I've had this restaurant booked for some time and I must say it was worth it. From the elegant and romantic setting its a great spot for date night. I'm a sucker for anything truffle so the artichoke heart bruschetta was a treat. Artichoke with shaved black truffles topped with an egg and a creamy parmigiano is music to my ears. I was there on a weekday so it was pretty empty with few waiters. Our food took way to long and it was difficult to get anyone's attention. Other than that food was great. MC Kitchen is located in the design district surrounded by really chic interior design stores. When I first entered the restaurant I couldn't help but notice what an amazing crowd I was surrounded by as well as the interior design of the restaurant. After being seated my girlfriend and I took a look at the cocktail menu. All of the options were unfamiliar and hard to understand. However, our waiter described each drink and my girlfriend ended up getting the Honkey Hat which was a martini mixed with beer. This was one of the best tasting cocktails we have ever tried. I ended up getting a glass or Riesling. When it came time to order food we got the Artichoke Heart Bruschetta and the octopus. Both of which completely blew our minds away (the bruschetta was flooded with giant pieces or truffle). These two dishes are a must if you are at this restaurant! As for the mains I got the Roasted Pear and Cheese Fiocchi and my girlfriend choose the Bolognese pasta. The roaster pear pasta was out of this world! It was flooded with a truffle taste as well and each bite just melted in your mouth. The portion is a bit small but I guess good things come in small amounts! The Bolognese pasta wasn't anything special; It wasn't bad but it didn't pop like my dish. We found the desert menu to be kind of boring so we didn't end up getting desert. This place isn't as expensive as other well known restaurants in Miami but it is 100% up to par with them. I would definitely suggest coming to mc kitchen for dinner when in Miami if your are looking for a well priced delicious dinner. I'm going with 5 stars even though I ate at the bar since I was dinning alone. First let me say the restaurant is very elegant and the bar area is very conducive to eating there and having a few cocktails. As for the service and the help I have to say that everyone one I came in contact with couldn't have been nicer or more professional. when is at down I immediately felt right at home. As for the size of portions and prices I have to say that the size of each of my plates were perfect and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality and high skill level of preparation you're getting. Let's remember people when you go here it's a "Dinning Experience" not an all you can eat stuff your face experience. The food is not going to be hanging over the sides of the dishes. This is minimum 2 courses and should be a 3 course event. If you order in such a manner you will either have a little room for desert or be completely full like I was. I'm a big eater and took half my third course home. I started out with the artichoke bruschetta, I think it has been adequately described by my fellow yelpers. This is a must have dish, do not come here and not order that. My dish was so clean when i was done it could have been used for my next course. Next I had the Octopus, again octopus is my favorite dish so I know good octopus and this was great octopus. Next I had the cavetelli knowing I would not finish it, so it was pre meditated to bring some of this great food home for lunch. So three perfectly prepared dishes. Two appetizers and one main course. As for the water thing, never had any, the beer selection was so awesome I just had a few glasses of the tap Dogfish. I had the peach dogfish, excellent and very refreshing. Wine list was very interesting with lots of names you don't see often. Something I look forward to when I come back which will be very soon.. All in all I think this is a winner, I may have gone out on a limb here since I didn't sit inside and do table service but I think when I go back with a companion and sit at a table the experience will only be better. read more

The starter dish of octopus with a porcini infused risotto may be the most delicious thing I've ever put in my mouth. Seriously. Service is impeccable (as stated in other reviews) and ambiance is what you would expect from a higher-priced restaurant in the Design District. The bartender/owner is incredibly engaging and offered to let us sample a bunch of different whiskeys before settling on one! We tried about 9 different whiskeys and I've had other friends who have had the same experience here at the bar. Only reason I'm taking off a star is that we had the tile-fish special with black garbanzo beans and it was actually pretty dry and flavorless. Bolgnese was delicious, just wish we had ordered a better 2nd dish. Will definitely be going back - either for a casual dinner at the bar or bringing out of town guests for a fun expensive dinner. read more

