Who's up a for a little culture war? As one of what David Hyde Pierce called the "nerdy indoor kids," I realize I've been gaslighted for decades by the jocks. A mid-80s Mets obsessive who yearns for the days of Mookie Wilson and Bob Murphy, I haven't kept up with baseball so much in recent years. That all-star game tie and DH in the NL didn't appeal to me so much. Game 7 of the World Series provided an opportunity for me to be a "normal American" and watch the game at the bar. But I didn't want to buy $80 of drinks so I figured I'd try for inning 6 and beyond and get the finale. So the plan was Cork City for part and maybe another for the ending. The game was on many TVs, caught that cool double play. The sound was on but the talking kind of drowned it out, which seemed less than ideal. However, after I left, none of the 30-ish bars I walked past even had the sound on! So much for all the "sports bars" in this town. (To be fair: it was Halloween weekend, and business decisions to appeal to 20-something women in lingerie and their admirers may have been a factor). After going to 14th and back I was ready to enjoy extra innings at Cork City. But they were at capacity. Game Over. Yes, I'm copping to my inexperience in Hoboken bar-going. Turns out Cork City offered the best baseball experience in town. As for the bar itself, I enjoyed the Peach Fuzz cider from Pennings. The service was friendly. I'll try again on an off-peak night. My plan didn't work out but at least I got some steps in and learned that many sports fans are liars. read more

Cork City is the perfect bar for all occasions. It's perfect for an afternoon drink before dinner, after lunch, mid walk, post Italian-fest (my most recent visit)... just about anytime. They are pup friendly both inside and out and it will often become a little doggie haven. I am not a beer drinker but they have such an extensive list, I usually always find a sour that I actually love. On my visit over the weekend (3 of us plus a pup) I got the Peach Ring Sour. SO good. They have plenty of tables inside and out, and you can even bring in in food from elsewhere. It really is the easiest, most casual, comfortable bar in town. read more

On a recent trip to Manhattan, the craft beer scene was found to be lacking. Fortunately this place was a short ferry ride away and easily has the best craft beer menu in my (somewhat limited) personal experience. Also it has a homey, lived-in feel that is most agreeable. read more

Popped in on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. There was only one person working but service was still great. We were lucky to grab seats outside and enjoy the warm weather (for November). This place is super dog friendly which was a plus getting to see a lot of dogs. We enjoyed a few beers. The menu is large 45+ craft beers and is sectioned off by beer style (sours, IPAs, lagers, etc...) My favorite I tried was the peaches and cream IPA on draft. read more

All I have to say is: RACK RACK city! So many diverse beers on tap, in fact you feel like you are in Manhattan or Brooklyn. SOLID choices and great crowd. If you don't mind spending $11 on a beer and have greater appreciation than Craft beer defined as: Harpoon/Ballast. This is not the bar where $5 bud light cans are $2 on Happy Hour. If you want to experience a real Craft Beer bar, come here! Given the Craft Beer scene is highly disappointing in Jersey City (it seems everyone is searching for $3 Bud Lights on tap). Given Hoboken is 5 minutes away, you really need to see how it's done. I lived in Williamsburg Brooklyn for 3 years and everywhere you turned there was a Craft Beer bar. I am super surprised Downtown Jersey City hasn't fully stepped their game up. My friends have always talked this bar up since it's their go to bar in the Hoboken area. As a craft beer lover I wished I'd listen to them before as this place as a great selection of both known breweries and some local ones. I was pretty much salivating at the mouth while reading what seemed to be about 50 draft beers or more on the board. The atmosphere here is most definitely different from your usual bar as this place is really community oriented. The regulars here treat this bar as if it's their actually home. Don't be surprised to see some babies, little children and even pets running around at times. There's no kitchen but don't be alarmed since people are allowed to bring in outside food. I like the atmosphere here for some daytime drinking so I will most definitely be coming back to enjoy some delicious craft beers off their rotating draft menu as well as the friendly atmosphere. For all my craft beer lovers- you want to try this place and for all my parents who don't have a babysitter and feel like enjoying some drinks then I recommend giving this bar a try. Side note: This review is based off experiencing this bar on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon!!! HUGE fan of Cork City! My small group of friends recommended this place to me as a cool, casual place to check out during a weekday. So we started a ritual of coming here as our go to bar for a couple of reasons... 1) The beer selection is outstanding! Easily over 25 beers on tap at any given time, and they are constantly switching them in and out. 2) Music really fits the atmosphere to a T Every time I have come here, they seem to have a completely different playlist, and each time it has been phenomenal! Different nights include: Phish concert live, The Who, U2, Billy Joel, and Bruce. 3) They went the extra mile on the beer menu. You probably get the point from just browsing the photos that the Yelp community has taken of this bar, but it is worth mentioning again. When you come to cork city, you are not just getting the typical barely legible beer menu written in chalk, this is a high definition beer TV with some real stats! It really entices you to branch out and try new beers, which I think is a wonderful aspect of this bar. The menu shows type of beer, ABV%, type of glass, name and location of brewery, and a beer advocate grade. Being someone who likes to do a lot of research before making decisions, they provide me with all the information I need to make a wise choice for my beer selection. Great neighborhood dive bar with the biggest and best beer selection in town. There's something on tap for everyone here from breweries all over. There's a digital screen that shows all the beers that are currently on tap and where they're brewed, their ABVs, and ratings. Bartenders are very friendly, knowledgeable and happy to recommend or let you try a beer. Not sound basic AF, but I love when they roll out Pumpkin Fest in late Sept/early Oct (mainly because they have my face, Southern Tier Pumpking). Laidback crowd and dogs are permitted!! Grabbed a few drinks here on Saturday night w/ some friends and had a good time. They have s good beer selection, including the standards, and it was not overly crowded. The crowd, as well, wasn't crazy or rowdy. The bartenders were prompt and friendly. The decor is a pretty standard bar, which is just fine. We played a game of darts as well (thanks to the guy who showed us that there is a spot light for the board!) and they have plenty on TVs for sports events. I wonder if they order UFC pay-per views? It's a fun place and good for a lower-key stop if you're out with friends. We'll come back again if we are around the area. read more

