One of the BEST burgers I've ever had! My husband wanted to watch the game, and so we decided to go to one of the bars in Hoboken. Initially he picked a different bar, but with significantly lower reviews (3 stars). I wanted a "gastropub" so chose Moran's. I'm so happy we did! We sat at the bar since we knew we wanted to watch the game. The place was pretty full with only 2 seats open at the bar and 2 tables in the back. The bar itself isn't that large but has adequate seating. We ordered beer and cider to start and then the Moran burger and steak sandwich. These both come with either fries or a salad. We opted for fries. The burger is unlike most out there -- it has truffle mayo, arugula, Irish-style bacon, Irish cheddar, and crispy onions. OMG this was heaven! Came here on Saturday night and sat outside. The young blonde hostess (not sure if she even was a hostess) was really rude and did not acknowledge us when we asked for a table. We weren't greeted by our server for over 20 minutes and when he finally came by he didn't introduce himself or say hello. He said "what do you want?" which is simply rude. They took over 20 minutes to buss our table and never refilled our waters after we kindly asked. Drinks were very watered down. The only saving grace was the Moran's Burger, it was a really unique flavor and was cooked perfectly. Although it was very salty it tasted great. Now that I've finally tried a burger at Moran's, I can agree that it is one of the best burgers in town. I sat the bar over the weekend to watch the PSU game. Their brunch menu isn't huge and mostly breakfast/egg items, so I opted for the BYO burger with a salad. I added American cheese and Moran's sauce on the side. My husband got the classic Moran's burgers with fries. They don't skimp on the meat - very large patties with a good thick bun to support it. It was cooked as requested and the Moran's sauce was a nice change up from ketchup. It was a delicious burger. The dressing on the side salad was also really good! I'd 100% order a burger from here again. Nearly every dish I saw coming out from the kitchen that afternoon was a burger so everyone else got the memo that it's one of the best. read more

4.5 stars I recently revisited the charming Moran's pub for brunch with some friends. While I loved sitting at a table outside on my previous visit, eating in their rustic dining room provided a whole other element of Irish culture. I really felt like I was at a tavern across the pond. Additionally, the owner and Ireland native, Lenny, was so friendly and inviting, continually making sure we had everything we needed. The other staff members were similarly gracious. Once we were settled into our cozy wooden table, we placed our order from their varied list of breakfast and lunch options. I started with a coffee, which was good, though not my favorite tasting brew. I also ordered the Mom's Omelet using egg whites. Inside the delicately wrapped egg patty was fresh spinach, a generous amount of creamy goat cheese, and sweet sundried tomatoes. The perfect omelet was served with a few roasted, buttered red potatoes (their version of "home fries") and dry, white toast. I would have preferred if the potatoes were cooked a bit more and if there was a more nutritious variety of bread, but those are just minor preferences. Overall, I was very happy with my meal. With its cozy atmosphere and tasty food, Moran's offered an enjoyable and relaxing way to spend a weekend afternoon. read more

Where ever I go, I still haven't found a burger as good as the one at Morans. The wait staff are always nice, even when I'm there solo just to chow down the "Morans's Burger." TLDR: Good outdoor seating, not a great burger. Service: not great I came on a Saturday afternoon and sat outside for a burger (there was a private party inside) but otherwise not very busy. I ordered a BYO burger, LTO + Moran's Sauce and sweet potatoes fries. The waitress took my order and then went to a table of four and spent a while talking to them and taking to their order. So later on, I wasn't surprised when someone brought me a Moran's Burger and she had to come back and ask me what I actually ordered. Food: Presentation 8/10; Taste 5/10. My burger didn't have any flavor. I got it medium -- usually I go medium rare for a burger -- but the color was still great for medium here and it didn't ~look~ very dry. But it didn't have any flavor so I guess they just don't season the meat with anything. Bland and disappointing!! I also felt like they were chincey in the lettuce and onion. The worst part was the bun-- it was almost stale tasting because, again, there was no good bun flavor!! It just wasn't fresh and tasty experience-- I really expected better. :/ What SAVED this meal was the giant sweet potatoes wedges on the side. They were perfectly good! Their ketchup was disgusting (seriously, I really don't know how you mess up ketchup, who is making decisions back there??) so I used the Moran's sauce as dip instead. The sauce was better but nothing amazing. Wow!! Ordered through their website for pick up since they were booked with reservations all night. We ordered the chicken fingers, morans burger with fries, and bacon Brussels sprouts. Our order was ready in 30min. Smooth pick up. Everything hot. The chicken fingers come with fries. I didn't know that. The chicken fingers were juicy! Cooked perfect. Crunchy breading and excellent flavor and size. Good quality and great portion for $10!! Soo worth it!! We will get them again. 10/10 The bacon Brussels sprouts were great too. Cooked perfect, decent amount of bacon, and nice portion for $8. They are bit size which I liked. We wish they had just a little more flavor. My boyfriend likes larger sized Brussels. No crowd at all for a Saturday afternoon brunch. Available seating outside under umbrellas, as well as a spacious interior - was able to snag a table for three as soon as we arrived. To start off, ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip ($13) to share. A large offering of thick artichoke/cheese dip served with hearty tortilla chips. Cheese on top is greasy, yet the artichoke underneath is very good. For my entrée, ordered the Limerick Fish & chips ($17) - two large cuts of fried cod served alongside french fries, ketchup, and tartar sauce. Fish is a bit of a miss, the inside is quite soggy as the fish itself wasn't properly drained (possible still frozen when cooked). However, the battering itself is seasoned well. Best of the bunch were the fries, cooked well and just the right amount of salt. Local beers ran around $6-7, which was also a plus. Service is quick as they took our orders/got food out fast. Best burger in Hoboken. My introduction to Moran's, dating back to September 2018, was the famous Moran's Burger with sweet potato wedges. I'll admit that it was a little much for me. Really good burger no doubt but between the irish bacon, truffle butter, and crispy onions, it was a bit of sensory overload. Didn't love the wedges, but gave em a shot because I typically love sweet potato fries. I've been back 3 times since I think, and I've elected for the BYO Burger. It's the best burger I've had in Hoboken and maybe ever. Bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, sometimes avocado, medium or medium rare depending on the day. It's a BIG burger with a generous portion of outstanding fries. If I had one complaint about the burger it would be that the bun is sometimes a little bready. But that's a nitpick. Moran's is a MUST TRY if you want a burger in Hoboken. They have a sign outside that says Best Burger in Hoboken, and I'm here to say it's a bonafide fact. read more

Went here w a party of 9 at prime time on a Saturday night. Miraculously they were able to seat us in a private corner. Food was excellent and the whole bill with drinks and tip worked out to just over $30 pp which also seemed miraculous (did they make a mistake?). Very packed and of course a little noisy but the owner was so sweet and the one waiter (for basically the whole restaurant!) very hardworking.