Visited this restaurant for the first time because it was recommended by a friend. Menu was a Saturday "brunch". Ordered the egg special when it arrived it had a small hair in it. I asked for hot sauce which was not hot sauce but a sweet bbq sauce. When explaining this to the waiter he barked @ me its chipotle. The server sent Eric the manager over who was very nice. He took care of our bill and and apologized for the food and servers behavior. Eric handled the situation perfectly. I've heard many great things about this restaurant and after coming here for lunch with my boss, I thought it would be there perfect place to bring my mom for her birthday. What saves this restaurant from getting a one star review is the amazing food. When I came here for lunch not only was the food top notch, but so was the service. After coming here today for dinner I am highly disappointed. I made a 9pm reservation on open table for 3. We arrived at 9:02 and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. We were told we could wait by the bar. We ordered 2 old fashions (which were not done how I'm accustomed to having it. This version had a cherry and a giant wedge of orange) and a mojito (it was terrible, not the best choice at a Italian restaurant). It took a long time to get the attention of the staff at the bar. This would not have been a problem had the drinks been better and my glass not broken. Once we were seated at the table the service got even worse. When you go to a restaurant, specially one as highly recommended and expensive you expect to not be treated like you are bothering them. Food took a while, but good food is worth the wait. Our server, Maria T, was not attentive at all. For the hour and a half we were there she did not ask us once if we were ok or if we needed anything. Clearly we did..... all of our glasses were empty... Once the food got there we felt much better because it was soooooo delicious. I went up to Maria on my way back to my table to request a dessert to celebrate. When i asked to do so, she looked at me as if she had never seen me and asked who my server was. I was baffled. I understand things can get crazy when an establishment is under staffed but this is unacceptable for such a high end place. Sadly I don't think I'll be back. Even though everything we ate was delicious. I hate to blame such a good place for the lack of attention or mistreatment from staff, but this experience left a very sour taste. read more

We ate at lunch and the restaurant was short staffed. A glass of Albareno shouldn't cost $16 and should've be served warm, and shouldn't take 15 minutes. My water glass wasn't refilled and I had to ask twice. While the food was nice and the restaurant is quite chic I don't think it deserves the accolades it gets in other reviews. Miami's just lacking in good restaurants so what passes here for great is only good elsewhere. Food is OK. Bolognese sauce was good but I can make the same or better at home. Flatbread's are OK.. my wife had a shrimp one but the shrimp were breaded and deep fried and it didn't really work on a flatbread... Lightly sauted would be better... And less oily. The atmosphere is probably good after work and the scene is Miami Design so the girls are better dressed than usual with Loub's here and there. read more

My boyfriend and I wandered into this place after walking around the Miami Design District. The interior of the restaurant is modern and luxurious. The food was delicious. I can recommend the hanger steak and for desert, the warm chocolate budino (absolutely incredible). But the best part about this restaurant is the attentiveness of the staff. This started off as an amazing experience and easily could have been tagged as one of my more rare 5-star reviews...If only that had lasted through the meal. Met another couple for dinner here over Memorial Day weekend. We started off with drinks at the bar, and is often the case, I started chatting with the bar manager....Before I know it he's offering up tastings of their various beers and wines by the glass, and even made a couple shandies (beer mixed with ginger ale) for us to taste. We were made to feel incredibly welcome and appreciated. Then came dinner... Almost all the food we ordered was exceptional (other than the carbonara, which I recommend skipping). But I don't care how good the food is, if I'm not treated well, especially with those kinds of prices, I don't want to eat there. To say that our waiter was disinterested in us would be an understatement. From the beginning of service, taking our orders, and serving us, we were made to feel like he was doing us some kind of favor by allowing us to eat at one of his tables. Heck, I felt more appreciated by our busser, who was quick to provide us with bread and water as needed. The waiter was absent for long stretches of time, difficult to get a hold of, and frequently seemed annoyed with our questions/comments. All-in-all, very disappointing given the price-point of this place. This is an example of where two drastically different experiences balance out and leave me with a middle-of-the-road score. We went to MC Kitchen last weekend and sat at the bar to have some drinks and appetizers. But, the food and service was so good, we ended up having 2 apps, 4 drinks, 2 entrees and a dessert. So much for our initial plan! lol Greg was our bartender, and he was so nice and helpful. He even made us custom cocktails because we were in the mood for something spicy. They were amazing!! The tuna appetizer was delicious, and my fiancé had the octopus. It smelled amazing and he enjoyed every bite. The best thing I had was my entrée. I forget the actual name, but it was pasta with alfredo sauce and diced pears. OMG, one of the best dishes I have had in my life, seriously. The dessert was pretty good - a chocolate cake. The service-Amazing, the manager made me some truffle fries, although they only service it for lunch and I came around dinner time. I realized I hadn't written a review for MC Kitchen, even though I've eaten there numerous times. The location is easy to get to, the design is awesome. The design is comfortable for a daylight lunch and transforms into an elegant night time dinner spot. The food is fairly priced for the location and quality of ingredients used. That's to say it's pricier than other restaurants, but you won't feel ripped off once you eat the food. I have the fiochi as a starter (just a half portion as my wife doesn't like truffles) I also have a half order of Caesar salad. I was regular with the bucatini carbonara but a server suggested the rabbit ravioli. Once you have it you'll realize that's a dish you'll tell people about. I like to finish with the warm chocolate budino with a scoop of vanilla iced cream. My wife LOVES the yellowfin tuna crudo, she likes the bolognese too. She's not a dessert girl. She says they have great espresso. One thing I'm not a fan of is the sodas in the bottle. I like fountain sodas. But it's not worth taking a star away. The service is on point, they don't rush you with course after course. They actually wait for you to be done with one course before getting the next course ready and delivered to the table. They don't have heat lamps so they actually make the food to order and time it to be ready at once (which is pretty impressive) I've eaten here at least 15 times and I don't see a reason to not go back. I'm always quick to recommend this place to others. So I recommend this to you. read more