4 stars for a bar that sticks to one thing and does it very well: beer. The beer lists are extraordinarily extensive, especially considering Cork City is by no means a large bar. The front area can crowd up quickly since there are pillars sprinkled throughout. There is an adjacent area that opens up a bit and has dartboards anyone can you if the crowd is not too big. Generally, this bar does not fill to the brim until later in the night on Friday and Saturday. Back to the beer list! The list is displayed on screens above the bar, but you will have to wait for about 4 transitions before seeing the whole list, its that big! Bottles can get expensive as this is not the cheap stuff. I averaged about $8 a bottle, but its worth it. There's a couple of TVs around, but honestly I would come here for the beer, not to chill and watch a game. read more

I always walk past here when I'm taking a stroll with the pup or picking up/eating in at Sri Thai across the street, and it is almost always busy! Typical looking dive bar with a nice selection of specialty beers on tap. I tried the banana bread, which I didn't like but I am not a banana flavored food kind of person. I really enjoyed the Victory Summer Love ale, and sampled the creme brûlée, which was very rich and delicious. The bathroom was really clean, and the inside of the bar is also. I love the culture of this small corner pub! It is the perfect place for a fun after work drink, a weekend drink, basically anytime you want to drink. The location of this establishment is a perfect place to get the drunk munchies urge because its a stones throw away from Sri Thai, McDonalds, and just across the street is chipotle! Let me stop being a fatty and get back to the details. This place is very dog friendly, I think I've even seen some young couples come in with a stroller on a Saturday afternoon.. A nice array of televisions if there is a sports game you're looking to catch...and wait for it....two dart boards! This is probably my favorite part. My husband and I enjoy drinking our beer and playing a couple of competitive (I can carry my own) games. Another great thing about cork city is that they do a.lot of events. I've been to a few, most recently their Harpoon Brewery night. They offered a flight of their beers and we even took home two Harpoon pint glasses! They do offer a card and I believe when they have certain events (competitions in the summer from what I've seen) you can use that card to track your points. I love that their beer selection is on a screen and scrolls, and believe me they have PLENTY of beers to offer! Cork City is the only true craft beer bar in Hoboken. Other bars may have 1 or 2 "craft beers" but you know they don't really care about the quality of the beer. The Shepherd and the Knucklehead has a lot of craft beers but they do Bud Light promos which is a bit odd -- to me, a self-respecting craft beer bar would not do Bud Light promos. I love Pilsener Haus and they usually have at least one or two good local craft beers, but I don't care for most of their German beers. So back to Cork City... it's the only true craft beer bar in Hoboken. They don't serve food but there are plenty of places nearby to eat. read more

Slightly off the main drag in Hoboken, Cork City is a great place to come with a group of friends for a chiller night. You'll be sure to find a beer for yourself as the selection is vast. Gotta love a Hoboken bar that's off the beaten path. If you're tired of the same old *insert Irish name here* Pub, this is a good place to check out. Their awesome craft beer selection is displayed via TV screens and all the deets are methodically disclosed. No having to squint at illegible challboards here! My friend had his birthday at Cork City. The $35 open bar special we were offered was available from 8-11pm. It included well drinks, domestic beers and our choice of 3 different craft beers. Yep. Totes worth it. Not a huge place, but intimacy is nice sometimes - it didn't get too crowded. The one bartender that was working that night was fast, fair and efficient. No complaints here! If you're in Hoboken and looking to avoid going to the Washington Street spots, Cork City is worth a check-out. read more

I would never recommend this place and all because of how the owner behaves with women. I went for the first time and while I was in the bathroom there was a problem with one of the people in my party outside (which I was not part of because I was in the bathroom). When I came out I realized my phone was missing from the table because it was cleared out. I was just trying to find my phone inside and asking around. The way the manager yelled at me and also the owner was above and beyond until the owner grabbed me really hard by the arm and start pushing me away of the establishment. No one has the right to touch another person and the outcome would've been different if I would've been a man. I had nothing to do with the original problem and just needed to find my phone. When a man feels entitled to yell the hell out of a woman and touch her it needs to be call out for it. read more

amazing bar for craft beer. they have alot on draft, reasonably priced, and even have a rating system in case you want to see what people think the beers are like. (A, B, C, etc.). You can bring in food + even your dogs! Very good 90s rock being played nonstop! The bathrooms are spotless and private. Over all i really enjoyed this bar, however there are not too many tables or chairs so try to fight for a spot or cram at the bar. read more
