After a fruitless debate between my wife and I about where to go for dinner in the Los Altos area, she mentioned MB Grill because we had never been there since it was the former chain Mongolian BBQ that occupied that space. "Sure why not?" was my response and I am glad that we went! It was already 8 pm so the place was pretty quiet when we walked in. We were greeted and seated by a server who then asked if we had been there before. As I mentioned we hadn't been here recently so she took us through the process which was pretty similar to its predecessor's. You get a bowl, fill it with meats and veggies, chose a protein, a sauce, and hand it over to the chef's which cook it all up. The ingredients all looked fresh and tasty. I thought I was going to do AYCE but a medium bowl with fried rice was perfect for dinner. Our server was very attentive and kept our drinks full. We shall return again soon! read more

This place is amazing! Staff is so nice and the food is fresh and delish! The price is awesome for the huge serving you get and you get to pick out everything you want in it. Take your appetite because even a small plate is huge! Def can eat here if you are vegan or have food allergies too. You make your own plate then they cook it. Went here for lunch. The service was somewhat cold but they sat us very quickly. They ask right away what size bowl and noodles or rice. I ordered the small bowl which was not that badly priced. The price was $10.95. When you get your bowl at the counter you can put it the raw meat first there was beef, chicken, pork, some of the meats were marinated. There was shrimp, scallops, crab and a lot of different seafood for the bowl. There was a lot to choose from for the sides for the bowl I would just make sure you push down the food in the bowl because I was dropping food everywhere on the tray and trying to get everything in there was a challenge. There also was a great variety of sauces you can put in a container on the side make sure you do two I did one and it could have had more sauce, I had the spicy Thai, which was very tasty. I did not put noodles or rice for my bowl and that confused them a little I think. When it does come out the plate could be bigger because the food was falling off the plate to the table and I did not want to make a mess. The restaurant and the tables were clean. Went for lunch today. Service was excellent! I opted for the medium one time bowl, and was more than enough for lunch. For dinner, I might select the AYCE choice, depending on how hungry I am. I thoroughly enjoyed my beef, sausage, green onions, cilantro, a couple of jalapeno slices, tiny bit of garlic and chose 2 sauces: spicy house blend and curry blend with the udon noodles. My 1st time eating here. I would have never come back had it not been for my husbands meal. If you have never been here, I recommend you get help with the sauces. My husbands MB was so good, I ate more than he did. Because his was so good, I almost gave it a 5 star. But, the cook doesn't speak English and the host wasn't very helpful. Dined here when it first opened and the all you can eat bowl was $17.95 (as you can tell by the white out and hand written $19.95 price on the menu). When I brought it up to the owner, he lied to me and said it has always been $19.95. I immediately left as I refuse to do business with untruthful and shady businesses. Had he just admitted that he had to re-adjust the price due to increasing costs of doing business, I would have stayed and eaten and gladly paid the $19.95. It's currently 5:30 PM and the place is a ghost town. Not a single customer. It's a shame because the food was decent the last time I ate here. Hopefully next time he chooses honesty and integrity and just maybe the customers will start come back. read more

Service was good. Food was fine, except for the limited scarce selection. But if your used to the typical "all-you-can-eat" Mongolian BBQ, you'll be disappointed. The price for a very small bowl is close to the all you can eat places we have frequented. The all you can eat option here is $16.95, almost twice what we're used to paying. Add that you have a choice of noodles, rice, or soup...vs our regular place giving you those sides with your meal included in the price. We are very disappointed. read more

If you were sad when Genghis left, prepare to be ecstatic! The theme is the same except better, I think. The only change I see is in how the food is served. Instead of bowels, your delicious food is served on a plate (I like to see my food.) This is my favorite restaurant. I don't usually work with spices, so the only thing I would change is to have them in order of mild to hot. I have caught my mouth on fire a couple of times now. Hello all Mongolian BBqers out there, I really wish there was a real traditional Mongolian BBQ eatery here in there Reno/Carson Area. I hate to say it but MB Grill Does not cook their bowls the traditional way like really good places such as HuHot Mongolian Grill or Stir Fresh Mongolian Grill. You would normally be given a large bowl in which you add all your meat, veges, noodles and sauce all in one bowl. Once that is done you would hand your masterpiece to the grill chef/cook and he would cook them all together so that the flavors are infused into the entire dish. Its just crazy that within 45 miles from Carson City/ Tahoe/Reno/Sparks, there are absolutely nothing in regards to Real Traditional Mongolian BBQ places here :( very sad case. Maybe we will all get lucky some day and be blessed with a great Mongolian BBQ joint. read more

Rude people. Not kid friendly. Full price on kids ayce no matter what age. I probably would have tried if was just the adults. Had 2 kids 7 and 8, would love to go up to the line a couple times with us and probably get small portions. The hostess showed us a small metal bowl and said this is kid size. $14 for a bowl,$20 for all you can eat, no lunch specials. In my opinion more than I was looking to spend at 1 pm on a wed for lunch, but I loved the previous restaurant Genghis Grill (GG), which was located here before and is also a Mongolian BBQ place incase you do not know. The new MB Grill literally kept the same tables chairs and booths, colors, sign layout. Its literally exactly the same but with higher prices. Nothing original, the holes for decorations GG had before were literally plastered over and repainted, but with a glossier version of the same color paint. They didn't even restain the chairs and the table next to me has cardboard under the table to keep it from shaking. They have been open for 3 months and it looks like MB Grill has been open for 10 years. at least I picked my own ingredients so that atleast tasted good...but what do can you expect when you pick your own ingredients In my opinion it would be plenty to share the medium bowl, i felt it would be enough for 2 people to eat. I am a 25 yo 175 pound guy and only ate half ( though did stuff my bowl as high as I could) unless you can eat enough for four adult males the all you can eat option would be a waste of money since you cant take it home.
