive experience here and am glad to try this out as I never really had a good German beer hall type of experience until now. read more

The food is excellent. I ordered the dry rub wings, mac and cheese, and a sausage sampler. The service is good. They only charged 2 dollars for a diet soda, which is unheard of in this day. Water is self-service in big containers at the bar, so I didn't have to constantly flag down a server. There are big communal tables, as well as some smaller tables for groups. Zeppelin Hall is not a perfect place but they deserve five stars. Everytime I go to Zeppelin, I have a great time. Everyone there is superfriendly. I enjoy their food, beer selection and ambience - I think the last time, I had ordered mixed sausage platter, rice balls, and caesar salad-- all were very yummy. The space is nice though sometimes the place is a little worn down-- like the bathrooms. I think this is the only restaurant that my kids enjoy going to because they can run around outside. The parking is tricky but if you are there early, you can find a spot in the weird adjacent parking lot that is closest to the pedestrian walk leading to the restaurant. They also have a large-ish private event room which looks like a neat place for special events. read more

Went there last night with a group and the food was absolutely disgusting. Our entire table was complaining about how bad it was. Potato salad was nothing but cold potatoes with no seasoning, mayonnaise, etc. on it at all. I ordered the pork schnitzel and I've never in my life. Had pork schnitzel with no kind of sauce, lemon wedges, or anything to go with it. Not to mention the outside of it was completely burnt and inedible. My friend ordered the pretzel and it was like one of those microwave super tough and burnt on the bottom things. This place used to have good food and now it's worth nothing more than just going in for a drink. After last night's experience, I highly doubt any of us will be back. read more
