Def a great spot to grab a bite and a drink. The place is big and very open and very clean. If you want tvs they got them. The wings are great. Staff was very nice. It's cash only so make sure you bring some. It's not exspensive and an atm on sight. My 2 nd time there and had a great time

SLOW POKE - the only term I can use to describe the bartender here. It truly is shocking someone can functionally move that slow - she really needs to go. Stood for 30 minutes as she inched around the bar, attempting to flirt with men (cringe), take shots with people and stare into blank space. Finally when she gets our drinks - she makes them wrong (shocker). This woman is literally so slow she's losing out on thousands on a weekly basis for this bar. If she put some pep in her step she'd serve many more drinks bringing up bar tabs. I used to frequent this bar - never again as I can't be in same room with such stupidity.

I don't think I can adequately put into words how special 8th Street Tavern is, at least not briefly. So bear with me. I grew up splitting time between Rhode Island and Hoboken (but further uptown) and never made it in here before I moved away for college. But when I moved back here after a long pandemic-forced break from going to bars pretty much anywhere, I had no idea that stumbling into the neighborhood bar across the street from my new apartment without cash (my bad) was going to lead to me finding my favorite spot in Hoboken (and maybe anywhere). The food is some of the best comfort bar food you can find anywhere, and in Hoboken that's a high bar. The craft beer selection is impressive, you can get big domestic draft in comically large and economical soup containers, and the cocktails are masterfully crafted --- there isn't a single bartender in the joint that doesn't know exactly what they're doing. I legitimately had my favorite birthday (ever) here. Fun and thoughtful events like Emo Night, Christmas in July and a special Monday opening for Game 7 of the New York/New Jersey Stanley Cup series have truly made this Devils fan's summer. And some of the staff are actually in a really good band (check out hey ashley on Spotify). Which leads me to my biggest reason for writing this review: The best part about 8th Street Tavern is the people inside it. Anthony and Mary have built a staff and an environment that is uniquely Hoboken yet so welcoming, and there's a really unmatched sense of community there. I have met so many wonderful people there and even three years later I've had people introduce themselves with "hey, have I seen you at 8th street?" elsewhere. I brought in friends from Rhode Island a couple of weeks ago who told me that they were surprised to find this bar I dragged them to in New Jersey is easily the coolest, warmest, most kick-ass neighborhood bar they've ever been to. For the first time in my life finally understand that the Cheers theme song isn't just sitcom shmaltz: it really is nice to go somewhere where everyone knows your name. Only complaints: Cash only (but that's changing at the end of this month so nevermind!), no Narragansett Lager (I will continue to lobby for this to be remedied) and the bathroom lines can get a bit long on weekend nights. All worth it though. But hey, if you've taken all this time to read this review and decide to step in and see a girl with red hair and winged eyeliner with an affinity for Taylor Swift and Paramore karaoke drinking a big soup container full of Kona at the bar, feel free to say hi and I'll share all my secrets.

Went into this bar and tried to sit at 2 empty chairs. Karen, as seen on the pics, approached my friend and I, who happened to be handicap and told us these seats are taken. We ordered drinks at the other side as another couple sat in the seats we tried to sit in initially. Wyf? Obviously, as a former hospitality professional I asked her why? She proceeded to tell its that we "ran away"!? We asked the NEW management about the situation and he asked to leave. Interesting. Situation. Seems a bit odd. Anyways if colored don't order form Karen.

Cost: $14, or $16 with fries. Pros: The chicken was pounded thin, just the way I love it. Crispy, well done exterior. Loved the pickled cabbage. Loved the bun - kind of reminds me of Amoroso's in Philly. Loved the chipotle mayo. Cons: The spice level is a 1 out of 10. Not sure why they call it a spicy chicken sandwich. No heat. But read on... Rating: 8.9 out of 10. Again, another winner from 8th Street. While I wish it had more spice, it was one of the most delicious sandwiches I have had in town and just below some of our most famous sandwiches, like Fiore's Roast Beef. The people who kept telling me to go here were 100% correct. I'm frankly shocked at how great 8th Street Tavern is. They have an incredible beer selection and even some great bourbons and wines to choose from. Mary the owner "is" Hoboken. You got to meet her. She's cut from the same cloth as some our most famous Hoboken owners. It was a pleasure to speak to her and she made you feel welcome to her bar.

