Love this place. I don't usually haunt Hoboken but this place is a must go if you're in the neighborhood. Cool vibe, shuffleboard, pool table and good drinks.

Free pool. Great beer specials. Friendly staff. Dogs everywhere. What's not to love? Unless you're a person allergic to dogs, then this isn't for you. Kim C below unfortunately feels otherwise. I tried to make her understand it's HER responsibility to do her research on bars before going there. Unfortunately some people are truly nonsensical. Here's a snapshot of the conversation.

The Ale House simply rocks. The drinks were great and reasonably priced PLUS it's dog friendly, daily! What could be better than that? We luckily went on a night that was a charity event for the Liberty Humane Society (Yappy Hour), and we actually ended up winning the raffle for a Tito's Vodka dog house for my little Pickles. Needless to say, we had a great time, and we will be back!

Had one of my fav golden ale here, Big Wave, not too hoppy. It happened to be their cocktail week recently, i tried Ale House Mule, not bad. They have different specials/ events on different days. I have to say this is one of the most "try to do marketing" bar i've been. They allow puppies. I guess that's why they have many returning customers. Played Dart and Shuffle w my bf here. Wish they had live music. Kinda boring at the end.

We came all the way from NY to celebrate our friend's birthday last night. It was the most disgusting experience we have ever experienced! We were minding our business playing by the pool and the bartender "screamed at us saying if you don't know how to play don't play at all" is this how you treat your customers? We payed for our drinks and was playing. He didn't need to be rude and screaming at us. When I approached to ask for his name, he refused to give it to me and I also asked for a manager. He claimed he's the manager for the bar and yet he couldn't give us his name! One other guy that was by the bar came into my face and started screaming as well. At the end we got kicked out. I'm from NY and been to so many bars and this is one of the worst bars ever! You need to train your bartenders how to be professional! Never again we will be stepping our foot in this disgusting place! Please avoid going to this bar at any cost!

    Don't mind if I do.

The decor was nice but not nice enough to get me to go back when it's so tiny. There were probably 4 tables max and these aren't regular tables they're coffee shop tables. It gave cafe. There's also a whole other bar at the back but I guess they don't use it. Even though we made reservations we were told there's no seating left (clearly) and could only sit at the bar. Not sure why there's even reservations. Should just be walk-in only. The bar was empty so we just sat down and grabbed a drink each. The bartenders were very friendly and cracked a lot of jokes. I ordered the Seasonal Spritz while my friend got the Sugar Cookie Martini. We were surprised by how good the drinks were. I actually preferred her drink. It was definitely sweet though! I don't think I'll be back but it was nice to experience.

The festive menu included a range of holiday drinks. My friend and I tried the gingerbread and peppermint espresso martinis. They were delicious and garnished to match their names. Also there is a cute holiday themed Photo Booth opportunity for you and your guests. Highly recommend making a reservation as they do strictly honor them since there is limited bar seating. My guest and I went early and booked a reservation for 4pm. This was perfect because an hour later, more people began to arrive. Definitely visit to get into the holiday spirit!

This time, my friend and I found ourselves in the township of North Bergen which neither of us had been to before. After we secured seating, they were kind and patient enough to offer free samples to my friend who wasn't an IPA drinker. Afterwards, I continuously approached the bar to place an order during our stay. There wasn't any table service, so on each trip I returned our empties. Everything was no-frills straightforward which was fine with us - all was good! PARKING (FREE; N/A this instance) We took the light rail to Tonnelle Ave. Station and walked about 10 minutes along a busy street into a somewhat industrial area. They didn't have an onsite lot. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of spots along the main drag of 43rd St., the major thoroughfare of Tonnelle Ave., and nearby surrounding side streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A no-frills somewhat cavernous industrial warehouse where you walked through a door within a drop-down metal garage door, you were immediately staring at the brewing tanks. The bar area was off to the right with several high barrel tables, a handful of stools at the bar, and a chalkboard menu https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=nJg33bmX7AUR7f4gzEhgTQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw up on the wall. There was an uncomfortable hot dankness in the air. Natural lighting only entered once the garage door was opened while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were muted TVs while rock music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rblApp3OACOCC_PN48XKnQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I was happy to try New Jersey Brewing Co., and I would consider another visit at least to try the rest of their beers. However, their tap list was limited both in quantity and variety. They were very heavy on the IPAs which wasn't my favorite. Unfortunately, there wasn't any onsite food (some snacks) or trucks (BYOF style). And, they appeared to be family and pet-friendly. They had comparable prices and adequate service. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $54.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Since my last visit, I had only ventured there once for a drink, but it had been far from a first choice. I loved that they had live music and a casual vibe, but my past culinary experience had been a letdown. However, I was very pleasantly surprised on my recent excursion. We grabbed seats at the rustic bar and enjoyed friendly service and pints of Kane Head High, my favorite beer. The crisp, refreshing brew went well with my cup of Chicken Noodle Soup. While that might sound like an odd "snack", I selected it because it was one of the few appetizers on the menu that was not fried. The broth seemed to interestingly be made of tomatoes and potentially other vegetables. It was packed with large, spiral noodles, shredded chicken, and fresh spinach. It was an interesting rendition for sure, but it was also very tasty, despite the fact that it was rather greasy. I was also bummed that it did not have more chicken and that it had not been served with any crackers. Oh well! Overall, it at least had left me with a much better impression than my last trip had.

There was another item that they were sold out, but it escapes me at the time. It just felt like a place that is an upscale British pub, to be out of fish and chips is inexcusable. With that said, I pivoted and got the special which was a full English breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. And the portion size was massive! We also got the Irish soda bread to start and it was so delicious. I will admit that while I was not able to get what I wanted, I was able to get a meal that was absolutely amazing. However, I also know that the full English was a special and won't always be an option. The staff was very friendly. They did a great job of taking care of us and leaving us alone to enjoy our meals/conversations. The restaurant was also not too crowded which was a treat.