Last week me and my friend visited the restaurant since we had a lot of people who recommended it. We were looking for a nice place and good food since we are both pregnant and wanted to treat ourselves. The food was ok, but the service was terrible! We were on a table where the sun hit directly. We asked the waiter if he could close the curtains and he said "No" (just like that) and didn't offer to change tables, even when there were a lot of empty tables. When we got the check, he asked about our meal. I said that it was good but we were so uncomfortable with the heat and and the sun hitting directly to the table. His answer was very rude! he said "I cant fight with mother nature". It's a shame that the personnel ruin such a nice place... I won't come back. read more

The best aspect of MC Kitchen is its staff and our waiter was pleasant and helpful. Seating is also good here with tables nicely spaced. The food is not bad but relative to its price point it could use some improvements. The pastas we had were good with the pear pasta being the evening's standout. It was nicely flavored with a white truffle cream sauce and cooked al dente. I would go back just for that - and then I would leave. The tagliatelle pasta we had suffered from overcooking but the accompanying braised beef was good. It was the veal chop that was a disappointment and certainly didn't live up to its $58 price. It was dry, overcooked, fatty and lacking in flavor. What a waste. Dessert was okay but not enough to salvage a dinner that was uneven. read more

Loved everything about this place! We arrived a little early on a Saturday night and sat at the bar for drinks. The bar tender was extremely pleasant. We lingered at the bar a little longer than expected but were seated with no problem. . . The décor and ambiance were great. We started off with octopus appetizer which was delicious! I had the scallops on top of corn risotto OMG to die! My husband had the pasta Bolognese which he also loved. We ended with a passion fruit panna cotta which was perfect! Came here as the last big outing of our staycation. The restaurant looks really cool, the crowd was slightly older than us, seems like mostly "middle aged" which isn't a bad thing; comparable demographic to MGFD. Sometimes the restaurants geared towards younger crowds have too many gimmicks, bad service, tiny portions, etc. The service here was actually really good, which is always a surprise these days. We had the Black Mission Fig Pizzetta, Roasted Pear and Cheese Fiocchi, and the Tennessee Honey-Glazed Niman Ranch Pork Chop. The pizzetta (flatbread) was sooooooo good. I ate 3/4 of it myself. Wife had the fiocchi were very "empalagante" ... so after a few bites it was too much for her. But that's an issue with that particular dish anywhere you get it... it's way too rich to eat a whole plate of it on your own. Makes a good appetizer if you're in a group, that way each person can eat two of them. My pork chop was actually pretty amazing... it had a sweet glaze which was different than the usual pork chop preparations which are typically savory or barbecuey. The accompaniments were pretty good, hummus and bacon-apple hash mixed in with the brussel sprouts were really interesting. OMG so good. We were super excited about brunching at Egg and Dart today but when we got there they were inexplicably closed! We had looked into coming to MC Kitchen before we left but decided the menu wasn't that appealing, and maybe overpriced. So glad we ended up here instead. MC has a lovely contemporary comfy-luxe interior that we were slightly underdressed for but no matter; the wait staff was warm and welcoming anyway. We ordered the farm egg pizza and OMG amazing- my first bite made me so nostalgic for my childhood spent in Ohio's countryside. I actually stopped everything and closed my eyes and wanted to cry like some pre-menstrual sissypants it was so good! It smelled like grandma's kitchen, but tasted infinitely better than anything I could have possibly eaten as a child (the "white sauce" on it? Actually country gravy-YUM!). We also got the French Toast+fruit special. Again amazing and with a homestyle flavor, but better. Rounded out the meal with a side of perfectly balanced potatoes/mushrooms/peppers. The two of us ended up devouring everything, despite multiple attempts to stop eating. If their dinner menu is half as enthralling as brunch was, it's well worth the trip (and the moderately higher prices). read more

To start off the service was very bad. We were asking the waiter some questions about the plates and how they come but he answered in a rude way and was rushing us to order. The waiter wasn't refilling our water even though he saw that we needed some water. The food wasn't really anything special. My whole family ordered the spaghetti carbonara and it was good but it wasn't anything too special the other things that there was pizza. I have to say very disappointed with the service. We have to wait 20 min for the French fries, and we had to asked 3 times for mayonnaise. I was so excited to try this place, and kept feeling underwhelmed at every turn. From start to finish I just can't think of much good to say. The greeting at the door didn't feel sincere, the energy in the room (which is beautifully done) doesn't feel right, the service was just par and the food was pretty much a let down. Maybe I'm a picky pasta eater, but this place actually made me mad about some of the pastas they were serving. Swimming in sauce.... this might be preferential, but it should be about the pasta, and similar to a good salad should be dressed appropriately. The beer program was a definite highlight here featuring a lot from Dogfish which was unique. The wine list was pretty good...