I don't think I could recommend this place enough! It's by far the BEST and my most favorite bar in Hoboken. the bartenders, staff, drinks, food, music, vibes, etc. are all a 20 out of 10! Plus, you haven't truly lived until you've been at 8th for a 10 minute all too well sing along

This is my favorite local bar in Hoboken. TVs with all the games on, friendly faces and your neighbors are always there. It's a great hang out spot to catch up with friends or even stay to watch a sports game. Their bar food is very good but don't forget it's cash only!

From the moment that you walked inside, it's clear that it is a knicks bar. There are cutouts of the players and team themed decor inside. Some visible on the outside as well. The place itself is pretty spacious with three floors. All are first come, first serve. The atmosphere felt very lively. The staff really stood out as they were friendly, attentive and added to the energy. At one point, the screens in front of us showed only football, so we asked if they can change the channel. One of the employees joked around saying they can't change it. But when we were about to flip a lid, he said just kidding. It was a funny moment that made the experience feel very personal. Drinks (the beers), were reasonably priced, which is always a plus in a sports bar. The food was standard bar food. Nothing memorable. Overall, this place is a great spot to watch the Knicks game.

THE place to watch football and sports in general!…read more I've had the pleasure of coming here a few times to watch my beloved Chelsea play, but yesterday was one for the books. I came in relatively early and managed to get a great seat at the bar and meet some of the local supporters. For some reason on this trip, my phone has been dying fast and at an alarming rate. Jack, the owner, was kind enough to let me charge it while I watched the game! Unlike the other places I've been to whilst on my trip, I was given water immediately. Drink wise, I got a blueberry and sprite (go figure). Food wise, I was able to get a smaller Caesar salad and the chicken pesto pasta. The salad came out lighting quick and was the perfect portion. I had requested a smaller salad since they were all one size and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish the big one. My pasta came out right after and again, they nailed it. It was creamy, fresh, and al dente. Side note, the dish comes with bacon but they were happy to remove it. The ambiance of this place will keep you on your seat. I say that because there are so many supporters of other clubs watching games at the same time but in different sections. Suffice to say, you'll never be bored, go hungry, or wonder where to catch a fixture in a well air-conditioned place. Jack is amazing and his kindness and hospitality really made for an exceptional visit. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town.

It was however to loud where you can barely hear/understand the waiters or the ppl in your party that youre talking to. Cool vibes but the food fell short. I ordered the soul loving and the only thing good was the yams, the mac n cheese was okay. I didnt like the collard greens. The chicken look like it was Bam Bams bat from the flintstones aka steroid chicken; it was so friggin big & lacked seasoning/flavor. I also ordered the yum yum shrimp w the sauce on the side in case it was to spicy. I ate a few shrimp w/o the sauce & it was not good imo. I left more than 1/2 my food on my plate. Both my friends had the rasta pasta - 1 w shrimp 1 w chicken. My friend w the chicken picked her chicken out stating it tasted funny & the pasta was better w/o it. She also got fish tacos which she did not like them either. The drinks were good. We only had the montana, margarita & rum punch. I'd return mainly for the music & drinks. The waitress asked if we wanted to go bags & I said no immediately & my face said it all. She was like you didnt like it. Im like nah its a no for me. She brought me a drink since i wasnt happy. That was nice of her as I wasnt expecting anything.

For me, it's the food that wins for me. Hudson Station as I mentioned is not much to see from the inside but it had a Cheers (tv show) like charm. As I sat waiting for the waiter to come and take the order, I couldn't help but think about the tv show and the similarities from the show. The service was ok but the food was better. I enjoyed an amazing pulled pork sandwich with slaw on top. The BBQ sauce from the pulled pork was perfect. I had a side of fries and a few bears. My friend had a burger that he reports was good as well. Unfortunately, the waiter in the end botched the bill and made us late for our show. I was not pleased with that outcome but I did enjoy the food and music. From what I can tell, it seems like a happening place. I believe there may be a lounge upstairs but I'd have to return to confirm that. That said, I will be back and I recommend that you give them a try.
